My name is Rob, I am the executive producer of the Clubhouse podcast, and yeah, I'm a juvenile,
let's just be honest, I'm 7.
Across the desk from me is my co-host, and a man that has been to many foreign countries
in his time, but probably not Ecuador.
He is Chad, and yeah, you got even cute in there, do you like that?
Nicely done, well play.
And next to him is the official fact checker of this show, and a man that knows that Ecuador
has its name, because it is the Spanish word for equator, which runs through it.
You may know him as Fondango, he is the official fact checker of this show, but his
mom and name is Don Ford, I'm a calm down for what's up sir, hey, yeah, Montana is
actually Spanish for mountains, so there you go, there we go, where's my Q&A, did I mean?
I didn't do that on purpose, really.
Whatever we do one of these industry reviews something, this is no different, director
Jonathan Levine and writer Kate Dipold have gotten together with Amy Schumer, Goldie
Han, and a whole bunch of other people for a movie called Snatched.
Well, we got to think, you ready to sing?
Yep.
And the great marketing, got to thank Josh, the whole crew, we love him.
So here's what you need to know, Amy Schumer plays a young woman named Emily Milton, in
the very beginning of the film, her boyfriend dumps her, right before they were supposed
to go together on a trip to Ecuador, and since the trip is non-refundable, and no one
will go with her, she ends up with kids, remember there's those tweets, it's a can bring
my child.
Okay, I thought they were being fesicious, she ends up taking her mother, Linda, played
by the great Goldie Han, oh, I have to say from there, think a comedic version of
taking, that's what you need to know, no, if I can picture that in my head, I can't, this
run, it runs about 90 minutes, but this is a weird, you gotta stay with me for a minute,
because this is kind of a weird way to do this.
This is a really long 90 minutes, but this movie is hilarious.
So it's kind of a weird dichotomy for me, because the, the watch gauge was at like 20
minutes, ooh, not the best, but I was still laughing out loud a lot in this film.
And for people, I, and I understand that Amy Schumer is not everybody's cup of tea, I
get that, but I really think that even though she's so Amy Schumer in this film, it's kind
of like she's embracing the bit and just kind of rolling with it.
So to me, it wasn't as bad as it's been in other things I've seen her in.
Okay.
Now a lot of people that I talked to that were at our screening, see, I haven't seen
train wreck.
Yeah, I have.
And it's on my list of movies I need to see, but people are saying that she was better
in that than she was in this.
I liked her in this.
I thought her and Goldie Han worked really, really well together.
Good chemistry.
Great chemistry.
And it's been so long since we've seen Goldie Han in something of note that I had
forgotten how great her comedic timing is.
Like I'll give you an example, and don you'll know what I mean, when they are first
abducted, abducted, and Amy Schumer wakes up in this cell and Linda's reading the magazine.
Yes.
Her, her cadence, everything, but I told you about that.
Yes, you did.
I, I was like this, she's genius.
She is an absolute genius.
Yeah, I was a genius moment.
And we were also talking, has there ever been a time where she incurred open films back
to back weekends?
And I don't know that they ever have.
And they've been in a movie together overboard, you know, things like that.
But I thought this was really enjoyable, and there's some also other great performances
in this.
Wanda Sykes.
Oh, yeah.
When they get to the resort, she plays another tourist that's kind of little paranoid.
One of the quotes is, one in four people in these places are kidnapped.
One, two, three, where's the fourth person?
And you got to give a joke to her and her platonic friend, Barb, played by
Joan Cusack, who I didn't even recognize.
But in that role, oh my god, a huge talker, oh yeah, absolutely, except that's exactly
true, except the exact opposite.
She's not saying, well, she is, and she's great in this.
No, one word, but she was in special apps.
I'm telling you, she wasn't special, oh my god, all I say is the, the gate, the gate towards
the end.
Yes.
And also a really great performance, a guy, well, he's one of these guys that's,
he's in everything you've seen in the last couple of years, guy by the name of, Ike,
brain, barren hults.
Oh, I screwed, almost screwed that up.
Do you know what I'm talking about, Chad?
No.
He was Greg's in suicide squad.
He was on mad TV, he was on the Mindy project.
He's the voice of AJ from zombies in space line of Colin duty, infinite warfare.
Let's see.
He was in neighbor, he was in the neighbor's movies, he was on the league.
He's one of those guys that when you see him, you're like, oh, that dude, they just
shut up to me.
He plays the brother, Jeffrey, mama, mama, mama, mama, mama, mama, mama, mama, mama,
and you mama, mama, he plays goldies, son is what you're saying, yes, oh, dear Lord.
And bolognies in this, dude, you put Maloney in it just about anything and you have my
attention.
I love that dude.
I wish we had more of him in this, and I think that's the recertain, certain scenes
that dragged a little for me, and I said to my written review, which is conveniently located
for your perusal at www.theclubhousepodcast.com, which is our website, that if maybe
they shorten the scene where Emily's talking Linda into going on the trip, and a little
bit more time with Maloney, who is as they're trying to escape these kidnappers, he is a,
who they believe is a local guy that's going to get them to, to an embassy, I almost gave
away the where they were.
Let's just say they're not an Ecuador when they wake up and we'll leave it at that.
But is this his first swim through comedy?
Maloney?
Yeah, I got four words for you.
What, how do Americans summer didn't see it?
So, no, he's done.
He's done quite a long ago.
I can say he's the Tarzan.
Yes.
Oh, God.
That's the comedy you don't see exactly.
Exactly.
That was the genius comedy.
And as much classic bits that you're like, okay, this is about to happen, there's a lot
of stuff too that they throw in there, you just go, oh, that is unfortunate.
Yeah, it was him in suicide squad.
This.
That's Jared Lennon.
Not the same guy.
Oh, you're talking about the guy that was.
Gritz.
Yeah.
Okay.
Yeah.
The dude that clear my browser history.
Yes.
Okay.
All right.
I, I just, I really, really liked this film.
It just felt like maybe they had drawn certain scenes out that could have been better.
That time could have been better used in other people.
And there were certain scenes like with the medical procedure.
Oh, yes.
But how they ended up there, just how the blue, they kind of explained it, but they didn't
explain it.
You know what I'm saying?
It wasn't for, for, in in context though, it wasn't a far leap for me.
Yeah, but I'll say this about the comedy, like the medical procedure.
There is some crude, oh, yeah, do not crude, adult humor in this film.
If your kids ask for this film, do not be very bad, be very, very careful.
It earns the already in about the first five minutes.
But the crude comedy work.
And this, in this particular case, it did work.
And I've seen her work blue within this, like the drinks when they arrive at the resort
for the first time.
No, I told you about that last time.
Yes.
And it was a lesson, the better.
And you want to talk about a scene where you get to the payoff and you're like, oh, that
is what, when they first get to the resort, that's one of those scenes.
It's the comedy.
It's crude.
But I worked.
So a lot of times, he's totally not.
These, a lot of these films try to in the crude, but it just, it doesn't work.
This one, it actually works.
So we got one, and there's even nudity in this.
There's some violence.
It's comedic violence, it's some points.
But it's still some violence people pass away in this film.
Like the opening crawler says about, you know, these women go,
it's like, there's like an opening, like, title bar title screen.
And it says, two women went to Ecuador, what followed was violent, unbelievably, just,
all these horrible words happen.
And it says, and the kidnappers did some bad stuff, too.
I'm telling you, I really enjoyed this film.
You know, I thought the best pairing was besides.
Who's that?
You know, Schumer and them.
Schumer.
I can't be seen between the Han and Schumer, but I can place the sign.
And the guy who was trying to figure who that was, who was the state department guy.
Oh, I know you're talking about, let me get to that.
They don't have, like, I've, I've, go to the full cast screen for that.
We know, he was very, very funny.
But him, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the sheer salahooden who played Morgan Russell.
Those two, he's a guy that answers the phone and the state department.
But just dropped, there's so many scenes, which were my mom, my mom, my mom.
And the guy from the state department is just like,
because he just, he's calling them.
And he's like, look, I'm doing everything possible.
He goes, okay, here's my instructions.
Next time you think about calling don't like to stay on don't call.
And this opens mother's day weekend, which is kind of interesting too, because I think that if,
you know, if you're, if you're somebody who can handle that kind of a film as,
as a mother and daughter, it's a, it's a fun movie.
Oh, believe me, they're out there.
Believe me, this has an audience.
And do you have any other questions for we get to file an analysis on this?
No, this is one.
Well, you know, this is one, if you get offended easily, don't go.
Oh, yeah, oh, absolutely.
But if this is one, if you can leave your PC card at the home, you know,
and just want to go and then have a good time.
Yeah, this is the film.
I thought that, you know, perfect timing.
And I don't have, I thought, was perfect.
Um, I was pleasantly surprised on how much I really like this film.
I thought it would be okay.
This was funny.
And the crowd doing this whole thing at the screening, laughed constantly.
The comedy does not dry up.
The comedy goes all the way through the film, which I think is very, very important.
It's one of those, you almost feel like you have to go back and see it again, just to catch
everything you missed up or something, because you were laughing so hard.
Totally.
Anything else?
No, I think it's fine.

I was surprised on how much I liked it.
I think I'm right there with you.
I definitely would see this again.
This is the kind of movie I would love to see with a good group of people.

Especially to watch them react to the stuff that you know is actually on the way.
