Because it always seems to be like a topic of debate.
Is it too extravagant?
Is it- is it even necessary?
What have you?
And we've seen them pull off the opening ceremonies
for the summer and the winter Olympics in different cities,
with varying degrees to success.
Interesting that there's such a, I mean,
I know it's different seasons and whatnot in different sports and different athletes.
But the even the vibe of the opening ceremonies is always completely different.
I'm always intrigued by that.
Did you watch any of it, Andrew?
Because I know he did not.
I did not watch a moment.
Not a moment.
But you've seen them in the past.

Do they get you pumped up for the whole-
Because, I mean, literally, this was something that
we kind of scheduled our weekend around.

Because we want to build up the anticipation they went,
no, it's still as thought of as you need us.
So deal with it, yeah.
I mean, like, you are the host country's guards.
There's so much instability right now when it comes to the Olympics in general.
Like, there was nothing about, even like,
were there any celebrities involved in this thing?
Were there any dignitaries that I would have recognized?
Because you would think with everything surrounding these specific Olympics
that you would be plugging every possible appearance that you're going to put in this thing.
The only thing I knew going in was Michael Phelps is carrying the flag.
I didn't even know who was lighting the torch and I didn't rightly care.
Well, you know who they were wanting to get to light the torch.
It was supposed to be Pelle, but he was sick and could make it.
And who they got couldn't tell you who the heck he was, what the heck he did.
And his name translates to Dave Smith.
And I mean, and how they even lit the thing like the cauldron,
you could probably put it up on your mantle.
Now, who was it that did the deals with the little ones and they all came?
Was that be Beijing or London?
Because that was one of the coolest ones I've ever seen.
Well, what have you seen? Have you seen the cauldron?

They, they put it in the middle of a, what looks like a flower.
It looks like a silver bronze, whatever.
You couldn't deal with a lighting.

Where it looks like it's, you know, it's constantly in motion and it's got like this rippling effect.
So whenever the cauldron came up to the middle of it, it looked like the sun.

Yeah, if, if it does, it's not going to do much for if you don't see it in motion.
But was it pretty cool though?
It was kind of neat.
But it was just kind of like, was it where they, were they trying too hard?
Well, no, they were working a, of course, you know, you've heard about how
beleaguered this, this region of the, of where it is.
They were probably Adrian, William a carried the torch at sound at one point.
She is a Victoria's secret model.

She might have carried it at some, so, so I Google 2016 Olympic torch.
And it's giving me torch cupcakes in ice cream cones, type in cauldron rather than torch.

Um, it's like, well, the craft.
The only celebrity of note that was involved in this thing,
like on an international level that we would know, was just so much.
Yeah, because because Tom was down there, right?
Well, she's Brazil.
Okay, I, yeah, oh, she is Brazil.
You know what, I kind of did this.
This is what I'm looking at.
It, I mean, like, it looks kind of like a pinwheel.
Yeah, yeah, I mean, it kind of digs that.
It is kind of cool, but it's, it's not as, it's not as huge and grossly extravagant,
which I think, given what they were having to work with, they made it work pretty well.
Oh, maybe they didn't, couldn't get it finished.
Maybe not, if you know, nothing else got done in time.
But I like that. I'm on board with that, but keeping it real.
But I mean, like, it's, it's kind of small potatoes compared to some of the cauldrons that we've seen.
These huge massive elaborate, I will say the other one that I really dug was, was it
Atlanta where the dude shot the arrow?
Yeah, it was in 96.
I was like, brother, you got one shot at this.
I wonder how long they've rehearsed that because I'm like, if you missed this, this thing,
you will, they will replace the guy falling down the hill and the agony of defeat with you
for the rest of eternity.
Oh, you know, he didn't hit that thing.
He just kind of went over it and they timed it to where it just got set off.
No, I mean, I watched that live.
He, I mean, granted, the cauldron was like 30 feet around.
And so you, you know, if you missed this, why?
I mean, it was way up in the air and he hit it.
It was impressive.
He didn't necessarily have to be catnosed every day to hit the right thing.
Did his bow have a tripod on it?
Like the ones in the corner?

He actually, he pulled, he pulled it back to you saying bolt style.

But yeah, he had a very traditional looking bow.
And as we said that, we were talking about that last night.
Apparently that they do the archery, they put the bow on a tripod now.

to this opening ceremony.
We talked to, I lengthed about that last week with your list.

There are people up in arms about this because he was dipping the flag when he carried it.
He didn't have it, you know, completely, you know, perpendicular with the ground.
He wasn't holding it completely straight.

Like I literally saw this guy go on Facebook live with this.
And he was just ranting about that apparently some athlete decided in 1904 when
he was the flea was 1904, 1908, that he wasn't going to dip the flag to honor the host country.
Like, apparently when you first walk in, you dip the flag to basically you're bowing to the
host country.
And then you pick it back up and carry it as normal.
But apparently Phillips just kept it at an angle of a whole time.
So you can probably see the whole flag, bro, mark up.
Probably so.

Uh, but you worry about your Zika for you worry about that.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, but this guy said that this, this athlete 1908 said,
well, our flag doesn't bow to any other flag.
And it's been this way ever since.
