When does The Compost Story launch and how can people participate?

The full-length film launches May 7th. People can participate in the campaign by taking compost actions and using the hashtag #compostlife on social media.

What makes the New York to Lisbon leg of the World Sky Race the hardest part?

The New York to Lisbon crossing requires potential refueling stops via the Portuguese Navy's ships stationed in the Mid-Atlantic if headwinds prevent non-stop passage.

How is Ridge Sharif being presented at the festival?

Ridge Sharif screens at 3:30 PM at the African American Museum with five short documentary clips, each followed by a Q&A session to show the trajectory of ocean conservation issues.

It is 10-01 on the East Coast, it is 7-01 on the West Coast, it is the 21st of April in the year of our Lord 2017. Season 7, Episode 40, 390 times. This voice has welcomed you to the Clubhouse podcast.

Whether you're listening live on Ustream, whether you're on our archive or whether you subscribe on your favorite podcast app, we don't care how you listen, we're just glad you're here. Welcome. Now you may be saying to yourself Rob, it's another Friday night.

The show is normally on Sunday night. I'm very, very confused by this. It's okay.

First of all, confusion is a little upsetting at first, but once you get used to it, it's not too bad. Trust me. We're going to talk about why we're on Friday night here in just a moment, but let's introduce you to some people around the table to my right is my co-host and a man who's been very music intensive for the last few hours.

He is Chad. Welcome sir. Glad to be here with you sir.

Across from him is the official fact checker of the show and the man who completes the puzzle that I am now officially the only member of Clubhouse proper that does not work for the government. You may know him as fond Don go, but his mama name I'm Don Ford. I'm going to call him Don Ford.

Welcome sir. I'm done singing. I'm you know what promise?

Yeah. You swear. Yeah.

Okay. Yeah. I will neither confirm nor deny any feelings.

I have about that right now. I'll get the veal around soon. Oh wow.

Something about a frying pan on a fire. I can't bang my head against this microphone and have it paired up. Also joining us on the day is currently across from me as a friend of the show and a man who's who's discussion talents really kept this show afloat two weeks ago tonight.

Thank God. From that nerd show Marcus Blake is here. Welcome sir.

All right. Glad to be back. I did to have you back.

So we're on Friday night this week because we are covering our second of three film festivals for the month of April, which might be a record for us. This is a brand new film festival in Dallas. The first time ever for an environmental film festival is the Earth X film festival.

It's coinciding with the largest Earth Day celebration in the world that happens right here in Dallas for it worth this weekend. There's some already been showing some films. There's more films coming up as the weekend goes on.

Right now there's a big gala going on. We're live at Fair Park for those of you that don't live here. That is where the Texas State Fair is held every year, which we're in less than six months away from or right at six months.

It's an October. We're around my births away, right? Texas OU is during my birthday weekend usually.

Depending on who you ask, because some people say two. Yeah, or go yeah, we're around there. It's right by the cotton bowl, the original cotton bowl.

Yes, okay. We're also right by music college, Fair Park. We're gonna talk about that here in just a minute.

Well, here's the thing. I don't like talking so I gotta go. I'll be like walking.

Well, at least he's not singing. Well, that is true. Listening through the last couple of shows, I didn't have any corrections or updates unless you heard something I didn't, sir.

No, I did not. All right. We've got some people sitting down with us as we're waiting for people to come back from the gala sitting down, taking the dawn chair.

Friend of the show, Daniel Dirtis here. How are you, sir? How you holding up?

I'm sweating enough to be one of the busiest men around. And the sharpest dress person on the day is currently. Well, thank you sir.

Thank you, sir. So while we're waiting for some some friends of the show to arrive, others friends who have friends of the show here now, let's get into some TV headlines. I want to talk more cotton bowl.

Okay, let's talk cotton bowl. What do you want to talk about? My grandfather and father were part of the officiating staff at the cotton bowl for 27 years.

And during which time? Oh, God, man. 68 through dating the hell out of myself now.

I don't know. Like into the 90s. A 89 90 somewhere out there when my grandfather started to feel a little ill.

But I as a six year old child was at the Houston versus Notre Dame game on the sidelines when Joe Namath went in as an unknown backup. And basically got did the work to get drafted by the 49ers. Look at that.

You mean Joe Montana? When he wasn't. Joe Montana.

I say Joe Montana. He said Joe Namath. I was going to roll.

I said Joe Montana. I said Joe Montana. I'm going to say Joe.

I'm looking to roll with it. They're both great Joe's. Bocha this.

One of them one of them ran out of a super bowl pointing a finger in the air and the other one one more than he did. So it all kind of works out. But the other one did a sketchers commercial.

That is true. Yeah, did you see that? That was very uncomfortable recently.

I was always like is that a sketchers commercial going on right there? That's almost as bad as Rob Lowe's doing them now too. I was like Rob Lowe was doing sketchers commercials.

Yeah, but you know, even Tom Brady couldn't get guys to where a set is true. That's a fair point. But the the cotton bowl just a few more but with us two or three years with the big facelift.

The facelift really happened for the cotton bowl I think for the 94 world cup. Now I'm talking about recently though. They just recently done another facelift on it.

But they put some with the technology. Oh, that makes overhaul a couple of years ago. That does kind of make sense.

I went to that breakfast this morning with the secretary Perry and that's that's a beautiful little area up in there. This whole area fair park. I'm a huge fan of and then we might as well just talk about it.

Got an interesting email today. This is breaking news for as far as the show goes. As you guys know, Dallas Summer musicals is a partner of this show.

They're one of our vendors and we love the fact that they let us come see musicals and review them for you. Last year we covered the Texas high school musical awards for them. We did a pre show.

That's all we're backstage interviewing the winners. And we kind of floated something out there just to see where it would go. We didn't think it would really go anywhere until today.

Next month May 18th is the is this year's Dallas the Texas high school musical awards where kids come from all over the state. It's like a smaller version of the Tonys. It's a big deal.

The nominees come in on the red carpet with classic cars. Kids are dressed to the nines. Awards are given out.

They pack musical. Russ is in the chat room. Good to see you, sir.

This year there's a brand new award being sent and given out for social media and your boys are going to be presenting this award. Oh, that's awesome. We are presenting an award in Texas high school.

I want to come and cover y'all. Covering the best. It's like a meta thing.

We got to go deep. Looking into those infinity mirrors that they did in 70s. So we're going to be doing that next month May 18th.

So we're actually going to be doing the show live beforehand. Then we're going to go back to the green room so we can talk to the winners again. And then we're going to have to like put music on for a couple of minutes.

And you never know because it's a social media award. You never know how our social media is going to work into that. I'm just saying.

I do know how the green room is going to be though because they're high school students and they have shaperones. That's no real green room. That's a that's a blue and yellow room.

It has yet to become green. Wow. Some of you will get that.

It's some of you are you volunteering to be a bad guy. Volunteering to be a bad guy. No, that's that's called contributing to the okay.

All right. Allegedly. It's our favorite word on this show.

All right. Let's get into some TV headlines as the big headline from the week Bill O'Reilly getting removed from Fox News replaced by Tucker Carlson. Wow.

I'm not that I know even even exchange. But I I I am amazed because I mean you guys do it live all the time. And when you manage to leave the F bombs and that's true.

We'll do it live. We'll do it. Wow.

That was good. We'll do it next. Uh crap out of me.

Freeform has announced they've renewed shadow hunters for season three. So for both of you watching that show, congratulations. Sounds like an old Genesis game.

But isn't Shadowhairs isn't that based on that mortal bone city thing that movie they did a couple years ago? I'm pretty sure it is. Yeah, the Lynn Collins movie, right?

I think so. Yeah, there is one good thing about it though. It is definitely better than the movie.

Okay. Fair enough. I'm not saying the bar is very high.

And something that we talked about in pre-show that that Barcus is very excited about. Fox has renewed and for another season of the X-Files. Yes.

Season 11 is coming. Boulder and Scully are coming back. I wish I'd jump on board with that thing when it happened because I didn't.

I didn't. It totally passed. Well, I was speaking and speaking of a little X-Files news.

This is what happens when my co-host sends me stuff that ruins my Memorial Day weekend. Sort of. And it hasn't happened yet.

Yeah. There's a convention here in Dallas at the Sheraton Hotel, the Great Monitoring Convention. Which friends of the show Lady D.

Richards is going to be involved in. Right. But apparently the lone gunmen are coming down to doing a panel.

Really? Yep. They're going to be here.

They're going to be here at the lone gunman. Okay. Fair enough.

Would they have like that three episodes spin off? It did last the full season. Oh, did it go full season?

Yeah. But we actually, we suggested something for the lone gunman. We were talking about this week's sound of the apocalypse, which wins on our show.

And we were talking about the New York Daily Post sounding like the lone gunman newspaper with an article, you know. So it was really Brendan's idea is like, do you have to be a great show if the lone gunman kind of did like a daily show where they comment on real news and then tell you all the lies and filter through and bring about the conspiracies. So they're going to teach us about fake news.

Right. Thanks. I use people the only but there would be some bad news if that happened.

That means Alex Jones probably wouldn't have a show anymore. That's fair. Yeah.

That's fair. This scares me. Yeah.

From the smartest man alive department, we talked about it. It's now kind of fruition. It has been announced that next season season four of Star Wars Rebels will be the final season.

That hurts. Because this, well, this season they established the timeline. You can't go much farther with what they did this season.

They told you now exactly where they fit into the storyline. So you have a fine ideal. And I think one season is more than enough to establish themselves to that point.

I'm okay with it. Well, I think the bigger question about that is, you know, who who makes it out? Well, and you also have to understand this is Disney.

If you don't think they got three more things in a pipeline, you're out of your mind. Yeah. What's up next?

Jedi high. Don't put it past them. Hey, there is a great Star Wars fan film out there called Jedi House is the Jedi bird, you know, with animal house.

Oh, dear. Tatooine 90210. Let's see.

Oh, we've talked about this in pre-show that brand new season of MST3K has dropped on Netflix. One of the episodes will be dealing with stranger things. So now you've got two of my wonderful things coming together into one thing.

I've heard nothing but good things about this revival. If you love MST3K or 3000, you're going to love this. And if you don't, you're a communist.

I would agree. I think that's fair. I would agree.

Also, having Felicia Day and Pat and Allswald, two of the greatest nerds out there being on their own little ship, bringing it back to me. Yeah. You couldn't have asked for better people to do.

Well, they brought part of the Alamo Drafthouse's Master Pancake guys to actually be writers. For Mr. Gauvin's fairly deeply entrenched with.

Oh, yeah, all the way back to their cease and desist of Mr. Sinus 3000. Back to freeform for just a minute.

They are doing that new warrior series coming out. They have announced who the characters will be. Squirrel Girl, Mr.

Immortal, Knight Thrasher, and Speedball. They're going to do 10, 30 minute episodes that are coming next year. So as Disney decides, they're going to keep expanding the Empire.

That's where they're going. And a lot of people were like, Squirrel Girl's getting a show. Cool.

Like that's been the consensus. I think that anytime we see Mickey Mouse, he should always be followed by the Imperial March. Hey, you know what?

I for one welcome our overlords. I'm just saying. Is it just me or does Speedball sound like the the next product?

Eisenberg would have made it. I'm just saying. Ian McShane has said the script for the Deadwood Revival film has been turned into HBO.

And in his quote, we would all love to do it. Sir, get on the floor. You know, you're scaring me.

I don't like, I don't like the phrases, do it, ever coming out of the Swaringer's mouth. You know what? And that's actually that show is what introduced me to Ian McShane.

And I love that man. And I love everything he does. But it all goes back to Al Swaringer.

I don't care what you say. Well, I don't care what he does. It all goes back to Al Swaringer.

And that that show was so brilliant. I never wanted an overlord balcony until I saw that film. Now I want every house I have to have an overlord balcony.

And speaking of like revival shows, I still think this is much better than bringing prison back. We talked about that in free show too. My wife was a huge fan of the original run of prison break.

She has no desire to watch this at all. Do you think it's an age time has passed in her life. So she's become different therefore prison break.

But see, my wife has the most random tastes in films and television shows. So it could just be that's how she feels today. It's this like sometimes I'll walk through the bedroom because she likes to watch TV in the bedroom.

And I'll walk and I'll be like, and I'll just look at the TV and then I'll look at her and I look at the TV and I look at her. And she's like, yeah, it was on like that's usually the way it works. Look, we all have our trash TV.

Okay, I I'm freely admit on your podcast here that yes, I did watch dog the bounty hunter. Bad boy. And then when South Park made fun of it, that was way better.

Yes, right now. I was going to say you admitted to dog the bounty, but you shall vlog yourself, sir. You shall.

We all have our trash TV. Like right now, my current, great guilty pleasure. And I've said a hundred times on this show is Riverdale.

Riverdale is brilliant. I will, I will defend it. I do the guilt.

I've been binging vampire diaries. I don't think it's over. I sometimes watch teenage vampires.

So, uh, what's the next thing for you? Uh, gender reassignment? Yeah, wow.

Probably so shots returned. I think I think that happens in season six. Okay.

All right. I'm not there yet. Look, we call it like it is on that nerd show.

HBO has also announced that they are doing a new adaptation of Fahrenheit 451, uh, starring Michael Shannon and Michael B. Jordan. All right.

I'm intrigued by this. I love Michael B. Jordan at Hauss.

I do too. It's a Hauss. And I think that Michael Shannon is a great actor.

Michael Shannon is one of the great actors of our time. Let's just be honest with it. I mean, he's just one of those guys that I feel like he's acting, but he's not at the same time.

Like, I feel like if I ever met Michael Shannon, that would be the guy. And you know, well, at the Texas Film Awards this year, I did have the pleasure of getting to speak with Michael. All right.

And hang with him late. And somehow bounced into the, the, a real green room. And trust me at the Austin Film Awards, it's quite a green room.

So let's, I mean, what were your impressions of the man? Oh, dude, he's like, just very subdued, but holy cool. Like, I don't fish.

But if I did, that's the guy I want to go fishing with. Like, to me, he was the only good thing about nocturnal animals. Oh, yeah, without a doubt.

I mean, he got nominated for that film for a reason. Well, in the close, because Tom Ford, and as a nerd, I'm going to go ahead and say it. I thought he was a better Zod than Terence Stamp.

And that's hard for me to say. Oh, I know. You may have blasted me your nerd license got revoked.

Yeah. You just admitted to watching Vampire Diaries. Are you, are you, are you willing to say I had a nerd license?

That's never admitted that. All right. So Lock and Key has been a comic title that has bounced around for the better part of a decade.

It was going to happen as a series and then it wasn't and then there was going to be a movie and then there wasn't. Apparently now Hulu has ordered a pilot for the comic series Lock and Key. I like that series.

For when I did read it, I don't know if I want to, I don't know. I'm going to reserve judgment on this. I really am not educated on the subject.

It's, it's, do check it out. It's check out the, the wiki because I, we could try to describe it, but it would take us the whole show, but it's a really neat concept. Well, you know, a person I did see just kind of come into the room here and I know he was going to take over for me or one of the guys here.

Okay. Um, but being that y'all were talking all this X files stuff earlier, Brian Massey just walked through the doors. You know what?

And you know what? Let's ask him how he got his SAG card. Well, I know, and the earlier we get Brian in the show, probably the better off we are because the last time Brian was on the show, I don't know that Brian remembers.

He was on the show a couple of weeks ago. How you doing? It's great to see me again.

You're shates. Brother, how are you? I'm great.

How are you? Do you remember the last time you were on the show? Yeah, mainly.

You were the one in the middle. I remember you. Exactly.

Me and my trip. There were three of them. Yeah.

So we're, we're asking you how you got your SAG card? Yes, I was working. I just moved to Los Angeles and I had no agent, but I got a call from my manager, Daniel Slotick, producer of many great Dolph Longer movies.

And he said they need a Nazi. You can go to Long Beach and get to the Queen Mary. So I ran down there, they shaved my head, threw me a schwaastika outfit.

And David, the company was the coolest man I ever met. Isn't he really? He's very, he's the most soft spoken actor I've ever heard.

The boom guy, he's like, he's literally just trying to frame me. The boom is always almost in frame. He's like, I don't know what he's saying.

By the way, as a hardcore ex-files fan, that is one of the most underrated but fun episodes. Yeah, it's the whole like triangle. Right.

The whole reverse, like parallel universe thing. I love the fact that the smoking man is like a Nazi computer. Yeah, that was my first time.

It was a, I discovered what rain pay was. They were raining us with a rain machine. And he was there.

The smoking man. When he was there. Yeah, I was a fan too.

Like, oh my god. Oh, cool. I'll get my SAG card in this, you know.

So I was just trying to turn it off. And you know, that's something, I don't know that we've ever asked anybody on this show. And it's an interesting question.

As an actor, this is, you know, you're getting your first get to get your SAG card. How do you just pull yourself out of that moment of holy crap that's David Duke happening? Like, how do you get to that place?

Uh, you never do. Okay. Well, that's a good thing.

Yeah, because I follow my Instagram and I actually geeked out over him when they announced the ex-files. I run this whole paragraph and he still hasn't liked it. But I know that it was good.

I mean, are you constantly going, I have to be cool. I have to be cool. I have to be cool.

Or do you just kind of just throw yourself into the moment and pray to God it doesn't happen? I mean, I think it's a combination. I don't know that I could do that.

You mean the rejection factor? That's what we're talking about. No, the rejection, not only the rejection, but just the fact of like, I'm staring at this person who I've held on this pedestal.

And I, you know, I was constantly in my mind going, am I doing this right? Is he humoring me? He's very tall, you know.

That is very tall. And I mean, Jillian Anderson wasn't as friendly and I'm not saying anything wrong with that. But David Accomany was sitting around just talking to all of us as a group.

And we're all there in the Queen Mary. And that's the one day where they had the World War Two veterans touring the Queen Mary. And we're wearing German outfits.

Oh, I bet that went well. And so these guys were giving me the death stairs. I bet they were.

Hey, I got this an actor. I'm lucky to be here. I killed your top.

I killed you. Yes, yes, yes, you did. Yes, you did, sir.

But it was, uh, yeah, that's my ex-file story. David Accomany was super nice. That's awesome.

Yeah. And there's another project to do it again. Have you ever watched a triple ex-files?

And that's allegedly family show family show. Hey, hey, we were talking earlier about the Texas high school musical awards. And tying into that, the have announced these hosts for this year's Tony Awards.

And it will be one Kevin Spacey. Oh, he's hosting the Tony's this year. I'm not worthy.

Do I have to ask your time? Yes. Yes.

All right. So we go into a TV that will be available on DVD and Blu-ray this coming week. Uh, in case I know you're excited about this, sir.

And I'm just going to let you know now coming this week, the complete series for Power Rangers guy, Kosu Sentai Caringer. Just have just enough room for that on my show. I know you did.

I know you did. Also WWE Best of the 2000s. That'll be it.

You're right. So two bookings. All right.

Uh, some music news that we'll talk about while we're sitting here. Gorillas going to be embarking on a new North American tour this year. Good.

I like that stuff. I think I like how they actually do it live so it's still the characters. The line.

New that was coming. You knew that was going to happen. For those of you that still hold her in any kind of relevancy, Mariah Carey has resigned with epic records and we'll have a new album this year.

I don't know if she's promised to actually remember the words when she sings it. We're just going to call this album in coherent. And did you hear this news from Korn this week?

Robert Julio, bass player from Metallica, has a 12 year old son named Ty. Yes, I heard he is touring in South America with Korn right now because their bass players out for their calling personal family reasons. So this 12 year old kid is just out there with Korn touring South America.

And apparently he's a beast. Oh, no, they're saying that he's out there. There's apparently some YouTube footage out there right now that people are going, yeah, this kid's legit.

Wow. Yeah, it's like, yeah, my dad's in Metallica. I'm playing with Korn.

Life doesn't suck. That's all I'm saying. Uh, we've got, uh, we got, we're going to cover music and releases today and next week because we won't be doing a show on Sunday because we're doing the show tonight.

Uh, today, if K, if you haven't purchased them yet, Brad Paisley's Love and War releases today, Incubus returns with a brand new album. Oh, gosh. That's one of my cousin's favorite bands.

Americana from Ray Davies, formerly of the Kings. Yeah. And Robin Hitchcock releases a self-titled album, not the Coach of the Doll Star.

Bloodlines. No, that that would be. I'll drop a thing.

I'm sorry guys. I'm new to the show. And Cheryl Crowe with a brand new album called Be Myself.

Uh, next Friday, uh, Fist with a brand new album, not, not front of the show. That would be Foust. Uh, Pleasure.

The new Gorilla's album does release next week called Humans. John Mellon Camp. Because I guess he still got stuff to say.

Little Diddy. I'm not Jack Dagen. Telling American fools an amazing album.

Sad Clowns and Hillbilly's this today. Yeah. That's the name of his album.

Sounds like like 20s. I don't know what you had me at Sad Clowns, but Hillbilly's the great Julianna Hatfield releases a brand new album next week called Pussycat. Cassabian is back with for crying out loud.

Mary G Blanche. Yeah. He's great.

She's still around. Oh my. I've seen her live twice.

She's terrible. Newfound glory has returned with an album called Makes Me Sick, which oddly enough, right from Mary G Blanche. The cranberry.

Wow. The cranberries are back next week. Really?

Wow. If you haven't heard John Hauser sing his version of a certain song, I don't know. It's called something else obviously enough.

Uh, Thurston Moore with Rock and Roll Consciousness and Willie Nelson with a great name for a new album from him called God's Problem Child. So that's going to cover you. We are live right out the Earth X Film Festival.

The world's largest Earth Day celebration this week happens right here in Dallas at Fair Park. Last year, over 130,000 people visited Fair Park over the Earth Day weekend. I'm sure that there's a lot going on.

I mean, I'm looking at the event guide. You could kill a mule with this thing. It's so thick.

And I was just flipping through it. There's a lot going on. They're basically taking over Fair Park.

So if you're in the Dallas Fort Worth area, come on down. It's going to happen all weekend long. There's a lot of great films that are being shown right now.

There's a bunch of people at the Gala. We're hoping to catch some of them if they come here to the after party. We are at the Magnolia Lounge located over by Music Hall.

So there's stuff going on all day tomorrow, all day Sunday, celebrating Earth Day, take care of your planet. We're going to talk more about that as the show goes on. Well, we do have our resident NHL visitor to the show with us.

So we should probably talk a little bit of a hackie. That would be one Marcus Blake, who's not really having a good time with the NHL right now. But you know what?

Your Black Hawks had a great season. Black Hawks, you can't go black Hawks. The man's Chicago.

Dallas stars, baby. We have a new coach, new old coach, but we can talk about that for a minute. Is it a weird kind of a karmic balance that they remove Lindy Ruff and replace him with all I think of that last week?

I think it's karmic balance, personally, because I could never get used to Lindy Ruff coaching this team, but I still can't get used to Ken Hitchcock with no mustache. He's no kangaroo. He's no Captain Kangaroo.

Yeah, it's true. But Marcus, I mean, you're a resident hockey guy. But you know, but again, your Black Hawks had a good season.

Look, every dynasty ends. It does. You know, when a dynasty ends, I mean, you know, age takes over.

It's just like, I saw the Black Hawks just get old every night. They were outskated. They, you know, no defense.

And yeah, it sucks. It happens. I mean, the great New York Islanders finally got beat by the, you know, the Oilers back in the 80s.

Yeah. But to me, the Stanley Cup playoffs are the only of the major sports where your seating means nothing. Home ice means nothing.

That's why I love the NHL playoffs because it's not one of those you've got a clear cut person that's going to win the thing. Like every night is a struggle in the NHL playoffs. They're my biggest observations about the playoffs.

And you're right about that because I mean, they talk right into the things, sir. The Kings, you know, when they're Stanley Cup being like the bottom seat, both times. But the other thing is it's this divisional playoff format when they change things up instead of it being like one versus eight.

Well, why should you have to have that like that? Metropolitan division. Well, I understand that.

But all your division teams are like duking it out and beating each other up in the first couple of rounds before some of these matchups don't belong in the first round. These are like Western Eastern, Eastern Conference. You know, I agree.

But yeah, I mean, it sucks to have your team swept and it happens. But I mean, I'm not going to sit there complying too much because I've seen three Stanley cups one in the last years. Indeed, indeed.

And they were talking about this on one of the radio shows I listened to. And they were saying that you know, has the craziest overtime rule ever, Australian rules football. Now, I don't know if you know how their championship game works.

No, it's actually happened twice in the modern era in their championship game. If it ends in a tie and they go to overtime and overtime ends in a tie, they wait a week and play the whole game again. Oh my god.

Yeah, it's happened twice in the modern era. I'm like, could you imagine if the NFL did that? Like we're coming to your town, but you're going to need to block off an extra week.

Right. Just in case it sounds like a cricket match. Those things can go in place solid.

I respect people that play cricket because any game that can say we're now in day two. That's a problem for me. Hey guys, that's monopoly.

Yeah. Right. That's why I don't play.

I got your boardwalk. Yeah, brother or just all winds up upside down on the floor because somebody gets mad and locks up. Well, I mean, I do love the fact that you have continuous overtime for 20 minutes.

That's why I love the NHL playoffs because we all remember 99 where when the Dallas stars wanted and it was like every other game was double and triple overtime. Right. And you're in a bar and they're lining up sodas on the bar because they've already called last call, but we're not closing until the game is over because they're playing a west coast.

Nobody went home. It's already after two and you know, it's like, are you going to take beers away from angry hockey fans? No, we're just not going to we can't serve you another one legally, but we're not going to close this bar to this game is over.

And that's why I love because you play until there's a winner. Yeah. That's why I love the shoot.

Yeah, the shootout's just stupid. Not a fan of the shootout. No.

You play until there's a winner. And that's just the way I especially. Yeah, I mean, you go until it's done.

And that's why I love the NHL playoffs every year because you got me and then it's like, Oh, by the way, we're doing this all again tomorrow. You know, and you're just like, I'm on like four hours of sleep and I'm back. I mean, they have started to give like more days off between the games.

I like, you know, it's not like baseball where you are playing so many days in a row, but what's wrong, sir? I just stumbled across the story that you were referring to a little gin or so. Oh, yeah, she wasn't handing them out to everybody.

Oh, okay. She was handing them out. Well, let's let's let's do the setup here because we're up to movie talk.

Well, we'll go ahead and talk about now. Star Wars celebration was his past weekend. And there was a young lady who was cosplaying Jen Erso from Rogue One.

And she was walking around to different people on the floor giving away death star plans. But apparently there was a limit to it. She was handing out the death star plans to every woman cosplaying his princess, Leah.

Nice. That's different level. Well played.

Nice. Well played. Nice.

Well played. She saw that on Gizmodo. I'm looking at this picture of this so beautiful.

I mean, she's like maybe seven, eight years old. The Jen Erso is. Okay.

This is so key. So you brought up Star Wars and we were talking. I mean, we're into movie talk now so we can talk about it.

I didn't mean to, I didn't mean to derail anything. No, no, you're fine. But we're, but we're nerds.

So we have to talk about the trailer that was released last week, which to me like when this happened and we talked about this in pre-show, one of my co-workers just came to my desk and was like, Hey, have you seen it? And I was like, seen what? He goes, the trailer's up.

And I'm like, what trailer? He goes, episode eight. And I'm like, excuse me.

Like, there was no, Hey, this is about to happen. Get your popcorn ready. It was just there.

All of a sudden. And then with it was in 10 minutes, it was just everywhere. Right.

I mean, you were watching it as that happened live. Yeah, I do live. Yeah, I was, I was keeping up with the panel because I knew they were like, I'm sorry, doctor, I heard a loud pop and then nothing.

And we were at the free fire screen tonight before you heard my complaint. I was never bail. I was never bail.

I was like, we've had four billion trailers and one episode eight trailer. And then it just happened. And it was just, again, people were like, somebody actually said to me, how can a teaser be a trailer?

I said, because it's still a trailer. It's just a teaser. And it was a teaser.

And it's everything that I wanted it to be. And it's keeping me motivated. I walker actually speak.

Yes. And when he speaks, it's so profound. And then he leaves that great ominous line at the end like, what excuse me?

I'm still I'm still throwing it out there because I really felt that Kylo Ren was kind of a whiny bag in the first one. I think he kills Snowpin. He becomes that like that's what gives him to the ultimate like evil guy.

He has to be because he's a spoiler. She got right. Oh, the theory.

Oh, snow. He's a snow. Are you smoking me?

Come on. He's debunking a miffon line. He does want to be like his grandfather.

So whiny little bitch, you know, oh, hey, Darth Vader's a mega million mega villain. Yeah, when he's in the man, as you know, Sam gets everywhere. He's irritating.

Outside of his last line and Rob one because I didn't think we needed the you should keep your head about you. Like, no, that's not what you heard about. And it's not about Gibson.

And he knows James Earl Jones getting older and doing that voice. James Earl Jones will live forever. He will.

He has to live forever because he's James Earl Jones. Yes, of course. Speaking of Guardians, because it's coming out next week.

Did you see this with James Gunn said this week? He's already five post credit scenes in this film. Yeah, I don't.

What? He said there's five of them. It's a record.

Now, when we get to screen it, will we see all five? I'm not putting a lot of money on it. But he also said that he will return to write and direct volume three, which he says will be the last one of the Guardians as you know them.

Uh-oh. Because there's been multiple versions of Guardians. Yeah, you know what that probably.

No, I mean, it doesn't really mean anything because it's one of those teams that rotates around. So you could have other Guardians come in because you also have to think of when the Guardians of the Galaxy were actually created was post infinity gauntlet. Yeah, that's true.

And I don't know if you saw the picture that they leaked out this morning from the filming of Infinity War. Um, I guess I guess you could say spoiler alert and three, two, don't say the one. Uh, the picture that was that was sent out via Twitter is of a vision in Scarlet Witch in their first embrace.

So you are going to get okay. So I wouldn't say that's really a spoiler as much, but it's there. Chris Pratt said that as well.

He's in everybody. He's in all that right. Everybody.

He has a star or his hands in the ground in Chinese today. Yes, he got to start the walk of him today. Yes.

Thank you for reminding me that because I saw that in pre-show that we'll play too. Congrats Chris Pratt. And a great story about him.

I didn't know how deep his faith ran. There's a great story that's out there that he did on Instagram of how he and a friend of his made a full-size metal cross and hauled it up a hill and planted it on Easter Sunday. So respect to him.

And also, I don't know if you guys have heard this, but they're saying between infinity war and what they're calling part two, the budget between those two will be a billion dollars. Not surprised. I'm billion.

So when you say respect to him, do you mean Jesus or Chris Pratt? Both. Okay.

Both. Okay. So they're speaking as Chris Pratt.

Yeah. Pratt Pratt Pratt on Instagram. Right.

Right. By the way, when they did the last Josh Gad thing with Daisy Ridley, where it's like all of these people, I mean, I understand that JJ Abrams being the guy. Does Luke get to speak in this, you know, being funny at the end?

But really, I thought Chris Pratt kind of stole that whole thing. I think I can answer this. I am in Guardians of the Galaxy.

Yes. And I'm ready for that movie in two weeks. Oh.

Yeah, I'm excited too. I should be ready. He, him and Ron Swanson made Parks and Recreation.

I mean, nothing against, you know, Leslie Knope and Amy Puller, but yeah, he's one of the biggest reasons that Parks and Recreation was just funny. He's just great. I'm so happy.

Don will be happy to know that it was revealed this week that Pirates 5 will feature the Kira Knightly. She is in the film. Great.

She has so much to that. For Don, she does. So respect Don's crush.

She's still hot. And that's what Russ actually put something in the chat room that we've got on the run. She, but we'll go ahead and talk about it.

Rampage has begun filming. Be filmed based on the video game. Oh, wow.

And it's Malin Ackerman is in it. It has an official release date of April 20th of 2018. So we are 364 days away from a movie based on a video game about monster's destroying things.

The rock going to be George and his male and Ackerman going to be Lizzy. So she's actually the person that runs the lab that creates the monster. So who is rock?

He's going to fight the horse. They haven't said yet of what who he's playing. He's not a monster.

He's very well-cooked. Probably he's the rock. He can be whatever he wants.

He can be whatever he wants. He's the only reason I might even see that day watch movie. Oh, yeah.

That movie. No, there's another reason to watch that film. Oh, sorry.

Family show. Family show. Family show.

I'm just saying, Alexandra D'Dario is very how you doing. So I'm saying. So Disney now on this kick where they're taking all of their movies, especially now that Beauty and the Beast has made a bazillion dollars worldwide.

One of the ones that they're doing a live-action Aladdin. What's weirder from this week's headlines about that? That Will Smith is in talks to play the Genie?

No. Or you have another choice. Jack Black.

Or that it's being directed by Guy Ritchie. What? No!

This is a desanegal Mike. The best danger is going to the Mike. It's like, it's weird enough that he's doing King Arthur, but he's also doing Aladdin.

This is very, am I living in a bizarre world? New way. Rob, I can answer this.

Mike comes from the World Series and it broke his FaceTime continuum. That's what happened. I apologize again for everything.

Russ says that Rock is playing the zoologist in a rampage. Ah, thank you, Ray. Okay, that sounds right.

That sounds right. He's going to fight the monsters. Leslie Agams has said she is returning for Deadpool 2.

Yeah. So she was a lady that played his blind roommate. And Jess Rollins is blind now.

Yeah. Yeah, we didn't really talk about the Josh Brolin thing enough. He is now the second person across the street.

Uh-huh. Because Chris Evans, who played the human torch and then goes on to play Captain America. Now, wrong, which is wrong.

But it's different companies, though. I know, but it's still wrong. So is it.

But the Disney has a rule that once you play a role, that's your role. You don't ever get another role within their universe. So technically, that doesn't count.

But now Josh Brolin playing Thanos. And now he's playing Cable in Deadpool 2. So now he's, I was surprised that I'd like to see the loophole that he had because you would think Disney would be like, uh, no.

But he's doing it. I still think that the guy in the wheelchair in, uh, into the badlands should be playing Cable. Stephen Lane.

Stephen Lane, yeah. Stephen Lane's is my favorite character. He's, to me, that's Cable.

Well, and if you want to see a preview of him like being Cable, then you can actually rewatch Avatar. Yeah. Yeah, right.

Because he's really the... But you know what, that would require. Oh god.

We getting through Avatar the first time, which is not going to happen. Hey, hey, hey, I have a better suggestion. Why don't we just watch dances with wolves again?

I like dances with wolves. I'm a fan of that. To Tonka.

And we don't, yeah, and we don't need blue people to talk to the story. Uh, the directors of... Tonka.

Dumbair. Dumbar. The directors of Mississippi Grind, uh, Anna Bowden and Ryan Fleck are going to be directing the Captain Marvel film with the Brie Larson.

Ooh, I love Brie Larson. Did you see those mockups of her, of her in the suit? And I'm absolutely on board with it.

I'm totally on board with it. I mean, they're obvious. If I can't get Tady Sack off to play this role, I'm okay with Brie Larson playing this role.

Especially, you know, we talk about Brie Larson. What drops today? Free fire.

Uh, great movie. Wonderful film. If you've got it anywhere near you in a theater, go see this movie this weekend.

Give this movie the love it deserves. I actually read an IMDB, because all of it takes place in one warehouse. Have you seen it yet, Brian?

No, let's move it again. Free fire. Free fire.

I have not seen it yet. Charlottetopely, Army Hammer, Brie Larson. It's basically the last 20 minutes of reservoir dogs as a 90-minute film.

It's about a, it's a, it's a, it's, face in 1978 Boston, where an illegal arms deal goes horribly wrong. And it all takes place in this warehouse. I found out this, this past week that the director designed the warehouse in Minecraft before he did it.

Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha. And I also said in my resume that when you said that, when the bullets start flying, it reminded me, you remember American Gladiators had that game called The Gauntlet, where you would have to go to different stations to get a weapon? That's what the warehouse set up reminds you of, because they're all dodging and going back and forth between things.

It's a wonderful film. It doesn't even go 90 minutes. It's one of those, it knows exactly what it is, and it's nothing more than it has to be that.

And I mean, Marcus and I got the screen at last week. It is wonderful. It's hilarious.

And Charlottetopely steals the show like he does in every movie. I mean, I remember how funny he was, you know, playing Murdock. I love that film.

I don't care what anybody says. I love that film. No, if you're going to make a movie version of a beloved TV show, then that would be...

You know how do you use a microphone, sir? Yeah, it was absolutely great. Yeah.

I... There's nothing about that film I didn't love. I mean, Bradley Cooper as the face man per...

Yeah. Yes, he is. Bradley Cooper's team.

That's a handicap spot. But yeah, free fire is... Okay, free fire.

It's really... And take out, it's stuck in the middle with you and put in John Denver's Annie song. It's really...

Right, I know. I didn't even mention that in my review. It was like the most ridiculous song ever of their shooting.

It's so, so good. And I really hope that movie makes up a million dollars. Let's see what else...

Oh, then this comes down today in the wake of... Fate of the Furious, being the biggest international opening of all time. Apparently, Statham and Dwayne's characters are getting a spin off?

That makes sense. Like, tango and cash. I mean, you can put Dwayne in anything that's going to make money.

Yeah, yeah, Dwayne is getting... I do get it after seeing that film. And I'm kind of glad to kind of full circle with Jason Statham's character and...

Yeah, how he kind of... See, I bailed halfway through Tokyo Drift and haven't watched one since. Right.

So... All I know is that at one point the rock kicks a missile. That's like, that's all I know.

No, it's ridiculous. And, you know, the whole plot about this movie about, you know, why Dom becomes a traitor or what, you know, everything. It...

It is what it is. I didn't think it's like a great movie. I mean, like for us, it'd be, you know...

But that franchise, again, it's one of those franchise that it knows what it has to be. It knows who it's audiences. And it is exactly that.

And I'm not down on the franchise. I just feel like I'm so far behind it's going to take me too much of my personal time to get caught up. But Jason Statham's real...

his best part was, I mean, no spoilers if you haven't seen it. But when he's rescuing the baby and having a conversation with the baby, well, he's drop kicking someone and because he doesn't want the baby... Because he's Jason Statham?

Right. Because he doesn't want the baby to hear curse words or violence. He puts headphones with great music and the baby's just all smiles.

It's like, it steals the show. It's like, you know, commercials with puppies that you're just going to smile at. I was actually listening to an interview with Kevin Pollock once.

And he was saying that one of the easiest persons to learn how to do in a personation of is that Jason Statham. Because with Jason Statham, you only need to know six words. Do you know what I mean?

So if you go, do you know what I mean? Then you've got Jason Statham down. Right.

I want to rip you head off. I want to put your arms back in a different order than they were. You know what I mean?

Then you're done. You're good. You know.

Yeah, but Jason Statham also has one of the best lines in the movie with Blitz. When he beats the guys up with a curling bat nut, this is a curling bat. If you don't know what curling is, it's a cross between hockey and murder.

Yeah, pretty much. And for the Irish out there, and you know what this for is, yes, that's exactly what it is. That's the perfect way to do that.

You're dang right there. Am I Jason Statham? Here we go.

Oh, I'm Jason Statham. I just said you're going. I just said you're going.

But you're going to make, you know what I mean? There you go, you're going to do it. You're all done.

I don't like policies. I don't like policies. I don't like them.

The Fast and the Furious series is like, how much more do we really need? There are schedules for 10 right now. The current contract is for 10 total films.

Okay. But we're also, we also live in a world where there are schedules for 14 transformers and nine power Rangers films. So, take that for what you're paying for it.

But at least we got Star Wars. Yeah, exactly. Star Wars will rescue us all.

I need to know, be one trilogy. Apparently, there's been some bidding wars going on with the Bond franchise that I wasn't aware of. Okay.

Yeah. Yeah, this one came out of nowhere. A strange player has entered the game when it comes to the Bond franchise.

And when I read the headline, I had to stop and read it like three times because I was like, do they have the clout? I don't see how they can afford it. Currently, yes.

No, oh, no. Oh, yeah, baby. Yeah.

But currently, your front runner to take the rights of the Bond franchise is Anna Pernah Pictures. Let it sink in. Yeah.

Anna Pernah Pictures is your current player to get the Bond franchise, which is like, I didn't think they had that kind of clout. But we also don't know what the selling price is. Yeah, because you're getting ready for Bond 25, which I still don't know why Daniel Craig, even though he's contracted for that one, you do 25.

It's the 25th one. But, you know, he's the guy got a wife and kids now and he's got that going for him, which is nice. And there's been so much conjecture as to who's going to pick up the role.

I personally am not okay with Loki. Well, you heard what Barbara Broccoli. You heard what Barbara Broccoli said about him, that he's too smug to play James Bond.

Who, you talking about Craig? Or are you talking about Barbara Broccoli? I've said that about the guy that plays Loki.

About Loki. Tom Hiddleston. Tom Hiddleston.

I don't know that he's smug. He's Loki. Like, that's, I can't see him as Bond, but I also couldn't tell you right now in the current parlance of actors who I would put in that role.

Oh, I can. Because we debate this on that nurture. Okay, here we go.

Our favorite Michael Fassbender. We want Michael Fassbender. I don't, and it could be the way I've always seen him shot in films.

Right. He seems too short. That's my thing with Fassbender.

He seems short to me. Yeah, but if you under, but again, if you go back to, you know, and we live in a world where we can make Tom Cruise look six feet tall. Right.

So how short is this guy? Yeah, but Bond is not supposed to be over six foot. I mean, he's really old.

But he's still, he just, he still has that presence, though. And to me, Fassbender doesn't have that presence. Oh, he does with us.

I mean, that we, I mean, I respect your opinion. Don't get me wrong. No, I, I, I can't.

But I don't anybody else. I mean, you think, you think about like, you know, great, like British actors or anybody that can kind of pull this off. I mean, the only other one really out there is Henry Cavell, who was up for the role in 2006.

I don't know that you all be. Please, Brian, give us your input. Tom Hardy.

You know what? First of all, you put Tom Hardy in anything, and I'm happy. Right.

Taboo was Tom Hardy. Jason, did you get to, did you get to watch Taboo? Yeah, this is good.

That final episode where it all came together, I was like, this is some of the most gangster stuff I've ever seen on Taboo. Tom Hardy's brutish, he's got the role. And he could do it just, you know what?

The physicality. He's got it down bad. Yeah, he definitely has the physicality.

But I always see him as, like, as a villain. Yes. And I think he'd be a great bond villain.

I'd be a great, yeah. Like, he'd almost have to win. I'll do the show, but, you know, you don't have to win.

I could honestly take them back. If you were, if you remade Golden Eye, I could actually see him as Alex Trevein, you know, I love that movie so much. I agree.

It's one of my top three Bond movies. Oh, yeah, I'm right there with this one. I have it all back.

I'll tell you right now what my top three are. I, out of the Connery ones, I'm not all about gold, gold finger, like everybody else, from Russia with love. Yes, we're a big fan of that film.

Yeah, I'm not a big gold finger fan. If it's, the gold finger was so over the top, even for Bond, even for James Bond. I even, I even thought Thunderbolt.

And I'm talking about the original Thunderbolt. Yeah, not, not the song, not the film we don't talk about. Yeah, but out of Daniel Craig, it's Skyfall.

Skyfall is the best. Skyfall, two-thirds Bond, two-thirds Bond, one-third Home Alone. Exactly.

And then, of course, Golden Eye. Which really wasn't the one you're going to say Moon Raker now. I brought you more, but it doesn't have the best line.

I thought he was trying to bring entry. Actually, one of my favorite lines in the Bond films comes from On Her Majesty's Secret Service in the very beginning when everything's going wrong and lashing these walking out of the water. And he looks at the camera and says, never happened to the other guy.

And I was like, well, played, sir. Yeah, well played. But you know, Golden Eye was really meant for, it was supposed to be the third film for Timothy Dalton, too.

Right. And it's always usually the third one, where bad for Timothy Dalton. Because he wasn't, he wasn't my bad.

But he had to have known that the only reason he had the role is because of the fight that Pierce Brosnan was having with NBC, because as the story goes, as the story goes, that's why he couldn't take the role, because NBC said, we have your rights for Remington Steel. Well, they see this. It was NBC.

NBC canceled that show after one season. And so then he sued NBC because of it. And then he still ended up getting the Bond role.

But he's also the one guy, because there's one rule about playing James Bond. When you play James Bond, you are not allowed to wear a tuxedo in another film. Reference to Thomas Crown Affair.

Yes. How he got around it was he wore the bow tie around his neck. It was untied.

So technically, he wasn't wearing the entire tuxedo and avoids the claws. Because Pierce Brosnan's smart guy. He's got something coming out pretty soon, too, doesn't he?

He's got the sun. The sun, the sun. That's right.

I saw him pimping that the other day on Instagram. I just don't know. It's going to have to be somebody that we haven't seen playing the role.

Right, I agree. What about the the actor from the black actor from... Idris Elba?

Yes. I love Idris Elba. I'm not giving it to him.

But he's not as James Bond. I would like, like, if you want to make him 008 or another agent with him. But I'm okay to have him in the films, just not in that particular role.

Look, I've been saying this, and I know this pisses the PC people off, but I'm going to say that. Okay. No, I look.

Because of what James Bond is and all that, they're not going to... James Bond is not an African American. It's just not to...

It's not how the character is. Like I said, you could make him any other character in this fear of that. I wouldn't even...

Oh, no, Felix is American. But I'll be okay with him if he... Because the guy can do an American accent.

But make him a different agent that maybe works with Bond. I'm okay with that. But just because, you know, Felix has already been an African American in Jeffrey Wright.

Well, the other... That's what I'm saying. That's what I went through.

But the other problem too is he's also about the same age as Daniel Craig. He's too old to take the role. And he doesn't want it.

Right. He doesn't want it. You know, for a long time.

And you know what? I found out about him recently. He is huge in Europe as a DJ.

Yeah. He... Idris Elba, like...

He plays multi-bejillion-dollar gigs like in Paris and all over Europe. I had no idea. I came up on Jeopardy a couple of weeks ago.

I was like, Idris Elba's a DJ? Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah.

Fair enough. Man, it made a challenge. He's an American.

For his Stranger Bell, one of the greatest villains in the history of television. Oh, Lord. The wire.

Jim Gaffigan is right. If you saw his last comedy... I love Gaffigan.

There is no way... There's no right way to tell people you haven't watched the wire. You just...

A man, shall I write? Right. And one of my co-workers, he's just like...

He's actually going back and watching it again with his wife, because his wife didn't watch it the first go around. And he goes, it's an amazing thing about that show. It's amazing how much you forget until you go back and watch it again.

The little details. And really, you can pick almost any movie or television show. I would say that there's about a 90% success rate right now.

And you can find somebody in that show that was on the wire. I mean, that task is everywhere. You've got Oscar winners in that cast.

Which, you know, and some guys that really should be doing more Dominic West, in my opinion, than they're doing. How this guy hasn't had a bigger career. But the guy that played Bunk is like everywhere.

He's in every other show you watch. And the wire is just one of those lightning and a bottle shows. I didn't really dig the way it ended.

But when you can change... It's kind of classic for HBO if you think about it. Right, but again, but when you take a show of the first two years, and then seasons three, four, and five, you completely change the story and the players.

And it's still just as good. But at the same time, you like the way the shield ended, right? No, I didn't.

There's one way that show should have ended, and it didn't. Right, you think he got out too easy. I think Mackie got away just by being alive.

Right. Well, spoiler alert from a decade ago. Right, that's how I feel about Dominic West's character, McNulty.

McNulty had a time. Well, right. He should have, but, you know...

I said, hey, here's a homeless guy. Get in the car, let's go home. Right.

We're basically going to kick you out. There's nowhere else for you to go, despite you actually turning out to be a pretty good cop. But, yeah, I mean, no.

I did not like the way the shield ended. But, but also, I don't know. Like, those last three episodes, there were a lot of really good twists to it in the shield that it kind of didn't upset me as bad as it could have, but I was still like, come on, man.

Like, rescue me had a better ending, you know? I love that show. Oh, such a great show.

Well, the Sun's Van Arkey had a much better ending, and it ended the way it should have. I mean, that's been off as coming what next year? Yeah, um, you know what, I'm on the fence about it.

As much as I love Sun's Van Arkey, and I went back and started binge watching it again, and- My wife did the same thing recently. Yeah, because I mean, for everybody, by the way, because I will still bring this up, where's Dodd? I don't know, we're done.

Okay, for everybody that complains that the Force Awakens is too much like episode four. Episode six is like episode four. Okay, so is episode one.

Right, but here's the thing. If you complain it's too much like, you know, something else that you love, well, guess what? Sun's Van Arkey is just hamlet.

They make so many jokes about it. Like, you know, uh, Ellie Walker's, uh, uh, you know, ATF agent, calling Jack's the Prince. That's like one of the- One of the best lines I ever heard uttered by an audience in a theater was in the Mel Gibson Hamlet, in the moment where his mother kisses him.

It's like, I mean, you could have heard a cat pee on cotton from 50 yards out. She kisses him and one person in the theater just goes, you. And it was like the whole rest of the theater was like, oh, I was kind of thinking it, but okay.

That and the first time I saw Batman, it was the midnight showing the day it came out. And I mean, this theater where I lived is by the mall. It's about the 89.

89. Okay, that in midnight show, Batman played in every theater in this eightplex because there were so many tickets bought. And I mean, it was packed to the gills.

And in the second, in the moment where Kim basing her says that, we can learn to love each other. One guy, one guy, and the entire theater yells at least twice a week. I at that point like the next five minutes in that film, I don't even remember killing it.

Because everybody was laughing so hard. Batman. But yeah, I mean it those are the two best movie lines I've ever heard said by the scene.

What is Batman doing in the bathroom? Okay, Batman. It comes in the hook.

Here comes a hook from Steve Wright. Well played. No, no, no, no, you guys consider streaming content part of your TV.

Absolutely. Oh, we talked about MST3K Well, I know, but sometimes they separate streaming and I still haven't watched the second part of the get down But I've heard it's very very good. Well, I'm still stuck in the middle of Jessica Jones Yeah, I haven't started well They they also dropped little teaser trailer and photos from the Defenders.

I know that that came down. No, that's not where you're going Is it no you know where I'm going? Yes, I do bloodline That's not what I'm talking about either.

What are you talking about? Cloak and dagger They did release photos from the set of that this one. Oh, that's not but that's not Netflix though, is it?

It's not that the that the Dabney Coleman Although I played the crap out of that video game, which makes me want basically on the on the on the Marvel Which makes me wonder was that what our guest from a couple of weeks ago might have been referring to when he said he was in down filming a Marvel project Might it have been cloaking no because what they were cool. Yeah, yeah, that's this untitled X-Men series. That's being pitched.

Yeah No cloaking dagger. I want to say is in full production right now Well, that's what I'm saying like no, he was filming the pilot for this. I think that it's a called next I think is the name of it It's about X is an empty V show about dating.

Oh, but next, but it's it's about a set of parents whose kid they find out has Powers and so they go on the run because the government's coming after the kid That's what that's about. It's got to be better than Legion was, but Legion upset me Well, if you want to know how how the season of Legion ends here's what you need to know go watch the Denzel movie fallen And that's the final episode of Legion. That's all you need to know.

I love Aubrey Plaza I was I was only bringing a bloodline because it's been one of those highly rated Netflix shows With you know, Kyle Chandler. Oh, yeah, yeah, you're friend of the show Glenn Marshal was also there That guy and I didn't like the idea that he played a bad guy, but he was good. He's always good though And technically on Supergirl he was kind of a bad guy.

Well, but oh, I'm saying is last final season You know everything's coming undone and the witness of that show has been Ben Mendelssohn is the brother and He's coming back as like this ghost like figuring you know talking to Kyle Chandler, and he's just Incredible, and can I say we talk about the more shower interview from a few weeks ago. I Have never seen this man to my right Just absolutely destroyed the way more shower did to him when he said his line from undersea It's like you were a puddle on the floor at that moment I was like really from that film because okay, I mean, I know I know the situation surrounding it You were in the Navy and you were with your buddies, but it was just like of all the films I could have picked that really would have just knocked you out like that was the one. It's not counting dark territory because we don't We're not in that sequel, but Just when he said that what we'll see what we're going to see and I thought you were gonna I was like do we need to get the paramedics over?

I had just watched it the night before oh really I didn't know still the best even so go Absolutely, but it broke it broke the motif though because if you look at the movies leading up to it They were all three word titles with an article in the middle But it was hard to kill marked for death above the law and then it was like under siege Okay, you're breaking the theme here, dude because I was still three syllables like you know hard to kill I was one of my favorites. Yeah, because when he writes was that was No, that was marked for death Because spoiler alert from 20 years 25 years ago that was when they turned out to be the twins Yes, was it hard to kill was when they came into his house at the end because he got they thought they killed him But he was like in a coma right was with Kelly LeBrock. They were married at the time at the end where they're he's they're trying to find him in the house And he's written on blood on the wall anticipation of death is worse than death itself I'm like 15 I'm like that is I was a huge fan about for justice.

I'm for just as good like that was Look right behind All of his movies are good for what they are, but under siege is definitely his best It was there was something a little bit extra. Well, plus you had a really good director involved with that because that guy went on to direct the fugitive Andrew Andrew Davis Yeah, it is Davis Again, I like the film don't get me wrong. He just broke them of teeth.

Yeah Nobody beats me in the kitchen Did you just turn it to nobody makes me bleed my own blood? I do I do love that film. I do love I don't care.

I don't shame I love that at least that wasn't weird Tommy Lee Jones, all right get him up there. We go. That's my Tommy Lee Jones is not very good Explanation on why he's doing what he's been is because he didn't get to contribute to the 60s That's genius.

Yeah, but you know for Tommy Lee Jones reason I love the fugitive is because they parodyed it and that tiny tunes how I spent my spring break When she's when Elmira has determined that buster is the Easter bunny and so she enlists Tommy Lee Jones and he's like I do Don't forget and then she goes I have Harrison Ford in the kitchen Pass the table he's not slithering he is gliding sir the great Raymond Garcia who I've known it's right He's now the admiral that this is a I call him admiral one day and I don't know why I did but I did but it's stuck He is now known as the admiral Admiral Garcia put the right jacket on him. He looks like Captain Crutch Wow Chad Womacley gentleman. He's got the white facial here.

We've direct all hate mail to Chad of the clubhouse podcast I'm just saying he's got the white facial hair rocking. He's a friend of the show and we're huge fans of it We are here at the X Film Festival They got the galah going on across the fair park a lot going on this weekend if you're in the Dallas Fort Worth area Come down to fair park. There's gonna be a ton of people here That's why it takes all of fair park to pull this together last year over 130,000 people came to this event This is also the first year that they've been a film festival in conjunction with it Part of it the tie-in was Tuesday night for born in China the brand new Disney nature film I was there for the screening of it.

You can see my review up right now at www.theclubhousepodcast.com That is our website. Thank you for being there for me John Krasinski narrates and when you you first hear John Krasinski's narrating something It actually it works really really well. He does a great job.

It takes place over a year There's four different animals feature. There's a panda and her cub There's a snow leopard and her two cubs There's a group of news good news GNU no no good news is good news with Gary cano and there is also a family of monkeys And it's really really fun. It's really well done It gets kind of serious towards the end But Disney nature.

I'm a huge fan of this is their 10th film. I really enjoyed this film the book of that series does tend to have a really serious There's some somberness to it. Yeah point to it at some point maybe and maybe I don't know if monkey kingdom did I don't remember it being We're doing what we're doing we're doing something right now.

Okay, we're doing something right now Don tells me We got headphones for you right there. Okay, we're apparently we're doing this quickly. Please introduce yourself to our audience Okay, okay, okay, don's giving me signals go ahead and introduce yourself to our audience sir my name is Finnie and make peace One of the co-founders have kissed the ground and tell our listeners about kissed the ground Kiss the ground is a nonprofit out of Venice, California that works to tell the news story of agriculture How we can change how we do agriculture from degenerative to regenerative and actually pull Billions of tons of carbon out of the atmosphere and turn it into healthy beautiful soil that saves water Saves us from drought makes more nutrient-dense food healthier environments about a versi return It's basically in the last four years since we started Been one of the the unsung heroes that's been waiting to be shared with the world of our Solution for climate change an actual practical real solution that nature's done in the past and now we can help it Do it and actually have a chance to reverse not just slow down what we're facing with global climate change We'll welcome to the show is this your first time at at at for Dallas for Earth Day or is this yes, it is okay?

So welcome to our fairburg Just a lot of breath. We just ran over I was gonna say you might want to catch your breath for just a minute because he's like I'm going through So you've just come from the gala. I'm sure how did that go?

It was wonderful amazing groups of people just got a nice little pic of me and Wendy silver That was awesome nothing wrong with that. Yeah, so she's she's she's promoting a film this weekend Is she nuts? I think so, but I didn't quite get it Okay, well, maybe we'll have her on we'll get her to talk about it Yeah, definitely because I mean we were just talking about how this is the largest Earth Day event in the world Yeah, over you know, but they say over since 2011 almost half a million people have come through this event Yeah, talk about what brought you to this particular event We're a group in Los Angeles and global green is another group who's partnered on this at the gala this evening They were one of the partners and for all of Earth Day and we work with them on projects for regenerative agriculture Composting and other things and kiss the ground just finished We're showing the trailer tomorrow for Earth Day on the compost story dot com We are launching the trailer for a piece called the compost story, which is basically Giving the for the first time the comprehensive story of compost that gets everyone the chance to understand The full potential of compost when you use compost that it can actually help jump start the life of soil and start that process of Carbon sequestration that I talked about before so basically global green.

We've worked them in the past They said hey you guys should they heard about the compost story Because I crashed one of their parties and we went it We went into the room and they were I was like well, we have a trailer I can show you guys they're like no way this is amazing so that we got it This was this is less than a month ago. They're like we got to get you into Dallas To show this so it was very last minute But we have Rosario Dawson Amy smart Adrian Grenier Amy Amy and Adrian were here last year exactly and this year and Kendrick Samson he was here this year and Paul Blackthorn all starring in the compost story They found the Paul Blackthorn myself. Oh, yeah, he's incredible.

He was so fun to work with and so it's launching on May 7th The full length is launching on May 7th with a campaign that makes it so that People all they have to do is do hashtag compost life when they're taking a compost action So every day kiss the ground all of our handles at Facebook kiss the ground CA or kiss the ground on Instagram kiss the ground CA for California You can follow actions daily actions to say oh, am I gonna be putting compost in a green bin? Am I gonna be helping my friends set up a compost? Am I gonna be putting compost in my freezer?

So it doesn't attract flies and stink any compost action you just hashtag compost life take a picture of video of yourself And you get to enter a chance to win this big grand prize worth over two thousand dollars with all these companies that have put money in But it's for everyone. It's for the whole whole world really. It's in it's a national campaign more for the US But the whole world can participate and now you can go to the compost story.com tomorrow for Earth Day to actually Sign up and get ready for this pledge and start before the 7th even happens So you mentioned that the trailer you brought the trailer with you.

Yeah, the trailer got shown tonight At the gala is Can are you at a point where you can talk about any distribution for the full length or are you still working on it? There we're in negotiations for the who gets to it's actually it's open source But it's basically who gets to put it out first okay on the seventh what news source is gonna do that We're still in negotiations. Okay.

I said because a lot of times we interview people on the show at festivals like this and they're like We can't talk about it, but you know, and we get that but we want to say names But I can say we're working with to figure out who's gonna be the first to and then after that everyone gets to share it But we basically have a first to Opportunity, but that's that's good news. Anybody's really really there's people that are interested which is good news because you know Earth Day is a beautiful thing, but really every day should be earth day And I think that's one of the things that you guys are promoting with the composting and things like that How did you get involved just from the beginnings of it? Well first real quick.

It's comp international compost awareness week is May 7th or 13th That's why we're launching there's math there that I wasn't aware okay international compost awareness week May 7th through 13th That's the whole week where the challenge is running so people are gonna be able to participate in the challenge so But honestly my story of the soil thing is it starts with a dream and it's Triggers me emotionally every time so I'm trying to get through this one But about five years ago. I had a dream that I was an old old man And I was about 90 years old and living in a refugee camp in Brazil Because global climate change had just devastated most the planet killed a lot of humans off and my granddaughter She wakes me up and she sneaks me under the fence She found a hole in the fence and we walk for miles and miles and at the dawn approaches She Her and I go over the crest of this this hill and we see this city that out in front of us Completely destroyed lays and ruined And this granddaughter looks up at me and she's got tears streaming down her face and she's just like Why didn't you do anything to stop this map? Wow Which is like I was like so real and It just it made me think that I've been a touring musician for my whole pretty much my whole adult life And You know, I've done a lot of activist work when I've been a participant, but it took it to the next level And I was like Can't really just pretend that didn't happen.

Yeah, that's that's a message I wasn't a dream sir. That was a message And then about a year later my friend Ryle and who's one of the owners of cafe gratitude Was in New Zealand heard about the soil thing was like this is too good to be true And he brought this gentleman named Graham state who's a big he's one of the most prolific Changers of super market supply chains of governments to regenerative agriculture and Biological agriculture and he had him come through California He was on his way to speak with the old corporation. He said stop in LA promise you it's gonna be a good idea He spoke to us for four hours, and I've always been a so a science geek Like a whole life and this guy's talking about things like micro eyes of fungi.

I'm like, I know that I was with I'm high school. I did a study with Cornell University on micro eyes of fungi and like so all this stuff's clicking in my head And then that night it was like if this is all true We can't not share this with the world And so we hit the books and started making the calls all over the world and low and behold About a year later we became a non-profit called kiss the ground That was like dedicated the whole time to sharing this story because four years ago You looked online you looked in the news and you looked at this the carbon soil connection was Void and now we you know in the past four years We've seen with other coalitions of groups working on this It's now becoming a part a serious part of the global climate change discussion with countries All over the world signing on to france is france is initiative for four p 1000 which is about building soil organic matter back And california leading the charge with carbon farm plans and and having a healthy soils initiative So it's been amazing to watch this idea that just hit us out of the blue and we kind of were like well We can't not tell it and now it's it's being told and and we're helping still so So you're here this week are you here for the whole weekend? No, unfortunately I leave tomorrow morning because we're the campaigns launching tomorrow So I'm gotta be back in the back of california.

Yeah, tell them we'll let it go this time. Yeah But where else I mean we're also you guys gonna be represented at both even before the thing kicks off on the seven Because we want to make sure we get all of your information out there The kiss the ground dot com is the main site where everything's hosted you can watch our old Our late last video the soil story which In four minutes describes the whole soil carbon connection and gets people to understand that The compost story is launching and it's its own site But it's also hosted on kiss the ground dot com the compost story dot com. They're both One in the same But this year coming up December we're launching a book called kiss the ground which is An amazing narrative of the whole discussion that's happening with regenerative agriculture around the world and then A full-length documentary.

We've been working with the team that made fuel and the big fix You know those yes We've been working on a documentary with them for almost three years and as it'll be out on January 18th going to The festivals so that's the big one. That's like So it's possible. We could see you next year at the Dallas International Film Festival Yeah, this film festival is tied into which we cover those as well totally So that's that's gonna be out in the world next year and it's really exciting because that's the really the big whole story of this Conversation again like that's it's been brewing for the last four years and to watch it catch on you know people like oh And then like Once they get it once you really grasp how how big of a potential this is when we're talking about everything else solution wise right now is reducing The amount of CO2 are putting up.

We're already past 400 parts per million And even if we halted everything today and and we didn't have a means of sequestering it It'll be legacy carbon for the last the next 200 years So that's the kind of thing that we're facing and this solution again like I thought it was too good to be true But now that it's it's better than and we're connected with the international scene Governments major scientists. It's it's all real and it's so exciting because you know when you like you put Yourself on the line for something and you're like indeed you put yourself out there It's like yeah, and it's been amazing to watch it all come back as like getting more and more momentum every day So we want you to go enjoy the evening because you know, you know, you got to fly back in the morning Is there any other things you want to plug Facebook, Twitter, Instagram all that good stuff because we're about shameless self-promotion I love it. So everyone tomorrow go to the compoststory.com Go to kiss the ground.com and then go to facebook A dot com forward slash kiss the ground CA for California and for Instagram It's kiss the ground CA as well at kiss the ground CA and If you like music check out rebel makes Whatever you want to plug man, that's what we're here for.

It's it's just it's music project But uh my name is Finnie and make peace and kiss the ground is I think that the thing that the message I want to leave people with is There is a solution that I promise you will give you a more hopeful outlook and kick in the butt to start acting than ever and it's really Moving from sustainable thinking because sustainability And I'll argue this to anybody sustainability is a is a reaction to degenerative thinking human beings assuming That our interaction with nature will degenerate nature to plead it because that's what we've seen And so we have reacted with conservation and sustainability, which was like we have to do less harm We have to soften the blow and we have to figure out how to save the little we have left But the definition of sustainable is able to be used without being completely used upper destroyed Now that's not a very Exciting slogan in my opinion But the concept of regenerative is a B conversation degenerative and and sustainable are are one in the in the same A conversation Regenerative is how life works we can farm we can live we can create our communities that are actually regenerating water cycle is regenerating soil And actually working how life works instead of trying to swim upstream we turn around and swim downstream It's going to be much better. We can actually have Real abundance everywhere. So check out the information look up how soil carbon works Check out the soil story.com kiss the ground.com and the compost story.com tomorrow And then the big contest coming up in a couple of weeks.

Yeah on May 7th it starts But it's actually starting tomorrow because you can do your first post by sharing the trailer is your first hashtag compost life You get your first entry in Automatically so go to the compost story tomorrow. Unfortunately the site's not up right now It's up tomorrow. We were waiting for the launch.

So thanks for having me, but it's our honor to do so Then the book will be out in December Documentary in January so hopefully we'll see you in about 11 months and two weeks exactly And we're maybe back here for this festival next year because this is the first time that this festival has existed So maybe it would be more more better. Well, I'm just going to say more better because that's how I roll Maybe at this festival because then you could date you here with a lot of the other earth they folks to do So definitely tonight watch the soil story at the soil story.com and tomorrow go to the compost story at the compost story.com And that'll be your education for the weekend. You guys have been great. Always Get to this all right. Go ahead and introduce yourself to our audience if you would my name is Paul Gilman and Been enjoying Earth Day and what it stands for I am a musician like time musician Okay, okay What really relates here too is a relationship I have with whales Okay, music to the film with the guys that shot Avatar and Titanic and Just saw Michael Cain.

Do you know? Yes from For the we've met him from some of the music further the film festivals that we've done over the years He's been referred to as a maniac and he hasn't even sat down yet And Don's don's looking at first. It's interesting because we We don't know each other but we both have a lot to do with whales and dolphins.

Oh, okay, and two different approaches with the same Objective which is to protect them. So everybody's coming in from the gala. How was it?

great great And uh, okay, all right. Are we are we having somebody sit down? Are we still going?

What are we doing? I'm Don's taking care of us here My name but we should you're supposed to me. This is the price to put a wild place.

Oh, there you go We're gonna get we're gonna get into meet We're gonna let him introduce himself just grab the microphone just talk right into it tell everybody who you are You know actually you can just leave it there and just rotate it or probably work easier for you Just talk right into it tell us everybody who you are Paul Watson on the founder of the C Shepherd Conservation Society You know what insert I actually have a very good friend that actually came to visit me A few months ago who works with C Shepherd in the UK So I'm we're honored to have you here. You're as part of the festival go ahead and tell everybody what's what's been going on? What's your promoting here at the festival?

Well, what we're promoting at the festival is a film that we did on called why just one and it's about The threat to turtles in Latin America and Florida actually so what we do is we we have operation Talk right into it so everybody here So what we do is we deploy volunteers to these beaches in Honduras and Costa Rica and Colombia and Adam What they do is a they patrol the beaches to keep the poachers away from the nests and to protect the turtles and when is the show film showing? I believe it's shown tomorrow Okay, tomorrow here at the earth x film festival Are you going to be there for a Q&A afterwards or okay? Yes, I'll be there for that Actually, so how are you enjoying everything so far?

I mean tonight was the gala so everybody was there and and dressed up a lot better than I am right now Which is why we're over here. Well, I just arrived from LA and suddenly it was here So yeah, it was it was a very interesting then silly or was there I'm always you know happy zero Actually, it was with her about two weeks ago, so and tell everybody about the history of sea shepherd, please Well, I establish sea shepherd exactly 40 years ago 1977 as an organization to intervene against poaching. It's an anti-poaching organization So what we do is all over the world is we oppose illegal exploitations and how many Because I know there's different versions of it around the world.

How many different countries are involved right now? Well, sea shepherd is not an organization. It's more of a movement So we're in 40 different countries around the world and they operate in cooperatively under the umbrella of sea shepherd global, which is based in Amsterdam, but they're all separate entities and the reason for that is that You know, it really is a form of protection The Japanese came after me personally in 2012 to try and shut me down and So what they realize is that it's not me.

It's not even the sea shepherd as the US as an organization So they can stop me. They might even be able to stop an organization But you can't stop moving agreed and that movement has growing it's growing exponentially I see more and more of it all the time whether I'm on social media or if I'm watching documentaries and things like that How long did the documentary take to do? Well, that was about a year and a half to do that particular film, but you know, we're doing quite a few other films too And uh, we've had some we've been involved in films which have been like the code for instance with one the Academy of War So yes, it's here with that Sharkwater was another film that we were involved in was really changed the opinions of millions of people around the world about which the nature sharks And of course we do our will watch television show or the will wars And we've started a new one collusion warriors, which is going to be on discovery So things are moving along nicely.

I mean your your is this the debut of the film or how many times is the film shown before this week? Is this the debut of the new film or has it been shown already I don't know if it's the actual debut but it's not been over at all Where's it going from here? I don't know I don't handle the films You're just making sure they get shown and shown to the right audience and then you get to talk about it afterwards It's showing tomorrow as part of the earth x film festival the very first you get to be part of the first one of these that Dallas has ever done Describe how things have been for you since I know you just got off the plane Are you are you feeling any kind of anxiety?

Are you ready for this thing tomorrow? Or is it just kind of another day at the office for you? Well, I don't really have any anxiety over it But it's very enjoyable to meet all the people I guess I can say I may not have been the right but right word I was looking for but kind of anticipation.

I think that's what I was looking for No, I don't I just show up and I do what I need to do I do what they tell me to do and I'm back on the plane So is there anything else that you want to plug as I know we want to let you go you guys will enjoy the evening And you guys get the need to meet with each other so I don't want to take up too much your time One of the most important campaigns we're doing right now We have three ships in the sea of Cortez trying to protect the piquitas the piquitas the smallest and most endangered Purpose on the planet there were 30 of them Left when we started this campaign December we found three dead ones in the last month one fact one yesterday And they're being killed because they're targeting the fish called the totoava, which is also endangered And the bladder of the totoava fishes were $20,000 a kilo in China So that puts a lot of motion motivation for these people to approach them So what we've been doing is patrolling the area locating the nets, confiscating the nets we've confiscated over 300 of them And freeing a lot of the animals that are caught in there everything from from fish to One humpback whale, which we were able to free from the nets But a lot of a lot of animals are killed in them too including a great white shark and a lot of dolphins and sea lions and that It's a very destructive thing and it's all being done just for this greedy campaign to toto totoava bladders just so It has no medicinal purpose in just in China They seem to think that this is going to be the cure all and I'll How anybody ever conceived that a bladder from a fish could be valuable for some medicinal purposes beyond me But that's what we're dealing with Is there anything else you want to plug before we let you go? How can people get involved if they want to get involved? We'll see sure if it's a volunteer driven organization So people go to our website wwwcshopper.org And if they want to get involved you can involve many levels by crewing on the ships or being a short supporter or just contributing to what we're doing I mean we have we're the largest non-government navy in the world.

We have 10 ships I've seen and Anybody knows the bones of both are very expensive The upkeep alone will keep you moving Thank you guys so much for sitting down with us go enjoy the party and Relax and I know you guys are needed to meet at some point We cannot thank you. We hope everything goes well for you tomorrow and we're excited to see where things go from here Joy or evening guys Wow That's pretty cool Well, you know how I feel about that. Oh, I know you and I both do I've been an ocean junkie ever since I was five when I first started watching Jacques Cousteau probably some of the motivations behind you joining the Navy that is why I joined the Navy actually became a certified scuba diver in the 80s because of that and You know, I love I love folks to do stuff My friend Nick that came visit in December and he and I went to Mike Berbiglia He's a member of C Shepherd UK So I want to make sure we I get him tagged in the explanation of everything so he can hear the interview Yeah, this this is right in his wheelhouse.

All right. Looks like we have more guests We are rolling go ahead and put your headphones on so you can hear yourself all right So we can make sure that we can hear you nice clearly talk right into that thing and tell us we are just right on it And tell Sarah hello there. Oh, there we miss Colby and Delighted to join you guys tonight.

Thanks for having me all right And Daniel's back with us as well. I know we're going to corral Ryan Okay, directors of earth day taxes. Okay over here eventually, but you know there's there's like a party going on in the background right now Sitting right here, brother.

It's like everybody's it coming. It's like a 10 by 20 man Everybody can move 20 feet every 10 minutes That's the fastest anyone will move in a part of sounds like my dorm in college pretty much what I mean What's what's brought you to to the weekend? I actually came as part of the investor day yesterday.

They had an e summit in which they were Quite a few groups came from family offices and foundations to learn more about how we can get involved in helping contribute to moving some of these great ideas forward What kind of ideas were were brought up that you guys were able to discuss? A range of stages it kind of started from very early stage going through the story of Tesla Which has obviously got some momentum behind its back now. It is great to see I think that spectrum gives you Good encouragement to see that a lot of these great ideas do get that spark.

Yeah They're even expanding even bigger. I was actually at the mall yesterday where they have a Tesla store And they've got an entire display outside the store about ways of they're making homes more efficient I mean, it's a huge display. It's probably bigger than my actual house Yeah, it's actually This is Seth Williams Winter School at UT.

Love Austin So speaking about Tesla, you know, when is this going to stop? I mean these guys now they're doing everything. They're doing solar roofs pretty soon What is it going to be?

Is it going to be building materials pre-fab houses? These guys can look at anything and find a way to make it better And that's a good thing especially on weekends like this. We're having Earth Day Which is the Earth X film festival We have another gesture.

We're just lining up. Tell everybody who you are I'm the CEO of Earth Day Texas And your name, sir Ryan Brand. There we go.

We want to make sure we get your name out there Earth Day Texas the largest Earth Day gathering on the planet And now you have the Earth X film festival to go along with it talk a little bit about that relationship Well, you know, we we spend all the time talking right into the microphone start back in here Absolutely. Yeah, we spend all year putting together the single event, right? It spans over five days But film can impact people throughout the year.

So it's a it's a perfect marriage Truly talk about I mean how did this whole thing come apart? I mean you guys got guys like John Wildman who's a friend of the show Who's kind of been helping bridge the gap as well as Chesa c'moon talk about that relationship How it happened and what brought it to here? You know, it it actually It just kind of happened itself.

Okay. That's what I did. I am.

I'm being honest with it But you know what it was it was it was just bringing different folks together to have a conversation And then other people noticed what was going on and they're like I want to be a part of that And there's no way like today that you could get Rick Perry To have a conversation with Sylvia Earl anywhere else but right here at Earth Day Texas I mean that kind of stuff and this is just the beginning of the weekend I mean tomorrow was when it gets real We last year we we talked earlier on the show as we've been watching all the stats that have been coming across the tv Over by where we are over 130,000 people came last year last year almost 400,000 over the last five years I mean that's a big I mean you guys basically own fair park for about three days And now this comes along with it Which is really gonna probably even push that to a bigger To build up film is so powerful as well. No, we had our opening night last night. We had chasing coral Was screened and I was there at Sundance when it was screened and there was standing innovation.

We had it last night It's just so powerful. I mean anybody that's seen an environmental documentary Understands what I'm saying and I think most of people have it's just so powerful What's interesting about having the films here at Earth Day Texas with the Expo and the conference and all these things going on with all the people is that You know when you get done with a film you're energized and you're excited Maybe I can make a change or do something immediately and I can actually go find those people Right away Tangibly and have a conversation and figure out what I want to do Whereas sometimes you know you'll go and you'll watch something on Netflix or whatever it is And you're still at your house But yeah, but it kind of wears off right because there's no like it would say that afterwards There's nowhere to go with it where here you get to see a film and then Your smack dab need deep in the hoopla because with over 230 different speakers this weekend if I saw that correctly There I mean when I say they take over fair park they take over fair park I mean this is a huge facility that's going to be chock full of vendors people that you can talk to and find other ways to get involved and then with film We also have the VR components as well, but you're absolutely right. You can you can actually see a film here and say the The world wildlife federation is a sponsor of that Then you can actually go to that exhibit and have a conversation with those people just like I was saying earlier I mean, it's I don't know another place.

It does it the way we do it. That's why we're the biggest in the world And we'll take it all day long Talk about I mean like last year over 130,000 people came last year Talk about some of the highlights for you like what are the exhibits that are maybe new this year That you think this is like this is the thing everybody needs to come to see So I'm originally from California right went to school Santa Barbara. I'm a master diver I did all that stuff in the ocean.

This is the first year that I'm aware of in Dallas, Texas. You can actually scuba dive Right here really right here. There was a time when you did sir Yes, there is yeah, the dive equipment manufacturers association has a good dive now pool 20 foot by 30 foot and there was a line out there today The people just experienced you scuba for the first time.

That's awesome You know, and there were some toy sharks and stuff and they're just fun, you know And you weren't playing the jaws theme though, were you okay as long as we're I don't think it's scared anybody But it was so nice to see. I mean that's what's all about the education You know, how can you get people involved immediately and to me it's through experience And if you can actually have someone physically do something like we can here for almost five days From when the conferences started to win the There's because we're a Friday through Sunday event open to general public if you can actually have that happen I mean, it's a huge win for everybody and it's Let's talk about how people can get in here. I mean, it's a free event.

Right So it doesn't don't worry about breaking the bank because you're gonna come here You're gonna be with the kid you're gonna bring the family everybody's gonna learn stuff. I actually if I'm not mistaken And did I see correctly that even Legos here Lego is for the weekend That's right. We've got build the change is the ABCs is the way that we're We're doing it this year, which is a as in the letter and then b as a BE as in pollinators Okay, and then sees because oceans are so important probably that's the ABCs It's kind of cute.

It's clever. I'm on board. That is that is synergy I just spent an entire weekend surrounded my Legos my my niece turned seven this coming weekend And so we went to the discovery center last weekend and What better way to spend a Saturday right before Easter than with About 9,000 people in a 500 square foot area But it could be worse.

They could be making you walk over Legos in the dark You know, but they did have a guy that's got like a Lego vacuum in my brother and I was like how can I get one of those? That's a license to print money. Oh my god You're so right and pretty much every building here is going to have something in it.

There are Did I count five or six different venues where films are going to be playing You've got a 3d film that's playing all weekend if I'm not mistaken. Yes. Yes.

Yes, and I don't I don't know which one it is I want it. It's the butterfly when I put the butterfly. Yeah, absolutely right And that's you know, you know why is because State, Texas is in the monarch Flyway the butterfly flyway And I understand there's only three percent of those butterflies left in the world Wow really and so part of what we do is you know We come up with internal initiatives if you will every year and part of and one of those is the pollinators Which includes bees of course, but also butterflies I mean people sometimes people don't think about butterflies being part of that and including that We just had this event tonight at the Texas Discovery Garden That's we we will under wrote for that to be open to the general public for free for three days So that's butterfly house that's coming out and getting experience being enriched in that kind of stuff and And then the other initiative we have is with the ocean.

So the ABCs Awesome. That's genius Anything else that you want to highlight because we wanted to enjoy the party because you just came from the gallery You probably want to exhale a little bit and now you're talking to these slubs And if what else do you want to plug for the weekend? Oh boy Come you know seriously if you can come here and experience this rope and 10 to 6 you can come to earthatx.org and see what we're all about It's you know It's a free event and it's just full of educational things.

It's it's good for any ages We've got hackathon going on that started 11 o'clock tonight Which is pencils up pencils down to people actually stay here and sleep here And it's something like not a lot of people have seen and so you I mean They're actually problem solving and coming up with solutions for environmental change for a positive environmental impact Right and they're actually here really have a little bit of red bull They're not ours. That's not our sponsor There will be energy drinks consumed up some form. No, just their lifeblood Which was really interesting about that is it's right next to the sustainable beer garden And the food garden so and then a tiny house village and then the music stage and so you just get all this in a nice place There's something literally for everybody everybody and One of the local stations is it KXT that's sponsoring all the concerts.

That's right. Yeah I'm trying to go from rope memory of everything we've been staring at this we've been here since like seven So I've been staring at the screen trying to absorb as much as I can so when you guys got here. I was ready There's a TV I'm worried about Not as far as you know That's basically his teleprompter.

So earth ATX dot org. Yes. This is where everybody wants to go Especially if they want to get involved because you're probably going to be planning next year on Monday That's right.

So get involved help out if you over corporate sponsor get involved too Because you know you want to be part of the biggest thing in the world And this is the biggest celebration in the world. It's not just a slogan. That's real.

That's verifiable facts This is honest truth go enjoy the party you guys. Amen. Seriously.

Thank you so much for stopping by and this weekend is just starting sir Two full days 10 to six tomorrow. What are the hours on Sunday? Same.

Okay, so 10 to six tomorrow 10 to six Sunday And then we just start playing next year. That's it. Thank you so much for stopping by so we appreciate you so much You are listening to the clubhouse podcast We are live Earth Day Texas and the earth ex film festival.

I'm starting to think Rob that maybe you secretly want to change the name of this podcast To the clubhouse to the to two slubs with a microphone two slubs with a mic No, the slubhouse like that rise slubhouse It's a house of slubs That actually that sounds more like a reality show than the else. I don't know I don't know how deep you got into the to the wall. I was gone No, no, we didn't So so movie releases the circles coming out next week this new Is that the Tom Hanks?

Yeah, the Tom Hanks that thing looks creepy and like a slight which is a movie I'm very much looking forward to it's kind of a pseudo superhero film WWE's back. Yeah, WWE's involved. I've heard about this thing for months A film that's being very highly touted by friends of the show like Cynthia Jordan and the admiral himself How to be a Latin lover This is the same guy that did the film a couple of years ago called the instructions that included Uh-huh that we saw it value view Very very funny movie this guy is very very popular in South America He's trying to break into this country and I'm told this movie is very very good.

Okay. Also rupture I don't have the details on that. Of course.

I don't care about my phone and buster's male heart Which showed at the Dallas International Film Festival Is going to be released wide this coming week very nice Right after the death DVD and Blu-ray new releases on places you get DVD and Blu-ray new releases this Tuesday La la land Gets its release this week. All right Also underworld blood wars. I'm surprised that took this long because it wasn't that January.

Yeah figure to be out by now But it's not coming out to Tuesday Something I think you'll be interested in something called 24 by 36 This is a documentary about movie posters. Oh, yeah Yeah, I'm all over the marine five battleground because we don't have enough of the Miz in our life And you know a movie's good When you're touting the great Curtis Axle as part of the cast and Maurice. Oh, God That's a thing your criterion collections this week a Japanese film called tempopo Also rumble fish getting the criterion wow and naked lunch getting a criterion re-realist I've never seen that film.

I want to say I saw it when I was younger It was like one of those three in the morning It was the only thing on so I kind of watched some of it But I don't really remember a lot about it. If that makes any sense It makes sense. Yes back in those in the college years of where everything got a watch I've got to watch some while on say hazy, but I've got to watch something to stay awake and that was on I don't know what actually worked But uh, but you to sleep more than keep you awake.

We're excited to be here Yes, a little bit later than we're normally on, but that's why we do this We're covering the earth x film festivals the very first one of these of its ilk in Dallas The very first doubts environmental film festival. It looks like things are are going very swimmingly Don is out in the wilderness somewhere finding us guests Thankfully not having to swim here to get here. Yeah, I mean like we dodge that.

Yeah, well so far Let me see what the old weather app is saying and apparently uh the threat of bad weather on my Being over us all on my side of town there were some thunderstorms going on We're showing shower, but 77 degrees. I'll take that while I was reading while I was trying to keep the Facebook feed posted because Believe me folks just because you don't hear me talking to that much doesn't mean I'm not acting You know, I look at dress that because a lot of people have asked me that a Dave Scott friend of the show last week It's like just when I was about to say where's Chad? He would speak When we do these live shows because when we're in studio It's a lot different because we're focused on the task at hand and we know where things are going when we're doing film festivals I tend to do most of the talking because you're on the one that's updating our social media Yeah, there's there's a lot to do that and to the show for multiple reasons Because sometimes I need to figure out where in some when the show something happened And instead of having to go back through the whole show I just follow what you've done on our timeline so I say okay was right about that point and I can cue that up in the show Because we've had directors and producers and things like ask us to isolate their sections of the shows when we do these interviews And what you're doing is just as important because it's I don't have to sift through everything and try to remember where everything was It's sometimes it's hard because at a lot of times these people will just sit down and just say who they are But I don't know exactly how their name is spelled.

Sometimes they don't have a Facebook presence and sometimes it's just their film that they're promoting I want to give them all the credit in the world that they are due but You know, sometimes they've got their Facebook profile set to private and you just can't find it But you know, I want to give them as much exposure as we possibly can because it's a great thing that they're doing It's a great thing they're doing for us and we definitely want to return to the face. Absolutely We love the thing coming sit down with us by the way when I said about this event brochure This thing is about probably the size of like your parade magazine in the Sunday papers from a from a page standpoint But this is almost a hundred pages long. Yeah, it feels it's it's got the it's got the thickness of like a Like a time magazine commemorative edition of of something that they're profiling and it's not all ads No, there's not really there, but there's so much going on this weekend Uh at at earthday texas and the earth x film festival that it's gonna take a I mean earth x itself has a separate guide Because there's so much going on and it also I was also included in the event guide here as well Yeah, it's it's several entities working in tandem with each other and for the film festival itself We want to remind you if you were at the Dallas International Film Festival and you have one of the passes from that that work Yeah, yeah, good good for you to mention that I'm gonna say yeah, come on down.

I mean and even if you need to buy tickets, we're here at the Magnolia lounge The box office is also here at the Magnolia lounge So whether you want to see one film or if you want to cover the entire festival You have those options as well. All the pricing is at earth x film dot org So you can do that online or you can tell me I got my t-shirt already. Oh you did I did I got my there's two different t-shirts to choose from I asked the young lady to surprise me so she got me one.

There's a black one and there's a great one So she got me the black one. It's a good looking t-shirt. Why did she why did you want to surprise you because I didn't have a preference They're both said it's these these same price So there's also they've got caps and stuff that they're selling as well Again, this is all a fair park fair park is huge for those of you that don't live in the Dallas Fort Worth area They're listening around the world This is a huge facility again.

This is where the state fair of Texas happens every year Yeah, and when you hear about all these weird fair food and stuff This is the place that they talk about more often than not probably not the best conjunction with earth day I'm trying to give people a sense of the enormity of this thing the scope and again These are people that are you're coming here in droves over the next two days tomorrow from 10 to 6 Sunday from 10 to 6 as well It kind of has a and I know this is a bygone thing that The you know the kids today with the clothes and the hairs you like to refer to them and probably wouldn't know anything about But it's got kind of a world's fair vibe to it. You know, I like that I like that. I think I'm definitely going to sign off on that as as agree It's like an eco world's fair.

You know, it's it's it's very unique and it's it's very now I mean, and to help you put it in perspective the number of people that will come through here in the next four less than 48 hours You could not fit all of them in AT&T stadium in Arlington. No That's more than that stadium can hold even when you use the field I mean, it's it's it's a massive undertaking. I mean like we've been involved in some pretty Pretty cool things that had a lot of moving parts to it.

Oh, yeah, and this may be one of the biggest things We've ever come close to you know Or are being been even indirectly involved and not the only time we're going to be at fair park in the next 30 days doing a show If you missed it at the top of the show We want to make a huge announcement right now. We're going to remake that huge announcement May 18th We have now officially got it got all the the T's crossed and the eyes dotted We will for the second year in a row be covering the Texas High School Musical Awards Right here at Music Hall of Fair Park, but wait there's more Last year if you remember on the show we did a one-hour pre-show and then we took a little break because we had to take all the equipment We had to move into the green shift locations. Yeah, we have first time we've ever done that We went to the green room so we could broadcast from backstage as we interviewed all the winners as they came through This year we're taking it to the next level or they're taking us to the next level.

Yeah to be the more the more better way to say that Working on presented awards are we this is 2017 has been a very big year for this show. We've had a lot of firsts this year If you tell me two years ago that this would be on the agenda. I got a change.

Thank you. We're a little loony Thank you, but there's a brand new award of the Texas High School Musical Awards for social media And since we tend to be a bit of the social media mavens. That is our platform That's how we do what we do We're going to present that award for the first time So we're going to be the first person to present the award We're going to present it to the first winner of the award on May 18th in conjunction with Dallas summer musicals That's going to be a lot of fun.

So we're presenting an award and a major award scala It's a major award. What could possibly go wrong now if they give us a leg lamp and we can present that Then you've got it worked all the way around. Well, I'm sure they have one in the bowels of that I don't know what they still have it or not because I think they had to ship that one back Because that was one of the the ones that was used actually in the film.

Well I'm sure they probably have like a replica proper or something of its ilk. Yeah, I'm sure they probably do Our friends at Dallas summer musicals he we've worked with them for three or four years now Francisco and everybody over there is so great We're very much looking forward to this and we're so thankful that we're going to have that opportunity And we're actually we've been in discussions because we just got the email this morning So we've already been in discussions of how we're going to do this Uh It's going to be kind of cool if we can pull this off And if you're not careful you just might see your boys in tuxedo You know We either that or we dress up like the new day. Those are the two options.

No, okay, so we're not going to do that Okay, could we get the three amigos tuxedo because I'm where the sombreros? None of us know how to play a freaking trombone And I don't think a v-hole is gonna know how to play a trombone Hey, he but I've still cracked up because he what he took Took to the ring at WrestleMania When Xavier was took to the ring at WrestleMania Do you realize what he played on the trombone when he got up into the ring brother of slips since then? Okay, you know what you know with the motete that they were dressed as when they when they made their way to the ring Which time this time this year know that they did it They did multiple appearances there when they took the stage initially when they came out and I don't remember They were paying homage to final fantasy.

Oh, is that what that was? That's what that was okay So whenever Xavier Woods got in the middle of the ring and busted. What's what's the trombone's name always forget?

Francesca Francesca It was the triumphant theme that you that dates played after the end of every battle in file That was that was that's what that was okay fair enough a couple of tech corner notes while we're we're kind of a little bit downtime Nintendo has discontinued the NES classic to the surprise of pretty much nobody When I found out you couldn't expand it. I just didn't care. Yeah, you know, it's like that But that should be the point like Nintendo didn't come that way in the age you had to buy the cartridges Why can't I buy the games?

Yeah, I mean it's I don't know if it's just that They they only planned this thing to be a very very limited limited collectors item run The demand was so big that they went ahead and put out a second wave of them just to Placate the collectors and then they said okay, that's enough And I'm still wondering if if they're trying to pave the way for a super Nintendo classic edition I'm really hoping that's hopefully there's lessons learned well But still I mean I think that they they're they're they're packing in what they know they can get away with packing in You know because you know, I'm sure that the majority of their you know third-party licenses ran out years ago So they've got to be really selective of what they put on those thores parties Why would I go you know what we'll get you a download emulator for it? Well, but there I mean there are some third parties that don't even exist anymore Like THQ is a non-intitant now and they were a real heavy player back in the day of 16 bit So so also WWE and Sega are teaming up for a a game WWE tap mania is what it's gonna be called so it's just gonna be like a Another mobile game that's going to be with them based I know that would be weird. No not at all.

I mean if you think about it. It's Parapa the rapper kind of like what no, no, no, no, no, don't don't don't be too quick Because a lot of these games have have sequences in them Games that are very heavily cinamac like the tail tail game series like okay, which they're about to launch Guardians of the Galaxy Is that what that was at my daughter put on my page early tell tales next next series is gonna be Guardians of the Galaxy Okay, I thought you knew about that. I'm sorry.

Well, I saw the video, but I didn't know what it was I had the audio. I didn't realize it. They've done the walking dead They've done Batman now.

They're doing Guardians. They've done Game of Thrones. They've done Jurassic Park.

They've done back to the future Both both sides of the fence have actually been discussing the possibility of them doing Star Wars at some point Lucas money Lucas says they're they're interested tail tail sales says they're interested, but anyway I digress a lot of these games have they call it quick time events where you're you're you're Survival depends solely on how quickly you react to tapping a button So maybe it's something along the lines of you get thrown into the ropes and you tap on the screen to throw yourself in and not get thrown over the ropes or something You know, maybe it's something along but that's kind of dragons layer-ish Other wrestling headlines. I don't know if you saw that Rosie from three-minute warning pastor I texted you that did you I did not really realize that he was Roman Reigns's older brother. Oh, is he?

Yes, he is You know that Impact apparently interested in both Matt side Dalin Leo Rush. Good luck. Well, bro And Ian Riccoboney re-signs with ROH.

He's there one of their new announcers. I am not a huge fan But well, you could say that about most wrestling announcers. I've seen worse though.

I will tell you I've seen more There's some and I've you noticed that uh, I don't know if you've if you've really been paying attention But as part of the superstar shake up David O'Tunga is going to Raw But he's filming a movie so Booker T is filling for him Good god Have we really addressed the Elephant in the room which one there are so many with the Smackdown announced team We did we have we have discussed it more or no longer with the company any any mention even at his MMA career has been removed Yeah, I saw that I'm like he just did he just decided to go scorched earth that they tell him He didn't he didn't go scorched earth. He basically said That he's there's just issue. I think he's fighting depression and he's having some mental issues there And we just hope he gets better.

Well, I mean, I've never been a fan of that guy But you don't wish anything bad on the deal. Well, but I mean I was hearing all these rumblings of him being bullied by JBL I have heard stories, but I I can either confirm or deny Yeah, I don't know how much weight it has to it, but I mean still you know does does If that is true if that is if that does indeed turn out to be the case What the heck ever happened to the WWE anti-bullying policy you start and be a star It seemed like they have done everything they can to pretty much fly in the face of that policy ever since they It's about the storylines and it's about Whatever I mean from right back to this thing and it's just been an absolute disaster But there I mean there's a lot going on in the business. We've got payback coming up next weekend So we'll be doing two shows next weekend because next weekend We will be at the USA Film Festival We've got to get some details so we know where we'll be I would say there's a greater than zero chance That we'll be at the Angelica but we need to lock that down I'll get dawn on the case on that so we'll have an answer for you hopefully Monday or Tuesday Because that show should be happening next Friday night because payback is Sunday And I'd kind of like to have a day in between that we can relax We need if we need some decompression days and then after that be on the lookout because we are going to be doing a live show from a very Another very special place In May we just have to get that lock down with the people up there And that's one that you're going to be very very excited about I know you already are yeah Yeah, I can't wait do we can make that official announcement So yeah, we've got to get that I don't want to announce it yet because it's not official But we made some inroads with some great people at the Texas pinball festival that may be getting us something a little bit more Permanent in that section of talent.

Yes, if you know what we mean and we mentioned it briefly During that show as well looks like don's bringing us more guests Directors okay Okay, all right We have people sitting down. We have people that are putting on headphones Oh, okay fair enough fresh fresh off some very interesting happenings last night Talk right into those microphones tell everybody who you are Hello, I am Larissa Rose. I'm one of the producers of chasing coral.

I'm sitting here with Zachary Rago Who's one of our documentary subjects chasing coral I played a little place called Sundance earlier this year, but also opens the very first Earth X film festival welcome to the show. Thank you. How did last night go?

It was fantastic This is just an awesome opportunity for us. It's one of the largest Earth Day festivals in the world The largest it is the biggest one in the world The largest Earth Day festival in the world So what an honor for for our film and for the story of coral reefs to to get out to the public So we're truly honored to be here. So the for people that don't know about the film tell them about the film Yeah, so it's truly an adventure film So we frame this as you know a group of scientists scuba divers Just ocean enthusiasts traveling around the world and trying to capture our changing oceans in a way that would be powerful But it is a way for us to show the magic of this ecosystem and It's truly an adventure film and and we just want to share the story of the magic the beauty of these places And how they're changing and why that's important to us.

How long did it take you to film it? Yes, it took about three and a half years from Beginning to end and it was quite a journey as Zach said We had people from all around the world submitting their images as well as traveling to different countries We visited a number of different countries and states for continents. They spent over 600 hours underwater filming So it was really a labor of love and a global community that came together to make this project.

What brought you to it? So actually one of the other subjects of the film Richard contacted us out of the blue He had seen the director's previous film chasing ice and basically said I think you should really check out what's happening in the oceans because you'll be very surprised And we were it was this really unbelievable mystery of of these corals turning white and nobody really knew what was going on Yeah, that's been very topical lately with a lot it's been the great barrier we've been making news over and over and over again Well the grapefruit has been at the forefront All right, I mean when you think coral that's pretty much the first place The crown jewel that's um if you're a diver that's what you dream of for your entire life is let's get to the grapefruit That's my Valhalla. I mean, I'm a certified diver myself.

I haven't I haven't dove in 30 years But that's one place I've always been founded a journey to go here magic and um to see the degradation that has happened in that ecosystem in particular It's heartbreaking. It can be really difficult Especially if you're on the ground and for our viewers. It's heartbreaking for me.

It was just absolutely The hardest thing I've ever gone to but at the same time it's it's worth every moment because I get the opportunity to share that story With everyone So was this the second showing of it or has it showed between Sundance and now it's showed it a couple of other festivals We were really fortunate actually Netflix is our distributor and so it's going to launch on Netflix later this year But previously we've had a couple of great screenings. We screened that south by we got to screen at the San Francisco International Film Festival But a number of other festivals that we feel have just been wonderfully Accepting of the film and and the crew as well So last night. I'm sure a packed house.

There's no doubt in my mind. I mean, it's the first thing of the first thing So I'm sure there was how did the Q&A go afterwards? The Q&A was really good.

So they're always a little bit different But it's awesome to be like an earth-minded film festival. So obviously the questions were really Science oriented. They were impact oriented and it's just a pleasure to have that conversation with people that understand the issue that Can kind of bring something to the table and create this conversation that can be really powerful Be really impactful and kind of swing the door open to a beautiful event that you guys are hosting here in Dallas We really are excited.

I mean, this is when we found out that we're actually going to do a film festival in conjunction with Earth Day Texas this year We were just like all right Let's do this thing and it's already like we've seen people coming in and out the gala was tonight. How did that go? It was wonderful.

There are some amazing people that were awarded for their wonderful efforts that they've done in the past And I think for us it just it opens your eyes to this community a lot of people have misconceptions I think about Texas and about the kind of people that are here and they're believed I did before I moved here So So I haven't had chance to look at the schedule. Is it screening again this weekend and when it is it is screening tomorrow Saturday at 12 30 p.m. At the music hall in Fair Park.

Oh, they're showing us the music hall sir Come join us. It is a beautiful room. It's a gorgeous.

Absolutely. It's now 77 years old Is in the season 77 well the the The series is 77 years old building is 77 years old. I don't know But it's it's you can feel the history.

Yeah, yeah, it's a spectacular. They have a beautiful screen. It seats huge audience I guess a couple of years ago race and extinction premiered there for the festival as well.

So It it just has this wonderful history of incredible filmmakers and I think we're just really excited to be part of that Are is that is it only showing tomorrow? Is there going to be a showing so tomorrow is the only other showing in the film Will there be a Q&A for that one as well? There will be and there will be some special guests like mr Zachary Ray go so come and show up and I think you'll be surprised by the film itself as I'm not just your typical climate film Do you still?

You know you've seen this a bunch of times by this point Do you still like to sit there and watch the whole thing through with the because every audience is different every situation is different or is it more of You know, I'm gonna watch a little bit then I need to go take care of this and then I can come back Yeah, I actually end up watching it pretty frequently and every now that I say oh, you know I've seen it 40 times or whatever it is and I should I need to walk away and Every time I'm at a new festival. I feel interested to sit there with the audience and engage with them and Hear what they're laughing at what what what what moments are becoming emotional and that means a lot to me Just to see how this work and this labor of love for three and a half years is kind of being absorbed by an audience. I tend to to watch it And I actually really enjoy that it's fun to See what we've done and how people react to it live and and in there instead of just showing up at the Q&A and answering questions Do you have those moments where you're watching it with an audience and you go?

They might have missed that beat or Okay, they got that one but because they got one then they missed this one. No, not really I think they're definitely for me like on a personal note There's there's always going to be moments like I find funny from behind the scenes perspective I laugh a little bit about that maybe the audience doesn't grasp but for the most part There are the cliche portions of the film that you're always going to get some giggles or you're going to get an all-out laugh from from the audience but There really is a little diverse. There really is a little bit different But I don't think there's any areas where I wish I was getting a laugh or wish I wasn't That's a little awkward.

I think sometimes that's a good thing. Yeah, we don't see much of that So you said you're getting distributed by Netflix later this year Because since that has happened do you feel like you've exhaled a little bit or are you still just kind of we need to get to that finish line? Yeah, I think we're just really excited and I think they're still this is just the beginning I think for us honestly a lot of people look at the film and say okay great.

It's done. It goes out there But for us this is our moment in time where we can now bring people together for the film bring a conversation together And start actually making some change and some difference and I think for us It really is a focus on the impact campaign if you go to chasing coral.com or follow us on at chasing coral our impact director And that the team that she is building is really going to be going out into the community to really figure out, you know Where do we need to go and how do we then make a change and a call to action that fits that community and that bridges That's perfect because once you go enjoy the party But before you do because we're all about shameless self promotion on this show You've given the website give out social media everything people need to know and then tell us where the film is going from here as well Excellent well everything is at chasing coral whether it's instagram twitter Facebook and hashtag They make science cool again And you can also follow Zach actually he is coral underscore buff on instagram so that that gets a lot of laughs Off it in um, but we are just so excited We hope that you guys come out tomorrow at 12.30 pm at the music hall to come see the film and continue to engage in the conversation This is just really the beginning for us and we really do hope to hashtag make waves and from here. Where's the film going Next we are actually headed to oh my gosh, I don't even know where we're going We've got the we've got the Portland eco film festival that's going on as kind of a crossover for earth day long with That's good and we're also going to hot docs in Toronto nice And there's a couple of others that haven't been announced yet.

So please stay tuned and go to the website because they're gonna Tell you everything you know, thank you guys so much for joining us. Go enjoy the party. Thank you so much.

Oh, thank you Daniel's bringing us presents Perfect sir You we you are listening to the clubhouse podcast. We are live at the earth x film festival Dallas's first Environmental film festival coinciding with earth day, Texas People are coming in now. We've got more people more people joining us go ahead and put your headphones on Get yourself in front of a microphone.

Let's do this thing Good good good good good We're coordinating microphones at this point Microphone coordination is important All right gentlemen, please introduce yourselves to our audience if you would All right, I'm Don Hartzel. I'm the commissioner and managing director of the world air league And we're organizing the historic first race of zeppelin's and airships to circle the planet. Oh wow gentlemen, that's awesome.

I can't follow that Thanks, you're the puffer between them. I didn't know what I was getting into here Yeah, I'm Jeremy McCain and I'm the director of Ridge Sharif Which is going to be showing tomorrow at 330 at the African American Museum So Dr. Mike North everyone calls me Doc and I'm working with Jeremy on Ridge Sharif And also have my own blog called experimental gentleman we can find out about all my other TV shares Okay, so we've got two different things going ahead at the same time So I'm gonna juggle a little bit to make sure everybody gets to talk sir go ahead and for the first Zeppelin race around the world together Indeed and what we have is we are starting on the Greenwich Prime Meridian in front of the atomic clock We're all time on earth to synchronize that is our starting point of the race We go around the entire earth We finish on the French Prime Meridian by landing in the gardens of our Si Palace In between we are flying over places like the Roman Colosseum We get to land at the Great Pyramids fly over Petra the Taj Mahal the Twin Towers in Malaysia Now Fujiamma the Golden Gate Bridge the Statue of Liberty we do come here to Texas I will say that all right good good and then we finish by landing as I said in the gardens of our Si Palace How long is that going to take well and how many Zeppelin's are involved in a perfect world We could do this race in about 24 days.

Okay, it's around the world in 180 And there's about 35 airships in the world. There's 17 races individually that when you put them back to back They go around the entire earth And so we're looking at those 35 airships in the world We've designed this race such that each and every one of them will have the opportunity to participate in the least one race or more Wow What's the hardest part of the race? Yeah, hardest part of the race is going to be I love it when our guests interview each other because it makes my job It's going to be New York to Lisbon and the Portuguese Navy has already contributed to us The Vasco de Gama and another one of the F330 series They have helicopter decks.

They're going to be stationed in the Mid-Atlantic Should we have a headwind we will need them to stop to refuel If we have a tailwind we're going to be sailing right on by And that I guess that brings up the next question Are there going to be refuel stations? There's going to be the kind of deal where you'll have other airships come up to refuel them There's a roughly 65 airfields around the earth that we're going to be stopping at to refuel fill up the gasoline tanks And we're planning on these being stops like an marathon a lot of entertainment a lot of fun And a lot of people are going to come out and want to participate in just watching the airships come to their town They're places in the world They're village Well gentlemen, let's talk about your film for a minute playing tomorrow. Tell us about the film No, I want to keep talking about it But you know what?

We'll make that work too. Whatever you guys want to do. That's what I roll with Yeah, so you know it started a couple years ago I'm an artist by trade and I was creating a neurofeedback Art installation that people would control with their minds And so my message was is that if I could actually show you the damage that was being done to the oceans But gave you the power to think differently to show that that a different outcome was possible Then that was kind of what we had hoped for but in that process we learned that there are a lot of very direct things that We learned that we couldn't put in an art form So we decided to use the media as far as film is concerned because we could actually you know to construct the message in a very different way And but so we're we're going around the planet We're documenting what's wrong with the oceans How technology can help maybe alleviate some of these issues but more importantly using ancient wisdom from some of the indigenous cultures around the world And say how do you protect the earth for thousands of years and maybe we can use some of that to into Apply to you know modern society first world Cities how long did it take you to make the film?

Well, it's a docky series. So it's an ongoing thing So it's literally like peeling an onion So I started on the plastic kick and and then overfishing and shark finning and all these things just started to kind of come out So we really want to try to attach to all the different issues that are facing the oceans because we feel like if we just Focus on one little thing. I mean it doesn't really do justice to really the damage that we're doing to the planet Do you have an idea of how long you want it to go or is it just going to go until you feel like you covered everything?

I mean, I would love to be able to say that we could cover it in a finite period of time But what I've actually learned I've been humbled every step of the way it said that you know the further I go in this project the less that I actually know But that's a good thing. It's a great thing, but at the same time. It's like well, where are we going with this?

You know, but it's actually a it's been a it's a very educational thing for me and I think for a lot of us I mean dock here is kind of like I don't know He's the guy that that that likes to break things and blow things up and explain how the technology component can work And I mean I really like having his kind of flair to to the show because I think I think that You know, we don't necessarily think about technology and then curving Maybe the the paradigm shift in a different way and I think I think he can bring that to the table And so dock from your standpoint At this point because it is an ongoing thing What's the one thing that you can point you right here right now and go that's the thing that melted my brain in this process I mean, you're a doctor. So I mean not a lot's been surprised you But I'm interested from your point of view for somebody that's got that educational background and has been working on these things What was what's one thing that you can point you just when I say the words Melted your brain. What's the first instance that comes to mind So when we Internet came about we greatly accelerated our ability as humans to share information and create basically a bit of a hive mind But it's a slow process.

I have to communicate with you You communicate with someone else maybe have put on the web maybe like 5,000 people read one of my posts, right? I was in a research lab in Zurich with the robot and I was doing a whole piece on it and He's like oh yeah, and then we'll put this on the the internet of robots and I'm like What's that? When this robot learns something what it does is it uploads what it learns to this internet and then a robot in Italy Downloads that and can perform the exact same thing and they're different robots But learn the same lessons from it.

I'm like, that's kind of crazy It's like yeah, but the crazy thing is when one robot uploads it every robot in the world instantly knows it So it's that you take how fast the internet is accelerated our knowledge what we've been able to do with it If you take that and you make it instantaneous across all robots It's it's it's it becomes symbiotic kind of thing. Yeah, it's kind of Don't say that That's the first thing that comes to mind because that's what's now been ingrained in us But the fact that technology we call that Tesla. Yeah Interesting time to maybe something we're gonna have a little bit later as well But you know the thing with our our series is it'll it'll never be done because this is not a static situation that we're covering This is this is a constantly emerging situation And because it's a situation that not only is nature which is evolving But it's now our influence on it and so we you already have the natural world that's existing Right, but now we're bringing in this massive technological world that's existing And it's really that the interplay between the technological the natural and the human influence on the two of those And so this is this new territory.

It's completely undiscovered You know there are no new worlds go and discover But there's this world to discover and the beautiful thing is in discovering it We shine a light on it so the people can have an idea of how they can have an impact on the planet that we live on So that becomes a better world and not a degenerative world and you talk about that Metaphorical onion. I mean how do you how do you corral that when you open one thing? You're like, oh, but that does this but oh, but it also does this and then there's this and there How do you corral that so you can still stay on task?

But you still have this other thing over here that you really want to get to but I got to get this done first Well, the thing is if you strategically put just a little bit of c4 in the middle of the onion You don't have to peel it the man makes a fantastic form that the logic is sound. I can't debate that No, I think to your point. I think what's you know what we typically would try to do is we You know, we we make smaller little segments, which is kind of what we've done originally We were asked to be able to do some stuff for in-flight entertainment.

I thought oh, this is great distribution, right? Because I have a captive audience. They can't change the channel.

They can't leave that going anywhere So maybe we should team up with this guy You know show them on the Zeppelin race That's how we got something. Yes, yes I have a speaking of symbionics. I can make I can make a hundred and any day show And you want to talk about a captive audience what I'm looking at and what I'm hearing is how you're connected How you're bringing that interest and that enthusiasm in That allows that kaleidoscope, which is what we're all apart of And how it's going to change as a result of that interaction from let's say the next generation to whom you are talking to And so I was going to ask you how you generate your content.

I'm hearing it and in so hearing it I'm watching effectiveness You know, that's that's the thing in science is as soon as you observe some sort of reaction You're actually influencing it So let's observe the out of this reaction and observe it in a way that we influence in a positive manner I've always thought about you do experimenting talk right into the microphones. You're not drifting to the side of it I've always got the experimentation Is something that you do in the real world It's not necessarily a controlled experiment because there's so many variables to that experiment to which you never control You're simply observing how you change to certain degree of conditions and so It is in that process of learning Because you're never going to have a complete answer to any of your experiments It is that process that allows us to evolve and so that is what you're encouraging In this next generation The ones that are listening the ones that are Being challenged by let's say c4 and other things That's that's going to get their interest and when you do They're going to pay attention and they're going to see what those variables are and so I applaud what you're doing Yeah, you know, I come from a research science background and you know I'd love because it's just such a sterile environment You know these laboratory conditions and it was all about politics and raising money and it lost Like the adventure and the excitement of discovery and that was so much of what science was built on you know Before they were called scientists. They were called experimental gentleman And these were people with resources that were going out and doing they's really just tremendous experiments to discover things and going on Voyages and adventures and I want to bring back that sense of adventure for the younger generation So they get excited about it and they don't sit home apathetically watching television But they actually want to go out and they want to do something about it You know, and that's that's where we have the symbiosis and that is My goal with my rights is to get kids to go outside and look at their horizons and realize that beyond their Horizon is somebody that they're already connected to and in that connection We give them a reason to do something that they do not do routinely.

Let's go outside and look up And we come from a generation is that's what you did. I mean I grew up in South Florida. So When this shuttle became a thing You know from where I was you could see the launch and it was actually an event in school We'd watch the launch on TV and then the entire school would run outside So we could see the vapor trail as it went and I just don't know that we do enough of that anymore Yes, it looks great on YouTube But go see it for real Feel it and with what you guys are doing.

I mean, I can't even I'm trying to fathom A hundred airships flying through my town If I were a teacher I would shut the building down. This is what we're doing today And let's talk about how these things happen and what makes them do what they do and and like he said with you guys You're fostering that next generation of of that thirst for knowledge like we know in lot But there's so much more that we don't Yeah, in fact, that's one of the things that I often say is that you know, we 95% of our oceans have not been discovered and you know, that's amazing to me Yeah, I mean, we know more about space than we do our oceans. That's crazy.

Below is my mind That's crazy. You think about to you like They started deep sea mining now they because they found magnesium nodules in very places So now we're we're deep sea mining in areas where we've not discovered you know, what's down there So we we are highest probability to find you know, cures for cancer and other kinds of these diseases exist in the ocean and we don't even know what we're killing Marcus Rhyman who's just landed who's not here with us today, but he'll be here tomorrow His team discovered the first biophluorescent turtle last year in the Solomon Islands And I think I said something on Yahoo about that. Yeah, and we're gonna show that tomorrow at 330 But you know that you think about that like okay, so think about how much how much technology we have how much we know And we're just discovering something but the real question is is how long do we have on the planet to be able to continue to study these animals And what other animals are being killed that we don't even know because of our actions Wow the ultimate ripple effect.

Yeah All right, we want to make sure make sure you guys go into where the party because there's not a lot of the night left But before we go I want us to want to start with you sir. When is the race happening? Right now We are on target four september 28, 2019 Finishing may first 2020 and so What that entails is a series of races London Berlin we'll go to Berlin with the largest assembled air fleet ever the irony This spectacle now if you're German If you're German what this means Doc almost tell us if it's literally When you're a child and you're learning your odd bet says when you get to zed Zeppelin is what is in their culture.

Yep. It is what makes them feel proud We arrive in Berlin on October 3rd German Unification Day The most important day in their calendar like our fourth of July like boxing day like union day It is their day and when we arrive there we are guaranteed to have 83 million bands It's a blitz for peace if you think about it nice So if people want to find out more give us all the social media the websites everything the world sky race Think of it as like the world the globe the sky like the air race a very fierce competition the world sky race.com Any other social media that you want to plug is we're all about shameless self-promotion Well at this moment. I will have to say I am a bit of a ladite Okay, and so the social media aspect is not as developed as it will be but I've been promised A terabyte Well, I found your Facebook page.

I've already linked you to ours. He is he is sky commissioner. Nice.

I love his title Thank you. And gentlemen shameless self-promotion go tomorrow Right here here at earth x film 330 p.m. At the African American Museum, which is directly behind where we are right now Yeah, yeah, it'd be awesome to see everyone there in the website that we're directing everyone too is our to our dot And then I'm assuming q&a after tomorrow.

Well, we're gonna do we're actually gonna do about five clips because you know The way we've designed these are we they're small clips that are a little kind of docus series So we're gonna run a clip and then we'll do a q&a. We'll run another clip. We'll do a q&a And we'll give everybody kind of the the trajectory of kind of where a lot of these things happen Dock anything you want to plug?

Oh, yeah Let me get comfortable So you can kind of find most things on experimental gentlemen.com I also have a youtube channel Called in the making and that's Look up in the making you'll find that and that's me traveling around the world discovering innovation and technology Um on Facebook. I'm doc north on instagram. I'm a doc north on twitter dr.

North and you should Do you want to listen? Oh, yeah, so yeah, you can do I'm on instagram at Jeremy McCain because I mean, I don't know I should probably get more official with it, but you know, it's j. You know for me There was a learning curve with instagram too I'm using it more now because it can feed my my Twitter and my Facebook Because like once people start falling in one place, you're like, I don't want to do a new one But just just make it simple and it's kind of like the guy that's like, oh, hey, do I have your number?

And he's got like seven phone numbers. You only need one phone number. I have two phone numbers Gentlemen, all the best to you tomorrow.

I mean, no things are gonna go well for you. Oh, we got posters dude dude Oh, sweet. We have squirrel skyrace posters.

We're hold on to those keep those go enjoy the party Thank you so much for sitting down with us all the best to all of you. Oh, pretty these are beautiful Yeah, I can put those in a very sit put those on the bench behind you, but those are very very safe place Don how you hold on that brother Oh So awesome This all these world skyrace posters just just stop down the show because they're so awesome Ah, yes, that's not far enough north for you Not oh man, that's one of my favorite.

That is amazing Like I just can't wait see I want to go to there You want to go to I want to go to there. You got the UK one? Yeah, well, he's got we got the one that's a handful already you catered I hold on that brother.

What's in my hand? You got a little Mick ultra happening. Yes Not an official sponsor of the show who that Japan was beautiful.

Oh There is not a big enough frame to say all these things in that would be our entire new studio when we get it Which is we're getting closer every day Ha Can they see all these on the website Okay, world skyrace.com because if these things are on the website you have to go check them out They're stunning. They're absolutely and they're different posters from different stops on that the race will be going through There's the porch of oh, that's pretty that's gorgeous every time I think he can't one up himself. Oh, yeah, I mentioned I have this one Thank you so much for sharing that that's amazing.

I'm such a fan Thank you. Thank you, sir That is a beautiful beautiful idea. I know I mean I mean growing up here We had the the hot air balloon festival that we still have it every year Well that I mean it literally was in my backyard.

That's how I found out that it was it did it how really when it was in miskept Uh, I mean, I was I was waking up One Saturday morning and I kept hearing what sounded like a flame throw are going off I ran out to my backyard and there's 18 hot air balloons flying over my freaking house And kind of find out they had flown from the local mall to the park right behind my neighborhood And it became a thing every year I can't imagine what going from something like a hot air balloon festival to something like this Well, you've got it right uh a Flotilla of of Zeppelin's flying over your city Don and Daniel Duret both joining us back down the center We're talking about You know we dropped a Moab somewhere in here. I do not want any like Zeppelin's dropping Moab's point He did he come in at the bar part of the conversation Well, uh, sorry, do you have any trips? I went back and forth on that in my car because you're doing work brother Yeah, I know I did my car.
