It is 701 of the East Coast.
It is 401 on the West Coast.
It is the 19th of February in the year of our Lord 2017.
Season 7 episode 30, the clubhouse is live and on the air.
We're happy that you're here.
No matter how you listen to us, whether you're listening live on you stream, whether
you're listening on our archive, or whether you subscribe to this show and your favorite podcast
thing app, or just glide your here, 380 times.
This voice has welcomed you to the show.
Welcome.
Again, my name is Rob, I am the executive producer of the clubhouse podcast and baby
I'm on a three day weekend.
What would?
I should get this leap in a little bit tomorrow and be kind of nice.
A little bit different tonight, if you saw our post on social media, it could get real
interesting.
Chad's not here.
Chad is not feeling well.
He's under the weather, so we hope he gets well soon.
Maybe he'll check into the chat room if he's able to later on.
I see Russ is already in the chat room.
Russ with a big day today.
He got to meet Katherine Bock, who you might remember is Daisy Duke.
He was at the auto rom.
I got to meet her.
Got to picture whether today.
I saw that picture on social media.
He also said it to me as well.
So Russ would glad you're here, but without here, Chad's not here.
Don's not even here.
Don had some other stuff going on.
So I had to go to the bullpen, call in the lefty.
So joining me tonight for the show, giving a little bit of a different perspective on
things.
He is Andrew Beckham.
Welcome back to the show, sir.
Thank you.
Great to be back.
Oh, you're on one of the hotermikes today, sir.
Yeah, that's a good thing.
That's a good thing.
All right, so a couple of corrections and updates from last week's show.
First of all, we did talk a lot last week being the six year anniversary to the day
of our very first paper view show.
That is Facebook fooled me.
It's seven, six years ago to tomorrow.
So it's actually tomorrow, it wasn't last week.
And Wikipedia shows Braun Strowman at six, eight, three, eighty, five.
I still debate the three, eighty, five part, but Wikipedia's Wikipedia.
Have a couple of quick shout outs before we get rolling tonight.
We have two very important people to the show having birthdays today.
First of all, we want to send a quick shout out to L.F.A. himself.
Jeff McDonough's Dave Scott's son.
They are down in Galveston this weekend, doing the Texas MartiGraw because why would you
Marty Graw when it's actually Marty Graw, which is like next week.
But whatever.
But happy birthday.
I'll have to help you guys have a great time down there in Galveston and very close
friend of the show and someone who I love dearly.
Heather Follman has a birthday for an in mind from back home.
She's celebrating today.
So we wanted to say happy birthday to her and she listens to the show.
So if you listen to the show and we know it's your birthday, you're going to get a shout
out.
Especially if you're her because she's very, very close to me and I love her dearly.
So.
Again, we can't be all about sharing with
the self-promotion if we can't promote the best right.
All right.
Also, big announcement if you missed it on our social media, which apparently a bunch
of you did because I'm surprised I'm not getting flooded with emails, but we're going
to talk about it because I've gotten a few, but I haven't gotten enough.
Are you a fan of musicals?
Are you a fan of musicals in a movie theater?
No.
Are you a fan of John Goodman?
Are you a fan of peanut butter?
Would you see a movie with peanut butter?
With John Goodman?
No.
That's the whole different thing.
Our friends at Allied Integrated Marketing whom we love dearly as well.
They have given us the ability to give out five pair.
I don't want to have four left.
For each of these shows, there's the last shows coming up this Wednesday night at the
it's at a theater that's at MacArthur in 635.
I believe it's a Regent Theater.
Newsies is going to be shown in their theater on the big screen, the Broadway production
with Jeremy Jordan, who you might know as is win from Supergirl.
He's involved in this.
We are giving away four more pair of tickets.
So we got left.
For Wednesday night, February the 23rd, 7 o'clock.
All you got to do is email me, Rob at theclubhousepodcast.com.
In the subject line of your email put newsies and then make sure I have your email address,
I will get those tickets to YouTube sweet.
So if you want to go this Wednesday night to the Regent Theater and MacArthur and 635
in Irving, 7 o'clock to see newsies, the Broadway production on the big screen, we're
going to just give you a pair of tickets because that's how we roll.
So just email me, I'll get them to you.
It's a great production.
We've actually seen it live here in the Dallas Fort Worth area, but not with this cast.
And I had some friends inviting the mind to go this past week, said they had a blast.
It was a wonderful time.
So get me that email so we can get you to see newsies for free.
Because we like to give stuff away.
All right, ready to get this thing under.
I'm ready.
All right.
So you know what next Sunday is?
No, Daytona.
NASCAR returns next Sunday.
Now I don't know if you're aware, but they've changed the point system this year.
I again.
I've been saying for years, I have the solution for NASCAR's point system to make
everybody happy and you have a clear cut champion in the question is, did they listen?
They did not.
All right, so I need to switch a thinking cap on because this is how this works.
Racers will now consist of three stages with championship implications in each stage.
The top 10 finishes in each stage, I'm sorry, will be awarded additional championship
points.
Okay.
Okay.
You with me so far.
Yes.
The winner of the first two stages of each race will receive one playoff point.
The race winner will receive five playoff points.
Each playoff point will be added to a driver's reset total following the 26th race
if that competitor makes the playoffs.
Okay.
We're not done.
The structure also ensures that competition will be dialed up throughout the duration
of the race season as points for both stage winners and race and winners will transfer
into the postseason and then official regular season champion will be crowned.
That regular season champion will be rewarded with 15 playoff points to the drivers playoff
reset of 2000 and that which also means you're going to get two breaks during the race.
Each race.
Oh gosh.
So it's like hockey.
Three periods of auto racing.
So how many laps is a stage?
I guess they just do, because not every race is the same amount of, oh yeah, remember
they're late.
So I guess they just take whatever the laps are divided by three and there you go.
Oh, all playoff points will carry through to the end of the third round of the post
season with the championship four racing straight up at homestead championship points.
They're we're still going championship points following the first two stages.
Each race will be rewarded on a descending scale with the winner receiving 10 second nine
and so on the race winner following the final stage will really receive 40 points second
35 34 33 and so on in addition the top 10 drivers in regular season points will also receive playoff points
and second place earning 10 points third eight fourth place seven and so on.
Okay, that's I have a feeling this is going to be explained every weekend.
I like to quote the great character Austin Powers.
I've gone cross side.
Yeah.
So if the party of the first party is not the party of the second party, but it's part of the third party because the party of the first party.
What the heck just happened here?
So if you win the first stage, it's like, okay, what's my, you know, why do I even need to race anymore?
I've already got two points. I just couldn't just.
Exactly.
Thank you.
Here's how you fix it.
Every race winner gets one point second place gets two three four all the way down and to the season
lowest score wins there's your point system or how about when the most races win the chase.
Mind blowing.
That's too simple.
This is the sport that does it's super bowl in the beginning of the year.
So true.
Well, I mean, they got to be wondering.
I guess NBC coverage starts tomorrow because remember Daytona is a weak long event.
Oh, that's right.
They're kicking off the NASCAR season.
Oh my gosh.
I don't care how many times I have to say it.
I hate math.
And this is not helping.
I don't mind math, but this is just.
Assigning.
I think the first soul ball.
I may be the worst.
So while you're while your brain is reeling from that, we're just going to move on and talk some TV talk.
Fans of Lucifer don't know anybody that watches this show.
Do you know anybody watching this show?
Me either.
Fox has given it season three.
Somebody's watching it.
It's not me.
I see it after the end of something that I watch on Gotham comes on before Gotham.
Which is now 24 legacy, which I'm still struggling with.
I don't know.
Amazon has given Goliath season two.
Again, I don't know anybody that watches it, but it wouldn't be.
But what this looks interesting.
I just don't have time.
Yeah, same here.
Disney channel has given season two to tangled the series.
Never seen the movie.
No.
Which, this, this drives Chad and that that I have not seen tangled.
Why?
Because it does have the chuck in it.
Which it's not that I don't want to see tangled again.
Time is not my, my friend lately.
Right.
But I didn't caught up with all my shows.
And I'm not to couple of movies off the DVR this weekend.
All right.
Now I'm in the middle of Terminator genesis.
Which I'm about to quarter the way through.
It's not that bad.
I'm enjoying it.
Exactly.
I did watch the curry over today.
Oh, that's a good movie.
It's slow.
But I liked the last half hour.
Oh, yeah.
There was a lot of fun.
It was.
And I did watch the documentary that William Schatter did on all the Star Trek
Captains called the Captains.
Was that good?
Very much enjoyed that.
There's going to be a descendants too from Disney.
If you remember, this is like the next generation of Disney characters.
And it's going to feature characters from Peter Pan.
I did see a teaser ad from it this week.
Interesting.
So if you got that going for you.
NBC has renewed super store for season three.
This is a show very much enjoyed by the lovely and talented Mrs.
Urban.
Is this how to do with shopping?
Yes.
Okay.
This is like a, I guess they work in like a Costco or a Sam's or something of its
Elle.
Okay.
It's got to be better than power looks because powerless is shrug.
To say the best.
Also the the wife is a big fan of Outlander.
No, that's not just there's a different one.
She's watching, but Outlander season three.
That's going to drop in September.
Okay.
I think that's on the W.G.N.
If I'm not mistaken.
First star is one of the two.
I don't know.
Did you know CBS is rebooting SWAT?
No.
Yeah.
What?
We've run out of ideas, dude.
The pie.
What's going to be directed by the great Justin Linn.
And it will have feature a Stephanie Sigmund.
So get ready for that.
Have you heard this bachelor at problem?
No.
So for the first on the bachelor.
Russell wanted to quote,
Cupid on the NASCAR point system.
A little word bubble that comes up when he does.
So the bachelor's been on for more than 15 years.
They've had more than 30 additions of this thing.
So for the first time ever the bachelor at,
which will be the next season.
Because remember usually one of the spurn
contestants becomes the lead the next season.
Right?
So for the first time ever,
the bachelor at or bachelor either one,
but this will be the bachelor at.
It's going to have an African American lead for the first time.
She is Rachel Lindsay a 31 year old lawyer.
She's on the current season.
So let that settle in for a minute.
Yeah.
And I had a thought.
And I was like,
that can't be.
I can't be right.
Right.
Until two days later,
when a friend of mine,
thank you, Mary,
who watches the bachelor went,
wait a minute.
They made this announcement.
She's still on the show.
Yes.
Exactly.
You still on the show.
Spoiler alert.
Spoiler alert.
She's not going to win.
Not at all.
Not even close.
And you know,
you know, a little cherry on top of that.
She was a great below me in high school.
Let's see, really.
Yes.
Did you know where?
You're just going by her age.
Oh, yeah.
No.
I would talk to her every now and then.
You know, see her in the hallway.
Hey, I was like, all right.
Yeah.
Like, for real, are you just making this?
No.
That's serious.
You really know this girl.
Yeah.
First.
You know, I said,
I said,
if I, by social media post before the show,
this could get interesting.
I did not know this was where this was going to go.
Yes.
Wow.
You know the back of the rat.
Huh.
I'm putting that in the description up tonight.
It's going to be the title yet.
It's too early.
Right.
There's a button behind that I rise for watching these shows.
He walked.
I think he's watching every season of them.
And, and now that I actually have something to tell him for that,
he's like, he's going to want to meet her.
Give me a little like, no.
So things like, I knew of her.
Like, we were best friends.
But, yeah.
But hey, you're, you're closer to the situation than I am.
Right.
So you got that going for you.
Uh, Gina Gershawn will be joining Brooklyn 99 in season four.
Is she still attractive?
Uh, I can neither confirm nor deny because I haven't seen her in a minute.
Okay.
Yeah.
But I, I have heard rumors that there's been a lot of work done there.
That doesn't surprise me.
So, uh, we've got three people that are joining Star Trek Discovery.
Whatever it finally debuts.
Uh, Terry Serpico, Molly Pincholi, and San Varta, Varta Lumios.
Varta Lumios.
I don't know.
That was the most exciting part of that.
Uh, American crime story announces three two new people joining its cast.
The great Edgar Ramirez, who I'm a big fan of.
And Darren Chris, uh, remember this will deal with the aftermath of,
uh, of, uh, uh, uh, oh no, so season three is going to be the Versace murder.
season two is going to deal with the aftermath of Katrina.
So there's to that.
Uh, and some very interesting information of people doing American blank story stuff.
American horror story.
Yeah.
And it announced that season seven is going to focus on the 2016 election.
What, of American horror story?
Oh, wow.
Yeah.
That's a little unstable from.
say, well, I'm, I may actually watch a couple episodes.
He was like, I thought the people were like,
lighting the people versus OJ Simpson.
I thought it was okay.
I thought the, the 30 for 30, OJ made in America was much,
much better.
And it's getting a theatrical run.
It is all six and a half hours of it.
Wow.
Because it's up for Best Documentary Long Feature,
for the Oscars next week.
Oh, okay.
Speaking of which, I don't remind everybody,
I'm not remind.
I don't think we've announced this.
Next week, we're going to be on a little early,
because we're going to do our Oscar picks next week.
We're all about the Oscars next week for the first time in this show's history.
We're going to dedicate a show to the Oscars.
We would have done it for the Grammys,
but it would have taken a day and a half.
So, because there's 19,000 Grammys they give out every year.
Right.
So next Sunday, we're going to go on at six Eastern three Pacific.
So five o'clock central.
And we're just going to go around the room.
We're going to give our Oscar predictions.
And then we're going to go into the green room.
We're going to watch the show.
So we're just letting you know now.
We're going to be on early next week.
So we're going to do our Oscar predictions for you.
People have asked, why don't you guys do it?
Well, we're going to do it.
Yeah.
The Empire asks, we answer.
So, you know about this Mayans MC.
Dude, do you not?
I've heard of it.
This is the spin-off of Sons of Anarchy.
Okay.
Edward James almost has joined the cast of that.
Really? Yes.
So say we all.
Is he the lead?
They haven't said who he's spending it.
He's just joined the cast.
Okay.
Do you see Nick Cannon has quit America's Got Talent?
No, why?
He apparently went on some ramps
and has stand-up special recently about race and getting jobs and things of that.
And it made him realize that he doesn't need to be on America's Got Talent.
Brother, what else do you got?
No one knows.
Yeah, nothing else.
And speaking of that, it was announced this week that NBC wants to revive American Idol.
Didn't they just put a nail in this coffin?
That was Fox.
What are they going to do?
But they've got the voice and they've got America's Got Talent.
Why do you want Idol too?
I don't know.
There's no point in it.
I mean the voice is just...
Run them over.
Run Idol.
And that's back.
I believe next week.
So that my mom will be loading up on my team.
But I've been keeping up.
You know, I got to send a shout out to the gym at my office building.
Yeah.
Because they've got a really good Wi-Fi connection.
So I'm able to actually watch more of my shows than normal.
Which is kind of nice because that way when Saturday rolls around.
I don't have to lock it in a full day to catch up on all my shows.
It's only maybe three or four hours.
Oh, that's really good.
So, I mean, I still got to watch RAW and smack down here because
I don't trust Hulu to give me everything because I don't think they do.
Yeah, I don't think so.
So, there's that.
TV that'll be on DVD and Blue Ray this Tuesday.
Doctor Who the Return of Doctor of Mysterio was a one-off that they did.
Let's see what else have we got going on here.
Grayson Frankie.
This is the series on Netflix with Lily Tomlin.
Have you seen it?
I have not.
I need their vibe.
Okay, but season two will be on.
They're starting to release a lot of their TV shows.
They are on DVD and Blue Ray.
Good.
Lou Grant season four.
I know that show went that one.
I need either.
American Masters, the Maya Angelu episode.
We'll be available this week.
And WWE's the best of RAW and SmackDown Live 2016.
Oh, I think this map down this will be very short.
Yeah, moving on.
Two hours to come on.

early obligated to say that.
And Jules was sick as well, but Chad says she's feeling better.
He's not.
So we need them to get well real soon.
Let's do a little POI, shall we?
POI stands for Person of Interest.
It is a segment that we do on this show where we take a person or an entity
and we debate their greatness or lack of their of.
Thank God Andrews here because these don't work real well on by myself.
We did that once and I don't ever want to do that again.
The shortest show in history.
And I'll be, no, no, that show went in our 45.
Really, yeah, don't ask me how.
I guess, but we did it, Dodden.
I'm going to have, of course, because I'm just the only one
of clubhouse proper that's here.
I have both POI and the list, but POI this week,
I want, because if we're getting close to that time of year,
we're about a month away, give or take a couple of days.
Actually two months, I'm sorry, I didn't do my math correctly.
We're about two months since and change away from the NFL draft.
Something that we've talked about on POI before,
I'm not a huge fan of the current format.
It's too over the top, but just let's pick some people and go.
But something that drives me really, really nuts that I want to talk about tonight,
and they're doing them, they've been doing them now for two weeks, are mock drafts.
It's way too early.
It's too early, it makes no sense.
I don't care.
Right.
Like, who does this benefit?
Who does it benefit?
Like, I have all the respect in the world for Melakaipur Jr.
I really do.
The guy is...
There's no one on this planet that's more entrenched in college football than this man.
Right.
Although that hairline started to receive a little bit on this.
Some of the best hairline sports is starting to go away, I'm a little concerned.
Hopefully it's not a Samsung thing.
But, but, I just don't like these...
You're here, the best people that I think you're getting,
that's actually my Adam Shepter.
My sources, tell me.
I just, these drive me crazy, because
even at an 80% accuracy, I still don't care.
Exactly.
Well, and more eight weeks away, like you said.
And so, how do I care about what you think next week?
Oh, set of weeks away.
So you would see what positions changed.
And, I mean, even as a fan of my team as I am,
you telling me who the top 10 picks are?
Number one, my team doesn't have a pick on the top 10.
I had to look at the mock round one board
where we were at for lunch the other day.
Just like to see where the dolphins were.
And where the, where the bucks were.
But, like, one pick a draft does not make.
No, it doesn't.
Now, every team has multiple needs.
Now, according to Khyper's last mock draft that I saw,
do my dolphins need a corner back?
Yes, they do.
But, these just,
and part of it's because I don't deal well with,
with fantasy.
I can't do fantasy football.
I tried to play fantasy football a couple of times.
And it takes away from my enjoyment of the game.
Like, I get it for people who maybe casual fans
that they can learn something from it.
I love football.
I live in brief football.
Football is my favorite sport in the entire world.
Right.
I don't need help in joining football.
I can watch anybody play football.
Yeah, but if I, if I have a fantasy team,
I have to pick teams I'm going to root for because I have certain players on that date.
I don't care.
I just want to put ball.
And I feel this way about mock drafts.
I don't care.
Yeah, like, let's just get to the third weekend in April
and be done with it.
How nice that would be is like, like, this pipe dream we're talking about is
it's all based off money.
Somehow the SPN and whoever is getting money from what I've been told
part of ESPN's deal with the NFL.
They have, there's only like a five day per year allowance.
They get whether or not they're not a lot that they can not talk about the NFL.
Okay.
I've read that somewhere recently.
Really?
The margin for for sport centers that you can get through without some form of NFL representation
is incredibly small per year.
That's insane.
But with that check, they're cutting.
Uh, yeah, because, you know,
promote our product.
Direct TV cut nine billion dollars a year for the Sunday ticket,
which this whole direct TV now thing.
I wonder how this is going to affect that.
I don't know.
Could you watch any game at any time?
Direct TV now you don't even have a set top box.
It's all done through your Apple TV or through a Roku or through your Xbox one
or something like that, which is very interesting to me because
this thing's a game changer and we're going to talk about, we're going to talk about
direct TV now as a little bit down the road.
Because spoiler alert, I'm I ain't very closely right now.
Yeah.
I would not be surprised if I am a direct TV now customer by the end of the summer.
Really?
Just going to put it out there.
Okay.
AT&T's like fine, we got your money either way.
Because I'm hearing strong rumors that you versus getting phased out, which makes me sad.
Oh, it is.
Makes me very, very sad.
But this direct TV now thing I got my eye on it.
We're going to talk about it down the road.
If you walk into AT&T store, it's direct TV now.
Let's direct TV everywhere.
Well, because you don't have a dish.
I'm okay with that.
I put a pin in it.
We'll talk about it later.
Because I don't want to talk about it now because you're in P.O.I.
Yeah.
But this mock draft thing.
I don't know that any, but there's nobody that I even know that's just like,
I got to hear about diapers now draft.
I got to know who I don't care.
Like, I don't care on draft day when it's like,
the 10 best cornerbacks still available.
Don't care.
Just give me a pick.
All right.
Tell me who's going to play for my team.
Yeah.
Or tell me at least who's going to training camp.
And I hate the 10 minute window image.
Oh, wow.
And I almost think that they shouldn't even allow these players to come there.
It's too big of a show.
They're hyphenome up too much.
Two words, Brady Quinn.
I think we all remember that nightmare.
Yes.
This is a complete debacle.
I honestly believe, especially in the first round,
you're longest time for the pick can be five minutes.
Because everybody knows who they're taking in the first round.
Exactly.
And if you, if your player gets taken,
you've got to list three or four deep of who you're going to take.
The fact that you're giving me 10 to 15 minutes and a first round,
you're insane.
Yes.
Like, fourth, fifth round.
I kind of get that because the pool is getting a little shallow.
But it's just, and maybe that's why these mock drafts are so important
because all these agents are, are all these scouts.
You're looking like, okay, so they're not that good.
So do it in newsletter.
I don't need three segments on sports center to get dedicated to it.
I don't need a one-hour show because it's in the off season on NFL Insiders about a mock draft.
I don't care.
Right.
If it could be a subscription service, that would be great.
Do it as a podcast.
I don't, yeah.
They're not that tough to do.
I've been doing one for almost seven years.
Right.
And it's their own forum.
And like you said, if it is a podcast, it's their own forum.
And we're not beat down by it.
Do a YouTube channel.
Do a YouTube channel and you do a video.
Do whatever you want.
Just don't take up my valuable sports center time.
Right.
I don't need that on the crawler on ESPN, especially in February.
Right.
For the love of the almighty.
Breaking news.
I mean, someone so broke a leg.
National signing day whips me enough as it is.
I don't need this coupled with it.
Right.
And especially for two months before the draft even start.
And do you know anybody that puts any stock in this at all?
Because I don't.
I don't need it.
It drives me to the brink of insanity.
It really, really does.
They only the only way it is.
It's it's good name recognition for people that don't want to call this football.
I mean, and I respect the crap out of guys like Mel Kiper Jr.
That are like, yeah.
He knows like the third string half back that plays at Weber State.
Like, yeah.
God bless you, sir.
Yeah.
You watch a lot of tape.
It's kind of like jaws.
Exactly.
God bless jaws.
Just want to say he knows so much about.
I honestly believe about jaws.
I believe he really does.
I don't think he has like a staff that gives him all of his stuff.
I really think he's just that obsessed with the sport of American football.
That he's in the vault just all day.
Just watch a tape.
Oh, yeah.
Doesn't surprise me if he was because jaws is that in depth.
Again, I don't.
It's not my intent to disrespect people like Mel Kiper Jr.
I just don't think that A.
I need it now or B that I need to do at all.
You're taking that my sports every time.
Right.
Give me a list.
Make it on the right side of the your ESP and home page.
They're here to see mine on the website.
There you go.
Yeah.
Have a nice little web show.
That's right.
I can read it if I want.
I can go as steep as I want.
Do the 300th pick or stop at number seven.
Okay, I got to take a breath.
Yeah.
Getting all worked up here.
Because you know what is NBA all star weekend?
Oh gosh.
And I have watched absolutely none of it.
Oh, and I can tell you exactly how much you've missed.
What's the over under about 600?
I think so.
In the the all star game with the least amount of defense of any sport on
God's green earth.
Right.
It's got to be a shade under 400.
Because it's got to it's got to be about three.
That fires up here in about an hour, right?
Yeah.
Oh, and don't get home.
The three point contest and the dunk contest yesterday.
A business.
I've heard that all of your big players just weren't even involved.
Oh, yeah, no, they weren't.
The dunk contest.
I don't even know what that was.
Jasper apparently want to make a guess appearance.
Jasper, you okay, son?
Okay, yeah, all right.
Long as you're okay.
Just it is it.
Hey, this is that show.
So we are officially at the halfway point in the NBA season.
So let's go over your standings in the Eastern Conference at Lannick Division.
It's fun.
Come here.
Come on.
Come here. Good boy.
The Brooklyn Nets have not even broken double digit win.
Are you serious?
They're nine and 47.
Oh, that's so sad.
For a arena that nice.
Right.
That bar clay center is a nice boy.
They are 27 and a half games back.
Seven, seven of their nine wins.
Seven at home.
They're on a 14 game.
What was the strawberry?
Like, wow.
I did not see that until just now.
How God they must be awful.
I don't I don't think I could name you a player on the Nets.
Yeah, I got nothing.
I got nothing.
They are 12 games back on the sixers.
Let me put that in perspective for you.
The sixers have actually have a decent young team though.
With the first pick in the 2017 NBA draft.
That's got to be a guarantee.
Oh, yeah.
It's a lottery.
But right now, that would be a guarantee.
Let's see.
76ers are a game and a half back on the Nicks.
God, what another team that's a mess.
Yeah.
My boss's boss is a huge Nicks fan.
And every day when we have our team,
how do we just, we start talking about stuff.
I'll just start shaking his head like you're thinking about the Nicks.
It's okay, I know.
Yeah.
And then that Carmelo.
And the Nicks are 10 back on Toronto.
Where did Toronto come from this year?
Because they're four games back on Boston for first in the division.
Yeah.
Well, you know, they've been a decent young team.
In the central division, Millowawk.
I like the new, the new logo they're using.
Yeah.
It's very sharp.
And you know what, they're actually 16 games in front of Brooklyn.
Good.
They're 25 and 30.
They have one of the most exciting young players coming up the box too.
Giannis and Tico.
Oh, that's the Greek freak everywhere.
Yes.
Yeah.
They've won three in a row.
Yeah.
You know, I'll actually the all-star game comes up here
about a half an hour.
Okay.
Eight o'clock Eastern.
Let's see, their 14 games back there.
A game behind Detroit.
So I heard a rumor this week that Detroit's going to be moving.
Out of the palace.
Really?
They're going to be playing in the little Caesars arena.
I did not know this.
Did you hear that because, you know, the founder of those
users passed away this past week.
He also owned the bread wings.
Oh, okay.
Did you hear that the story that came out about him?
No.
That nobody knew until after he passed away,
apparently he paid Rosa Parks's rent for like the last 10 to 15 years of her life.
No way.
Didn't want anybody to know.
Wow.
That's a great story.
Yeah.
Let's see.
That Detroit team is a game behind Chicago.
We should co-go into Detroit fighting it out for four and five in the division.
Think about that for a minute.
The bowls are a game behind Indiana.
But Indiana's 11 back on Cleveland.
So the brawn stop complaining.
Yeah.
You've got a cakewalk to the Eastern Conference finals.
Really?
I can't even make excuses for him anymore.
Yeah.
Orlando, 21 and 37 point.
They're going to do something with that team.
They're 14 and a half back in the division.
They're four behind Charlotte and Charlotte's lost four in a row.
Really?
Charlotte is a half game back on my beloved heat.
Who are not very good this year.
The heat are seven and a half back on the Hawks.
The Hawks are two and a half back on Washington.
So Washington's even though they've won four in a row.
They're not real holding on to that division real well.
In the Western Conference Pacific Division.
Four NX 18 of 39.
But they have twice as many wins as Brooklyn.
And they're 29 and a half back in that division.
But you look at that division.
At the break, 29 and a half is probably in any other division would be a lot better.
They're a half game back on the Lakers who've lost two in a row.
The Lakers are five and a half back on Sacramento.
Sacramento looks like 11 and a half back on the Clippers.
But the Clippers who have won four in a row still 12 back on Golden State.
Though those two teams, it's just ridiculous.
Yeah, enough with them.
Yeah.
Who, and go back 20 years ago.
Hey, you know what?
The Clippers are going to be 20 times better than the Lakers in 2016, 2017.
You're here.
Yeah, right.
At 20 bucks on that.
Exactly.
And the Warriors, too.
You, you would have never thought they would have been that good.
Russ says, look at how they, uh, they schedule the NBA all sort of.
We can during Mardi Gras.
But it's not a Mardi Gras yet.
That's right.
It's not a two weeks week during Texas Mardi Gras yet.
Right.
Because remember, this game was supposed to be in Charlotte tonight, really.
But the whole Charlotte law with the bathrooms thing,
they moved it to New Orleans.
That's right.
Yeah.
So apparently, that's coming, uh, thing here, too.
Oh, yeah.
We're not going to super roll for a while.
Well, uh, that law hasn't passed yet.
That's true.
So in the Southwest Division, your Dallas Mavericks.
22 and 34 right now.
They've lost two in a row.
They're 21 games back in the division.
They're a half game back on the New and Oregon plugins.
But they've won 21 a row.
The predictions are 10 and a half back on Memphis, Memphis 6 back on Houston.
And San Antonio, are they the quietest team in the league this year?
Every year, they fly under the radar every year.
And I don't understand it because how can you,
when you're this good consistently?
How do you fly to the radar all the time?
They're not, uh, they're not that, uh, uh, uh.
They're, uh, they're not the 60 team, I guess.
I guess.
Because they're four up in the division.
They're 43 and 13 right now, sir.
That's crazy. And in the Northwest Division, Minus Sword!
Really not the Northwest?
No, it's not.
Uh, 22 and 35, they're 13 back.
Portland's lost three in a row,
and they're only a game and a half up on Minnesota, Minnesota,
and Portland's two back on Denver.
Denver is six and a half back on OKC.
OKC, three back on Utah right now.
Utah's another team.
You're leading the division.
Nobody's talking about you.
I think it's just a general lack of interest in the NBA currently.
I just, I said it before, and I'll say it again.
This year, I have not been ready for the NBA or the NHL,
and I mildly intrigued by baseball right now.
Yeah.
I mean, I'm ready for baseball.
I mean, we've had NBA since October,
and they're not going to be done until almost May.
That is so long.
Well, you heard that they were talking about me,
but again, the playoffs going to July.
Yeah.
Do you hear what pops that about that?
Yeah.
You get to get the coach to team because I'm going to be unpaid today.
Yeah.
A lot of people say a lot of things like Greg Popovich.
I find him funny.
Yes.
Because he may do it.
Yeah.
He may do that.
Because zero, zero, you know what?
Yeah.
Exactly.
All right.
So let's get into music talk.
The Grammys were last Sunday, 26 million viewers,
up just over a million from last year.
Yeah.
With the Adele doing very well.
Yeah.
She's so awesome.
She did all right.
Apparently the Metallica Gaff was somebody unplugged
a microphone.
And that's why you couldn't hear it.
Oh, wow.
But speaking of them, they're they're touring this summer
with avenged sevenfold and some band called Volbeat.
They're playing here at the stadium.
Really?
They're playing the stadium this year.
Nice.
So deaf tune.
Another touring.
A couple more tours.
Deaf tones going back out on the road with rise against.
That's a pretty good deal.
And news will be touring with 30 seconds to Mars.
Oh, it's a pretty good.
So Jared Leto and the boys getting back out on the road.
And a co-headlining tour this year.
Stone Sauer and corn.
Oh, touring together.
Interesting.
Because you know, we're getting to that that time of year.
We're going to start talking about music festivals.
Yeah.
Because summertime is music festival time.
So hey, MXPX was in town.
Wow.
They're still around.
Yeah.
They're a trees on Friday.
Oh, it's not a big fan of that venue.
Yeah.
Good venue.
All right.
Music new releases and places you get music new releases this week on Friday.
If you remember.
Aaron Watson is back.
Oh.
It's a name I haven't heard along with an album called.
I can't.
Oh, I can't wait.
Not to listen.
David Bowley has the physical release of no plan, which is an EP that he did.
Okay.
So everyone's in a while.
Actually, we're going to come back to this one.
A band with local ties.
Old 97's with a brand new album this year called Grave Yard Whistling.
Still panther.
We're going to move out of this week.
Called lower the bar.
Oh, wow.
I like to call it my autobiography.
But I always like to try to find bands in the new release list.
And I've never heard this band.
I don't know who they are.
But just their name alone.
Get to mention on this show.
King gizzard and the lizard wizard.
With flying micro tonal banana.
Oh, wow.
What?
You can say that five times fast.
That, that, that, that, that, that, that.
I, I, like, you know, this has to go on the show.
I don't know who they are.
I don't know what they play.
I've never heard of note.
But I'm putting this in the show.
That's greatness.
The fact that they took the time to come up with that and put that on everything.
Oh, oh, why don't put that on.
King gizzard and the lizard wizard.
Just makes me happy.
I don't know why it does.
I want to say they were not a sound mind when that.
Flying micro tonal banana.
Yeah.
Is this a minion soundtrack?
I don't know what's going on.
I don't know.
Oh, now we got to get them more him.
Oh, no.
I want to start.
I want to start outside of the world of wrestling first.
Because we have a wrestling trifecta.
This week's sir.
I want to start with Warren Frost who passed away yesterday.
Yesterday or today at the age of 91.
He was actually in the original and the reboot of Twin Peaks.
He was also featured.
He was one of the arch diocese in Cysterectu.
One of my favorite guilty pleasure films.
He was also in Cycle for the beginning.
He played Mr. Ross on Seinfeld.
Okay.
Played Billy Lewis on 18 episodes of Matlock.
Birds of Paradise.
He was in that as well.
This is the guy who's got a lot of skins on the wall.
And he was also slated to be Arnold.
He's actually shot the episodes or not.
But he was supposed to be in the new version of Twin Peaks as well.
Oh, playing Will Hayward.
Okay.
All right.
So two of these people.
That we're going to talk about right now.
We actually talked about on last week's show.
As being in poor health.
And since we've reported on that, they have both passed away.
First, we talked about Ivan Cole-off last week.
The Russian bear.
The guy that ended Bruno Samartino's nine and a half year streak at
WWF champion.
He also did a lot of work in WCW with the Russians.
Yeah.
Passed away at 74 and one of my personal favorites from back in the day.
George the animal steel.
Oh, really?
Passed away at 79.
He'd been having health problems for over a year.
I always remember George the animal steel because of the storyline that he did with
Macho Man Randy Savage.
And I'm sorry.
That's been an event.
Elizabeth was on a chair and she was the she went to the winner.
And he would always be the guy like he would open up the turn buckle and eat the foam.
Yeah.
And he'd have like a green lollipop before we went to the ring.
So his tongue was green.
Very hairy man.
I remember him being that one.
Bald and hairy.
Very strange.
I remember laser bags.
But the odd thing that not a lot of people know.
That dude was a college professor.
What?
He was.
He was indeed.
So he talked about the dichotomy of wrestling versus real life.
Like the key to Cole-off.
Great Russian wrestler.
No.
He's from the North Carolina.
Right.
But Georgian will still is one of my fairs.
WWE Hall of Famer.
And then we also found out we are hearing conflicting reports.
Wikipedia is reporting.
She has passed away.
Other sources are reporting that she's basically brain dead.
But on life support Nicole Bass.
Whoa.
If you remember her from the attitude here.
Yeah.
52 years old.
Is being reported.
She has passed away.
I was actually talking to my boss and a couple other people on Friday.
We were talking about something that kind of hits home.
If you're a long time professional wrestling fan like I am.
And like the people on the show are.
I was listening to a podcast probably about a year ago.
Marcus Alexander Bagwell was on Austin's podcast.
And he goes, I want you to think about something Steve.
He goes, I actually did the math.
90%.
Almost 90%.
I think it was 70%.
70% or 70%.
90%.
Of the people that I have been in the ring with.
Not just hung out.
Like in the ring with are gone.
And there was this long pause.
And Steve was like, whoa, I.
Because outside of the empty area, you may be about right for me too.
Wow.
And then you go back and you watch something like, because there's two different world
class documentaries.
The one Vince did.
Right.
Which is good.
Yeah.
But there was an independent film called Heroes of World Class.
Those are the guys that got the footage that Vince couldn't get to before they
got to it.
And at the end of it, they list all the people from world class that have died.
Really?
And that let's just go.
It goes and goes.
And you're like, oh my god.
That guy.
That guy.
That lady.
That guy.
Yeah.
It's.
You know, we're at that point in our lives, sir.
That's true.
You know.
Yeah.
Well, we've talked about how you in that last Indiana Jones film.
And when they say that.
God stops giving you starts taking away.
You know, it's.
To hear people like.
You know.
You know.
You know.
And we want to send the best to all four of these people.
Their families, their friends, their fans.
It's a segment we don't like to do every week.
But it's a segment that's important that we give.
We pay homage to the people that have paved the way.
For this generation of superstars or whatever field of pop culture they come from.
So we want to send our best to their family and friends.
Yeah.
Let's do a little bit of NHL talk right now.
Let's see.
I've already refreshed the these screens so we can take a look at this.
All right.
And the stars are still terrible.
How do you lose?
No.
They beat Tampa Bay.
Didn't they last night?
Yeah.
They don't beat Tampa Bay in over time last night.
Eastern division.
Eastern conference Atlantic division.
I live in a world where the Detroit red wings have their 12 points out of first place.
They're in the seller right now.
And that's insane to me.
Yeah.
They're tied with Tampa Bay.
Those two are four points behind Buffalo.
Buffalo's fighting in the seller.
As much as we hate the sobres.
Right.
But still, they're a point behind Toronto.
Toronto's a point behind Boston.
Boston's tied with my four to Panthers who by the way have won four in a row.
They're playing some hockey down there in sunrise.
Let's see.
And they are four points behind Otorua.
Otorua's two black two back on Montréal.
Oh, I'm a Canadian.
Awesome.
But Montréal's lost three in a row.
Hey.
Got to catch up.
And what is the other division in the Atlantic conference?
Are in the Eastern conference, sir?
Oh.
The Metropolitan.
The Metropolitan.
The Metropolitan.
Carolina.
56 points.
They're almost 30 out of first place right now.
They've lost three in a row.
They are four points behind the Devils.
It devils fighting for the seller.
That's really odd, too.
They're a point behind the flyers.
There's a point back on the islanders.
The islanders are 15 points back on the Rangers right now.
The Rangers are two back on Columbus.
Columbus is one back on the penguins.
The penguins are five back on the capitals.
Yeah.
Washington just.
Oh.
But they're just one of those teams.
I don't trust.
They're there.
Yeah.
They are there.
They're like the Cincinnati Bengals.
Yeah.
They're going to play off.
But don't expect much beyond that.
Yeah.
You're going to get there and lose.
It's exactly.
In the Western conference, in the Central Division that has no Eastern or Western.
Colorado, avalanche.
We're past the halfway point.
They have 34 points, sir.
They're 50 points out of first place.
They don't even average a point again.
Wow.
Yeah.
They played 56 names.
Holy cow.
They're 1638 and 2.
Hey.
At least I got two points off those times.
They're 22 points back on the stars.
Let's that sink in.
What a debacle.
Stars are three back on the Winnipeg.
Jets.
Winnipeg.
Three back on Nashville.
Five back on San Luis.
St. Louis is 12 back on Chicago.
But Chicago still has nine back on the Minnesota wild.
Minnesota's killing it in the Pacific Division.
The Arizona, coyote.
I'll never get used to that.
It sounds so weird.
20 30 in seven.
They're 47 points.
They're 29 points out of first.
They are 11 points back on that.
They're 25 points back on the King's two back on Calgary.
Calgary eight back on Aunt.
Who's two back on Edmonton and Hozanne.
Holsay 76 points.
So he's at the vision.
It's a weird year for hockey.
Yeah.
This you talk about parody in a sport.
Hockey's it right now.
Yeah.
And you know hockey there's one key thing to wearing hockey.
Just injuries.
If you are blessed with having not very many injuries.
You're going to do well.
gonna do well because it seems like every other team is. It's been a heck of a year for hockey.
This is the point in the show where we take
sports and pop culture and collide them as we talk a little bit of professional wrestling.
Andrew wasn't here for elimination chamber, but he did get his picks in. Yes, I did.
You're still a paper view behind, but I'm be there. Everybody got a point for Mojo
versus Kurt Hawkins. Although you picked it. Yeah. I didn't have that on the run sheet. That was a last
minute edition. So everybody got the point for that. Okay. So L.A. and Steven went three and five.
Chad me and Doc went four and four. You and Don went five and three. Yes. I don't
elimination chamber. So congratulations on that. Point updates. You went five and three,
but you only got five points because you missed the rumble. Yeah. So you have a
yours tied with Steven. Oh, they three 13 winning record right now. Who watches a hundred times
one or else like me? I do. L.A. has seven points out of a possible 16. So he's at 438. Doc has eight. So
he's at 500. Chad and I have nine. So we're at five 63 and Don still leading with 12. Well,
about a 16. He's 750 right now. Not bad. So he's doing all right. So since nobody's here,
we're going to go over grading the card now. Chad gave it a D last week. Don said a D plus L.A.
said a C minus Steven failed it going in. I said C minus as well. Andrew, how do you grade that
card now? I have to grade it out of solid D. I can't debate you. Like this was first of all,
I'm calling Vegas shenanigans. Because Bray Wyatt, well again, was the odds on favorite. So
for the second paper view in a row, Vegas has had it right in the main event. Crazy. So something
going on. Somebody knows somebody who knows something. That's right. Because I don't know
otherwise anybody would have put Bray Wyatt on the board. Actually, you know, I looked at that
just the players in that match and I go, why is Bray Wyatt not winning this match? That's the
question I asked myself and I couldn't come up with anything. And it wasn't, I've labeled it.
It's no longer the elimination chamber. It's now the elimination gazebo because I don't know
if you saw it. No. It's more of a square now. What? And they don't enter into the ring through
through the cage. They actually enter from the outside and then there's doors that are closed
around them. It's very strange. Yeah. Like, don't take something that's already great and
if any broke don't fix it. Kind of thing. This card overall was incredibly disappointing.
Yeah. Like, Nikki and the nanny going to a double count out.
Why? I was happy to see Naomi win. I thought that was a great deal for her. Yeah. I was pleasantly
surprised with that. I was really surprised to see American Alpha retain. I don't know what that
does for your booking. What was the point of that match anyway? Really. And then the new soes.
I don't know what's going on with him. We thought we were blessed. Yeah. This thing, this thing
was a mess. And do you have to credit some of that to the two week turn around? But it wasn't
for Smackdown. Well, I go for Smackdown. I guess it was. Wasn't it? Yeah. You know, raw at least
got six weeks off. Yeah. So I don't know. I guess you mean that card's not shaping up real well.
Yeah. Oh, God. It's looking awful. But the one thing we had come actually. I'm going to hold on
to that to we talk about Smackdown. Hold on to that. Darry young out another six months after
his surgery. Oh, wow. So that was a lot worse than they thought it was going to be. But you know what,
if he's going to be healthy, then I guess it's worth it. For him anyway. I don't know about the
let's do some raw notes real quick. Oh, I'm missing stuff. Let's see. Volby,
Russ says is a heavy metal band from Denmark. Really. He also says USA. I guess confirmed.
Nicole Bass next year is a 25th anniversary of the stars. Oh. And they're going to retire
Yuri Letton in Jersey. Great. I'm bored with that big fan of that man. Yeah. And he said, yep. Yep.
Vases. Vegas is going to have an NHL team next year. That's what you call weird. No,
what's weird is that they're going to be the golden knights. Yeah. Odd. Odd. That's UCF. Leave that
wrong. Yeah. Couple of raw notes. I like the whole Cesaro section thing.
But unless you have an entire section doing it, leave the little eight and a half by 11 pieces
of paper signs at home. Yeah. There's one lady in the front row that had it for signing
remember what it was. This point. I was like, that's terrible. Yeah. That just looks lazy. It does.
And somebody needs to work with Luke Gallows on how Tanner works. I don't know if you saw
him raw this week. No. I don't know if it was the lighting or if he just didn't use his Tanner
properly. Because his head was a different shade than the rest of his body was. And he's
bulbs. So you really need to make sure that matches. Right. And then there was a little too much of it.
I'm just saying maybe that's the sign of things to come. And apparently Bo Dallas, I guess he was
helping cross promote the great wall with the look he was throwing down. I thought what was going
on there. I do like the retooling of Neville's theme though. Now that he's healed,
he changes theme around a little bit. Really sounds pretty good. I like it. Yeah.
So you missed what happened then when Jericho and and Owens called out Goldberg. Yes.
Okay. I heard something about it. It wasn't Goldberg. We had the reemergence of Gilbert.
I don't know what 7-11 they found him in. But for one night, Gilbert returned. Wow.
And did he get a big pop? That place wasn't on. That's great.
I was like, is anybody going to remember this bit? Yeah. I mean, it was a risk.
But it paid off. And I don't know if you did hear it, but we did have the Kevin Owens turning on
to Chris Jericho. Really. That is happening. Yes. Good. Good. Because I saw him, I saw Jericho
holding something that said the the list of KO or something. Yeah. Because what happened was he had
not done all these things on it like a piece of art code of customized. And he actually had
somebody do a pain that looked like the creation of Adam from a 16-chappel. It was Jericho and
it's Trunks and Theo reaching his very wheels off. Yeah. And did all these things. Like I didn't
give anything for you. Oh, wait a minute, I did. And it was the list of KO. And he was like,
why is my name on this? And then that's when the turn happened. Oh, okay. Oh, that's good. That's
good TV right there. So there's that. Now, you know, we can have them go on at it for 3-6 months.
And so much for waiting until Russell made you to give the Bailey the belt thing. She is your new
raw winemands champion. Wow. They very good match. That was a very good match. Okay. Good.
I was waiting for a Sasha heel turn that ever came, which is actually a good thing.
There was a good good match. I don't know why you're there. Very much enjoyed that match.
Oh, that's good. You know, I haven't, I haven't recorded it. It's just so hard for me to press play.
I don't know to watch it. I'm the same way because three hours is even fast forwarding through
commercial and replays. It still takes me two hours to get through raw. It's just a long time.
And it just wears me out. Yeah. I just look at that DVR and I'm like, oh, I got to watch this.
I get them. I give WWE props. They're putting on that much like a original airtime per week.
But it's not good. Yeah. If it's not good, that doesn't help you. Exactly. It's kind of like thunder
for WCW. Oh my god. Magnus has been offered a new contract with TNA. Really. Even though
not impact wrestling out there. Yeah. But this week's impact did have the best ratings since
the total nonstop deletion match. Oh, that's good. So, you know, there were 12 people in the
10. Yeah. Yeah.
Leo Rush. It becomes the number one contender for the ROH television title at the 10th
anniversary paper 15th anniversary paper view on March the 10th. I did watch this week's ROH
today. If you haven't watched it, spoiler alert and three two don't say the one. The winner of
your decade of decade of excellence tournament is Christopher Daniels. Oh, good. So he gets the
ROH world title shot at the 15th anniversary paper view that same night. Congrats to Naomi for
winning, but she injure herself during the match. Yeah. So I'm back down this week. Naomi
are Alexa Bliss gave her a week or whatever. I only have one note from SmackDown because SmackDown
was terrible. So have you heard this? We talked about the Randy Orton conundrum. Yes, we did.
So Randy wins the rumble, which was a mediocre paper view at the best. But now he refuses to face
Bray Wyatt because he's low loyal to Bray Wyatt and doesn't want to face him for the title. So
now we're going to have another battle royal this week on SmackDown to establish a new number one
contender. So now a badly booked rumble has really wasted our time. Yes. Why would you book it that way?
No idea. This made no sense to me at all. There had to be multiple injuries to people in
order for I guess Orton to get the win that. I don't know. It just wears me out. You really did waste
four hours of my life. And you know what's bad is you can give up trying to guess what happens.
Find by me. But at least make the product like tolerable and to where I understand what's going on.
Make it so I come on this show when I go, you know what? I'm giving you credit for that.
Yeah. Because I'm not afraid to give a credit where credit's due. Exactly. That's what we want to do.
But if you're giving me the same thing over and over and over again and you're booking on the fly
because you there's you cannot tell me that this was not booked on the fly. I know they like to say they
book a year out. I'm with you on that. You did not book this year out. No you did not.
If they had Orton winning a year out. There's a locker room full of guys going what the crap dude.
Yeah. Like like this is the show. This is really the number one. This is what I came up here for.
And the Chad's favorite paper view the year. And I'm a fan of the rumble as well. But
I don't know what was in his water that many cuss words in my head. That's all I'm saying. Yeah.
It's just a great. It's a great paper view that you could spring more to anything.
Especially to many of the big event. And then you wasted four hours of programming.
Unbelievable.
All right. Let's get into movie talks so I can lower my blood pressure just a little bit.
Box office numbers from our friends at box officemojo.com dropping out of the top 10 this week
saying drops from 10 to 18 this week. But they've made almost they made over a quarter of a billion
dollars on a 75 million dollar budget. They're doing a great film. And very much enjoyed that film.
iTunes exclusive to 47. Also dropping out of the top 10 this week rings drops from 7 to 12
three weeks 25.7 million dollars. This was a $25 million dollar budget. And it's getting
destroyed by people. I know interesting seeing it. Didn't need to revisit that. Well, yeah.
Lion drops from 9 to 11. 4.1 million dollars 13 weeks 36.4 million dollars. I don't have a
budget. But there's no way that movie's not making money. And an excellent film. iTunes exclusive
to 49 by the way on that one. A cure for wellness debuts in 10th place this week. 4.2 million dollars.
That is 10% of its budget. Wow. And they came under a little fire, which I thought was unnecessary
this week. They released a promo for the film that was talked about this quarter of what disease
that get people into wherever this thing takes place. And it was tongue-in-cheek, but they came
into fire because the fake news thing and it was stupid. La La Land drops from 8 to 9 this week
with 4.5 million dollars 11 weeks 133.5 million dollars. This has done over 100 million more than
its budget. I'd say it's done really well. I enjoyed this film. Me too. iTunes exclusive to 48.
If you want to hear what we really thought. A dog's purpose drops from 6 to 8 this week,
5.6 million dollars, 4 weeks, $50.7 million dollars on a $22 million budget.
This was iTunes exclusive to 256. I enjoyed this film. Fun film. I know there was a lot of bad
things that came out around that film or one bad thing, but you want to hear my opinions on that
ask me off air because I'm not someone I want to talk about. I want to say that we have
almost every over half of the movies in the top 10. We have iTunes exclusive for this week's
split drops from 4 to 7. That is iTunes exclusive to 54. 7 another 7 million dollars,
5 weeks, $123.6 million dollars on a $9 million budget. It's a good move. So Shamanamanamanang
don't get it done. Hidden figures drops from 5 to 6 this week, 7.1 million dollars. This is
what is this one? This is iTunes exclusive. Where is it? I'm going to see it. It's in here somewhere.
Because I know we did iTunes exclusive, because I really really really enjoyed this film.
It's in there somewhere. Let's see. $7.1 million dollars, $9 weeks, $143 million dollars on a $25 million
budget. This was the winner of the saga word for best picture. That's right. I love this movie.
I cannot say enough good things about this film. Go see this film. Let's see what else.
Fist fight. Dave use it number five. Our friends at the movie brothers. They actually have a
review up for that. We actually got a link to that on our Facebook page. So that Dave used
with $12 million dollars. I don't have a budget on that. John Wick chapter two drops from the
bronze medal of fourth place this week, $16.5 million dollars, two weeks, $58.7 million dollars.
This is iTunes exclusive, $2.60. I loved this film. Yeah. I liked it a little bit more than
the first one. He's gonna say it. Yeah. The great wall, Dave used in third place. That's the good news.
The bad news. $18.1 million dollars, $159 budget. It's not going to make that money.
iTunes exclusive $262. I enjoyed this film. I thought this was fun. Yeah. Me too.
So yeah. Fifty shades darker holds on to the silver medal. Another $21 million dollars,
two weeks, $89.7 million dollars on a $55 million budget. This thing's getting destroyed too.
Oh, yeah. I don't know how it's making all this money. I don't know. It's just a bunch of
but holding on to the number one spot, the Lego Batman movie. Yeah. 34 point through and you
call me yesterday to go see it and I just couldn't get away because I got it. I had a couple
of movies. I had to watch yesterday. We got one review coming this week for an independent film
that I watched yesterday. So be ready for that. Probably coming Tuesday, Wednesday somewhere in there.
Okay. Cool. So but Lego Batman movie makes $34.2 million dollars, two weeks, $98.8 million
dollars, $80 million dollar budget. God, it's guys aluminum. I'm going to see this film at some
point. I have to. All right. Let's talk to a movie headline, shall we? Something that we're starting
to get is it's almost time. Yeah. We're a month away from the Dallas International Film Festival.
I got it. That could sneak some. I know. And we're so excited. We're waiting. We're just waiting
to get the email. Let's say apply for our press passes. That's all. We're just waiting. Yeah.
Because we're hoping to cover that again this year. If we get to it, it'll be our fourth
year covering the Dallas International Film Festival. This is number 11. So we've got almost half
of them. That's pretty good. Uh, the Dallas International Film Festival this year is going to have
a 50th anniversary screening of Bonnie and Clyde. Oh, that's one of the things they have announced
this week. Oh, that's awesome. And speaking of Bonnie and Clyde, next Sunday at the Oscars,
Warren Bady and Fay Dunnoway will co-present Best Picture to celebrate the 50th anniversary of
Bonnie and Clyde. Awesome. That was announced. The day after the Dallas International Film Festival made
their announcement this hit. So Mary Poppins returns will have Angela Lansberry. That's part of
the cast. So there's that. And now shooting in South Africa. Trimmers 6. There's been five of these
things. Didn't even know there was, I didn't know there was a second one. I read that this,
I'm going to, because it was a couple that would treat the sci-fi. But I'm like, this is the
sixth one. What is going on here? I must have a cult following. Oh, yes. If something, I don't
read the McIntyre was in the original with Kevin Bacon. Wow. Do they had it in my theater
high school? James Cromwell, the great James Cromwell has joined Jurassic World 2. Okay. So Dave
will be happy about that. Sam Worthington in an interview says Avatar 2 will jump ahead eight
years. Well, they're going to have to, because everybody's aged at least 10. Yes. It's been a while.
Still haven't seen the first one all the way through and have no desire. Don't blame you.
Sophie Turner has said the next X men film will go into production this year.
So this one's supposed to take place in the 90s. Okay. As we're getting closer and closer.
What's supposed to be about? Don't know yet. Okay. Have not heard. I think it's going to
have to do with Mr. Sinister. Okay. Because the one at the SX corporation. Yeah, that's right. The
rumor is Pierce Brosnan. Really? Which I'm very on board with because there was, there was,
somebody put a picture on Instagram of Jackman, Ryan Reynolds and Pierce Brosnan all together.
And some of it was like, oh, it's he playing cable. Which I was like, no. No. But then the rumor
came out the next day that he may be the one tapped to play Mr. Sinister. That's awesome. Which I can
see that. Yeah. I'm totally bored with that. Mel Gibson in talk to direct suicide squad, too.
Let me say that again. Suicide squad, too, into direct, in talk to direct. Mel Gibson.
You know what? I'm on board with that. You know why? Because to me, the first one was a disaster.
I'm not going to debate you on that. Yeah. So if you're, if you're going to take that big of a leap
to make it better, we'll support that. That wasn't even close to the garbage can. Yeah. That's
okay. I shouldn't let him. Matt Reeves not going to direct the Batman. Talk, talk stuff
stop there. They're still looking for a director because Ben Affleck doesn't want to direct
which I totally get. Yeah. Because he said he can't do both directing and starring. Totally
on board with that. Right. Uh, I don't know how I feel about this next story. Joe Carnahan's going
to direct with Frank Grillo starring in the American quote unquote reimagining of the raid.
Don't touch this film. Don't even mess with this film. I was hoping that I dreamed that. I heard
something about that earlier this week and I was praying that was a dream. Don't touch this
movie. The raid redemption is such an amazing film that if you, if you're an action film star,
this came from Korea, I believe. Yeah. Go get this movie. Like turn on your podcasting app,
put your headphones on and go get a hold of this film. And the right two was good. Yeah. It wasn't
anywhere near as good as raid redemption. No. But the right two was good. I enjoyed it. But they're
going to, it's not a remake. It's a reimagining. And that makes it worse. See the long, the
long, the long, the long, the long, the long. Next July, you're going to get the purge for.
I haven't seen any of them. So I've seen the first two. The first one was very frustrating. It was.
Right. I had some very big plot hole questions at the end of the first one. Okay.
Were they addressed in the second one? No. Second one is completely different story. Okay.
And also coming next July will be the none of 2018. This is they spin off from the conjuring.
Okay. Never seen it. Yeah. I don't do those kind of films. This has been well documented on
this show. Yeah. We have Nikki Coro is going to direct the live action move on. So now Disney
has tapped two female directors for their live action remakes. So I'm very much on board with this.
Good. And we got some news from casting from the Lion King live action film that Favros doing. Yeah.
Move Fasa. Who else are you going to get? But the guy that played him in the film.
Oh, awesome. So great. James. Oh, choose. This is CNN.
And playing the adult Simba Donald Glover. Really? Yes, sir. Cool.
Donald Glover. He is getting work. And well overdue. I'm a big fan of this guy. He's playing
young Han Solo. Yeah. He's got this gig. Like what did he just choose to not work for a while?
Is that what he had the community thing going for so long? And he's got it.
Land on after that. It's just doing very, very well. Okay. So and for fans of collect the bowls of
the Star Wars. Force Friday returning September 1st. They're going to do that again this year.
Cool. Didn't do it last year. I'm not a and see that's where because people like I post
stuff like my desk at work. And I'm not as much of a collectibles guy as people think. I'm very
selective on the things that I buy. Right. And most of the Funko pops that I own. We're bought
for me by other people. So it's kind of like socky when you listen. You don't pour your own. Like
I would say of the Funko pops I own and I've got like probably I've got over 20 on my desk right now
at work. I've maybe bought four of them. Wow. Just because people know that I'm into pop culture
stuff and they just kind of happen. And I'm okay with it. I'm not going to I'm never going to
deny it. I'm always happy when people want to buy me things and and you do appreciate me. I'm
totally okay with that. It's just kind of this it's turned into this thing where I've actually been
told Rob you cannot stack them any higher. So I'm like okay I've got room to expand out. So there.
And it will happen. Movie new releases in places you see movie new releases this week.
Get out. And I'm not telling Andrew to do anything. That's actually the name of the title of the film.
This is a thriller written and directed by one half of key in peel. Oh, is this the peel part.
This is the peel. This is not. Yeah. My my gold key in Michael key. This is actually let me
get to to the page here. This is not loading a Jordan peel. A young African American man
visits his Caucasian girlfriend's mysterious family estate. This looks creepy. Yeah. And if you want to see
how much Bradley would for his age. Oh, he plays her father. I don't understand. I've seen this and
I'm sort of intrigued. But then the more I watch that go, movies like this creep me out. They creep
me out. It's like 55 different things all at one time. Yeah. I mean, I think it's going to do well.
I've heard very good buzz on it. But yeah, I can't do this. This is going to freak me out. Also this
week collide. Felicity Jones is in this. Nicholas Holt is in this. They've been showing a lot of
trailers for this lately. I don't know what's been going on. And American backpacker gets involved
with a ring of drug smugglers as their driver threw though he winds up on the run from his
employer to cross Cologne high speed auto bond. Anthony Hopkins is in this. Yeah, you got that going
on for you. Yeah. Also this week, a movie called The Girl With All The Gifts. I'm going to pull
this up for you because this looks weird. Yeah. You're going to have a tight. Gemma Arderton is in
this one. A big fan of. Yeah. A scientist and teacher living in a dystopian future and sometimes just
and a teacher just two people living in a dystopian future in bark and a journey of survival
with a special non-young girl named Melody. I've seen the trailer for this and I'm like,
this is the thing. This is it. Yeah. So you got that. Again, this is a slow time of year.
So a lot of movies that we're talking about are stuff that may be not in a theater near you,
but maybe in an art house or independent film. Also this week a movie called
Chulip Fever. This is Alicia Vickender and Dane Dahan and Cara Delivina in this.
An artist falls for a young married woman while he's commissioned to paint her portrait during the
tulip mania of 17th century Amsterdam. And a movie called My Life as a Zucchini.
This was and the reason I'm putting this on the list is this is actually nominated for an Oscar.
Really? Yes. What is it about? It's a foreign film.
Quargette is an intriguing or zucchini is an intriguing nickname for a nine-year-old boy. Although his
unique story is surprisingly universal. After his mother's disappearance, Quargette is be friended
by a police officer named Raymond, who accompanies him to his new foster home filled with other
orphans his age. At first, he struggles to find his place in this strange at times hostile
environment, yet with Raymond's help and his newfound friends, Quargette eventually learns how to
trust and might find true love. So this is Oscar nominated, so that's why it's on the list.
Okay. DVD and blue-right new releases in places you get DVD and blue-right new releases this week.
On Tuesday, got some Oscar nominees this week. Yes, absolutely.
Hacksaw Ridge. Yeah. Holy cow, you need to see this film. It is absolutely amazing.
Manchester by the sea also nominated for Best Picture. This is one of the three I haven't seen yet.
Nocturnal animals. Bad Santa too. And two criteria and collection releases this week.
Mildred Pierce and women on the verge of nervous breakdown. Those are two very, very popular
films on the criteria and collection this week. Let's do some tech corner real quick. You get
the right music for that. Swamp thing, black canary, cheetah and catwoman have all been announced
for injustice too. Really? Who I like this? Dude, I'm telling you the footage I've seen from this
game looks amazing. Really? And they just released a 30 minute YouTube video on it.
Oh, that's awesome. I'm going to have to watch that. Grand theft auto for now backwards compatible
for the Xbox One. Cool. So if you're very good. And Street Fighter 5 DLC this week has really
revealed Colin, KLL, I am in it. Really? Okay. If you're a fan of the world of warcraft,
that currency can now be used in other Blizzard games, which I find to be very interesting.
Very interesting. Yes. And Pokemon Go just released an update this past weekend.
80 new Pokemon have been unleashed for Pokemon Go. So hooray for more people not paying attention
and walking into things. Exactly. But speaking of Pokemon, we're just a couple of weeks away
from friend of the show Steven Zimmerman, who originally was going to be commentating at the
Pokemon regionals in Indiana, Indiana, Illinois, something like that. He no longer will be commentating.
He's actually going to be in the tournament. Oh, that's awesome. So if you see him, tell him
that you're a friend of the show, take pictures with him, put him up on your social media. He's a
great guy. He's a dear friend of the show. He's like my little brother. I'm a big fan. I really
hope that he does well at this tournament. I'm sure he'll be giving us some updates as the tournament
goes on. Yeah. All right. But we burn through this and I guess we're already at the list. Wow.
So let's do it. Do it to it. So I was going to hold on to this list because I wasn't supposed
to do the list this way. But again, Chad's not feeling well and we want to make sure that he gets
he gets better before he comes back in the suit because we don't want him getting us sick. That's very
true. So we've got that going on. Thank you for saying it. Oh, Chad. So I was thinking about this a
couple of weeks ago. And so I was thinking about trueisms. Okay. And I've come up with 10 television
trueisms. These are things that they're absolute. Right. Based on my many, many years of watching TV
because I was an only child. So watch a lot TV. Right. Things that happen when things that have
changed things that are always universal. Right. Number 10. Outside of May and November because
those are sweeps months. There's no season to anymore. I can't tell when shows are coming,
shows are going. Gotham had its winner finale two weeks ago and now they're off till April.
I don't know what's going on. Yeah. The black list is having their winner finale next week.
You know SNL three episodes four weeks off. I can't keep up. Yeah. It's driving me crazy. Let's be
consistent people. Number nine, anybody you can have a show for at least a little while.
That is very true. Which kind of ties into the next one. But there's people that get shows and
I go wait a minute. What? What? Tiska Greenlight? Yeah. Okay. I guess that's a thing.
But that leads in the number eight. There's no learning curve now. There's a very famous interview
that Jason Alexander did. And he said, if Seinfeld debuted now, they never would have made it to
season two. I believe it. He goes back then you had room to breathe. We didn't even get our
feet under us until season three. But it's a very valid point. There's no learning curve,
especially on networks like NBC. CBS. I can't figure their logic out.
And I know this is probably going to upset my wife, but I don't get two real girls.
I don't get it. And they're like on season 140 now. I can't stand to watch it. I tried. I can't
understand it. I watched the first two seasons and I still don't know what I've watched. It's so
poorly written. Yeah. And it's got a good cast to it. But I don't get it. If you got two
pretty girls and some funny and some other funny people, you can go on and on and on and on. And only
one of them's pretty. Yes. The other one I've spent a night. I want to know what the make-up bill is
for those two. I don't know they wear a lot of it. Yeah. Or cat dinning's lipstick bill. But we can't,
we've got, we've got shows like that that lasts 150 years. But we have decent geek shows that
you're not even giving enough of a chance. Yeah. Number seven. No matter how many channels exist,
you can still find times when there's nothing worth watching. Yes, today I'll rewatch golden
girls on that because that was the only time. Yeah. That was the only thing that felt like I felt like
watching. In the 90s Bruce Springsteen did a song called 57 channels and nothing on. It's still true.
Yeah. There's times where I'm like, I'm glad I have stuff on my DVR because I'm scrolling and scrolling,
scrolling and scrolling, scrolling, scrolling, scrolling. Nothing, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, don't
care. Don't care. Are you seeing it? No, no, no, no, no. It doesn't matter. Yeah. I mean, I got like
19 movie channels and still can't find something to watch. Yeah. Because they're showing the same nine
movies I've watched 150 times. Exactly. Like changing movies out more than once a month. Number six,
SNL will live forever. If they've made it through the past 10 to 15 years,
I will tell you this cast they've got right now. And my boss and I were talking about this the other day.
This is the strongest cast they've had in about six, seven years as a whole. You mentioned that
earlier in the week and I still just, I still have no desire to watch that anywhere. This cast is strong.
And I mean, they, I mean granted, you had some pretty strong years, but you all, we've also just lived
through the era of Sudakis, Sandberg, and we pretty much running everything. Yeah. I mean,
I want to say that Kristen Weege, although I think Kate McKinan's breathing down her neck,
but Kristen Weege has the highest ratio of sketches appearing in of any female in the history
of Saturday night. Wow. Which I really think Kate McKinan's breathing down her neck because that's
those two are both amazing. They give them all the awards. Yeah. But people like I love 80
Bryant. I'm a big fan of Vanessa Bayer, Cecil Lee, strong. Keenan Thompson, who's still on that show.
It's amazing to me. You know, Bobby Moynihan, I'm a huge fan of this cast they have right now.
It's strong. They're very, very good. That's good. And it's not like America's not giving them
a ton of material work with. Oh, yeah, every day. Number five, TV can translate to film, but it's
much tougher for film to translate the television. Yes, it is. Training day. I'm talking to you.
Lisa weapon, although I've heard good things, you're not going to draw me yet. You know,
oh God, Lisa weapon is not. Is actually pretty good. I've been watching it. Yeah, it says he likes it. I can't bring
myself to it. It's good. It's really good. The guy that the guy that plays rigs rigs. Yeah,
he really pulls it in. I just demon way and action starts. The last Boy Scout, so I'm saying
about that. Yeah. And you know what the thing is, is he plays Mertal very well. I was, I was really intrigued
by that. And he, he said, he said, he said, he said, he said, no, I'm running on this right now. The only
way I've seen it really worked that way is mash. Yeah. I can't, I mean, Friday the 13th of series,
nightmare and Elm Street, the series. Oh, terrible. You know, it just, film does not translate
television. No, it does. You can translate television to film, which although it's also had
its pit stops in a lost pit falls on it. Number four, if you can go at least 15 episodes,
you can have a revenue stream for the rest of your life. I submit to you firefly. Yes,
especially in sci-fi. You can have a marginally successful sci-fi series. Right. You can live
on conventions for the rest of your natural. Say that that might be the only way you're able to do that.
That that would be the one sure far away to live the rest of your life. But there's so many
different conventions. Now there's a convention for everything. Yeah. So if you can do something that has
a marginal, what does it, modicum, that's sort of a metaphor of success, you can live on
conventions for the rest of your life. Because think about this weekend,
for any of the show Devon Pike is actually in California for the big doctor who convention. That's
just doctor who. Nothing else, but doctor who. Convention can be that specific now. And that's
going to bring in tens of dollars. There's a ton of people there, dude. Yeah. A ton. Yes. You think
about there that there's a traveling walking deadcon that goes all over the country every year,
walker stalker com. Yeah. Amazing. If you are some just have a little bit of success. Right.
You can live on it forever. Number three, if something works, make a million just like it.
Yes. Remember when the ex files came out? Yes. How many conspiracy shows hit television and the
next six months? At least 15. And it all goes in cycles. Like right now, the sitcom is not really
in fashion. But when somebody finds that right formula, there's going to be 100 sitcoms at debut
that next season. Yep. I'll all try to steal that thunder and we'll never get anywhere near that
that close. I mean, right now we're fortunate to live in the age of the geek show. Yes. And I don't
think we've reached critical mass jet. And I've said it before on this show. And I'll say it again.
Right now, one of my guilty pleasures is Riverdale. You know, I haven't watched that. It looks
really good. Really. And this past week, we added a cast member. I learned two things this past week.
On this past week's Riverdale. Number one, we had a skit old rich signing. Wow. So he's still with us.
Wow. And I learned the phrase booty tutor. Oh, can you explain that on errors? I can. One of the
storylines in the show is that Archie has been having a bit of a little with Mrs. Grundy,
which if you know from the comics, she's like 140. So that's a little creepy. Right. But she's not
on the show. Right. But she's the music teacher at the school. So I want to say, busy, they're
Betty of Rona. I think it was Betty referred to her as his booty tutor. But it's, you know, people
like, oh, it's the Archie gang. Yeah. But my wife watched the first episode before I did. And she's
like, it's real. And I said, C. W. And she was that's exactly what I'm looking for. Yes. But it's got
kind of a neat twin peaks twist to it. Really. That I'm just, I'm glued to this show. And I didn't
want to like it. I'm like, all right, I'll leave you are the first episode. Just so I can see how bad this is.
Yes. And I got to the end of it. I was like, when's the next, when's the next episode? Because
I really need those going on here. Yeah. It's really well done. And I have reached the age where Luke
Perry is playing the father of a high school. So that is amazing to me too. Wow. He plays Archie's dad.
Really? Huh? Wow. And the casting's real good. So Riverdale's a comic. I didn't know that.
It's the Archie comics. They live in Riverdale. Oh. That's the same to the city they live in. Oh, okay.
So I'm just, I just, I just see the end of it after flash or arrow or whatever one.
Whether they preview it. Because it comes on Thursdays now. Okay. Yeah. Yeah. Whichever one it was.
Yeah. But yeah. I really like the show. But we're in that age of this, we're in the age of
we're taking every possible comic property because CW is adding another hero show because they're
doing black lightning. Really? Is that one they moved the time mask show? I think they moved
legends because of Riverdale. Okay. Because I still think you're trying to keep the 100 on Thursday.
No vampire diaries. Follows it on Thursdays. Yeah. So it makes sense.
You got that going for you. Which is nice. Yeah. Number two at any point of any day
some version of lawn orders on. Yes. And I am okay with that. You can pick a point in time and you
can scroll through your channels and somewhere there will be some form of lawn order because they
just had SVU just had with their 400 episode. I think so a couple of weeks ago. Yeah.
And is this their last season? No. No. That shows just getting worse. And I can't stop watching
because I've been with it for so long. But at this point it's like okay this is what's gonna happen
and then it happens and you're like well they're running out of storylines. Yeah.
There's there's no intrigue to it anymore. Like how many at that point it's like how many
different special victims are there. Well and how many ways can we torture Benson? Like that's
what that show turned into. Right. Exactly. What you said. Somewhere in Merchka,
Harga taste got to be going, come on man. I know I'm an executive producer but come on. Yeah.
And number one and this is this number one is what sparked this entire list. Okay.
In the last 15 years, about 90% of the shows on television can be linked to the wire.
I cannot deny this. Every show you watch like that person was on the wire. That person was
on the wire. I remember that from the wire. Like everybody from the wire is working.
So is this like a new Kevin Bacon game player? I think it might have to be like like three
degrees of the wire. I mean I watch shows and I'm like oh that was that dude from the wire.
I mean granted the wire one of the ten best shows in the history of television. Yeah.
You know I'm trying to get Kevin to get caught up because he's I think he's just now finishing
up season two. Oh wow. I don't mind dude. You've got three seasons to go in this show.
It is one of the greatest shows in the history of television.
By a country mile. Yeah. I can watch that in the West Wing on a loop. Just get it done.
I have not seen an episode of the West Wing. Dude. In this particular political climate,
start watching the West Wing. I'm afraid to. I'm afraid to. I'm afraid I won't be able to sleep.
Like I'm afraid I'm just going to sleep. No, but it's good. No, but it's good.
Oh my god, because you're watching. Yeah, because I've been watching you in fear.
That's why that is an absolute genuine fear. Um because that show the West Wing is just that good.
It's it's well written. It's Aaron Sorkin who I'm a huge fan of. Right.
And it was funny because my wife was watching a few good men a couple of weeks ago.
Yeah. And she's like I really do like this movie. I go yeah. Well Aaron Sorkin. She goes,
what? Like you didn't know that Aaron Sorkin wrote this? Wow. Yeah. He wrote the original
stage play and he adapted it for the screen. And she's like, really? I'm like,
just that's why I like this movie. Yeah. Yeah. The man can write. But that's the list.
So Chad will have to flip a coin and figure out which one he wants. Well actually in three weeks
because next week we'll be our Oscar show. We're going to be on our early. So be ready for that.
We're going to your Oscar predictions. And then the week after that is fascinating.
That's okay. Way to go. So we won't be back to abnormal
for three weeks from tonight. So this is kind of a weird time here for us. I think we've only done
two normal shows. So yeah. This is very odd. Yeah. So, but that's because there's a lot going on.
And we want to make sure we cover it all for you. Yeah. That being said,
it's time for us to wrap this thing up. I've got tomorrow off. So happy to have it in state.
