I have to admit, I am one of those lunatics sometimes.

Defensive driving is a beautiful thing.
Whatever we do one of these episodes, it is normally to review something and this one is no exception.
Today we are here to review the latest in the franchise of films about the transporter.
It is the transporter refueled fourth film in the franchise and there's also been a two season television show 24 episodes.
This time around Ed screen, rapper actor, swimming instructor.
This is all true.
You can look it up.
Playing the role of Frank Martin.
He is the third actor to play the role originated by Jason Statham.
Second on screen.
Wasn't he also into swimming?
Statham?
Yeah.
Statham was a soccer player.
No, I think he was like in high diving or something like that.
I didn't surprise me.
I'll look into that.
I know if any Jones was a football player.
That's what I thought.
I was always getting there to career to confuse.
I'll look into that before I show fair enough.
Fair enough.
Basically, this go round.
We meet up with Frank in Europe, of course.
As he has been again tasked to transport a package for a young lady by the name of Anna, played by Lone Shabbonol.
Diver.
Yeah.
Basically, long story short.
She and some of her cohorts are trying to escape being in the sex trade with a Russian gangster.
Played.
I just lost it.
By a red-evolved bouquovic.
This is guy who's playing the heavy.
He's a taken.
He's in a lot of things.
He's that Russian guy.
He's that Russian guy that was in that movie where he probably got beat up or killed.
Okay.
Before we get in.
First up.
It was a French river.
The beginning.
Yeah.
The beginning was the French river.
But it takes place in different locations.
Yeah.
But it'd be on that.
We got to think of best friends.
All right.

And it's honest to God IMAX theater.
Which was a lot of fun.

Well, there's really only one actor who we really know the name of.
And that's a race Stevenson.

Because added to this, you get to know a little bit more about Frank's past.
Including you get to meet his dad.
Exactly.
Played by the great race Stevenson.
Who you might remember as a character by the name of Volstag.
From the Thor films.
He doesn't look anything like he looks in those movies.
So, Don.
This film directed by Camilla that I'm all right.
That is a man, by the way.
I can pronounce.
Basically the only thing he's directed that you would know is the Paul Walker brick mansions.
Okay.
He edited Transporter 3.
I'm going to train to that.
I'm not sure.
Exactly.
But he didn't direct it.
Okay.
Anyway.
Camilla Delamari.
What do you think of the way that the look of the film in his visual style?
Well, I think this was mostly based in France if you could tell.
But true.
I think they utilized the Riviera and all that area very well in the film.
I agree with you there.
It had a good look in there.
It made you want to go visit that area.
You know, some of that great, great sea.
Yeah.
All of that beautiful architecture.
Exactly.
The whole movie I was going.
My country has no history in it.
Exactly.
Like outside of like Boston.
That's all we've got.
You're looking at these things that are centuries old.
I've actually been there.
I've been up and down the coast.
Beautiful.
Yeah.
And he shoots it very very well.
Yeah.
Especially when you realize this film had a 22 million dollar budget.
What he did with 22 million dollars wasn't impressive.
Well, I got him in on some of these like the.
Frank deals with.
Let's say basically four ladies.
A group.
A lot of these, which I put my written view at the club.

A lot of these are basically newcomers to the big screen.
And there's a whole lot of hello nurse going on here too.
Yeah.
You know, I can't pronounce their names with a hack.
You have a long shove in the whole playing Anna.
I can't say that.
You have Gabriella Wright playing Gina.
You have Tatiana Potchivic playing Maria.
And when shall you playing Chao?
Yeah.
That's why possibly the budget was a little lower because she got some of these startup people.
You know, so they're not going to demand.
Most of it went to crash services.
Yeah.
I think a lot of it would do the visuals.
I mean, yeah.
It really for a 22 million dollar film.
This was shot very very well.
But again, technology's coming so fast and is getting so much cheaper.
That you can shoot a high quality film for less money.
I think probably two or three million of it was spent on a couple of the helicopter shots.
Yeah.
That's a good shot.
But one thing I did put in my written review at the clubhouse.

I put on there.
One thing that impressed me was when some of these cars get totaled spoil.
Well, it's a transport.
I don't think that's a spoil.
There's going to be cars.
But they didn't very realistically.
Because when these things crash, you see like the fenders fall off.
You see the hood fly there, the glass crash.
And if we know go everywhere versus these, you know, big budget films or car crashes.
Like on one piece.
Right.
When these hit, I was really impressed.
And if we know anything about transport or films, there is a very liberal sense of suspension
of disbelief.
Some of the things that he can do in these films.
You do find yourself going really like spoil or alert transporter too.
He finds out that he's got a GPS attached to the bottom of his car.
So how he gets it off there.
He drives into a, into a construction site.
He hits the ramp so it rotates the car towards a hook that's on a crane that he aims
so that the hook hits the GPS and pulls it off the bottom of the car.
There is a high sense of suspension of disbelief in these things.
And this one is no exception to that.
I like the reality of the car crash.
But some of the things that he's able to do with the car.
Let's just say there's a chase scene fire on the ground.
The fire hydrants.
There's also one that's on the grounds of an airport.
It gets a little awkward.
A little out there.
But I mean, you're not expecting Shakespeare.
You're not going to get Shakespeare.
I just, it's, it's an action film.
Let's just be honest.
You know, it's, it's, you know, murka, but not in murka.
You know what I mean?
Some of the frauds.
Which moves us into the storyline.
I'm going to hold my personal views on the storyline here for a minute.
Because I'm going to let you go.
Okay.
I'm going to let you finish.
I'm sorry.
Okay.
Stop it right now.
I will say realistically.
The story was okay.
I didn't think it really draped for me.
But for some reason, the last 15 or 20 minutes.
Just for some reason did not work for me.
Okay.
The climax, if you will, the big battle at the end.
Okay.
This is just getting too, for some reason.
I just lost interest.
And I can't explain why.
I can't explain.
I'm left without words for once in my life.
I don't know.
Like this date down.
Mark it on the calendar.
Here's my thing.
I cannot say that I did not enjoy this film.
I can't do it.
Because I had fun.
It's an hour 36.
Let me do.
I had fun.
The longest of the series is transport of three and an hour 44.
But it didn't have to be a transporter movie.
Like you could have named this any.
And we've had that happen recently.
Or you could have named this anything else.
And it would have been fine.
But Luke based on who has written all of the films.
Had to, I guess if he didn't put the name on this,
people would have like, oh, what are you trying to do?
Rip off your transporter movies?
Okay.
We'll make it a transporter movie.
Like they could have called this literally.
Could have called this boats and hose.
The prestige worldwide movie.
And it would have, it would have fit.
Especially when you see this film.
You'll know what I'm talking about.
It would have fit.
But there's an airplane.
Don't forget about that.
Yes.
But I'm just saying.
But the song's not called boats and hose and airplane.
Exactly.
By the way, Chad, for you, that's a stepfather's reference.
Okay.
Chad doesn't like Will Ferrell.
Okay.
But you could have called this anything else.
And it would have been fine.
Let's see.
We're going to agree to disagree on that.
You know, I enjoyed that film and it didn't bother me.
I'm just saying you could have called it anything else.
Right.
Didn't you set the same thing in the review on that one?
But.

I think it's a film.
It's all the way around the room.

I just don't know that this had to be a transporter movie.
That's my thing.
Because my problem as it lies with this film.
Now, and let me, let me give you full disclosure as I give you in my written review,

The thing about the character of Frank Martin in the first three films is you don't know a lot about him.
You just know that he's a dude that can drive a car really well and he can kick butt and take me.
He has a nice car and nice hat.
Right.
And he has rules.
Yes.
He has rules.
Now, in this particular film, we get the rules all out of order.
You spend three movies establishing the order of the rules and then you change the order of the rules.
It's very strange.
But like giving the whole like background of him and how he connects to the villain and then you have to deal with the dynamic of him and his dad,
who's retiring from the spy business.
I didn't need that.
That's not what the transporter is.
And that's where my problem I'd with it.
Like, I don't need you to tell me a story.
I want to watch a dude drive a car really awesomely and kill people.
That's it.
Well, one thing I want to add.

We may have a record for that.
One thing I did put on there, it just did not seem right without state them.
It felt to me.
Even though, you know, this new guy coming in trying to fill the role and stuff like that,
it was kind of like trying to do Indiana Jones without Harrison Ford,
which is probably going to happen.
Unfortunately.
Well, but given who's who maybe doing and I'm okay with it.
But here's my thing.
There's only one franchise this works for.
If they had state them in it though, then you could really close my thing.
There's only one franchise that this particular change works for.
Chad, what are you talking about?
Were you changed the lead character and keep the character the same?
Like lead actor and keep the character the same?
Only one franchise can bowl that off.
Talk about another British guy?
You're exactly right.
James Bond.
Yeah.
It's the only way it works.
Because it's worked for 50 years.
Around TV.
Doctor Who.
They've got it.
Well, that's a built-in out though.
Yeah.
This is the same character.
In this case, and not taking anything away from Ed screen, I thought he was great.
Yeah.
So I don't know.
But I agree with you.
He's not statham.
And there's a certain genus quah.
Tiding it back into France.
See what I did there?
I have to surprise very well.
That statham carries with him in this character.
And I don't know if we ended up getting to my full disclosure.
But four days before we watched this movie, I watched all three transporters because
I hadn't seen any of them.
I couldn't get through the TV series because I didn't have enough time.
But there's something that statham brings to that character.
A rugged smoothness.
The slagger that he kind of carries.
And that's exactly the screen.
That screen has to agree.
But not as good.
But he's kind of scrawny in comparison.
Like the thing about statham's portrayal of Frank Martin is he walks into a room.
And you know one of two things is going to happen.
You're going to get seduced.
We're going to get your butt kicked.
That's the list.
I don't want to piss this guy off.
Exactly.
And skiing carried that to a certain level.
And they try to press it in my point being that first scene when he comes out with that
Little bag.
That's what they're trying to do.
But that's that's traditional within the franchise.
I think I think he put that scene in there right the beginning to try to show
that he could still do that position.
No sir.
That is the tradition of the franchise.
The first time you meet Frank in every movie.
He's taking on somebody who's trying to take the car.
That's a tradition of the series.
Well, man.
Excuse me.
You say how you don't spill.
They could have called us any other thing.
You know, is this part of franchise.
If this exact film had statham.
Would you feel that this bit within a transporter franchise?
If it had statham.
Would you be thinking different or whether you could call this a story?
No.
I would be thinking of it differently because it's statham.
Yeah.
Would you think with this particular actor you could have made it anything else?
Yeah.
If that statham, would you agree that this would probably be a transporter film?
Yeah.
Yeah.
I just say the statham is the mything mything mything.
This is the statham is the mything.
The statham is the mything.
It's just like part of it.
Give me one second.
I almost give me my Greek cred.
And you also don't have, I was it.
Fans who are very long.
Who was in all three films as he's one of the he works for the French.
Like he should call it the CIA France where he's kind of the he's he's of state he's
Frank's buddy.
But he's kind of investigating him at the same time because he can never catch him doing anything.
Uh huh.
We're in transporter three.
They were much more buddies than at than pseudo adversaries kind of like Felix lighter and kind of sort of.
But he's he's the one.
But Felix was James is friend.
Like he knew what James was.
I mean, I'm saying he's as close as a Felix character.
Tony thinks that that Frank's up to something but he can't prove it.
He's not even in this.
And so it's that's why I'm saying this could have been anything else and it would have been fine.
You didn't have to put the transporter name on it.
Let's say I had statham.
If they had statham then it would have made more sense to me exactly.
And you also have to realize that every one of these films has been a gamble.
The transporter of the original did horribly theatrically.
But it did so well on home video.
That's what greenlit the second one.
I thought the first one was good.
The second one was serviceable.
The third one's terrible.
The third one is absolutely terrible.
This is better than the third one.
I'll give on that.
It was fun.
But I just it's a weird conundrum for me because I'm like.
Did this have to be a transporter movie?
Again, no fault with any of the performances.
I thought everybody did a great job for what it was.
You know, I'm not going to see any of these people do hamlet.
And the London stage anytime soon.
But that's not what you expect out of a film.
Maybe green eggs and hamlet, but not hamlet.
Hey, I'm on board with that.
Wants to thou eat them with a fox?
I was just kidding.
You need to excuse to get that joke in a bit.
I'm fine with it.
I will not eat green eggs and ham.
I will not eat them salmon.
Speaking of acting.
Thank you goal points.
Speaking of France, I had French fries for lunch.
I don't think I did today.
I actually had tater tots.
I can't say the number.
I think we've exhausted everything.
And I think we're about right now.
Yeah.
The way we do the final analysis on this show.
We don't give you thumbs up thumbs down.
We don't give you stars, letter grades, rankings from one to ten.
None of that.
Our audience whom we affectionately refer to as the empire is better than that.
Yes, they are.
So basically it's well down to two questions.
Question number one is would you see this film again?
If the answer is no, then we're done here.
If the answer is yes, then it becomes how far would you be willing to go to to see it?
Would you see it full price first run?
Would you go to a twilight show?
Would you go to a matinee?
Would you go early morning on a Saturday or Sunday?
Would you see it in second run for the dollar theater?
Would you venture out to red box?
Would you stream it on Netflix?
Would you watch it on cable?
Dawn, would you see this film again?
Yeah, what?
How far are you willing to go?
Well, let me kind of go into this one here.
Sure.
I would do something on the ilk of something like HBO.
Because there was some hot girls in there, which their names I cannot pronounce.
Because I don't want to hack them.
You know, but I would recommend it as a matinee though.
Because I only use a couple bucks if you hate it.
Because I still thought it'd be fun.
There's some hot girls in there, which names I can run them.
I pronounced again.
And also I got that for it to cure.
Yeah, but there, you know, it was still a fun time.
But a matinee.
Take that.
You can Sunday afternoon.
Go ahead.
I would see this film again.
If I had nothing else going on.
Like I wouldn't pay for it.
It's fun.
Yeah.
You know, if I was looking to do a night of just some shoot them up action flicks and had a bunch of people over.
If it was on, I'd throw it up there.
What?
I wouldn't avoid it.
But if it was there, like I wouldn't go out of my way.
But if I could avoid it, I'd be like, it's fine.
So you wouldn't go to Netflix, basically.
I might stream it off in Netflix.
I mean, you wouldn't go to red boxes, what I'm saying.
No, I guess that I wouldn't go out of my way.
I mean, it's a fun movie.
Yeah.
If you're into action films and you really just want to just leave your brain at the door for an hour 45 and just have a good time.
Doesn't that quite go see it?
You know, because there are some car chases.
But I like the realisticness of those cars crashing.
I did like seeing it in the eye max.
Oh, yeah, that was good too.
We were like, you're thinking that we got to think everybody are best friends.
Um, L.I. didn't grade marketing actually for an bonus to see this in eye max.
Our best friends in the whole world.
We love them so much.
Sure.
Good.

You don't have to watch the first three.
That's good.
But, but I mean, I would recommend it.
I've seen the first kind of get you kind of in the right mind frame of it.
I wouldn't mind checking out the TV show just to see how it parallels.
