My name is Rob by the executive producer of the clubhouse podcast and not as young as it used
to be.
So I'm sad about that.
Apparently they have a very special guest joining us, Jasper Bartholomew Irvin has this idea
he wanted to stop by.
But I'm not alone for this particular episode joining me across the test because he tends
to do is a man who knows a couple of things about a couple of things and he always likes
to share them.
He is Chad.
Welcome, sir.

Well that was a little too.
The one you're thinking of is a little too obvious.
Also joining us for this particular episode is the official fact checker of this show and
a man who will shake a tail feather when he needs to.
You may know I'm as fun, don't go, but as a mom and a name I'm done for it, I'm going
to call him Don Ford, welcome sir.
Shake a feather, shake a shaker, shake a feather.
That's what you have.

that is Don Ford, ladies and gentlemen.
Whenever we do one of these, it is to review something and this is no exception.
Today we are here to review the latest film from writer, director Leslie Headland, who
you would probably know from the remake of About Last Night, also the movie called Bachelorette
that came out a couple of years ago.
The movie is called Sleeping With Other People, Jason Sudakis, Allison Bree, Adam
Brody.
There's a Jason Mendes Zukas, who you might know is Raffy from the League, Amanda Peats,
Adam Scott, Natasha Leone, the list goes on and on and on.
Let me give you the nickel tour of this thing.
Before we begin, what we have to think are good friends at Allied Integrated Marketing
for vignos to this thing.
Absolutely, it's our best friend to do it.

There's so good to us, we love them.
Okay, so the movie starts out in 2003 as a Jake played by the great Jason Sudakis, who
you might remember from Saturday Night Live and horrible bosses.
Is hanging out in this dorm and he sees this girl in the hallway, Laney played by Allison
Bree, who you know from community, has, and if you listen to this show, what all you know
that I have a very unhealthy crush on Allison Bree, she is trying to get into another
dorm room and can't do so and Jake kind of saves her from getting into a little bit
trouble with the resident advisor.
They start hanging out and one thing leads to another and they end up losing their
virginity to each other.
Fast forward 12 years into the present day where Jake is a nice guy, but he's also
a bit of a womanizer and in order to keep his relationship afloat, he promises to go
into a sex addicts anonymous type meeting and there he runs back into Laney, who has
been suggested to go there herself by her therapist.
What ends up happening is they become friends and they try to keep the romantic side
away from it because they realize they keep screwing things up when the romantic side
of it comes into play.
That was for Chad, your welcome internet and how their lives evolved from there.
I felt pretty much covered with that.
I think so.
Alright.
Alright.
Chad, let's start with you.
Script wise.
I can't get past this jam right now.
Thank you for this.
It's one of the great songs, sir.
She'll leave for the kids.
It was entertaining and enlightened.
It runs about an hour, 40.
Reminded me very heavily of another story in a similar vein that I'm very fond of from
your leader that I think you kind of disagreed with me on.
Referring to Zack and Mary.
It was very, I mean, I'm not saying it's a carbon copy of it, but it was there were
elements of this story that were very reminiscent of that film.
It just reminded me of a similar situation.
So that alone kind of drew me because I'm really fond of Zack and Mary.
They always, these two play to their strengths very well.
Oh, absolutely.
Sudakas has a way of playing the role of a kind of a heart-throbbing guy when he's not really a heart-throbbing guy.
He's, he's in that really weird in between stage of those.
He doesn't really fit the bill.
He's a kind of a lighter, already j quality too.
Yes.
Yes.
He's a handsome dude.
He's kind of goofy.
He's what not what you would call a men's men by any stretch.
But it does.
But he's leading men.
It's here.
Yeah.
He doesn't sound outside of the realm of possibility that he would be a womanizer kind
of a guy because he's got that look.
I could have put that on in your gym.
Done?
Yeah.
We talked in just the acting or the storyline.
Sorry, line my mind.
I really, overall enjoyed it.
I had one turn off.
I thought about the last 20 minutes of this movie, Dragged.
Okay.

I put on there.
There's one point in the film where I thought that's where they should have really ended
it.
And most you probably know what I'm talking about.
Oh, absolutely.
Okay.
For me, that was about the last 10 minutes.
Yeah.
But if they went in there, we'd been a lot better, I thought.
Because I've been a good way to end it.
But then after that, it just kind of kept dragging at that point.
That's going to start to drag for me.
Okay.
Overall the beginning, I did love the comedy with this was incredible on this.
I don't get me going.
And it's a new twist to the romance films.
You know, like I also put on the written reviews.
There's movies like Singles.
There's movies in a slum.
There's so many different arrays.
This is a new twist to a whole thing where, you know, this is really diving into relationships
in his sexuality needed.
For me, this was more when Harry met Sally for a different generation.
And I think people of our generation identify with that movie of being the movie that talks
about can men and women be friends.
Where this film, to me, goes more into that vein.
Can a man and a woman be friends?
Be platonic and keep the other thing at bay.
And I thought that it did a really good job.
It was very entertaining.
You barely get a chance to breathe before the next joke hits you.
And it's a, let's just put it out there.
There's, there is a lot of crunchy humor in this film.
Yeah.
If you are not a fan of toilet humor.
Stay, I mean, I don't mean that literally.
Yeah.
But I mean, the shunt.
Yeah.
If you're not a fan of that kind of humor, stay away because you're just, you're going to be
uncomfortable for a 101 minutes of your life.
But if you can tolerate that kind of a thing and you can find the humor in it, it's
got a really good core to itself.
There's a good heart to this story.
And the sexual content is pretty much implied in the title of the film.
Well, and you pretty much, and not only that.

A lot about how headwind has so much faith in the material.
She's written.
There's no nudity in this film.
Yeah.
Yeah.
That is, there's no nudity in this film.
There's a shaky scene.
There is.
Yeah.
There are some, some.
Well, there was a no vaccine, but nothing really major.
There's no nudity in this film.
No nudity in this film.
I don't even think there's any, there's a shot to this film.
The African American girl when he was.
Yeah, but I don't think there was any took-as in there.
I don't know what they're doing.
But we got it.
But still, do have such faith in your material and a movie that's about sexual topics.
And do it without nudity is a bold choice, but it works here.
Mm-hmm.
The script is strong enough that you can leave that part out of it.
You can animate certain things.
And there's a couple of scenes where certain things are being taught to other people
that could be construed therein, which to me was the turning point of the film, I think.
And it, but it's done in such a way that it doesn't make you uncomfortable.
It's fun.
It's funny.
It's painful.
It is.
Well, it prevents us into the, the performances.
Because we, we right away to talk about the visual style here.
It is what it is.
Yeah.
Yeah.
You know, it's something special to me.
It's New York.
You're good to go.
But the chemistry for me between Sudakis and Allison Brie was through the route.
It was palpable.
I mean, you could feel it.
Yeah.
Like, it's, you, but you told me about it, too.
There's such a comfort level between the two of them.
And what I love about these two is I haven't seen a movie where they can't give that level.
Or something they've done that doesn't have that level of comfort.
And is this, and this is the first time they've worked together.
I know, which, that's impressive.
Because they, they, they, but they're both just that good and they just gel together.
You would, you would have thought that that she worked on his show or he worked on her show at some point.
And I guess they didn't.
But no, so I think today, because there's everyone on community and she's never hosted us.
I know.
They, I'd rather see them together than just about anybody else in that current crop.
They were, their chemistry was amazing to me.
The one, my standout though, besides the two leading roles, I agree.
Their chemistry was very, very good.
Jason, that's a, that's a,
Robbie from the league, baby.
Yeah, Xavier.
He, he was funny.
He made the, the best friend part and played it so well.
He wasn't in there too much.
But he's in there a little bit in for a minor role as his best friend.
He hit it all the part.
He just added to sedakus on that thing.
As the, you know, the,
Yen and Yang, he could say on that thing.
He's my shining star, this thing, out the non leading roles.
Be unbelievable.
The other movie that we saw him in recently that we couldn't think of right for the screening was adult beginners.
Oh, see, I didn't see that one.
Oh, yeah, he, his line.
You may think that's toe to what's broken.
But it's not like, I'm a big fan of this guy in general just because his performance on the league is just.
He's so out there that it's hilarious and he does very well on this.
I agree with you as well.
Playing Xander.
I, I didn't call him as much as his best friend is more like his close buddy who's happened to be his business partner.
Yeah, but they had, but they had, they had great chemistry.
Like you could see that like they've known each other for years.
And they had that beginning when they're signing the contracts.
Yes.
It's just, I really thought he was going to mess this up.
I know, I was really good.
That's what I say.
He had to be his best friend at the time.
It was his best friend at the time.
I get say I will say the only chemistry that got that wasn't, it was strong, but not as strong as everybody else.
With Sudakas in Amanda.
I was, yeah, I was just going to say that.
There was something about that that didn't fit, and maybe that was done on purpose.
I think it was, but, hello, Amanda.
Amanda Pete was a great, of course.
She's always great.
You know, everybody played well.
I mean, and I'm going to tell you something.
Adam Scott turned up his creepy in this.
Oh yeah.
He plays that role very well.
And he plays some evil roles, but he can play the good guy too.
He plays the object of affection for Allison Brie, who is the guy she was trying to see in the beginning of a film.
Like, he played a chicken secret-white life of Walter Midi and stuff, but then he plays
a sweetheart in Parks and Rec.
You know, it's, it's the mustache.
Because he had a beard, a full beard and mustache in Walter Midi, didn't he?
But he sure he did.
I think it's the facial hair.
That's, it's like his, through a mirror darkly thing.
He was great.
Look, Natasha Leone, who you know from Orange is the new black in the American
High Film.
She was really good in this.
Boy, her voice is getting rougher.
And she sounds like this generation's Dipper Winger.
Andrea Savage, who plays Xander's wife Naomi.
She was funny.
She didn't get to do much, but she was a stepbrothers dinner for schmucks.
I love you, Beth Cooper.
She, she, she and Jason, not Zookas, had really good.
Yeah.
Like, you believe they were married.
Yeah.
You could definitely buy the tape.
You could probably buy a party scene alone.
Is anyone going to listen to modern love the same way again?
We so should do drugs.
And that's where.
That's, that actually that scene is referencing the trailer.
He says, do you want to take some Molly with me and go to birthday party?
That whole time that she's doing her routine.
All I could see was our dear friend Charlotte.
Yes.
That's all I guess.
Yeah.
That was our buddy Charlotte.
The Justin Timberlake of this show.
I could so see for doing that.
I mean, I kind of had the bar set pretty high for this.
Because I watched the trailer that day.
And I wasn't disappointed.
I didn't know what to expect, but it was better than I thought it was going to be.
I really, really enjoyed this movie.
I mean, there's, there's really not much bad.
I can say about it.
Me, I, I only think that I have.

If they take the last 10 minutes off of it.
See, I prefer the ending.
And that's what really brought it down.
I can't give this thing an A.
And that's what we do.
We do that a great on this show.
I wanted to say it.
But as a, you know, a wonderful 100% best film.
I just can't give it a wonderful film.
But I might see what happens.
But I just, yeah, I mean, it didn't take away from my enjoyment of the film.
But I think it would have been more impactful if they left it to the last 10 minutes off.
Yeah.
That's what kind of.
Yeah.
Yeah.
But you'll know what we're talking about when you see the film.
Anything else we want to add before we get to the final analysis here?
Not the fact that it took the, the, the lesson seen before it really got going for me.
To me.
Oh, yeah.
It kind of left along to get that you feel off for me.
It didn't.
I just, I was in from the first friend.
See, you, you thought it at a strong beginning in a week ending.
I think it's the other way around.
But that was a week.
Yeah, was some stuff you cannot expect from this.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I can say is that.
Which chat refers to as the scene.
The least interesting.
Okay.
Yeah.
That's why I call the green team bottle.
But we'll leave it at that.
But it's, you know, let's just go ahead and get to the final analysis then.

There's probably a better version of this I could have played now that I think about it.

Because of that 20 minute thing, I'm going to give it a red box.

But it would be fun to watch in a theater again.

Yeah, and this could be a guide movie too.
But it's just, it's one of those movies that's best watched in a larger group of people.
That's what I'm thinking.
One of those movies where I've seen it, so I want to watch other people react to certain elements of the film during the film.
