The Clubhouse – Episode 6
Read Transcript
No problem, it's easier or deeper production.
George, George, George, George.
Good morning!
Joe, stop.
Are y'all ready for the jam?
I said, are y'all ready for the jam?
Yo, gee.
Keep it run on for me.
Let's go.
Keep it going, no.
Wait.
Fair.
Hey y'all, I'm bringing heat.
Beast and all hot topics every week.
It is 7-1 of the East Coast.
It is 4-1 of the West Coast.
It is the 30th August in the year of our Lord 2015.
It is season 6 episodes 6 chronologically 300 and 12 times.
I have said the clubhouse is live and on the air.
We welcome you no matter where you are, whether you're live on your stream, whether you're listening
on our archive or whether you subscribe on iTunes.
We're just glad you're here.
Welcome.
My name is Robin.
Ooh, I'm in much better shape than I was last week at this time.
So that's a good thing.
During me across the disc, he tends to do his mic co-hosts.
And a man has been kind of out of a pocket for most last week.
He is chat, welcome sir.
Good to see you back in a little less green around the gills.
Yeah.
Yeah, I feel much better.
So last weekend was a tough weekend.
Had a little bout with a little thing called diverticillitis.
So Lesnar and I now have something in common.
And no, that's not just a disease that makes you wine according to Saturday night live.
Yeah.
So it might make you a little whiny though.
How to do it just some things in my diet.
Try to make sure that this thing doesn't happen again.
But I want to thank everybody for their support.
Because you're not used to doing that yet.
That's true.
It's a very more delicious soul.
All right.
We always start every show with corrections.
Nobody in the studio tonight.
Just us.
Russ is in the chat room.
He says hello to you sir.
He's chaining your name in the chat room.
Have it heard that a while.
No.
I didn't hear anything from last week's show that really stuck out to you to me.
What about you?
No.
Summer slam was a thing.
It was definitely a thing.
It was too long of a thing.
Oh, it really was.
Man, that was a long four hours.
And I thought maybe it was because I was not well.
But apparently that wasn't the problem.
It just dragged.
All right.
We start every show with NASCAR.
We had the Irwin tools night race last night.
So we had no racing today.
Oh, we know that was last week.
What did I miss?
Did I miss something?
Very confused right now.
Oh, because it was last Saturday because of.
We didn't have NASCAR results last week because we had the paper.
Right.
So let me see.
Are we not racing this weekend?
Is there something else going on?
So we're going to.
Let's do that.
He's up in the meantime.
We're going to give you some standing updates.
So we're going to go to in this in 17th place.
The odd man out by only two points right now is Casey Kane.
In 16th is Eric Almerola.
Everybody through 13 stays where they've been from the last couple of weeks.
Clint Boyer in 15 Carl Edward Garl backflub Edwards in 14th.
Jeff Gordon in 13th.
Ryan Hellow Newman and Paul.
Yes.
That's my family that named after the tool store manard.
They switch places.
Everybody from there up to six days where they were.
Jamie McMurray in 10th.
Denny Hamlin in 9th.
Kurt Bush in 8th.
Matt Kenseth in 7th.
Martin Truex Junior drops 2 to 6.
6 times 6 times 6 times 6 times 6 times 6 times 6 times 6 times.
Spring Cup champion Jimmy Johnson up 1 to 5.
Brian Kezelowski up to 4.
And your top three do stay the same.
Dale Earnhardt Junior.
Joey Logano and Joey Logano was 43 points behind Kevin Harvick.
Right now.
So let me see where we are because I've got the schedule up.
So I guess we are not racing this weekend.
Not sure why they took the weekend off.
Maybe kids start in school or something.
Because next week.
We do have next week is the holiday week.
We're going to take the week off.
So everybody can enjoy the holiday.
I've got some stuff going on next weekend that would kind of push me a little bit too
close to the time.
I don't want to have to worry about that.
So get your fill of us now.
We don't want you to have separation anxiety.
But next week is a night race.
Next Sunday.
From Darlington Raceway.
The bow jangle Southern 500.
You got a lot of chicken involved in that race.
Because the fur those of you that don't know bow jangles is a chicken chain.
Much like Popeyes.
Yes.
Kind of the same bit.
I prefer bow jangles though.
Blue jangles good evening.
I've never seen one down here.
Two more races.
Including that race before we get to the chase.
So it's almost time sir.
And Russ does verify no race this weekend.
Okay good.
So I'm not sure.
I don't know if there's a reason behind that or not.
Maybe we can give some stuff filled in on that.
Alright.
Let us move on.
Because we are your one stop shop for all things sports and entertainment.
Let's talk a little TV talk.
Your first three hosts for SNL season 41 have been announced.
Something that the your first host has something in common with something going on tonight.
Which we'll talk about in a little while.
Miley Cyrus will be hosting the season opener.
Follow by Amy Schumer.
Who we will talk about later in the show.
Season 41 host 3 Tracy Morgan.
Wow.
That's going to be major.
That's going to be a huge show.
They haven't announced any musical guests that I'm aware of yet.
So but those are your first three hosts of the season.
For SNL and that the season premiere will be October the third.
That will be right around the time that that mysterious prince album is dropping.
So wonder if maybe maybe not.
Because we're going to talk about that here in a little while as well.
That is the definition of a TV.
Yes sir.
So congratulations to the people over at Fear the Walking Dead.
You're welcome.
Internet.
10.1 million people tuned in for the premiere episode of Fear the Walking Dead last week.
That is the highest premiere on cable in the history of Ember.
That's insane.
But you know you said it in free show.
You put the Walking Dead's name on something and it's going to get viewers.
Yeah.
But I'm curious as to what like the talking did.
And you haven't had a chance to watch this show.
I have not.
Okay.
I know my wife checked it out but she hasn't given me any feedback on it.
I got a little feedback on it.
While we were watching the paper view.
While we were in the room while the paper view is on.
And I was getting feedback from my beloved cousin who is telling me that it was kind of slow going.
This is like when it first kicked off.
So I don't know.
Maybe it's just a lot of setup.
We do have the very first line up of guests.
We talked about the first musical guests for Stephen Colbert's new show.
That premieres a week from Tuesday.
Kendrick Lamar.
I believe he said the first musical guest was his first guests on the show will be George
Clooney and Jim Bush.
Wow.
I believe the first full week's lineups are available right now.
So we're going to have to see how that works out.
I might DVR the first episode just to see what's going on there.
Just to see how well he fits into that role.
They did name his band leader.
I've never heard of the guy.
But apparently he's very, very big in the jazz community.
What's the name?
I don't remember.
I don't remember who he is.
But there's that.
Get ready for another shield spin off.
Adrian Policki, who you know I'm a huge fan of.
True.
Her character is a mockingbird.
I believe his name is her codename.
Getting a spin off called Marvel's most wanted.
That's going to be televised or web-based.
Televised I believe.
Kind of like they did with Agent Carter.
But Agent Carter is going to get season two so they're probably going to get that same
slot they had last year.
Gotta say I'm a real fan of Agent Carter more so the shield I think.
Agent.
Oh, speaking of which.
Have you heard of what she said?
She let fly this past week.
Who?
Haley at will?
Yes.
No.
She won't be the next doctor.
Oh yeah.
We talked about that.
Just making sure.
Super hero news.
Ask.
Galaxy Quest.
The series is going to Amazon.
Oh boy.
They've got a golden globe right now sir.
Yeah, but I remember.
That's where zombie land made its series debut.
Yeah.
And it got killed.
Now we'll see.
We'll see.
There's been no casting or anything.
An ounce for it.
But we'll see.
I'm hoping they get at least a couple of the original cast.
But I'm sure they'll make appearances.
It's not like Tim Allen's real book beyond his life.
Is that last man standing even a thing?
Yeah.
Is it?
Yeah.
I've watched a couple of episodes.
I think we talked about it a couple of episodes.
A little formulaic for me for him.
Yeah.
Although I'm a big fan of Nancy Travis who plays his wife on the show.
So it's no, it's no home improvement.
That is true.
And can we get to tell people it's called home improvement.
Not tool time.
And it's open.
Hey, man.
George.
It's the show within the show.
So first of all, we do want to send our thoughts and prayers out to the families and
friends of the reporters in Virginia this past week.
This is a horrible story.
I won't.
I can't watch the video.
I can't do it.
Mikey showed it to me.
I can't do it.
USA has actually postponed the season finale of Mr. Robot their new show.
Because there's a parallel to what happened.
Really.
I've pushed it back.
So respect to USA for that.
Well, I'm the memorial was today as an artifact for them.
I just, I read about this the other day.
And I can't even fathom.
It's, it's, it's, it's blood cardly.
It's, it's pretty chilly.
I can't do it.
Can't bring myself to it.
I'm sorry.
So, but what our thoughts and prayers go out to the, the families there.
So.
I finally watched Siege on the fall.
I did watch it this week.
I enjoyed it.
I can't say it was earthshattering for you.
But I enjoyed it.
Wow.
I liked the ending of this cool.
Oh, yeah.
We do have a premier date for rebel season two.
It will be Wednesday, October the 14th at 90's turn.
I'll take that as a late birthday present.
I'll be on vacation that week.
So, I don't get, why?
I, I, I know, I think I know why.
Let's, let's put this in a context.
I mean, you're starting it so late.
Because they probably have just enough episodes to get up to the release of episode seven.
But why do the premier episode one season two episode one in June?
I don't see this as a season premiere.
I saw this as kind of a one.
It was a special.
They call this special.
It was just a one hour deal to remind you, hey, this is still a thing.
I don't know.
It just, it almost seems like they don't have enough confidence in their series.
No, which they should because it's fantastic.
It's doing well.
It's got great ratings.
The content itself.
It's, it's, it's the best thing we've seen a Star Wars logo on in a long, long time.
Let's go ahead and talk about this now.
I'm not going to wait till movie talk.
You did hear that the storyline for Rogue One has been released.
Hmm.
And what it deals with.
It's basically how we got the plans for it.
It's the bottom to have died.
Right.
The many, the many.
I like to say one word.
In.
Oh yeah.
Hey.
When I found out I was like, well played Disney.
Yeah.
That's it.
You want to talk about somebody who, a group of people that are apparently doing everything
to write the wrongs that have been done to this world.
What did I say when Star Wars Rebels premier?
What did I say on Twitter?
It's like Disney's looking at Lucas and going, how come we can play with your toy better
than you have in about three decades?
It's, it's staggering to me.
I'm so glad he's nowhere near this anymore.
For fans of homeland, that will be returning on October the 4th.
I've heard that this past season was really, really tough.
Yeah.
I've heard the same thing.
So we're going to see how that works out.
And apparently rumors of two seasons worth of American horror story next year.
Has, has the current season started?
No.
So maybe fall spring fall?
I guess so.
I mean, they better get going.
And early reports from the set are saying,
God is crushing it.
She's in her element.
She's big time in her element.
So that's, if anything's going to bring me back to the show,
it's going to be her involvement in it.
I think.
And apparently, TVS is owning American dad right now,
and they've renewed it for two more seasons.
Have you ever, I tried once, couldn't do it.
Same here.
I mean, but I know people that think this is better than family guy.
Good lord.
And I'm like, to me, this is McFarlane the lesser.
It really is.
Well, you could put that McLevel and show in the same glass
in my life.
I like the Cleveland show.
It's just the Cleveland show was just trying to hard to be.
Fantastic, guys.
And I think I had a pretty genius tweet earlier this week.
I wonder if Cleveland's singing voice is boss-scanks.
We never heard him do the dirty low down.
So I was listening.
I was listening to a boss-scanks.
I was like, this sounds like Cleveland Brown singing voice.
Do you have dirty low down?
I know I've got something.
You got it.
I got to hear it now.
I think I think a lot of got is the Lito shuffle.
Oh, it's all you got.
Oh, wait.
No, I only have low down on karaoke.
Lito's the only song I have.
It's not karaoke.
I thought I had his whole hits album.
I guess not.
Is it low down and not dirty low down?
It's just called low down.
It's just called low down.
There's a reason I know that.
We're going to talk about here in a little while.
By the way, we do want to send a quick shout-out to some friends of ours.
Gen. Rome, Devon, Pike, Clay Harrison, and McGang with Universal Remote.
They're going to get a run at the Alamo.
Really?
That was a nice day.
That was a nice day.
Oh, gosh.
Tell me we're in awesome.
So what the, we don't, it's all I know is that they're going to get a run.
I don't know the dates or anything yet.
So congratulations.
It worked really, really hard.
It did an episode here in Dallas with Meg Turni, who I didn't get my picture with.
And they also did one in Houston that went really well.
Simply a week ago, right?
Cynthia Rothrock was a contestant.
You're kidding.
I mean, the Clay told me said she was such she was awesome.
So they're going to be doing it again here at the Alamo.
So look in congratulations to those kids.
So in friends of the show whom we love very, very much.
Oh, sounds like it's time for POI.
POI stands for person of interest.
It's a segment we do on this show where we take a person or an entity.
And we debate their greatness or lack thereof this week.
It is Chad Stern.
I was reading a biography about a big shock to anybody that would that knows me.
You could probably get it down to probably a handful of people at this point.
Reading a biography about the purple rain phenomenon written by Alan Light.
He was the editor of spin magazine.
He may still be the editor if I didn't get that magazine.
That's I don't know if spin still a thing or not.
But he worked for Rolling Stone and for spin magazine.
He had a really tight relationship with Prince back in the day.
And something was mentioned the day that he said he went to buy his tickets for the purple rain tour.
And he was comparing how much he paid to how much people were having to pay for the Jackson's Victory Tour tickets
at the then exorbitant amount of $30.
He said he got like great seats on the purple rain tour for like 17 bucks or something like that.
And I'm like this is in 80.
I want to say it was around 85 by the time I got to his neck of the woods because he was on the east coast.
Because I know that he played like Atlanta and the Syracuse show that they got that they filmed was in 85.
It was in March of 85 close to the end of the tour.
So I'm assuming that that's when they're for this guy.
That's when they're rallying got his tickets.
And I got to think in how much would you pay for a ticket like that now?
More than I can afford exactly my point.
And I got to think in the price of entertainment 30 years ago compared to the price of entertainment now.
And now staggering the facts and figures would probably be like an average of movie ticket nowadays cost you what?
Movie ticket?
Yeah.
12 bucks.
A movie ticket in 85 was like 275.
I know what I started working at the theater and it was 80 that was 89.
It was 450.
Because five bucks was like the thing where everybody went oh my god it's five bucks.
I mean shoot think about nowadays if you want to have the full on 3D Dolby Atmos IMAX experience.
18 bucks.
Two dollars and 75 cents for a movie ticket.
You can still do that if you go to the dollar theater.
You need a dollar theater's not even a dollar.
No exactly.
I saw a movie this morning when saw turbo kid highly recommended it.
Very very good.
If you like just 80's throwback.
It's wonderful.
So with this in Kung Fury make a good double feature.
According to friend of the show Jim Briggle he liked it better than Kung Fury.
Really?
Yes.
We went to an early morning show was a 1020 show.
It was six bucks.
It's not bad.
And the pre show.
Oh dear baby.
We had a clip from the wizard.
Oh nice.
Introducing the power glove.
We had the power glove actual commercial.
We had the the send me an angel scene from rad where Lori Loughlin is trying her
darned us to sell that she's a freestyle BMXer.
Oh please.
Dude it was.
Can I just kind of sidetracked us for a minute.
I think we already have.
I want to give another million dollar idea to our friends.
The almost cinematractas.
Okay.
They need to devote an entire section of their website.
After the movie leaves.
Put the pre shows online.
So somebody can take 30 minutes and just watch the brilliance of these people.
And the clips they find and how they put in together.
You're not charging for it.
So it's not like you're making money off of it.
Yeah, but I'm sure there's probably rights issues there.
I want you to strip it.
If you try to distribute it online through your website.
That maybe it's just like linking it to YouTube.
Oh I'm just saying it's probably a slippery slope.
I'm sure it's something that they thought.
Ah slippery slope.
God.
I just the pre show was brilliant.
And the movie was brilliant.
But I think that if they were to do something like that, it would kind of take away from the
the coolness of the pre show.
That's why I'm saying you wait until the movie leaves that the alamo.
And then put it online.
Yeah.
But it could always bring the movie back.
But then again, that might change the pre show.
So yeah.
But back to the original point.
The other thing that really threw me is you remember how much.
Because 85 was pretty much the beginning of the home video.
Boom.
Correct.
And I remember that the majority of the of the videos that you really wanted.
Like say the Star Wars films.
89, 98 something like that.
They were always poor.
You knew a guy who knew a guy that had already cracked the code and could copy it for you.
I'm not saying I knew that.
Well, but still, I mean, you had to know somebody that either owned it or
rented it.
But if you wanted to own an actual copy of it, it was going to cost you a pretty good chunk of
a chain.
And 85 absolutely.
Nowadays, if you're paying 90 bucks for anything home video related, it is a massive box
that chocolate X was like when the godfather came out was a hundred bucks.
The DVD of the godfather.
Yeah.
I remember I paid a hundred bucks because I pre-ordered it sunk us.
Yeah.
But you had like, it was a multiple movie.
Yeah.
Yeah.
You're not just throwing down 90 bucks for one film.
It's just an absolute exercise and ridiculousness when you think back to.
And I never did understand how that got decided.
What films got priced to own, what films got priced to rent.
Demand and rights, probably.
Like Fox is like, no, we don't want this out there to own.
We want people to have to keep paying for it.
If they want to keep renting.
I guess that's the only thing I could be in agreement with the video stores too.
Yeah.
Like I remember seeing Twilight Zone the movie behind the glass case for $79.99.
I'm like, really?
That thing?
I don't want to talk about that movie.
You know, it's just a given where a celebrity bar sits right now.
I don't want to talk about it.
But it just strikes me as odd that the way the paradigm has shifted from $80 home videos
and $15 concert tickets to $80 concert tickets and $15 home videos.
Yeah.
But you look at stuff like, you know, like, we talk about inflation, the price of gas.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I mean, gas in 2008 was insanity.
But right now, it's only about a dollar more than it was in the early 90s.
Well, like a gallon of gas in 85 was a dollar nine.
And we're, I saw it for 208 today.
Exactly.
It's a dollar higher.
That's not that bad of a stretch.
But your entertainment value.
I think it's really what you're looking at.
Yeah.
It just freaks me out that is, is it just the, the iron handle has doubled.
Yeah.
But good luck finding new vinyl.
Are you kidding me?
It's all over the place.
New vinyl?
Absolutely.
Not like it everywhere.
Not like it was in the 80s though, where everything was on vinyl.
But you don't have record stores anymore.
When we go to North Park to screen a movie, the Urban Outfitters right next door has an entire
Kiosk of vinyl, current and classic.
Mm-hmm.
Yeah.
But it's about the size of somebody's desk front and back.
You know, whereas when you go movie trading company, I'm not movie trading, but a
half price book has a ton.
Yeah.
But it's all old stuff.
I mean, like, not, I mean, you'd be surprised on how much vinyl's making a comeback, sir.
A lot of your newer albums.
Like, the t-shirt I'm wearing tonight, here come the mommies by the way.
Amazing show.
Doc and I went last month and saw him.
Just as good live as they were on the record.
Mm-hmm.
You know, just amazing to our show.
But there was a young lady that opened for them who she was selling her album on vinyl.
Good for her.
And if you bought it on vinyl, it gave you a code that you could just get the whole album
and download it to MP3.
You didn't have to actually record it.
You could just get automatically get it downloaded.
Because I would own that vinyl and never open it.
And that's, and see that.
But I'm telling you, you would be surprised on how much of a comeback vinyl is on right now.
You really, really would.
I mean, I know it's all this.
What is it?
150 gram.
I'm telling you, I went to a fries.
And they were playing a cold train vinyl.
I almost cried at the clarity.
And it sounded like I was sitting in the middle of cold train studio as he was recording it.
What kind of a, what kind of a phonograph?
I mean, they were used.
I mean, it was all high end equipment.
But just the quality of the sound is just,
oh, what was, what was Nicholas Cage's line?
And, and the rock about buying it when he got like a Beatles album.
And he was freaking out when he was opening it up.
And she's like, you know, my wife wouldn't understand that I paid $150 for a Beatles album.
She goes, you know, and his buddy was like, she'd be right to it.
It's crazy.
You know, why would you just spend $15 on a CD?
Because we'll number one because I'm a Beatles maniac.
And number two, the sound better.
I do miss vinyl.
I mean, I miss opening that big gatefold cover and getting the,
the liner notes and the lyrics.
And you know, it was, it was a roller alone.
Had the artwork in there that McCartney had done and that he had done.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah.
From the girl was mine.
And shoot, I mean, think about like some of the first,
some of the first recordings I ever owned were Queen's Flash Gordon soundtrack.
Mm-hmm.
And of course, the Star Wars soundtrack.
And those things were epic.
Mm-hmm.
I don't want to situate Fox records.
It may arrest in peace.
I'm sure it's not around anymore.
Um, it may be Fox records, about 20, century Fox records.
But Russ talks about old 78 RPMs.
I've got, I've got the book and record in here somewhere of Empire.
I think I still have all, I think I've got everything up to,
I think I've got Star Wars Empire and Jedi.
This, the soundtracks and the story of,
I don't think one of them I've got all picture disk.
Maybe two of them I've got a picture disk.
I know my original Jedi is on picture disk.
And I think I've got story of Star Wars on, on picture disk.
But I just, I missed that stuff.
The, remember, the Superman 2 soundtrack had the,
the Superman shield logo etched holographic style on,
Oh, yeah.
Oh, yeah.
Oh, yeah.
Speaking of Star Wars, I wanted to show you a picture I posted that day.
And you haven't seen it.
Stop it right now.
Somebody did a Star Wars leg lamp.
And it's C3PO's leg and R2D2's head.
And R2's head is the shade.
And the, and the caption is for GLA.
It must be from tattooing.
That is a major award.
And the comment from one of my, my former youth ministry kids.
My son saw this and said,
quote, they don't speak Italian on tattooing.
And my step brother from Idaho,
you need to educate him in the best Christmas story ever at her response.
He has been educated thus the comment.
But yeah, I mean, it is weird the juxtaposition that's happened.
Yeah.
And it's because these tours have become such grandiose spectacles
that they have to charge that so they can make the money back.
Well, I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that album sales
aren't what they used to be either.
Yeah.
You know, got to make the money somehow.
So much of this is all driven by numbers that they might have.
Might or might not have gotten on.
I do.
Because let's see, but that's a double-edged sword now.
Because on one hand, yes, you're not making the album sales.
But two, I'm more apt to buy one song off of an album just because I can.
Then, you know, would you rather have a dollar 80 of my money or none of my money?
Right.
So it's a double-edged sword with the way done.
And that might be a POI for a whole separate time.
I just can't help but think that that probably has to be a huge contributing factor to it.
Why the ticket prices have gotten so inflated.
That ticket master is just an evil corporation.
All right.
We'll say that for another time.
I'm going to put in it.
Let's get on.
I'm talking.
I'm going to put a football, baby.
It is the week.
Uh, done.
Alright.
Russess is first vinyl record with John Schneider's now or never.
Very well played.
So, um, college football this week, sir.
I'm so ready.
It's time.
I'm not in talking about preseason Paul.
So I do want to talk a little bit about USC coach Steve Sarkesian.
Apparently had a big, uh, banquet.
Got a little tipsy and let's some F-bombs fly and no.
Said how much Oregon sucks.
You've got to find his own, you know.
It's brilliant.
Todd.
Well, as a result of it, he says, of course, there were some medication involved.
And he shouldn't think of it.
But, uh, he bands parents from practice.
After the P-Puff did he daddy thing it.
You see a way.
I get that.
Okay.
He has also banned alcohol from the locker room.
I'm sorry.
What?
Excuse me.
Question.
That had to be done.
Question over here, coach.
Coach.
Question.
Back here.
Hi, coach.
You.
What?
Most of these kids aren't old enough to drink.
I was about to say.
But he has banned alcohol from the locker room.
God bless him for taking a stand.
What is he took a stand?
He drew a line in the sand.
That never should have had to have been drawn on the first place.
If the NCAA heard that went, start new investigation on you SC exclamation.
Don't put a fit in that one.
Put that to the top of the bottle.
Just I heard that last week of it.
I'm sorry.
Can you rewind that?
That sounds like a bad punch.
Can I hear that again?
Because I think I heard something that didn't sound white right.
God, heaven.
That's a thing.
That's really a thing.
I don't understand that at all.
I just, I sat at my desk like we are living in that age.
I don't want to know who this really affected.
Did the players hear this ago?
Oh, come on, coach.
What was it, the assistant coach?
You got to think at least one coach did that.
Just, oh, come on.
I want to play with, come on, coach.
Coach.
Why am I going to put my gatorade bottle?
God, I'm mighty this guy.
And I'm telling you, if you can finally audio from this, this drug can mess.
Oh, my god, it's brilliant.
You're killing me.
I don't even know where this drug is going.
This whole thing.
Just, I mean, because again, I get the whole banning parents for practicing, because
after we're whole people.
You get the rest of this.
What now?
With the gatorade challenge.
The people in Jim Beam are going to be very upset about this.
Why you kill him a buzz, coach.
So the reason I can guess the only reason I joined this team.
So I can get drunk.
I can't get out of this.
Okay.
Deep breath.
Let's go to the other side of the coin and talk a little NFL.
A couple of big moves this past week, sir.
Reggie Wayne, formerly of the cults, now was a patriot.
Did not think that would happen.
Wow.
I thought he'd been a lifelong Indianapolis cult.
But that dog did not hunt.
Also, Michael Vic, now a stealer.
Really?
That happened this past week.
Don didn't know till I told him.
Wow.
I bet that Frick is head.
Well, because they're back up for Rothless Burger has gone, as has gotten injured.
So they've signed Michael Vic.
Good luck with that.
But you know, and don't I, don't I had a really good discussion about this?
Uh, uh, and I wouldn't say it was Wednesday or Thursday.
The guys, my opinion, the guys paid his debt to society.
So we, we all have done stupid stuff in our youth.
Not this stupid.
But athletes is a whole different level.
You know what I mean?
Yeah.
Because there's just not a lot of accountability to them when they're young.
You want to make such a big deal when they screw up as adults, because you, but you tell them their entire lives that they're invincible.
But the guy paid his debt to society.
He's, he's, how much have you heard about him since he returned to Lee?
Nothing.
That's what I'm saying.
So on a certain level, I'm not saying you have to forget, because you should never forget.
But on a certain level, there has to be some forgiveness here and kind of get past it a little bit.
As long as he doesn't walk around with that sensitive entitlement, I haven't seen that out of him.
Then I've seen a little bit, I can't speak to the guys.
I'm not within 247, but I think there's a certain level of humility.
I wouldn't cry if he signed with my team.
I just, I just hope that he doesn't become a liability in act like a coup.
Why is it back?
Yeah.
Rust wants to know about Tibo with the Eagles.
Yeah, they signed him.
He played in their first preseason game.
I don't know if he's played since, but you know what?
He's a serviceable backup.
I still think he needs to play tight end.
I think he really excelled that position, but he wants to be an NFL quarterback.
And who am I to question somebody's dream?
I want to see you now.
It's exceed so badly.
I really do.
Let's go through some preseason scores from this past weekend.
Right now live.
I was just finishing up Houston over New Orleans, 27 to 13.
Friday nights.
New England beats Carolina by a point boy.
This was a snoozer.
1716.
Kansas City all over Tennessee, 34 to 10.
Detroit and Jacksonville, the end of this got kind of fun.
The last two minutes of this game were a little crazy because it was like a two point lead.
Detroit ends up winning 22 to 17.
Yesterday, Minnesota over your beloved Dallas Cowboys 28 to 14.
My dolphins got a preseason win.
But you know, as they say, the wins don't count, but the injuries do.
Well, Miami wins 13 to nine.
We did see last week, Jordi Nelson out for the year.
I've heard anything new.
Okay.
Cleveland over Tampa by beloved Buccaneer's 31 to 7.
If you had, first of all, if you're bidding on preseason football, you really need to evaluate yourself.
But if you had the under.
And the Buffalo Pittsburgh game, you were screwed as Buffalo beats Pittsburgh.
43 to 19.
Good Lord.
The jets over the Giants 28 to 18.
Cincinnati over Chicago 21 to 10.
Washington.
Beats Baltimore 31 to 13.
Another game if you had the under your screwed as Philadelphia beats Green Bay 39 to 26.
The colds over the Rams 24 to 14.
Seattle beats San Diego by a point.
Denver by seven over San Francisco.
And there is night football this evening coming up in 25 minutes.
Oakland hosting Arizona.
Hmm.
So would you watch that one?
I got other stuff got to watch.
I mean, if there was nothing else going on football football.
But I just, it just breaks my heart to watch preseason football.
It's just like.
None of this counts.
Half these guys aren't even going to be on the team next week.
Because you know, we got to get down to 54.
53.
I'm sorry.
53.
Yeah.
And I will say this and I'm not the only person that with this opinion.
Hard knocks with the Houston Texans best hard knocks ever really.
This has been riveting television.
Sir.
I will say they're coach got a, got a, got a love for the effort.
I'm going to lie to you.
But this hard knocks.
JJ Wat is carrying this show this season.
But it's been really, really good.
I have thoroughly enjoyed hard knocks this year.
So if you haven't had a chance to get caught up, go to HBO Go get caught up.
Because it's a really, really great season this year.
And a lot of people were like Houston, really.
Really good show this year.
I haven't watched hard knocks.
I don't know how long.
I love hard knocks.
I love it.
I love it.
It's almost there.
It's almost there.
It's almost there.
Almost there.
Almost there.
It's my favorite time of year.
And you know what?
Father falls coming in a little bit early this year too.
No kidding.
It's still a little warmer than it's for me.
It should be.
But you got to remember sort of three weeks away from fall.
And you look at your door at 815 and it's already getting pretty dark outside.
And I'm good with that.
I am.
You know how I feel about that.
Yeah.
I'm always afraid.
But yeah.
And we're also about what 38 days away from the Texas State Fair.
I knew you were going to bring that up.
Very real.
You know how much I love the fair.
You know how much I love the fair.
Do we want to mention what what our dear friend of the show mentioned before.
She left out of here.
Deep fried lobster with a champagne dipping sauce.
She's going to have it raving.
I'll like it.
And so be having it because she's classy.
Because I can last say.

We're going to have to get all the gear set up and everything else.

I think I remember them at the last.

the magic of the musicals for the first time.

That's awesome.
We're going to be there.
There's going to be more interviews and you can shake a stick at.
They've already told me that.
Had a great conference call with them a couple of weeks ago.
We're going to be doing the show live Thursday, September 17th.
If you want to come hang out with us at the House of Blues in Dallas,
we would love to see as many people from the Empire come out and support our friends
at Dallas summer musicals as possible.
This is going to be a lot of fun.
If for no other reason, give yourself an excuse to go hang out at House of Blues.
I love the House of Blues.
I was just there a couple of weeks ago myself.
I know right after you went from mummies.
Oh, really?
Yeah.
I was at gas monkey.
Oh, I thought you saw them at the last time there.
That was right.
That's right.
That's right.
But yeah, I love the House of Blues.
It's a great venue.
The food there is really good.
There's going to be orders and cocktails.
So you know, people will be milling about smartly and being social.
We want to see as many people out there as possible.
Thursday, September 17th, it goes from 4 to 8.
So even though it's a school night, you're not going to be out real late.
This is true.
We're, again, we're doing the show live.
And it's going to be one of our remote shows.
So you know anything can happen.
And usually does.
Yes.
Because many things have.
There will be a run sheet.
We make no guarantees that we'll get to anything on it.
But whenever we do live remote shows, you know how much fun we have.
And a lot of people have always, I've been saying to me, Rob, how can I be a part of the show?
Come out.
Yeah.
Thursday, September 17th.
It's going to be more fun than you can shake a stick at.
And we want to thank Francesco and all of our friends at Dallas.
Some are musicals who have been so good to us for now.
What's the past 15, 16 months?
Giving us the opportunity to not only see some amazing stage productions, but be able to review them.
And tell me all until the Empire about them.
And programs like this exist because of the funding that they get.
So come help out.
Every bit helps, whether it's a dollar or a thousand dollars.
Come hang out with us.
We're not going to charge anything.
No.
We'll charge the twice as much as we charge it for the podcast.
Yeah.
You gouger.
But come hang out with us.
It's going to be so much fun.
I'm very excited about this.
I am too.
It's going to be order through chaos.
It's the only way I can describe our live shows.
But we, I guess we've been promised some great interviews that we're going to have.
And you know, if you know, Don, he's going to be running around like a chicken with his head.
God, I'm going to have to tell you what he does in our live shows.
And he, Don always comes through for us at the live shows.
So come hang out with us Thursday October the 17th.
I'm sorry.
September the 17th.
I'm in October already.
September 17th.
House of Blues.
We're going to lock down at time as the week's come on.
But you can probably guarantee it's going to be at latest six o'clock.
But we'll be going until eight.
Strong.
I'm down.
I should die.
I'm so in on this.
And this is what?
That's like a week before the state fair.
Oh, boy.
That's the weekend before the state fair.
You're social life kind of back in order.
Getting out meeting people.
Making business deals.
Whatever those people do.
I don't know.
I'm just.
I'm extremely excited about this.
We're looking forward to hanging out with Francisco in the crew.
And getting me to a whole.
No, but a new people.
Especially on something on this.
Especially something on this level.
We really haven't had a chance to sit down and have a really deep.
Conversation with with with Francisco since we started this relationship.
I can't wait to interview him.
That's what I'm looking forward to.
Let's go on the music talk.
Let's go on with this right here.
That sounds familiar.
You talked about hitting runner earlier.
Mm-hmm.
It's available on title tomorrow.
Really?
Yes, sir.
If you are a subscriber to the title and music service,
this is Jay Z's deal.
And I'd like three or four other artists involved with him.
It's going to be available tomorrow.
Wow.
That's...
I thought this was going to be saved up until...
...by closer to the end of the year.
Well, I mean, if you want a physical copy, I'm sure.
But you can stream it tomorrow.
Mm-hmm.
Not necessarily.
These are the details I'm hearing.
I do love this song.
Can't be, can't be in a bad mood when you have songs placed.
Makes you want to shake your butt.
I didn't run...
Well, wait a minute.
Same tomorrow.
That's what I read.
According to Prince.org, it's saying it's next Monday.
Oh, okay.
So it'll be on Labor Day?
Yeah, it looks like it.
Really?
Well, wait a minute.
Also wins the seventh.
That's next Sunday.
That's next Monday.
That's, yeah.
On Labor Day.
Yeah.
Maybe he's just...
...because he can't wear white anymore.
He's just going to do it that day.
The next release from the entertainer will be exclusively on title.
Exclusively on title.
So it'll be next Monday.
On September 7th.
All right.
Fair enough.
And I want to talk about a brand new addiction I have.
I've tweeted about this.
I've put this on social media.
How I am not aware of this until now.
And now I've been listening to it all along.
I just didn't know what it was.
Late 70s, early 80s soft rock.
Okay.
Okay.
Has a name.
It's called Yacht Rock.
Yacht.
Yacht.
YACHT.
Okay.
But think about it.
It makes sense.
Sounds like this.
Sailing, Christopher Cross.
Yeah.
Exem has an entire channel dedicated to it.
I cannot get enough of this serve.
I can't.
Like it's a lot of steely Dan, Fleetwood Mac.
Uh, Hall of Notes.
It's so amazing.
It's pretty much just what was the backbone of adult contemporary in the early 70s.
Early 80s.
And that's what it is.
It's amazing.
And I thought maybe they made this up.
So I like searched for it on Amazon.
You can buy entire collections of Yacht Rock.
I've even made a playlist in my iPod of the songs I'm hearing on this station.
I cannot get enough of this.
Really excited about it.
I, I, I heard a commercial as I was listening to 80s on it.
And I was like, I should check this out.
And I was on my way to a screening.
It was Wednesday night.
And I got to, I got to the Angelica up in Plano early.
Uh-huh.
I literally sat in my car for 45 minutes.
Just listening to this station.
Did you have a car?
Didn't need to.
I mean, let me, let me give you just a little taste of some things that are on this station.
Uh, okay.
There's nothing from, uh, oh, that's, that's karaoke.
Dead gummit.
Um, let's see.
We talked about Christopher Cross.
It's Fleetwood Mac.
Um, let's see.
Toto foreigner.
Toto, I'm telling you.
But you know what?
Did he have a rotation on that?
And it gets me giggle every time.
Yeah, I'm all boo.
Uh-huh.
I think I even want to Twitter this week.
I wonder if Paul Rudd walk up still walk up to him to this day and say that line.
Let's see, uh, Chicago, journey.
Yep.
There you go.
The aforementioned Boss Gags, low down.
Mm-hmm.
Angelito, I think low down is only on their plan.
Uh, Steelers wheel, stuck in the middle.
I haven't heard that one yet.
Uh, Dan Hartman, I can dream about you.
I haven't played that one yet either.
Uh, but yeah, Austin, more than a feeling.
And it's just, you can't be in a bad mood when this station's on.
You can't do it.
And they're only doing it through Labor Day.
Which is like, you could do this all year round, bro.
I found a 60 track compilation.
Yeah.
It's a three-day thing on Amazon.
Yes.
Yeah.
I literally, dude, I literally cannot get enough of this.
Jeffrey Osborne stayed with me tonight.
Uh, George Benson gave me the night.
Peter Frampton showed me the way.
It's like, oh, and tons of little river band.
You know I'm a big little river band.
I got that greatest hit to collect.
Dude, I'm telling you, every, it's like, I'm, I'm streaming it on my phone at work.
Y'all and Hover's Croquette's Thee.
Yep.
I'm listening to it in the car.
I'm playing it while I'm doing.
How's work when I'm here?
It's insane.
Common horse.
Uh, Russ says what, it's Channel 31 on Series XM.
I'm telling you, up here, Prairie League.
It's, I cannot get enough of this.
Good lord.
And there's no DJs.
But there's a little bumpers that are hilarious.
Oh God, Fogelberg's leader at the band.
Prothered.
Loggins in Missina.
Yamama don't dance.
Tons of Kenny Loggins on this station.
It is insanity.
The fact that I've talked about this now for almost four minutes.
Like, it's, I can't believe that we, you especially didn't know about this.
I didn't know about this show.
It was a thing.
But it, it makes sense.
It, it totally makes sense.
It definitely has my curiosity, Pete.
Oh my God, I can't, I'm telling you.
I cannot get enough of this thing.
It's insanity.
And it's, I know it's eating up my data on my phone.
And I don't care.
I got plenty of it for this month.
But you probably have almost all of these songs already.
You still can't help them compile like this.
By the way, tonight's the VMA's Kanye's going to get to video van card award moving on.
Oh, geez.
Hmm.
Pete, listen to this.
You know who this is.
Oh, yeah.
New album in the fall is what I'm hearing.
Very excited about a new Adele album.
And, you know, respect to Cold Boy.
New album from them as well.
Rupert for the fall.
I guess what she was doing the bomb team again.
They still haven't made data announcement.
And I got to be honest with you.
Every time I watch that trailer,
I get a little more onboarding.
That's what's really been shocking me the year and like,
Well, when I saw the Taylor, the teaser, the teaser,
I was like, okay, I'm good.
And then I saw the full length and I was like,
I've got concerns.
And then I watched it again.
And I was like, I'm a little better.
Well, it would make you ever have concerns.
I don't know that I just got a weird vibe from it.
And but the more I'm watching the trailer,
the better I'm getting.
But did you also realize?
We found out this week.
The Baptista first Filipino actor in Bond history.
Really?
Yes.
I think they had at least a couple of Bond girls.
And at Filipino blood.
No, sir.
They said there's been a couple of like,
minor background actors that have done work.
But he's the first Filipino actor in a Bond film.
So congratulations to the Baptista.
I mean, to me, just,
Kristoff Baltish or bad guy.
And that's all I needed to do.
Yeah, I just,
I'm getting, I think it's because we're getting closer.
That's going to be a heck of a four weeks.
Oh, the mighty.
But yes, we're going to forget what our house is.
Look like.
Ugh.
But I'm ready for this for her new album.
How long has it been since since 21?
Do you mean second I can tell you?
As I'm waiting for it to come up.
Excuse me.
I feel love this song so much too.
Oh, come on.
When I have helped me out here.
2011 was 21.
Wow.
Four years.
That's, it makes sense.
It sounds about right, though.
Yeah.
So.
Shouldn't we be having a seal album pretty pretty pretty soon?
I thought we'd heard something about it.
But I didn't think it was a game of it.
But you know how he is without a release.
It's like, oh, by the way, it's here.
Thanks, sail.
Because he hasn't done an album of original material.
And all of a sudden.
What?
Well, was it system?
No.
No.
Commitment.
Commitment.
Was that before or after sold to?
Thing was in between the two albums.
Also interesting.
We may have a sign of the apocalypse, sir.
They have buried the hatchet.
No pun intended.
Excellent.
The rest of the band.
Excellent slash.
How to meeting.
That apparently allegedly was arranged by Fred Durst.
Very weird.
Okay.
He's claiming he set the meeting up.
And they've buried the hatchet in all as well with.
Excellent slash.
And again, no pun intended.
So.
I don't know what this means for the future.
I don't know if they're going to do a tour.
I don't know if there's going to be music.
I just heard this.
And I was like this.
And when the cubs win the penant.
That's in the Bible.
When the small bears reach the top of the mountain and grab the flag.
But.
This is a thing.
What I'm hoping for.
Is.
Does this mean that he's changed his stance on the on the hall.
I hope so.
Because they should they should be in.
Yeah.
Because he's the only thing keeping him out.
I would even take the lineup with Matt Soram on drums.
For them to go in.
I just I just can't believe that he is so opposed to the idea of being in the Hall of Fame.
When all the other guys want to be and he's like, no.
Well, you know what.
Time heals everything.
Time changes people.
I don't know.
I've seen people stay bitter for a long time.
I've seen people take it.
It's been 25 years.
I've seen people take grudges to the grave.
Though.
I mean literally take them to the grave.
But see it's only acts.
I think I think slash could care less about that beat.
I think it's all axle.
Well, but that's, but that's all it takes.
I know I agree with you.
I'm just saying I think that this is a big step, especially for axle.
Because you know, axle don't ever.
Maybe he's wrong.
Yeah.
But apparently it's happening.
Oh good.
So music new releases this week.
A ban for the kids at the closing the hair against me.
Have a live album called 23 live sex acts.
That's true.
I'm sure they're new out there.
That's a family friendly new album from these guys.
I am maiden.
The book of soul.
Oh my god.
And there's apparently a Robin Williams tribute song on this album that they wrote.
Called tears of a clown.
Wow.
I read that this past week.
But maiden saw they're getting it done, brother.
I had no idea.
I didn't think they were still a thing.
Oh no.
There's still two.
One of their band members is the pilot.
It's the plane they fly.
Yeah.
But I didn't think they were still even recording much less to her.
I don't know.
They're out there.
They are definitely out there, sir.
Freaks me out.
Also this week.
Oh, I lost my place here.
There we go.
P-I-L.
Talk about how are they still a thing?
What?
P-I-L.
A public image limited.
What the world needs now?
Apparently there's another one of their albums.
I don't know if I agree with that.
Just that's weird.
I just report the new sir.
I don't know.
All right.
Let us move on to some...
Do some in memoriam.
Two huge ones this week, man.
This one...
First one may sound a bit old, but it's happened after we went off air last week.
And it actually was probably before, but we don't usually cover in memoriam.
When we do special editions, just because we're kind of preoccupied.
But we're going to do this in reverse order.
Okay.
Passing away on Thursday at age 58.
Daryl Dawkins.
He was known as Chocolate Thunder.
Played with the 76ers in the nets.
Played briefly for the pistons in the jazz late in his career.
Went to Manored Evans High School in Orlando, Florida.
Average double figures in scoring nine times in his 14 years in the NBA.
Often ranked them on the league leaders in field goal percentage.
Also played the NBA finals three times at the 76ers in the 70s and 80s.
But he also set the NBA record for fouls in the season, committing 386 fouls in the 8380 forces.
Wow.
Played a lot in Canada as the years went on.
He actually retired.
Get this retired in 2000.
Really?
After playing for the Winnipeg Cyclones.
Average 12 points per game, 6.1 repounds per game, and 1.4 blocks per game.
He renounced his college eligibility at 18 on apply for the 75 draft as a hardship candidate.
The sixers picked him fifth overall.
Behind David Thompson, David Myers, Marvin Webster, and Alvin Adams.
He was one of the very first guys that was known for shattering the backboard.
That was my next question.
How many shattered backboards does he have?
I don't know if there's that numbers up there.
But he also had some self-creating.
It names like Sir Slam, Dr. Duncan Stein.
What's another one?
He listened to a lot of George Clinton records I'm assuming.
He actually named some of his dunks.
But the big one was the, the first backboard breaking necklace called the chocolate thunder flying.
Robinsine crying, teeth shaking, glass breaking, rump, roasting, bun, toasting, wham, band, glass,
breaker, I am jam.
Woo!
Did I mess with it?
Flair?
Work with him on that one?
I don't mind.
Nick named other dunks like the rim record.
The gorella.
The lookout below.
The in your face disgrace.
The cover your head.
The yo mama.
The spine-chiller supreme.
And the gray house special for when he'd go coast the coast.
I want to know what the yo mama looked like.
At one point he claimed to be an alien from the planet Love Tron.
Love, I love Darryl Dawkins.
Not where he spent the offseason practicing interplanetary funkmanship.
And where his girlfriend juicy Lucy lived.
See this, this, we miss this in the lead.
Juicy Lucy is a stuffed cheeseburger.
It is indeed.
It is indeed.
What a cat.
I didn't know this cat was that colorful.
Had a brief stint with the globe trotters?
That doesn't.
And that is not.
That works.
He actually applied for an analyst position with ESPN was when they did the dream job with former athletes.
He was part of that.
Head coach of the ABA's Newark Express.
Late in the 90s.
His autobiography was called Chocolate Thunder the Uncensored Life in Times of Darryl Dawkins.
Which if that's a good read.
Brother.
Chronicle of some of the racism he encountered during his NBA career playing alongside Julius Irving.
And his off-the-court experiences with drug partyying and women.
In September of 86 he aloped with his girlfriend Kelly Barnes.
The following autumn.
They have two were planning to divorce.
Would she lost her life at her parents home in New Jersey?
Huh.
He married an 88.
He married a former net's cheerleader.
They divorced after 10 years.
He later remarried.
And had three children with his wife Janice Nick Alexis and Tabitha.
This was a guy that was so much fun to watch.
In 99 SNL named him the man of the millennium and we can update sketch.
He will definitely be missed.
And also passing away this week.
Actually as we before last.
We would be remiss.
Especially on this show with this executive producer.
If we did not talk about the death on August 17th of Yvonne Craig.
She was born May 16th, 1937.
She hits two geek things.
I don't know if you know this or not.
Yes, I do.
But go ahead.
She was the Orion Slave Girl Marta in the Star Trek episode.
Home Gods Destroy.
We're talking about the green skin girl, right?
She was back girl.
And he realized in 1951 her family would do a cliff.
What?
Wow.
She was born in Taylorville, Illinois and raised in Columbus, Ohio.
She attended WH Adams and High School and then Sunset High School.
Wait a minute.
What it says?
That's where my parents went.
Really?
Yes.
She did not technically graduate due to the lack of a single PE credit.
Oh, for the love of God.
She was discovered by Alexandria Denon Danilova, a ballerina instructor.
She joined the ballet Rousseau Monte Carlo as a younger youngest cordie ballet member.
Which was also, of course, helpful when she got to play back girl.
Yeah.
Yeah.
She left the ballet company in 1957 over a disagreement on casting changes and then moved to LA.
One of her earliest television roles in an episode of Perry Mason along Neil Hamilton,
who played her stepfather.
Who, of course, then would become Commissioner Gordon on Batman.
Really?
Mm-hmm.
She would do three films all in 1959, the young man, the Jean-Cruper story.
She was in the Gidgen movie.
That makes sense.
But, of course, she also did two films with Elvis.
It happened at the World's Fair and Kissing Cousins.
She was, she was in Mars, needs women.
Kissing Cousins, what a creepy time.
Yeah.
She was in Mars, needs women.
She was also an in-like Flint, which was the basis for Austin Powers.
Was it?
Mm-hmm.
I didn't know that.
Mm-hmm.
Yes, sir.
Where she played a Russian ballet dancer opposite James Coburn.
She was also in the many lives of Dolby Gillis.
She actually didn't episode of the man from Uncle.
She did an episode of the Wild Wild West, McHales, Navy.
Big Valley, land of a giant ghost in Mrs. Mirror.
But, let's be honest.
Third and final season of the Batman Television series.
That girl, dude.
She was only in it for once.
Yeah, but the last season, they put her in it.
Wow.
And I don't believe, and I'm sure when Don hears this and help do the research and
cracking if I'm wrong.
I don't believe that character existed until the TV series.
Really?
I'm pretty sure.
I'm trying to look and see if they've got that.
So it was basically like Harley Quinn of its time.
Pretty marinated for the show.
Surely not.
Pretty sure, dude.
Oh, I'll look into that one myself because that's going to drive me nuts.
But I always remember that third season with she was in the episode
that actually have her in the intro riding by on her motorcycle.
Yeah.
And she would always be the third.
Oh, no, she apparently she was looking to see.
No, she did appear in the comics in first.
1956 is a love interest for Batman.
Kathy Kane was Batman woman.
And then they had a second female character
a bat girl.
Yeah.
And her face is like completely blacked out.
Right.
Like you can't even see her eyes.
Yeah.
Betty Kane.
But I don't think Barbara Gordon.
Yeah.
Barbara Gordon was developed for the television series.
Okay.
The character of Barbara Gordon, which, by the way, is a commissioner Gordon's daughter,
not Alfred's niece.
Don't do me.
She started on her.
But she passed away a breast cancer.
And she will be sorely sorely sorely missed.
So how many of those have we lost now from that original cast?
We've got Caesar Romero.
Burgess Meredith.
Burgess Meredith.
June New March still with us.
Arthur Kitt.
Arthur Kitt.
Adam was still with us.
And Gorshin still with us, right?
As far as I know.
Hmm.
Which is bummed me out.
Yeah.
So that is in memory and for this week.
And let us now go to a little baseball talk.
Marlons fire their manager.
Because that's the problem.
Their assistant GM takes over in the interim.
Just don't get it.
Let's go to your standings.
The American League East.
Show us beloved boss and red stocks.
Still not doing well.
Their 10 games below 514 back.
Baltimore has lost 4 in a row.
But they are 4 games below 500.
But they are 3 games ahead of Boston.
They are 1 game behind Tampa Bay.
Tampa Bay right now 8.5 behind the Yankees.
The Yankees and Toronto have both 1.3 in a row.
But Toronto has a 1.5 game lead on the Yankees.
In the central division Detroit has the same record as Boston.
But they're 20 back.
They've lost their last 4 straight.
They are a game in a half behind the Shio socks.
The Shio socks are 2 games behind Cleveland.
Cleveland is 3.5 or 2.5 behind Minnesota.
By the way, Cleveland is 1.5 in a row.
Minnesota now 13 back on Kansas City.
We're getting close to clinch.
clinch town, sir.
In.
That's hard to believe that the season's almost.
Oh, dude.
We've only got a month to play off.
No, it's just free to me out.
In the AL West.
You're beloved AL West.
The Oakland A's 56 and 74 right now.
They are 15 and a half back.
They are 3 and a half back on Seattle.
Seattle is 4 and a half back on.
The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim Los Angeles County California American North America
Earth Milky Way.
They have lost 3 in a row where has your Rangers are on a 4 game win streak.
And are 2 and a half games up on the Angels.
They are 3 back on Houston.
Breathe and down the Astros next, sir.
I'm good with that.
Your Rangers are trying to get in this thing.
In the AL West.
We're Colorado Rockies.
Our 24 games below 500.
They are 20 games back.
They're 10 games behind the.
The ups on the Dodgers, but the.
The Padraes.
Podraes are a half game back on Arizona Arizona 6 back.
On the Giants and Misty's beloved Dodgers are 3 and a half games up in the division.
They've won 5 and a row.
In the NL Central, the Cincinnati Red still suck.
They're 30 games back.
They're a game and a half behind Millawakay.
Millawakay.
Stay with me right now.
Millawakay.
28 and a half back.
They are 19 games back on the Cubs for the middle of the back.
Cheese.
The Cubs are 4, a 5 and a half behind.
Dons below the Pittsburgh Pirates and Dons Pirates are 4 back on January.
John Anderson's beloved St. Louis Cardinals.
But this is where the Cardinals turn it on, man.
They don't have the best over under in the league.
You want to who's got the best.
Run differential in the league right now.
Yeah.
Toronto plus 193.
And in the only division that matters, the NL East.
Philadelphia still sucks.
They are 33 games below 500.
And they're 20 and a half back.
Tied with my bowl of it tomorrow.
But at least my marlins have a 100 point better run differential.
This is the only division that matters why exactly.
Because it's my division.
Oh, my Atlanta Braves.
Got the tar kicked out of them by the Yankees.
The Yankees hung 20 on them twice this weekend.
Not helping our run differential.
They are 18 games back right now.
The Washington Nationals are 5 and a half back on the freaking mess.
Stupid mess.
All right.
It is now time for America's favorite game show.
It looks like Russell's dropped out of the chat room.
So it's just going to be you, sir.
It is time for America's favorite game show.
What is the run differential for the Philadelphia Phillies?
Chad, 123.
123, not even close.
Because nobody else can play this week.
Because nobody else is in the chat.
Right now.
Philadelphia, 52 and 79.
And their win percentage is just under 40%.
They are 30 and 35 at home.
They are 22 and 44 on the road.
Run differential.
Minus 162.
Cheek.
Wow.
As far as how that compares with the rest of the league.
I thought I was being cruel.
The closest to them right now.
Colorado at minus.
No, Atlanta 136.
Colorado 105.
So there's that.
Let's talk about wrestling.
Did I time that?
Did I do that well?
That was very well done.
After Summerslam, apparently takers struggling physically again.
I got a late text from Stephen Zimmerman.
Something like that.
There were reports of him collapsing backstage.
There were other reports of people that had taken pictures of him limping heavily towards the hotel.
Bless his heart.
Is he going to be able to make wrestling any?
I don't know why he keeps doing this.
Or is he going to have to start training now?
I mean, what else is the guy I have to prove?
I mean, to me, he has to get the win back.
Yeah.
But I just hate to see him put himself in a wheelchair to do it.
It's so now worth it.
And I thought the match with Lesnar was good.
The whole him laughing at Lesnar laughing at him was a nice moment.
Somebody took both of their faces and superimposed them on Will Ferro and John C. Riley from stepbrothers.
Shut that was kind of funny this past week.
But that was a rough deal, man.
I worry about the guy.
I don't really do.
I don't feel like we shouldn't have to at this point.
You know, it's too early.
Well, I think about it.
He's been doing this since he was a zygote.
That's what I'm talking about.
I mean, he is the, he's been an active wrestler along with anybody in the business.
Really?
At this point, I believe you're right.
Yeah, at this point.
I can't think of anybody else that's been doing this as long and is still on the roster.
Mark, please don't overdo it.
We need you to hear a lot longer than that.
So I'm saying.
All right.
You ready to start talking?
You haven't watched anything this past week.
No.
All right.
Let me get my notes pulled up.
Some of them starting to get kind of sick of three hour RAWs.
Well, that's not starting to.
The whole them telling us what the hashtag is.
Hashtag this and hashtag.
Take your lesson.
We know what's going on.
We're going to hashtag it the way we want to hashtag it.
Shut your mouth.
Talk about what's going on in the right.
You are talking about a company that told you how to download and or just put it in the corner
and then what people not know how to read handle it from there.
Like, you're already going to put it there anyway.
Just put it in the corner and then we'll take care of it ourselves.
Oh, we did miss an in a more in Justin Wilson indie card driver.
Oh, I'll pass away last weekend.
We do want to make sure we mention that.
And there were a lot of.
There was actually teams that put his number on their cars and I heard a lot of great stories
for people that talked about how much of a quality human being he was.
I'm sorry.
We missed that in memory.
But I want to make sure we get it out there now.
Hey, man's cutting a promo.
I love Hey, man's promo.
I do worry about his health sometimes when he gets his work.
Does he does like we did with flare back in the day.
Yes, like it was chewing his tongue off.
But he's just he's turning 19 different colors.
And yeah, flare would do that to you.
Yeah.
And then we had somebody show up Monday night in the middle of the tag match.
Yeah, I freak whenever you told me about this.
Glasses were on.
Urban camouflage was on.
You still have this on your DVR?
No, I didn't.
No, it.
I'm sure you could probably get hold of it somewhere.
Yeah, probably.
This was brilliant.
Brilliant's incarnate.
And they were on SmackDown this week and they said they're back.
And they're here today.
Wow.
So I want you to think about this.
Are they still on TV broadcasts of TNA?
No.
They're not.
No.
The divon hasn't been forever.
But I know that the love of race been a pretty big thing.
But they took him out like two weeks after he became called the wall.
Okay.
We're going to talk about that here in a minute.
I think about it.
Take her.
Dudley boys.
Sting.
Hall of Fame class.
Oh, dear Lord.
And now that Vince has them.
Don't put it past him because that would put three of your four.
Three of your five now.
TNA Hall of Famers in the WWE Hall of Fame.
Anything you can do.
The fourth one is a phone call.
The fifth one there might be some issues that have to be worked out.
But they would be.
We talking.
Jerk.
Oh.
Angles of phone call.
I'll about say that happened.
And I love how it says Dudley boys.
It's good to hear it said right.
Not.
Oh, Team 3D.
Shut up.
They're a Dudley boys.
They own the gimmick.
We also have a new member of the Wyatt family.
A Brock Strowman.
I can't remember.
I'm a Brock Strowman or something like that.
This is a big old boy.
This is a big old boy.
Like he kind of towers over Wyatt.
Look, are we ever going to meet sister advocates?
The rumors are.
It's going to happen.
I read today that they're they're talking about bringing her in.
But does this further my Rowan theory?
That you bring him back face because they've replaced him?
Or do you just have four people in this stable?
Why not?
I mean, why not?
Why not grow that stable?
I mean, I'm good with it.
But I'm not for sure.
I don't know.
It's going to be.
It's going to be interesting booking coming up because they're really starting to lose
Wyatt again.
They've got to find somebody else for them to feud with.
Well, oh, what here's here's what I wonder though.
Do you have somebody that tries to come in and supplant
as the leader of this family?
It have to be somebody completely random.
Well, I'm just this new guy.
No, he doesn't.
He's got kind of a goofy look till him.
I don't think he's got the charisma.
I could be wrong because he hasn't said anything yet.
But he does wear a black sheep mask because he's Abigail's black sheep.
So this could be interesting.
And then we get to the end.
Taking a deep breath.
The whole thing had been building up,
but they had done this bronze statue thing for for for for Rollins.
Because, you know, he now has both championships.
And he needs to be alongside of people like Andre the Bryant.
Andre the giant Bruno Sam Martino in the ultimate warrior.
Yeah, okay.
So we actually saw that they they revealed the statue earlier in the night.
But Rollins didn't see it.
So they bring the statue covered up out to the ring.
They do the big reveal pull up the curtain.
And there he stands.
Two things.
First of all, he's lost some weight.
He looks more in shape now.
He didn't look bad whenever he showed up.
He looks better now.
The guts a little bit last two.
And what we'll go ahead and do this this now.
He's getting the shot at night of champions.
When they were doing this segment, Rollins had left the belt in the ring.
And the whole time I'm going, don't let him pick up that belt.
Don't you let him pick up that belt.
He picked up the belt and acted like he was about to put it on.
And I just went,
We're gonna put the belt on this young.
We're gonna put the belt in this gentleman.
But did they have him for that long?
How long do you really have to have him?
Well, but I mean, how many appearances did he sign for?
I don't know what the new deal is.
So he's made a new deal?
He asked him because the old deal expired.
It was five appearances within a year.
And that deal's almost up.
I think they put the belt on.
I hope so.
I hope he's made a new deal.
I hope it's not just you put the belt on him at night of champions.
Give him give him survivor series.
Because I think what you do with this now that Seth has both belts.
He asked to the rest of twice in one night.
It doesn't lose both belts to one guy.
No, okay.
He'll lose the US belt back to Seema.
And then he drops the world title this thing.
He wouldn't.
You would.
There are there are not enough buckets in the world that I could fill with my tears
of Joel.
Like I would cry like a child.
But I think they put the belt on.
There's something and it's not my sting bias.
My gut told me as soon as they went off the air.
My gut told me they're going to put the belt on his dude.
And that was even before they announced he was getting the title shot.
Because they didn't announce the title shot until after Raw went off the air.
They're going to put the belt on him, dude.
And my entire world will turn upside down.
Because I'm not going to know what to do with this.
They've got to find some way of revitalizing interest in that title.
And can you imagine what those side plates are going to look like?
Something that would look really great right next to a shadow box with your tights in it.
By the way, those are not hanging in the closet.
Good.
With the certificate of authenticity.
Okay, good clip to it.
Glad to see you taking better care.
And I've always taken good care of it.
I didn't know what to do with it.
You know, I would give like that from a dude like barb wire.
Come on.
No, not take care of it.
But they're going to put the belt on him, dude.
This is going to happen.
And I think it's good bookin.
Yeah, I agree with you.
Because even if he drops it back to Rollins, which then furthers Rollins is being the new legend killer,
you still give sing a one at the belt.
And plus it's kind of a favor you're going to do from making job at WrestleMania like he did.
Yeah.
That shouldn't have happened.
Yeah, he deserved better than that.
So you go from that to impact.
Oh, man.
I like to say the following to the Hardy Boys.
Hope you were taking notes Monday night.
Just on Sam.
Because some tag teams belong in the WWE.
He's going to say it.
Why are you turning into Dennis Leary over there?
I mean, they must be paying him a billion dollars.
Because there's nothing about another run with WWE that doesn't make sense for these guys.
It just doesn't.
And it's not like I wish ill on TNA.
I need events at his best and he's at his best when he has competition.
But when the competition isn't even trying.
They're acting like short timers.
Yeah.
By the way, your Rangers are for back in the wild card right now.
So they're tied.
But they're saying that they're tied with the Yankees.
But the Yankees have the tiebreaker and the Yankees are for back in their division.
That's what it says.
And so easy three makes a deal with Jeff with Matt Hardy.
Matt gets a shot at the world title.
But if he loses, Jeff becomes his personal assistant.
Didn't we just do this with the Bella Twins and it didn't work?
I hate that.
That.
Angles like that.
Just make me.
I'm not a fan.
I'm not a fan of these.
And I've just got a feeling that this is going to happen.
And they're like, yes, this is good booking.
It's horrible booking.
You do have a new member of the Dollhouse as rebel joins their rankings.
At least they've got a decent looking girl besides Terrell.
Because I find those other two a little creepy.
I just do.
And that like rebel's a former Dollhouse Cowboys cheerleader.
No, I had no idea.
She is.
That is true.
She's pretty good in the ring, too.
She knows the way around the ring a little bit.
And this whoever this is, it used to be Jason Hervey.
It's not anymore.
Whoever it is that's doing this off camera interviewing.
Quit with the authority interrupt you.
We know that's what you're doing.
Just ask the question bro.
Seriously.
And I never thought I'd see the day.
Or I would say somebody's biting Michael Cole's chunk.
Wow, that's a pretty sad day.
During Lashley's match, he hit a move and Pope called it classic Lashley.
Really, really, really, really.
And by the way, remember last week when I talked about the Jared thing?
How he's going to pull a fish off?
Oh yes, you have in this week.
Called it.
Really?
Yeah, it turns out the people that attacked the bully ray and everybody else was actually at Karen's
Karen's brain child.
Because she did it for Jeff.
And then Jeff turned and then it turned into.
Jeff W's now invading TNA.
Oh, yeah, that's a thing.
Oh, by the way, Stings opening Roth tomorrow night.
So he's on the opening segment.
But what's weird is when they pulled the curtain off of him.
Like some of his makeup had already kind of rubbed off.
Get hot under that curtain.
Probably sweat.
I guess it did.
I don't know.
Think about all those lights and you're underneath the tarp.
You're going to sweat.
Let NXT take over is going to be in London in December.
So they're expanding the brand, brother.
They sold out Brooklyn.
That Brooklyn showed last Saturday night the night before.
Sorry, sorry.
So how much land?
They sold it out.
NXT is becoming a thing.
And it's becoming a thing quickly.
What amazes me is that they're going to wind up outclassing the parent brand.
They already are.
I mean, they already are.
I mean, outselling outclassing.
And H is laughing hysterically.
Because he had a lot of detractors.
People were like NXT and you just stay in Orlando and just leave it where it is.
And I've said all along.
Make it its own brand.
Let it do its own thing.
And it's working.
It's taken off like a rocket.
And when you've got a guy with a mind for the business like Triple H.
Right now in this business, you're not going to find a lot of people that have the mind for the business like he has.
He just has this knack for it.
And since Vince has kind of taken the cuffs off him a little bit.
He's making that thing work.
He showed up for the finale of tough enough.
He was the one that presented them with the contract.
Didn't it?
No.
Oh, speaking of Vince, it was his 70th birthday last Monday.
And they was 70.
They ribbed him in the ring.
70 said, I know him about to get in trouble for this.
But my dad's in the back and it's his birthday.
So we're all going to sing happy birthday to him.
And H is like, you know he's back there right now.
Just fuban.
Way to go, honey.
You're going to tick off your dad.
But happy birthday, Vince.
God bless you, sir.
All right.
Little a couple of smack down notes.
I really feel bad for what kings become.
He's just become a yuck monkey.
He hurts me.
And by the way, Booker T joining the broadcast team this week.
On this back down.
I don't know who he's replacing.
I don't know if he's replacing us so or King.
But can we treat lawler better than this, please.
Please.
He cheeryed lawler.
It's a whole famer.
Guys within this business longer than you and I both have been alive.
They've been treating him like a schmuck for far,
I know.
It's just, I love Jerry Lawler.
And just stop this, please.
And you know what?
I'm going to admit it.
Rawland's does talk a lot.
But man, that dude can kind of provo.
He knows exactly what buttons to push.
And he mashes them into the ground.
That kid can cut a promo.
They may need to limit his time just a little bit.
But I thought it was great.
I thought his promo's lately have been spot on and they've been great.
That's, that's my biggest problem with him is that I think they,
they let him, they let him, they give him too much free reign for too long.
It just goes on forever.
All right, anything.
Oh, we covered the Booker T thing.
I'm not sure what's going on here.
Let's see if I can go somewhere else.
Anything else you want to add for a move on to movie talk?
No.
No.
No.
I'm kind of anxious to get the movie talk anyway.
All right.
Trying to figure out.
Box up as Bojo is not updating the weekend number yet.
I don't know what's going on.
So let me see if I can go here and see what it tells me.
Okay.
No, that's just, let's see if it will give me a expanded view.
Here we go.
How to go to a different place to find it.
All right.
Out of the top 10 this week, fantastic four.
A mercy killing.
We're starting there.
They were at 10 last week.
$1.7 million, four weeks, 52.6 million dollars.
I'm very saddened by this.
American ultra dropped from 6 to 12 this week.
$2.8 million, 2 weeks, 10.4 million, 28 million dollar budget.
Minions drops from 9 to 11.
Just under $3 million, eight weeks,
$324.8 million, 74 million dollar budget.
It has crossed the $1 billion mark worldwide.
And congrats to Minions.
So, and starting in 10th place,
Antman drops from 8 to 10 this week,
$3 million, $7 weeks,
169.2 million dollars on a $130 million budget.
So another win for Marvel Disney.
To the surprise of no one.
Jurassic World pops back into the top 10
because it got re-released in IMAX this weekend.
At the ninth place, spot 3.1 million dollars.
For 12 weeks, $643.1 million dollars.
It has over quadrupled its budget.
Dropping from 7 to 8 this week is the gift.
A movie that kind of creeps me out.
Yeah, I'm not really into that kind of thing.
$3.2 million dollars,
$4 weeks, $35.4, let's say, $36 million,
$5 million dollar budget.
$4.5 of that went to Jason Bayman.
Hitman Asian 47 drops from 4 to 7 this week.
$3.9 million dollars,
$2 weeks, $15.3 million dollars on a $35 million budget.
Let's say I finally went back and watched the first one.
No, you didn't.
That was a mess.
47 was 20 times better.
And the same screenwriter.
How did they go?
Let's give this guy another crack at it.
How did that work?
I don't know.
An elephant wasn't as bad as I thought he was going to be.
But that script was a mess.
The script was a mess.
But absolute mess.
Just saying.
Man from Uncle drops from 5 to 6 this week,
$4.4 million dollars,
$3 weeks,
$34.1 million dollars,
$75 million dollars budget.
Sir,
Man from Uncle,
not doing it.
Sinister 2 drops from 3 to 5,
$4.7 million dollars,
$2 weeks,
$18.5 million dollars on a $10 million budget.
Day viewing in fourth place this week is the,
$10 million dollars.
Oh, and Wilson action star vehicle.
No escape.
Want to know what we thought subscribe on iTunes.
$8.3 million dollars,
one week total of 10.4 because it opened on Wednesday.
Dropping from silver to bronze this week,
Mission Impossible Rogue Nation,
$8.3 million dollars,
$5 weeks,
$170.4 million dollars on a $150 million budget.
Day viewing in the silver medal this week.
Is a faith-based film called War Room.
This is getting all kinds of pub.
Wow.
$11 million dollars on a $3 million budget.
That's not bad.
Averageing almost $10,000 a screen, sir.
That's impressive.
Exactly.
And winning for the third straight week,
straight out of Compton,
another 13.3 million dollars,
$3 weeks,
$134.1 million dollars.
That budget of this was?
Take a guess.
17,
28.
Congratulations Universal.
I think Universal broke the,
they broke a milestone box office record last week for them for the year.
Not a milestone record,
but just a milestone that I can borrow was.
But yeah,
they're probably the most successful studio of the summer.
And straight into Compton added 117 theaters this weekend.
So the demand is still there.
There's no way they predicted that.
There's no way they predicted this film to be that slow.
Well, the rumor is it has opened the door for a run DMC biopic,
which I'm very interested in as well.
Yeah.
And apparently there are talks for a Wu Tang biopic as well.
But that's going to be like 14 hours long.
It's going to take you four to two hours to get through the cat.
Well played sir.
Very well played.
Who was it that said,
what point they were in the Wu Tang clan?
That was a Stuart Scott.
One of the greatest quotes ever.
You know,
congratulations to those kids.
I'm just saying.
Who Wu Tang or into two,
to Universal for doing the film and for the cast and crew of that.
That was a gutsy move because I'm sure it was.
They were rolling dice on that thing.
Absolutely.
Absolutely sir.
All right.
Let's get into some headlines.
Vin Diesel has confirmed that the triple X sequel will start
filming in December.
Have they waited too long?
I'll put it to you this way.
I had to think about whether I've actually seen it or not.
I've seen the first one.
I don't think I've seen the second one with the ice cube.
I know I haven't because I didn't see a reason to.
I can neither confirm nor deny that I've seen the second one.
I could tell you right now.
I haven't because it was just the first one.
Do you remember?
Wouldn't it right after fast a furious because that's why he wasn't in.
Or was it?
Right after two which it might have been after two because he was in the first two of them, right?
I'm I'm looking at it because that's because I want to say that the third one was
Tokyo drift 2002 was triple X.
Two fast two furious was 2003.
So yeah, I don't see him listed just off hand.
I forgot Devon Aoki was in that.
Meow from, yeah from Cincinnati.
But he says that the sequel is going to be filming.
I don't think the blue maybe off the road.
He better hope this last witch hunter makes a billion dollars because they've already
green with the sequel.
And I'm very mixed on the trailer.
I haven't seen it yet.
I go maybe.
Like I don't hate it, but I'm not like, oh, I got to see this.
By the way, fast and furious getting it's own multi-emotion.
A mercenary ride at Universal.
That doesn't shock me either.
With the stars will be involved in the ride.
So probably going to make it like test track, I don't cut.
All right, let's get into superhero headlines of the week.
A Leah say do is your female lead for Gambit.
Do we know her from anything?
I'm pulling it up right now.
Of course she's French.
She was in.
She's going to be inspector.
Okay.
I think she's the girl inspector.
She's in place Madeline Swan.
She was in.
She's going to be Belle in the new beauty in the beast.
Wow, this girl's really making an effort.
She was in Grand Budapest Hotel.
Blue is the warmest color.
Let's see if there's anything else.
Wait a minute, I thought.
What's your name from Harry Potter was going to play Belle?
This is 2014.
I'm sorry.
This was done in France.
We don't blame her for that.
But Vincent Cassell played the prince in that version.
So.
Who is he?
Vincent Cassell.
Yeah.
Black Swan.
I know the name.
The new movie, Child 44, which I find really creepy.
Let's see what you would know him from.
He was Thomas Lee Roy in Black Swan.
Let's see Eastern promises, which is a really good film.
Very underrated.
He was in Oceans 12.
Yeah, I've never seen any of those.
Brotherhood of the wolf.
Have you ever seen any of the Oceans films?
I've seen Brotherhood of the wolf.
Have you ever seen any of the Oceans films?
No.
Go watch the original first.
The original Oceans 11 is so great.
And.
Are you talking the rat pack I'm assuming?
Yeah, that's not even the right song garden song.
I will leave this for here for now.
I was wondering what you were playing.
I should need to pull something up for this next song because I.
Disney may have gone to the well more than one time that they should have.
They're doing another.
One of their attractions as a movie.
And so you've got doing jungle crews as a movie.
It's going to be a period piece in the vein of the African queen.
Okay.
And you know how sometimes I say it's okay to say no to a movie.
Right?
This guy didn't.
Oh, Rocky.
He's doing it.
He's doing it.
He's going to get him some of that Disney money.
But you know what a jungle crews is not.
I wish that he would be they would make him part of the Marvel franchise.
But since he's already been pretty much.
Locked in and signed as black Adam.
I don't think that's ever going to happen.
Oh, you never know, sir.
So I want you to take a deep breath before we talk about this next.
Next deal.
Because I'm going to take a deep breath.
Apparently.
There has been a super ultra mega secret screening at Warner Brothers of that man.
Be super man.
Yeah, a couple weeks ago that got a standing ovation.
Uh-huh.
And immediately afterwards, Warner Brothers said,
Man of steel too is on indefinite hold.
We're doing three more Batman films with that.
Geez.
Don't screw this up.
I'm not saying that kind of put in the.
But now bear in mind though.
You are talking about from what I read.
Because this this headlines at least a couple weeks old.
Yeah.
Uh-huh.
That they were screening it for studio execs.
Not casual fans, not die hard fans.
But that means you're still going to get that crossover audience though.
That's what I'm saying.
And that crossover audience is just as important as the fanboys.
Because there are money spends too.
Yeah.
And I haven't seen anything in these trailers even though I've heard the detractors.
There's nothing I've seen in these trailers that has not made me want to see this film.
This is true.
That I cannot debate you on.
I know people have have had their issues with it.
Don't care.
Yeah.
This is coming from a Batman fanatic.
I am dying to see this movie.
This is coming from two Batman fanatics.
And I worry that it's coming out in March a little bit.
I still don't understand that.
I just I can't help but think there's something to this.
Now, I really don't understand why you're opening this and suicide is quite so far apart.
Yeah, me either.
But by the way, and I'll just go ahead and do this now.
That uh, that wrapped principal photography.
Yeah.
Yeah.
That was quick.
So.
Well, as much footage as they showed it, Comic Con doesn't surprise me.
There can have been much left.
It's true.
But I'm ready.
I'm sorry.
One past ready.
I think we passed ready about six months ago.
And I have faith in Snyder.
I just do.
I do too.
I know people want to call him the JJ Abrams of comic book films.
All right.
Other superhero news apparently the new blade film may be about his daughter.
Does this interest you at all?
Who's the mother?
They haven't said they're just saying that they're they're looking into this being blades daughter.
Well, we've already had this show a lack of faith in snipes.
Or does this just show them wanting to go any different direction?
Maybe just want to go in a different direction.
But I'm like.
We already did this with Whistler's daughter in Blade Trinity.
So.
I'll just say I always sing a blade train.
I just think of that shot of her fire in the arrow through the camera.
I don't know.
I just all I can think of is.
Ronald Ryan Reynolds.
Yeah.
Ryan Reynolds.
Ryan to park her pussy.
Your new villain has been cast for Dr. Strange.
He is Mads Mikkelson.
Okay.
The bad guy from casino royale.
I'm in.
He was also in.
I want to say he was in the Rocks Hercules.
And I know he wasn't class.
He plays Hannibal.
Yes.
On the TV series.
Yes, he does.
I'm looking.
He was in Rianna's video short for B better have my money.
I'm not seeing him involved in the in the in the in the in the deal.
He was Draco in Clash the Titans.
Yeah.
Yeah.
He was also a roach fort.
And the last version of the three Musketeers.
That credit.
Yeah.
Have you seen the picture of fast bender in his assassins?
Yes.
Yes.
And let's get an opinion from you because you are our video game person.
Oh, I'm in.
I thought it looks pretty cool.
When they announced that he was playing.
I'm assuming that look on his face.
That's.
God.
This just got real.
That's.
It's the always had that chip on his shoulder look.
Like, please mess with me.
I dare you.
And it's going to be set within existing continuity.
It's what they're saying.
With an existing continuity.
I'm thinking they're probably going back to the first game.
Well, I mean, because existing continuity the last game.
Existing continuity would be the French Revolution.
I'm something that probably going back to the first game.
That's what I'm saying.
But that's such a vague explanation.
I was existing continuity because there's several existing.
Right.
So that's all they're saying.
They're not saying which one.
But I'm assuming they're going back and doing anything.
Yeah.
I'm assuming that means that they're going to.
He's going to portray an assassin that's already been portrayed in the games.
He's not going to be portraying a new assassin that they haven't shown in the games yet.
So I'm hoping it's at CO.
I'm hoping it's.
He's playing at the auditorium.
That's what I'm hoping to.
That's what this have to see.
That's the one that's been around the longest.
All right.
We talked about suicide.
It's quite moving on.
Amy Schumer and Jennifer Lawrence will be doing a film.
Let's go in on in here.
Well, computers are freaking out.
Oh, I did the wrong thing there.
Amy Schumer Jennifer Lawrence co-riding and starring in a sister vehicle.
Does this do anything for you?
Yeah.
Absolutely.
I like both of them.
So I'm a huge fan of both of those.
That's going on.
Oh, Ridley Scott says that prometius 2 will be his next film.
Just haven't made more sense than that.
What is this?
Oh, I'm a pig.
I picked a wrong song.
It's okay.
We'll just move on.
Lions date is developing borderlands.
Really?
Yes.
I know you're a fan of this video game franchise.
It's locally based.
So there is that.
That's that's that's right for video game material, I think.
And the Richard prior biopic.
Biopic cast has been set.
We talked earlier a few weeks ago that Mike Eps will be playing Richard prior.
Yeah.
And that interview this week.
Wow.
Kate Hudson is going to play his wife.
Which one?
Jennifer.
Okay.
I'll say yeah.
Like six.
So you also have Oprah's going to play his grandmother that own the brothel.
Wow.
And Eddie Murphy's going to play his uncle.
That is.
That's freaky.
Mucher what you just did.
I think by punching the desk.
I think you put everything back in whack on my computer.
Oh, good.
Just for a moment.
It's social.
It's still recording.
So we'll just hope everything comes out.
Okay.
So DVD and blue right new releases.
We're getting kind of thin.
It's just a bunch of TV this week.
It's really weird.
So, but moving new releases and a couple of movies we're going to be screening this week
for you and have up an iTunes for you later in the week.
I'll walk in the woods.
This is the new Robert Redford Nick Nolty film based on a true story.
And I said, buck.
I can't watch one of this.
But Robert Redford's character decides he's as part of this.
He goes to his buddy's funeral and he wants to live life to the full of us.
So he's going to hike the App late in trail.
All 200 miles of it.
And Nick Nolty is an old friend of his.
It comes along.
The transporter refueled.
I watched all three transporter movies yesterday to get ready for this.
Didn't watch the TV series.
There's 24 episodes.
There's no one to get through all of this.
It's not even.
No, there was a TV series until you moved.
Two seasons on TNT.
I remember.
But it's the same character.
Third actor to play him.
So I don't know if the inspector is going to be in this one or not.
So.
Also break points.
I don't know if you've seen this.
They can pull us up.
Not point break.
No break points.
Break points.
Give you the give me the running down on this.
Jeremy Sisto is in this.
Oh, I watched his name.
JJ on a Jamison.
JJ 7.
JJ 7 is in this.
Jeremy Sisto is an aging tennis player who.
Who ends up teaming up with his brother.
To try to get back into the tennis game.
trailer looks kind of funny.
Dragon Blade.
We've talked about this.
It's some kind of existing property.
That's about feudal Japan.
And when I think fuel Japan, I think John Cusack.
Oh, that's right.
Okay.
I saw that and went.
What?
Watch this trailer.
And you're just.
You're going to do the same thing.
I did.
You're like, did I miss something here?
Because this looks weird.
Also this week a movie called Dirty Weekend.
Matthew Broadrick Alice Eve are in this thing.
Colleagues less and Natalie are delayed in the Albuquerque airport.
Restless irritated and unable to stay on the service workers.
He needs it every turn.
Less heads downtown.
Natalie refuses to leave his side and discovers that his supposedly.
Ameless wandering has more of a point than he's going to admit.
Natalie can still secrets up her own.
Though neither can keep them quiet for long.
A report grows between this unlikely pair.
And they soon search out a spark of excitement in this.
Unlikely of low cows.
Like him.
Like her.
So I'm good.
Also before we go.
That's actually a name of the film when I can't read a wrap up just yet.
Chris Evans and Alice Eve.
I'll see a little busy this week.
Wow.
Do you think I'm going to quiet?
Two strangers stuck in Manhattan for the night.
Grow into each other's most trusted confidence in an evening of unexpected adventure
forces them to confront their fears and take control of their lives.
So very similar thing is running through this.
Scott Evans also in this.
Maria Brayman.
And Steve Jobs.
The man in the machine.
This is the documentary.
Okay.
Not the not the fastmen or thing.
Okay.
This is not the.
Sorkin project.
No.
A couple of quick tech corner notes.
First of all.
The TSA wants you to know to leave your batteries in home.
What?
This is an official statement.
They have made.
Apparently there's somebody out there that has been.
They've more than once has been skin care carrying batteries through security.
Oh, for the love of God.
Yep.
And if you are a serious XM person or if you have it available to you, they're doing a free
Listen until Labor Day.
So you can check out.
Yeah, rock.
Okay.
And you will have the same reaction that I do every song.
Oh, really?
No.
No.
No.
No.
So.
There is that.
That's how I'm going to react.
I don't think I want to turn it on.
All right.
So are you ready for this?
Yes.
It is time for the street light is on.
It is time for us to do the list.
And Chad does not have access to the list this week.
No, I do not.
He knows what it is.
He just doesn't know what I'm about to do.
This week's list because the pendulum does swing back to me.
My 10 favorite songs with women's names in them.
We could go in any direction with this.
Number 10.
You with me yet?
No.
I got one of your close friends in a minute.
She probably got sick of it in high school.
It's helped me run.
Oh, oh.
Yeah, she did.
Number nine.
She was sick of this before she.
Okay.
I always think of Cheryl Crow and Hugh Chair when I heard the song.
This song is one of those that I thought was an horribly underrated for him.
Because this song is just awesome.
Michael Jackson's dirty Diana.
Such a huge fan of this song.
I like it, but I've never really loved it.
Really?
Oh, I love this song.
It's done live.
It just, it loses so much.
Does it really?
Because he always, he rushes it.
Oh, does he really does.
He rushes through it.
This song for me just, there's just this dark underground funk to it that I love.
And I don't know that it's been duplicated.
I don't know if anybody's been able to duplicate this feel for a song like this.
It's kind of like his, his black cat but even darker.
Yeah, that's what I was going to compare it to because that usually where the comparisons get drawn between those two.
Was it definitely a departure for him?
Number eight.
I don't know if you know this song or not.
You know who this is?
No idea.
This is train.
I thought they were very first album called Meet Virginia.
Oh, she smokes a pack a day.
Oh, wait, that's me.
But anyway, I love that line.
Great song.
Number seven.
I mean, who doesn't love this song?
Let's be honest.
It's Neil Diamond, first of all.
The diamond.
I'm surprised.
Carrie.
She was jealous.
She was jealous.
How is karaoke that made you sick of this song?
Because this song's always going to be fun to me.
Like we did the list of songs that karaoke is ruined for me.
This song is just fun.
It's, it's, it's, it's a drinking song.
It's a bar song.
I mean, how many beers are in the air right now?
You know what I mean?
It's just, and on, you know, I mean, he's Neil Diamond fan.
I really didn't know that.
I love Neil Diamond.
I love Neil Diamond.
Now, I wouldn't say, like, I could go to a concert and know every song.
But I know the hits.
I might know too.
Love forever, please.
Number six.
A song that every guy tried to sing in the 80s.
And nobody could.
But one man.
Debate me.
I said to stay that way.
We typically come Zen Vocally.
Tell him about his teeth, Terry.
You don't write you should have been.
For those of y'all that don't have the benefit of a webcam on Rob.
He's throwing devil horns in the air.
He's doing it again.
I love this song.
Debate me.
Debate you're throwing devil horns in the air during a Steve Perry song.
But Debate me the greatest of this song.
It's a great song, but I don't know if I go devil.
Remember the name is album?
Street Talk.
Because when I think Steve Perry.
He's from this, because he's from the streets.
And how wheels off this video was.
I wasn't.
I was going to say that.
I just didn't know how you felt about it.
It's a weird video.
Number five.
And I know this is a band that you're not a huge fan of.
But I love this song.
You know this song?
Oh, this was huge in the 80s.
I just don't know the intro.
I find out the chorus.
But I don't just don't.
I don't recognize the intro.
This is one of those great power ballads.
That if you knew a girl with this name.
Like, you just write this in a note.
I'm on this play for a second.
Oh, this is.
Yes, it is.
You better believe it is, sir.
I love this song.
At a neighbor across the street for me named Carrie and I asked her.
What she thought she said, I hate that freaking song.
What's because when you have a song with your name in it,
people are going to do it to y'all of time.
Did they write that about you?
What do you think?
I do like, yeah, they did.
What?
Sure, it's illegal because I'm in high school.
Whatever.
She was at high school by that.
Oh, what's she okay?
Now, we have a tie for number four.
Because it's two songs and it's a different spelling of the name.
So I had to kind of give it a tie.
And I have a friend who spells her name this way.
And I asked her which ones wore her out more.
And it's going to be the former over the ladder, okay?
Okay.
So first part of the tie for number four.
Wow, I can't believe you haven't clicked this yet.
Love this song.
Oh, yeah.
And she said she liked this one less.
My, I have a friend named Sarah who lives in Iowa.
She has literally my most tenured friend.
We've known each other since we were infants.
And she says, I was with the song until I get to the end of the lead.
That last part of the list.
No time is a good time for Sarah.
But when you leave that last word off.
Okay.
Hey.
Hey.
What's you trying to do?
Hey.
What you trying to say.
Just that storms are brewing in your eyes.
What a great lyric.
Now, sure, play this for them.
And they're original lineup.
And they punch you in the face.
Because they became everything they described.
But I like the starships.
This is the only song that there's.
I really like really.
I like a lot of their stuff.
Now, of course, you know, if we're going to do this when we have to do the other one.
You know what I'm going with this?
I know where you better be going.
And, you know, this is on a fixed fixed rough.
Yuck, rock.
I am, I am pleased that you went with this version too.
You don't want the other version?
Huh?
You don't want the other version?
It's not that I don't like it.
I'm just glad that you went with this version.
Where's your original?
Yeah.
But I just figured maybe you'd go with the voice demand version.
Oh, no.
I, I, that's not the one I'm thinking of.
I'm thinking of this one.
Do you not heard this one?
This version of it?
Yeah, who is this?
After seven.
Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes.
I love this version of it.
Yeah, well, I love after seven.
And, you know, being there, all of us is an R&B group at heart anyways.
What makes sense?
Yeah.
Number three.
Welcome on, sir.
See, this is middle of the road stuff.
I don't pick up on the middle of the road stuff quickly.
The original lead singer this group still out there getting it done on his own and has been for about 30 years.
You think you belong to me.
I never tried to make you with me yet.
Nope.
Let you see one thing for yourself.
But now you're off with someone else.
And I'm alone.
I knew that whenever you gave me no R&B,
I knew you were just being cruel.
I knew you were going to go on.
Here comes.
Here comes.
Ready?
Here we go.
Hey me.
What you want to do?
Can I know this one?
You're pretty?
Not very well.
Originally singer Vince Gil.
Really?
Hmm.
See, again, you're going real mad.
You don't know this one?
I know of it, but I love this one.
There's no way I would have picked up on it like instantly.
Number two.
You mentioned their name earlier in the show.
And at the behest of making some people very, very mad,
probably one of my top two if not top three Boston songs ever.
I did make a mistake of singing this on karaoke one night.
One of the guys in the bar had just broken up with a girl with this name.
That went well.
Oh.
So I do.
Believe it or not.
That always about you.
Boston's Amanda.
Oh.
This I like.
That part of it gets real high in the bridge.
It's a little, little wonky for me.
But we're like, what was I thinking?
No way, I love you.
Oh, such a great song.
And where did this band form?
And it's just something they just did on the side that became a thing.
When you hear where they were, it would make sense.
They made it MIT.
And they were just like, let's just do a band thing.
They were going to do two albums and be done.
That was that was the plan.
Because they were MIT students.
Didn't even need this.
No.
And this was the third album.
This was called third stage.
Number one.
If you know anything about me and karaoke and someone who's going to be on this show,
hopefully in about four episodes.
Brother.
Is he really?
He told me.
Episode 316.
He said he has to be on episode 316.
Okay.
You've ever been in the presence of barbed wire and I at the same time in a karaoke bar.
This song has happened more than once.
How many of you should have saved this list for them then?
And well, I'll tell you what.
When you go to their greatest hits, you don't realize how many of their songs you know.
Because they're in heavy rotation on Yacht Rock 2.
It's not like you've got to go like a deep tracks either.
No, you don't.
I mean, it's, I, if somebody like me, I didn't realize how much of their stuff I knew.
Because they're just that good.
And how involved members of this band were in other people's current.
Oh, absolutely.
Some of the most talented musicians on the planet.
Because if I'm not mistaken, I want a couple of them involved in thriller.
I wouldn't surprise.
I know a precarious.
He did, he did some of the guitar work.
I want to say he did part of beat it.
He did the part of beat it that Eddie didn't do.
Right.
Yeah.
Okay.
He was also, that just a, not just a musician, but a writer.
Probably.
Oh, yeah.
A lot of those guys were geniuses.
And also, remember, these guys also went the route of Queen on Flash Gordon and took the Dune soundtrack.
That's right.
No, that was Tangerine Dream.
I thought, no, that was Toto.
I wasn't.
That was Tangerine Dream did legend.
Okay.
Anything that you want to add is any, any, any, I don't remember.
I probably should have been thinking about this the whole time I was listening to the list.
So wrapped up and listening to the list.
I didn't think of any names.
Like, I'm sure, like, as soon as the show was over with it,
I'd be like, oh, yeah.
This one.
Oh, yeah.
That one.
That's it.
Another one of my favorite Toto songs.
I think I've got to have it in here.
I hope I haven't.
Because sometimes I get stuff on iTunes on one computer.
And I forget about it on the other one.
One of my favorite songs that there's that I forget was them.
Is this one?
Give it a minute.
Because you're going to give it a second.
It can really kick in.
They mentioned on Bob and Tom about a month ago.
I was like, oh, I forgot that was them.
There's also one heavy rotation on XM, Series XM, 31, Yacht Rock.
99.
Is this not an amazing song?
Yeah.
I've always loved it.
Like, they're, they're Hickelago so deep.
And I remember there, uh, before, uh, what is 99.5 now?
The wolf.
Okay.
Back in the day, whenever this song hit, the, it was on the appropriate format.
This song, uh, on, on, on that station.
So they kind of made it like their unofficial theme song.
Uh, about the only two that I would add off the top of my head.
Now I'm thinking about it.
Okay.
Is another Michael Jackson song.
Off a thriller.
Billie Jean.
Oh, yeah.
That's good one.
And the first one that popped into my head.
Of course, diverting to my leader.
Right.
Anastasia.
Oh, it's good song.
It's good song.
I just, I had a lot of fun writing this list.
And I went on the kit for like two days, right?
I've got like six or seven lists deep right now.
I just went on a kick a few weeks ago.
Just write and stuff out.
And I've got some really good stuff coming up.
Stevie Ray's Lini.
Mm.
Um.
God.
You want to cheat and say seals with violet.
No.
I know a set of on that.
No.
It's not a girls name that you wrote it about, but that's a great song.
Let's do the plugs.
