it is 701 on the East Coast. It is 401 on the West Coast. It is the 31st of
January and the year of our Lord 2016 season 6 episode 26 chronologically 309 times
this voice has welcomed you to the Club House podcast. Thank you for joining us
no matter how you are doing so, whether you are live in our chat room, whether
you are listening on our archive, or whether you subscribe on iTunes. We're just
glad you're here. My name is Rob and I am ready for a new month tomorrow.
Joining me across the desk is he tends to do each and every week is my co-host.
It is a man who did a little physical labor helping a brother out yesterday along with
this cousin. He is chat, welcome sir. Happy to do so, my friend. Anything to keep the
big brother friends right on the big bad wolf away from the door. Also joining us, a surprise
last minute guest called in the lefty called the audible. Is the official Justin
Simmer Lake of this show? Who we were trying to get to do the show last week, but
she wasn't really feeling it. She was a little sleepy, but she's back. She's rip-roaring. She's
ready to go. She is Charlotte Parker. Hello, my love. Hi, it's me. Welcome back. It was so glad to hear.
I didn't take a nap. That's true. Oh good, good. You missed a heck of a rumble. You really did.
I know. We're going to talk about that just a little bit later, but right now I'm
getting the corrections from last week's show. We have a couple. Dawn thought Mr. Anderson was part
of Bullet Club. He is not, it is a Carl Anderson. Okay, from ROH and New Japan. Rust is in the chat room.
It's been a couple of, a little bit of the last couple of days. Rust sent me a very nice holiday
card. You're supposed to be getting one sometime soon as well. He made his little custom CDs.
He's jamming a lot of that in the car, the last couple of days. There's some interesting
left turns in there on me. Haven't heard one song that they me go. Everyone was like,
I like that song. So he's going to great job. Also, Dawn said that Raid Mysterio went into the
rumble number one. He actually went in in the second slot, but he still has the record for
longest time spent in the rumble. So there's that. This will also be, if I'm not mistaken,
the last, if not the next two last. It's actually the next to last show that we will be NASCAR free.
Because we are three weeks away from Daytona and it all begins again. And next week, we're
our taking the week off so we can enjoy the the the bowl of super. So we don't get sued by the NFL.
The big game at the end of the, oh no, and we get sued by XF. Yeah, so I'll have wait. They're not around
anymore. So we want you to go enjoy the big game as well. And then there's a 50, 50 shot
the week after that because it is Valentine's Day. And we need to make sure that our respective
spouses, whether they want to observe that day or maybe handle at the day before we're not sure.
So keep it on our social media and we will let you know because in the week after that, it's
fascinating. They're caught. So we got to get ready for that. Let us start with the aforementioned NFL.
Great game while we were on the air. We're right before we went on the air anyway.
With the Denver Broncos in the New England Patriots. Yes. And then the prime time gave
you want to call that a game you're using the term very loosely as Denver
apparently just called Arizona and told them they didn't have to come by. Russ asks you to PMU his address,
please. Okay. Chad is having some problems. He can't always see in the chat room. So sometimes I have to
relate to him. I'm going to do on Facebook, Russ. Current, that's what he's saying. PMM.
Oh, I thought he meant PMM in the chat room. No, I don't think you can do that, can you?
You, I think you can. I don't know. Yeah, I thought this way or not. Right now the line is
sitting at five. Carolina minus five. I don't know. That's good to have to move up.
Because as much as I want to see, because I don't know if you saw this story last week, but apparently the
NFL NFL films people. You know these people. Those guys caught a patent saying to bell
a check that it was his last rodeo. Really? He just said it's been fun. It's been enjoyable.
I just don't know that they can be Carolina. Carolina is steam rolling. Everybody.
And Russ going out town next weekend, we definitely want to have you give you some safe travel
sir. I really want the Broncos to win, but I just I can't in good conscience say they're going to win.
I mean, they might have a shot at it. Can't cam is your MVP because I can't name you five other
people on that team. And they lost one game all year long. I'm not a fan of the dude. It's been
well documented on this show, but I can't tell you that he's not going to
to get the MVP much less steam roll this game. This Saturday night though, by the way, there will be
NFL awards show where they will be announcing who the whole of fame class will be for this year.
So get ready for that. And there's the pro ball today, but anyway,
well, that's better. I just, uh, the pro ball. The pro ball has actually been P.O.I on this thing at
least once. I can't bring myself to spend quality television time with the pro ball. Can't do it.
Even if I wanted to, couldn't do it. I didn't even know there was a pro ball until I found
the dude you what was selected to the pro ball because I followed him obviously.
But he didn't fly to Hawaii though, didn't he? No, he didn't. Is that all a boot?
I'm going to stay here and get set up for to nurse the groin injury.
There she is, ladies and gentlemen, when you don't have Doc, you have Charlotte. It's right.
Almost had him on the show tonight, but he was, uh, he just got back from from Canada, so it's still
shaking Canadian. Oh, and his lady friend's been a little under the weather. So he said that
Amy was feeling better today, so we're glad to hear that. But Doc said if she wasn't, you know,
she was still quarantined, we would have had our romchedine update. Those were his words, not mine.
So, so we hope you guys enjoy the game next week. Of course, you know, the powerhouse Super Bowl
halftime show of Coldplay. I've heard there will be a Beyonce presence as well. Oh, God.
Because when you think Coldplay, why wouldn't you put Beyonce with it? Because we need more memes.
Yeah. Or we need more of my overed-off parodies. Okay, true. All right, let us move on and do
a little TV talk. One of Doc's new favorite shows got renewed already after one episode aired.
Showtime has renewed billions. It looks good. It's got the Damian dude from a
homeland and Paul G. Amadi. But. Oh, from band of brothers. Yes, that Jim.
And Doc says it's amazing. And you know when Don gets his claws into a TV show, he's not letting it go.
Yeah, that's true. And you know, and I admire that about him. He's got that stick to a divinist.
But yeah, he says it's great. It's already been renewed. Also, Netflix has given House of
Cards Season 5, which I really want to get caught up on this show. But man, time is not my friend.
It's on my list, but I'm still emotionally involved with Sun's Vain Archie.
Okay, I finished it. I have, but I'm still. It's still revert.
But you know, if it makes you feel any better, if I'm not mistaken, the last episode I showed
is still on my DVR because my wife won't let it go. Yeah. So it was a yeah.
Is that right, dear? She can't hear how that she was coming out of the hallway.
But I started. Did you ever erase the last episode of Sun's Vain Archie or do we still have it?
Oh, you had to. You had to. It forced you to. Oh, I think we were getting too close.
To having a full DVR, one point, which we're doing fine. No, I think we're to like 40% now. That's good.
So, you know, I got a lot of movies. I got to watch on my next vacation in a couple of weeks.
I understand you really, really understand when it ended, it was very, yeah, I'm most
at the closest we've ever had to have in my wife's house. I was just about to say, we are flirting
with her actually being a part of the show. But you know, I was the same way with the finale of
Smallville. I had on my DVR for like two, three years and I just, I'm not like that. If like
I want that bad, I'm just going to get it on blue right. Oh, it's just the final shot of it.
And we have to talk about it. Remind me when we get to movie talk. We have to talk about two
Saturdays ago. Okay, because that happened after we were off air and nobody knew. So, okay.
All right. You did see that we are getting a agents of shield spinoff, correct? You told me we were.
It's called Marvel's Most Wanted. It will have a mocking bird currently played by Adrian
Policki and Lance Hunter played by Nick blood, who are both on agents of shield. Delroy Lindo
is going to join that cast. That's some greatness playing Dominic Fortune. Which I, that's a
great character in the Marvel universe. I'm a fan. He's one of those characters that's just kind of
been been in stuff here and there. Marvel's most wanted. Let's name it this song. It's called
I want you. Okay. Stay with me, America. I know the battle cat has joined us.
I'm going to make sure that he gets his opinions in. No one gets it or alive. No Jesse.
I'm going to do some little bit. Some little different. Oh, that's a good song though.
I love this song. It's a great song. I do do. I just did. Any song that says a chick-a-chair
recola. I'm in. You guys had a good hot six months, you know. They had to like almost overplayed
slow song of 1997. But yeah. Agents of shield is just that showed. Just what I'm ready to give
up on it. They do something cool and they suck me back in. I like where agent Carter's going this season.
It's not, I kind of like season one better. But, but it this thing just kicked off. Well,
worth three episodes. Four episodes in. Did I do Carter? Remember there was a two-hour
season premiere and then they've done two episodes. Oh, I thought that they had like just started
like a week ago. Well, although I do, I like her interactions with Jarvis. They had a minor
spoilers if you haven't seen it, but they have a storyline where there's a guy that's sucked into
this zero matter, which is basically the pieces of the big monolith on agents of shield. Okay.
And they find out that he's just kind of, he's there but he's kind of invisible so they come
up with this spray that's going to see him. And at one point Jarvis says, I would hate to be in
in unfaced voice. Well played, sir. Really. Well played. Also liked on legends of tomorrow. We played
the second part of the pilot. Kind of like who showed up in the little auction there to
beginning tying it all to, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I'm ready for that. I'm ready for that story line
to get back on track on Arrow 2. How a full of city referred to him as the evil and a
literal of the name, appropriate, appropriately and a literal of the name, Damian Dark.
She continues to be the beacon of light on that show. And in news that Chad found out yesterday,
we have a return coming to Gotham. And uh,
didn't she wasn't she in fatic about saying that fish mooney was not going to be back?
Yeah, but I'm considering the source here. She's lost all credit bills there with me anyway.
Like, do, why do we need this? We don't. We have for no reason just to show up and give thing
one hell is probably the only reason that is happening. And the picture that they have up of
her, she looks ridiculous even more so than she ever did. The spikes in the side of her head.
I just, so whatever. And that show's not coming back till February 29th. Even you want to know
how far reaching that this is. My sister was even disgusted by this announcement. I didn't even
know that she watched the show. No idea. She watched the show. Yeah, that was a shocker to me.
Charlotte, any opinions here? No, I'm not watching. So it's not that far reaching that it
isn't disgusted, Charlotte. But she's played by Jayda Pinkett Smith. I don't like her. So we're out.
Yeah, I like her less and less every day. I just, man, that show's got a lot to do in this second
half of season two. They better, they better pull the nose up. I want to say congratulations to
Larry David hosting SNL this week with a band called the 1975. I don't know who they are.
Is it possibly an homage to when they went on the air? No, no, they didn't go on the air in 75.
Did they? Yeah, they did. It was 75. Yeah, yeah, they did. Because it was the 40th anniversary
last year. No, I don't know who that. I've never heard of the band, but they've got to be somebody.
Because you know, there's only been one band in the history of SNL that did not have a contract
before they played on SNL. No, that was counting crows. Why? What happened there?
They didn't have it. They never had a record. They had not had a record contract at that point.
And Lauren Michael saw them in a club in New York. I would like you to do my shirt.
Oh, okay. So they were an unsigned act. Okay. I thought you met a contract with
NBC. Oh, no, no, no. Yeah, I was never an unsigned band. They were the only band in the history of SNL.
Oh, okay, okay. But this is probably one of those bands at the kids at the closing the air.
And I'm going to be honest, a couple of weeks ago the Rhonda Rosy episode was pretty good,
but Selena Gomez made me the one comfortable. I heard there was a lot in my head of going,
you were on Barney! Just creepy. She was in a couple of sketches. It was kind of funny.
But yeah, but her musical performances were the first one was kind of weird. The second one was
really uncomfortable. Because there was, uh, uh, just go, the internet's a thing. Go look it up.
Uh, the 1975 is an alternative British rock band formed in Manchester. Okay. So city or united.
city. Okay. I'm not sure.
All right. Where are we on the run sheets? So we've been very cagey on NBC about celebrity apprentice.
Since somebody got fired. Um, but apparently Arnold is going to be hosting the new celebrity
apprentice. It will not be George Lopez. Good. And Vince Neil will be involved this go around
as well as Matt Eisenman. I'm not sure if you know who this is, Chad. He used a host of show called
Sports Soup. He's, yeah, he's currently on American Ninja Warrior. Very funny man. And
Carney Wilson, which may be that progressive commercial. I love that commercial. It is funny.
I'm not going to lie. Have you seen this one, Chad? Where she, where a flow is talking to her.
And they, I guess she's like a fan or something. And then Carney starts singing. She's like, no, no.
It's pretty funny. Wow. Pretty enjoy. Progress is kind of up in their game with the commercials a little bit.
Yeah. Sprinkles are for winners.
It's my favorite. And for some reason, that all sort of reminds me of you. That also sounds like something
you actually know what it gets me is. Oh, there's, oh, there's a cabin channel. Not for you.
You know, one of my favorite shows on television is the Goldbergs. Oh, yes. They have now
up to their game with a guest star coming up. They, they come back on February the 17th. They're
off for a couple of weeks. This guy joining the cast for an episode.
The heck, stay with me.
Oh, oh, okay. Okay. I know what this is.
This song of all of it for us, this reference lead. It's not lactose. It's milk.
Weirdo Yankevik. Yes, starring as himself on the Goldbergs, they'd be where the 17th
in a thing called a wise man named Al. But take it. He's going to trim back the hair a little
bit and grow the mustache back for the episode. I guess he's gonna. But they never, they never give
it a specific year. It's always it was 1980 something. Yeah, but he, but that's how he looked in the 80s.
Not how he looked. You haven't seen the double dare episode. I haven't seen any episode. I'm
talking to the royal you, not just you, sir. If you haven't seen the double dare episode, go
watch it. There is a gorgeous payoff at the end of it. Which that's show tends to do. You know,
I'm a fan. Yes. I still don't understand why it's not available on bulldozer. It's only available
on DVD. It's the presence only that it's not only available on VHS. Well, that would make sense.
Well, there's a thing called a business model. I don't work with, they're saying. Just as a goose.
And someone has joined the cast of Mr. Robot on USA for season two. That's been kind of
getting a little bit more pub, a little bit more every month. Grace Gummer.
That's an unfortunate last name. She is the daughter of one Merrill Streep. Also played her daughter
in Ricky and the Flash, which is not as bad of a movie as people think it will be.
You can go back and hear our, our review of it. I don't know where it is. That's the find it.
It is an iTunes exclusive. And it was way back. Yeah, I might have never tried to find this because
it's way back. But go check it out. Not a bad flick. I'm sure it's available somewhere on a
cable channel near you now. But she will be joining the cast of Mr. Robot. Which I've heard is an
amazing show. And new, like deep down when I was reading the run sheet. I was like, this song will play.
You think? Also interesting news. We talked about the 24 reboot. Let me call it 24
legacy with no Jack Bauer, which of course made Don's head explode in the studio. But the guy
that played Dr. Dre and straight out of Compton, Corey Hawkins, who was also on the walking
dead. Yes, he was. He will be the new star of 24 legacy. Also Miranda Otto. Oh, from Lord of the Rings,
joining the cast. So, saw Mr. Hawkins last night on the Screen Actors Guild awards.
Speaking of that, congratulations to you. Yeah, you wanted to the run now. I've got it in front of me.
Let's do that a little bit closer to the movie talk. Well, I've got the television winners and
wait, well, you want to finish this finish this thing. Yeah, I'm going to finish this thing. I'm going to
run down real quick. Also, I don't know how you feel about this.
Netflix, we talked earlier about them. They are renewed house of cards. They are bringing back
Gilmore girls and are watching an episode. But they are also next year going to be bringing
stretch armstrong. Yeah, this is a little bit, they've been trying to get off the ground for a while,
apparently Taylor Lawton or was attached to it at some point? No. Yes, he was attached to it at some
point. Yeah, I'm not right there with you. But I don't know that there's no casting, but Netflix
has said they're going to do it in 2017. And also, in news that could not make you happier or you,
I'm sure, there is, we talked a few months ago about how Cartoon Network during the
up front had a poster for a Justice League series, but nobody said what it was going to be.
It was announced this week coming. I believe this fall. It's going to be called Justice League
Action. See what they did there. JLA. Kevin Conroy does return his Batman as God intended it.
The voice of Batman. The, I don't care what anybody said. I agree. Mark Hamill will return as the
Joker again as God intended it. We're assuming that's what he's playing. I would hope that that's
he's playing. James Woods is going to play Lou Thor. He's been in the DC animated universe before
he played Alman in crisis on two words. And Diet Bader who was once Batman on the Raven the Bold
will be playing booster gold. A character that doesn't get enough credit in my opinion. Say what,
if you go listen to fat man on Batman with with the dude that's doing flash and super girl
Simon Kreisberg. Yes. He talks about how one of his original pet projects is he was trying to
get a booster gold series off the ground. And he said, I'm not sure I'm ready to put it away yet.
Well, because he's getting the clap now. Yeah, he really is. He's pretty much going to get the
clap to do whatever he wants before too much longer. All right, sir. Let's talk screen actors.
Y'all the word. Okay. Um, outstanding performance by male actor and a mini-series or that was being
a movie. Um, you want it? Yeah. Oh, okay. Didn't I? No. Uh, uh, the affirmation.
Trave trophy. I have this. I don't know. Uh, the aforementioned Idris Elba as Luther.
Oddly enough, Mark Ryland's also nominated in this category for a show called Cromwell.
Or Wolf Hall as Thomas Cromwell. Okay. Never saw it. Um, outstanding performance by female actor
and a mini-series of television movie Queen Latifa. Bessie is Bessie Smith. Never saw it. Nope. Uh,
and uh, some of the other nominees in this thing, Kristen Wigg was in a show called the
spores before dying, where she played like a torch singer. The clip that they showed are like,
okay, you've got my attention. Uh, outstanding performance by male actor and a drama series,
Kevin Spacey House of cards. Okay. Female actor and a drama series, Viala Davis, how to get
away with murder. That's given a lot of traction. Got nothing. Uh, outstanding performance
by male actor and a comedy series, Jeffrey Tan Bor for Transparent, which he did not win the golden
globe this year. This thing was all over the map. He won it last year and that's what got me
into Amazon Prime was Amazon Prime today, uh, a special because of their win. Uh, outstanding
performance by female actor and a comedy series, Uso Aduba for Orange is a new black. It's
something that's never watched, but if we're great things. Uh, you know that, uh, that was
actually an answer on Jeopardy the other day. Orange is the new black. It was about the, uh,
though, one of the awards show, so it was the Emmys, where it won the, it nominated the first
year for a comedy comedy. Yeah, the second year was nominated for drama. Uh,
outstanding performance by an ensemble in a drama series. Your wife would be happy to be
informed. It's down to Nabi and it's final season. Yeah, they were up against Game of Thrones,
Homeland House of Cards and Madmen, and outstanding performance by an ensemble in a comedy
series, Orange is a new black. I was gonna say friends. No, uh, outstanding performance by
a stunt ensemble in a television series. That is a category in both movies and television on this
show. Game of Thrones, Game of Thrones. Hey, you're all right. Look at me. Up against the black
list, Daredevil homeland and the walking dead. Ooh, Daredevil could have won that too, very easily.
And the, uh, sag life achievement award would went to Keropernet. Very nice.
Present it by Tina Fey and Amy Polar. Very nice. It was a big fan of all three of those
ladies. You would have liked this little segment. But that's all for TV. We'll get back around to it
with, uh, movie talk later. You are listening to the clubhouse podcast live every Sunday,

Not as much as Charlotte is though. She is when she can.
She can do one of my recipes today. Yeah, I don't think anybody's on it.
Speaking of recipes. You saw that. Oh, yes, I found because my one of my projects this year.
I'm going to start doing some of these tasty recipes and I've found the first one. You better start
making a room in your fridge for that thing for that final step. No. Oh, you had to put the fridge.
Let's just put it in the microwave and turn the microwave on. You had to put it in a, well, I mean,
you got to put it in a something where you could stack some weight on top of it to press it down.
Well, talk about it after the show. Yeah, this thing I'm saying. I want anything that you're going to
cook in a microwave. No, you don't cook it. It's got to trust me. Just roll with me. We'll talk about later.
Let us move on. Do little P.O.I. P.O.I. since for person of interest. It is a segment on this show
where we take a person or an entity and we debate their greatness or lack thereof. It is Chad's turn this week.
Several weeks ago, you and I attended a screening of a film that we were kind of apprehensive about.
Which we've been known to do called concussion. Yes, we did. I was there. And the topic of this
December 21st, if I'm not mistaken, was it? Was it Chris? I'm Monday before Chris.
And it shed a little light on a
condition called and I hope I don't miss this of chronic traumatic and cephalopathy. Thank you.
You're at least in the ballpark. Oh, my answer. Thank you. And for the rest of this segment,
it will only be called CTE because I'm not going to go through that again. And the fact that this has
been getting a lot more tension in the last couple of days. And apparently the great Tony Darset
was diagnosed with this a couple of years ago. I just found out about this. Like it was just making
the social media really. I think it's making the rounds again because of your latest. Yes.
Because apparently the the the the the man in question that was the the subject of the film
of of concussion. Oh, Darna, what was this? Was it Ben and Amalu? I believe that Mr. OJ Simpson now has CTE.
Which is timed interestingly because this Tuesday on FX begins American crime story that
people versus OJ Simpson looks very interesting. I'm going to watch it. If for no
of the reason that cast looks spectacular. You put Courtney B. Vance and just about anything
I'm going to watch it. I just want to see Cooper Gooding Junior Transformer himself and OJ.
I've seen some of the footage. It's pretty dog on good. Yes. The only thing that kind of takes
me out of it is Schwimmer as Kardashian. Yeah. I saw that. That's a little bit different. No.
But what's her name as Marsha Clark Sarah Paulson. Yeah, that may be one of the best pieces
of serendipitous casting in the history of casting. Anyway. But the the the the the the the the
awareness of concussions in the number of cases have drastically increased on this on this condition.
271 concussions were diagnosed last year. That's up 32 percent from the previous NFL season.
And it's the highest number of cases in the last four years. And it's also going to tie
into our next segment a little bit too. Yes, it is. Concussions and repeated head trauma are
thought to be the leading case of CTE. So yeah, it is Dr. Binnett Amolo that he said he was
willing to bet his medical license that OJ has CTE. Now has OJ made any inroads as to submitting
to testing of any form do we know? Because I haven't heard that he has. Well, interestingly enough,
brain trauma was a defense that Simpson and his attorneys thought about using back in 2012.
But yeah, they just they cited numerous blows to the head led to this criminal behavior in 2007,
but Simpson's legal team ultimately chose to drop that defense. You kind of can't help but think
that they might be kicking themselves a little bit now. Because this has been getting so much attention
to shine on to it. Well, it's it's interesting that the NFL is finally kind of,
because if you watch concussion, the NFL was like, you need to go away. Like, our protocols are enough.
Yeah, no, no, they're not. No, it really isn't. And it's it's a double-edged sword.
Because on one hand, you know it's a violent game and this is going to happen. On the other hand,
you still want these people to live long and fruitful lives. Because what's the average,
what does say the average NFL careers, what four years? Yeah, you know, take. You say, who,
like, does the NFL really care if they live long and fruitful lives? No, like, let's make enough money
off of them and then bring in someone else. And incidentally, this is something I was not aware of,
or if it, if it was mentioned, you'll have to forgive me. I don't recall this.
That earlier this week, we lost Tyler Sach, a 27-year-old former NFL player,
who died from an accidental overdose on pain medications and his autopsy determine that he had.
CTE. I mean, there's been, there's been improvements made to the protocols and
they're working on more improvements for the helmets. But anytime it's you have a helmet in a
sport, it gives somebody license to use it. Yeah, you know, that it's a, it's a, it's a
protective device, not a target. Now, you also had a member of the Pittsburgh Sealer's come out
this week and say, in 20 years, they won't be football. And I regret even getting into football now
because of all this stuff. I disagree with that. I do too. You are always going to have people that
have gifts that some of them will be gifted in playing football. And as long as you have that
avenue, it's going to exist. And as long as you have people that are willing to take the risk to
do that to their bodies or have parents that are pushing them in that direction. Yeah, because let's
face it. CTE is not the only problem in football. You're at the end of the world. But it's,
it's, it's one that's getting more attention on it at deservedly so because at least now the
NFL is willing to acknowledge that it exists. Because I'm not a doctor nor do I play one on TV,
but physics suggests, you know, it's like the way that he explains it in, in concussion.
Whether with the Mason jar and the apple. Yeah. And it's, it's pretty frightening. It's,
it's a simplistic, but a fixed explanation, but it is very effective. When you, when you see
this thing just gets shaken up in the jar and then he said, this is basically what happens to the
human brain when it's encased on the skull. It's got nothing to, to brace itself against on the
inside the skull. And I think the one that really pushed it over the top was junior sale.
Yes. Like that to me, that was the one that the NFL finally had to say, okay. Yeah.
I mean, when you have somebody and it's, and it's disgusting that it takes a high profile player.
A great half of it. Absolutely. Well, it wasn't the first high profile player.
Lee was probably the highest profile player that that happened. The guy in the beginning of the
film that David Morris played. But I, and, and, you know, I know that I'm not the biggest football
guy on the world, but I wasn't that familiar with that guy. I'd heard his nickname, but I didn't
always remember. I didn't know his actual name. But junior sale. Yeah. I know that guy.
You know, it's, and it's, it's really heartbreaking. The great, when you see what these guys go through
and how they just basically lose themselves. They just, they're a shadow of their former self.
And they haven't even reached middle age yet. Indeed. And I'm just glad that things are
finally being done about it. Yeah. You've got, you've kind of tapped me out on my opinions.
I'm, I'm right there with you, Charlotte. Anything else you want to add? I just wonder
how many of them will use it like as a defense to get away with bad behavior at some point?
That, that does become a concern, especially since. Well, especially with the OJ thing. Yeah.
Let the, but the fact that they chose not to. Well, you would think at that point,
they'd be willing to grasp it. Any straw they could, but they weren't willing to. But I think
that opens the door. Yeah. Probably. But it's, and the, and the worst thing about it is that
they really can't be determined until they're gone. Yeah. They can't really determine that that's
what they suffered from until they excise their brain. And you can't do that and bring them back.
And again, if you haven't seen concussion, do yourself a solid. Yeah. You kind of owe it to yourself.
If you've got, check out iTunes exclusive 171 for details on that. If you've got kids that play
little league, you probably need to watch this thing. Oh, actually, let me think about that.
All right. Ready to move on? Yes. All right. Let's do speaking of sports. Let's get into the
NHL, or I'm going to kind of switch the headlines here because that's going to kind of segue
us into this. You've seen the footage we're about to talk about. Oh, gosh. This is, this is, this is
gut wrenching. Dennis, wide man, Cheryl. I don't know if you've seen this footage. I don't think so.
Let me see if I could pull it over because I would tell it to her. Dennis, wide man gets checked
into the boards and goes to go to the to the to the to the bench and he's claiming that
he's especially the calorie flames. He is alleging that he had a concussion, but he
he cleared the protocol and went back out on the ice. But basically high stick, a referee that
wasn't even looking and sent him to the hospital, by the way, by all reports. He has normally
it's a five, it's a five game minimum for the action. 10 games minimum if it's on an official.
Did you find it? They got found it. He has been suspended by the NHL indefinitely
because of this. When you see it again, I'm waiting for her reaction. He's claiming, I got to watch
the final countdown at first. Okay, because you know, that's what you do. He was claiming
concussion, but he cleared the protocol and went back on the ice. He went looking for this.
Yeah, he did because when you watch the footage, as he hits the rep, he raises up. That is
intent. I don't care who you are or what you're going through. He didn't like he wasn't slumping
or if he wasn't. If you're having problems with your vision and all of a sudden you see
something in front of you, you work to state out of the way of said object. Right. You don't go
at it. Sure, I would just saw the footage because her eyes just got as big as basketball. Does that
look like an accident to you? This isn't intent. I don't care who you are. This isn't intent.
But he hasn't been suspended indefinitely by the league. Well, good. You're a butthole.
Also, interesting as the NHL All-Sar game approaches us. God by the name of John Scott.
I think he's got like one point this year. God voted into the end of the All-Sar game by the fans.
And he's a guy that the NHL doesn't really think is probably a really good role model because
he's kind of an enforcer. So what happens is he gets sent down to the miners the day after the announcement.
But by the NHL rules, he's so eligible to play in the All-Star game.
So he gets to thumb his nose at the show. The way they're doing the All-Sar game,
this year's kind of cool because it's more of like a round robin four on four tournament.
Which I'm on board with because of the action so much faster. So we're going to see how that works out.
Let's go to standings in the Eastern Conference, the Atlantic Division, the Toronto Maple Leafs.
43 points. They've lost four in a row. He got it right. I did. He called it that right.
There are 20 points out of first place. They are a point behind Bafalo, the sobres.
The sobres are eight behind Otorwa. Otorwa was tied with Montreal. They are both five points behind
Baston. Boston a point behind Detroit. What happened? What about Detroit chat?
They said, thank you. They are tied with my beloved Tampa Bay and Tampa Bay is
I love five points behind my beloved Panthers and the Panthers have won three in a row.
The four of Panthers are playing some hockey, sir. How to say? Keep an eye on them.
I mean, 63 points and we're not even at the halfway market. They went on like a 10 or 11 game win streak.
Like they went nuts there for a little while. I think they caught fire after the stars kind of
fizzled out and what is the other division in the Eastern Conference?
The major problem division. The Columbus Blue Jackets.
You know what Columbus now may be. We may have to move America's favorite game show back to Columbus
really because we now have how many points out of first place are the Columbus Blue Jackets. Chad.
19. Charlotte.
22. Charlotte is the closest without going over the Columbus Blue Jackets. Currently have 43 points.
They are 31 points. Well, not a first place currently. I would even close. They have one
two in a row. So God bless them. By the way, they're gold differential is a minus 30.
God right now. Is that the worst in the league? Toronto with minus 20. Winnipeg minus 14.
Edmonton minus 27. Yeah, that's the worst in the league. They are seven points behind
Philadelphia. Philly is four points behind the Carolina Hurricanes. Hurricanes. The Hurricanes are
one behind New Jersey who are tied with Pittsburgh. They are both a point behind the Islanders. The
Islanders are three back on the Rangers. But you know what, you've got to give Columbus a little bit
of credit because they may be 31 out. But the Rangers are 15 points behind the Washington
Capitol. The caps are killing it right now. They are four points better than anybody else
in the league right now. In the western conference, the Pacific division that does not have
a Atlantic division because it's on the other side. The Edmonton Oilers are 20 points out of
first place. They are two behind Calgary, Calgary, six back on Vancouver and Anaheim. They are
both two points behind the areas. I can't get you to the Arizona coyotes. Coyotes three
back on San Jose and San Jose is 17 back on the L.A. Kings. And it's central division to a
conference that doesn't have an eastern or western. The Winnipeg jets are 23 points out of
the first place. They are eight back on Minnesota's a point behind Nashville who's a point behind
Colorado. Colorado was 13 back on St. Louis and St. Louis is third in the division. St. Louis is
three back on your Dallas stars and your Dallas stars by the way who are on a one-game win streak
but three six and one in their last 10. Yeah. But 12 and eight on the road 12 and five on the
road is not a bad record. No, it really isn't. And they're only three back on the Black
Hawks right now. So they are in the thick of the fight sir. I'm not saying they're out of the game.
They're just not as strong as they were when they were. But I'm telling these and stuff. They're playing
well this year. Yeah, yeah, yeah. They really are playing good hockey this year. Yeah, I can't take
anything away from them. But you know, I'm selling my boycott after the last lockout. So yeah,
we cover it because we do it for the kids. Let us move on. Do a little music talk.
Want to say congratulations to the Adele. She's really been struggling the past couple of years.
She really has and God bless her. You've seen Carpool karaoke with James Gordon. Yes, I have.
This is one of my favorite tracks I'll find you on by a way. Charlotte, have you seen this?
I have not. Do you need to take 15 minutes of your life and go enjoy this?
Okay. It's her and James Gordon driving around. I guess it's London. Yes. And he's interviewing her.
But they're also singing along the songs on the radio. She she makes. She actually does
want to Nicki Minaj's songs. Yeah, not only does she nail it. It makes that song enjoyable.
And even Nicki Minaj was like, she killed this like it. And when you get to the point where she
talks about how big of a Spice Girls fan she is. Oh, you will roll. You will roll. And there's a
point where James Gordon starts singing Harmony and the look on her face is right. It's like you just
back. I like this song. So this album is so amazing. It just is. But it's gotten over 56
million views on YouTube. Wow. And by the way, is that the only one you've watched? Correct.
Oh, wow. You've got to see the one that they did. But it's getting ready. On Valentine's Day,
BBC America's going to be airing a Dell Live in London, which was the show that she just
did over there. The first time she's performed Skyfall Live since the Oscars. Yeah, that's hard to imagine.
Like she's not a very Valentine's Day, kind of person. Yeah, she is now. This album she is. Yeah.
Well, some of it. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Also, it's going to have an interview with Graham
Norton during the special as well. So I'm going to be sent in the DVR because I missed the
live radio city music all day. And congratulations to the Mariah Carey. She's engaged.
And it's good to know that love is alive. And it's in the air. And it doesn't matter who you are.
She's marrying billionaire James Packer and they're renting a house in LA for like half a million
a month. You know what I have to say to James Packer? Good luck. Good luck with all of the
I was watching something the other day and they showed a picture of her circus nineteen ninety two
and I went, oh, I remember that Mariah. Oh, I was I had a sick crush on that woman.
I had a poster over on the front door of my dorm room freshman year in college. Now there's photo evidence
of this. Hmm. Thank you for instilling that crazy Tommy Matolla. Yeah, but if you really want comedy
go look up of what's his name? Who's there? Nick Cannon's reaction. Oh, this does he
does he take her to the wood shed? Well, not really. He takes a shattery. It's a pair of
it was a clip from House Husbands of Hollywood. And then he said he had she actually knew before
he proposed and she had called Nick Cannon just to say because they're of divorces and finally
yes. I was about to ask is there have they been sent? And why is that taking so long? And he
said the rumor is he's totally cool. Like he's like, I hope you're happy. I really hope you found
happiness. I'm totally cool with this. You know, I'm not the biggest Nick Cannon fan in the world.
No, am I? But props to him for for being the big man in this deal. Well, it's it's kind of
pointless to be anything, but just cool about it. Is it working on like drum line sixteen or something?
No, I thought he had kind of snagged himself a pretty I can either confirm or deny that.
I can't remember who he's supposed to be. His room had to be with let me look it up.
Kanye West. Oh, I'm out already. His new album he said this week will be called waves.
He has called it the best album ever. And it will he's when it gets to be a gospel album. His best album
ever. Oh, the best of course. Okay, yeah, of course. But man, but I'll tell you what he's had
rough week. Has he? Well, Charlie, you know what I'm talking about? Yeah, just Google
Amber Rose Kanye West and what she said about him this week. I read it and also
it would could be my favorite story of the week. Is it the Kanye's down in Austin? Okay. Yeah.
Goes to this very famous barbecue joint that usually has to close by noon because they're out of food.
I'm Kanye West. I should go to the front of the line. Guy behind the counter goes. No, back in the line with you.
And I went. You golf clapped a fool out of that. So great.
Just went that man to shut up. I just wanted to vanish. He's running for president in 2020.
Sure. I was running against him. I'm running against him. Would you please please? I have I have a guarantee
at least a cabinet position if not running me. I'm gonna say that would think you'd be the running. Although I cannot see Russia from my house.
I saw a doppelganger for her last night at a restaurant. Oh, yeah. I said I bet she can't see Russia from her house.
Tina Fey was in town. I think she was in town. No, no, no, no, no, no. This was I'd be telling you you
to see her pale in the town. I mean, this literally looks a lot like her.
Now, let's go from news that Chad could care less about to some news that he cares a little bit more about.
The depression mode going back into the studio in April for their 14th studio album. And you
remember your reaction when I told you this the other day? Good 14th. Yeah. It just doesn't seem
possible to me. What's it been 30 years? I mean, that's an average of one every other year. Yeah. That's not a
probably closer to 35. Well, they've been around since the early, early 80s. Yeah. So probably closer to 35.
So that's one every two or three years. That's not a bad track. Yeah, because people I mean,
they didn't really get noticed by the American public until people were people. And that was 85, 85,
86, something like that. That was in the sixth grade. Yeah. So it was somewhere like that. Because music for the masses is when they
really went over big with strange love and behind the wheel. And that was in the seventh. And then of course,
violators when everything. And that's 89, 90. She got that going on. Also found out today that
Black Sabbath is postponing their end-to-word dates. Ozzy has signed you side us. It kind of
developed before. But you got side us side us. Although there was a in the the performance I saw last time
of spam a lot. There was an Ozzy reference that guy came out dressed as him looking around. Very funny.
Geez. Out there at Rockwell High School shout out to them for a great performance of spam a lot last
night. Which, you know, this is the second production I've seen there. And given a remote show,
we're doing up here in a couple of months. It might sort of sound like bias. But, you know,
there's that. Also, for fans of the Rihanna, anti will actually hit a Pandora tomorrow if you want to hear her new album.
I'll all none of them in this room. You mean, anti Rihanna?
Oh, go ahead. I don't know how to deal with this next song. I am excited. And I hope they're at our 90s
show in June. I hope they like. I don't think they're going to be there for that. I do. I think this is cool.
How can this be anything but a good thing? Realty. As long as it doesn't do what, you know,
you remember what we talked about on this show a couple of months ago with that rap thing. He did on
that remix of that song. Send your read a go get me a beer. Well, but I also remember his appearance on
the aforementioned Graham Norton Show. Correct. That was some greatness. So you break that myth
announces this past week. He will be touring in 2016 with DJ Jazzy Jeff. I'm on board this. I'm on board
with this. I will put a Proviso on this. I will go pending ticket prices. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Now this show that in coming in June, Charlotte and I have, have, have a pact. We're going to this
I love the 90s show. It's happening. Yeah. This sounds like it's going to be a blast. I mean,
if nothing else, Rob Basis needed to be on it. It's one of my monitors at high school.
Really, I'm shocked. Freshman here is when it takes two drops. And I want the second
album very underrated by the way. But yeah, young MC, you kidding me? I'm in. Like, I want to see
songpepper that would be fun. But I'm more worried about the rest of the card than them.
I just, I just wish that a, that they would change the venue personally. To where?
This is going to be a place? Yes. I don't know. The Verizon will be a good place for this.
I just, I just think that Lawn C would be awesome for a show like it. Have you heard about the
rock paper scissors tour? That's happening later this year. No. Sting and Peter Gabriel. Oh, yes. Yes. Yes.
Yeah, we talked about that yesterday. I talked to Doc on the phone. He about lost his cool.
And I think they're calling us leaders. Well, I, I think they're calling at that just so they can
figure out who headlines each night. That's kind of what I thought whenever Aerosmith and Kiss
were touring together. I'm like, how do you pick that? They were up at the Choctaw Friday night.
Yes, they've been Lonnie were there. Yeah. I saw Aerosmith and Kiss. It was awesome.
So we were probably there on the same day. I was not there. When saliva opened? Yes.
Yep. I was there. And you know who else was coming in the concert? I got a text about it.
That was right before you're winning. My anti, my archnimesis. Yes. So you have so many deer.
Perseverance teamer. Yes.
I'm surprised. I'm using playing the arena. I thought Nicki Minaj was a little bit
sure and I'm not a fan either. But I got to hate him. But I wouldn't mind seeing him.
And it said, should I go ahead and secure your tickets for Bruce Springsting? And I said,
or you can secure me some dynamite so I can blow up the venue during soundtrack. Wow. Easy.
They all are. That would be that would be sure that with the terroristic threats.
Music new releases this Friday in places you get music new releases only a couple that I recognize,
but this guy, this is one of my favorite songs ever.
What a great song. Elton John releases wonderful crazy night.
If you're listening to the Billy Joel Channel on XM right now, he actually tells the story of how
face the face happened. And how in the 70s people were trying to pick them as enemies and they were both like
Elton was like, I'm a fan and Billy was like, I'm a fan. It only took us 23 years, but we got to,
I didn't realize they did that tour for 16 years, almost. And I didn't catch it dog on once.
But also this week, Lucinda Williams releases the ghosts of Highway 20. I haven't heard anything from
her in a while.
All right, taking deep breath with its time for in memoriam. And as we start in memoriam,
we want to send a shout out to the family and friends of a local friend of ours, Kim Grimes,
who we said farewell to today. She passed away this past week. She was a heck of a person,
beautiful soul. And it was so great to hear the stories being told about her life as we
celebrated her life earlier today. And it's so cool when you can see people that you've never
meant before. And they tell stories about somebody and they almost match the stories that you have
because it shows how genuine a person is because they're the same no matter where they are.
It was a beautiful service. The the chapel was packed full of people.
She was she was just one of those people that when I was hosting karaoke,
there's reliable as not a word you get to use very much when it comes to karaoke shows.
But she was one of those people. A literal force of nature. Four sons. Oh my gosh, she had
lead us behind a beautiful legacy. And we just definitely wanted to say one last farewell to her.
Thanks to everybody for a beautiful service earlier today.
We start our more notable nationwide to other people. It doesn't mean that she's not notable,
but not everybody knows who she is. A lot more people will know who the other people are. A
couple that we missed while we were on vacation. David Margielis passes away at 78. You might remember
him mainly as the mayor of New York from Ghostbusters. Yes. He's one of those guys. You see
he's like, oh, that guy. I've seen him in a bunch of stuff. Also Richard Libbertini at 82.
We talked about this briefly off air. Did we not? Oh yeah, we did. We went down his resume.
He's another one of those guys that's like that guy that was in that thing.
The earliest thing I can recall him from was he was in Popeye and Robin Williams is Popeye. He was a
Pooie and double Pooie guy. Catch 22. He was fletch his boss in both fletch films.
He was in lethal weapon four. Yeah, he was the rabbi that married them at the end.
A great character actor. He actually was in an off Broadway musical produced by Mad
Magazine called the Mad Show. Really? Yes. He was in this the 1979 version of the in-laws.
Oh, general Garcia. The nut bag guards. General Garcia. I want to talk with him.
Who did the senior winces? Yes. He's okay. He's okay. He's okay. I think his what his name was.
He was in your Pepe. He also was the bandit in Duck Tales of the movie. Wow.
He was also in all of me as the spiritual advisor. Yeah. He's a good room. Yeah. Unfatial yours. He was
the serpent Giuseppe. Again, another one of those guys that was just that guy in that thing.
We talked a little bit last week about Glenn Fry. I could do an hour just on him alone.
I will never get to see the Eagles ever, at least in the right way. And that wasn't
item on my bucket list. Way to talk about bucket list. And I do wonder, I don't think they too
anymore. I don't think they should. Or if they do, they'd have to do it like
under some kind of a pseudo pseudonym, you know what I mean? Because there is not a chance on this green
earth that they bring Felder back into the world. Oh no, no, no, no. And I wouldn't even put
Felder in the same category. Yeah, because I mean, that's for sure. I mean, honestly, he would be the
only sensible option, but none of them want to work with him again. Yeah. Oh dear. Then there's this.
Avigoda. Right after one. Giundee four years old has not aged a day in the latter half of his life.
No, when you realize it in the godfather, which is the better part of 45 years old.
And he still looked at saying, he really did. One of my favorite Avigoda stories was how people
reported he had died. And he sent a picture to them laying in a coffin reading that issue of people
magazine. My god, that's so creepy. You know, played phoosh on Barney Miller and then had his own
spin off where he was like a foster father. It was very much a left turn spin off, but it worked.
He was born in Brooklyn. His father was a tailor who had two other sons and did, I don't know if
you know this. One of his brothers was an artist who drew for Archie comics in the 40s. Really.
Started working while in his teens with the American theater wing. His first gig as a professional
actor was in 1947. I mean, uh, let's see things of course, Sal Tesio and the godfather. So he was
69 years in the business. Yeah. According to Francis Fort Coppola's commentary,
Avigoda landed the role of Sal Tesio in an open call.
But that what that's sinking. Good. It's, I mean, people have been reporting his death for so long.
Like he's like the Yoda of Hollywood. Didn't he get name checked in a beasty boy song?
Yeah, I got more rhymes in Avigoda. There's even a band called Avigoda.
That's when you've crossed over in the pump culture. I've never heard that go in. I've got more rhymes
that ain't forgotten. I think you're cat has more rhymes than that. But yeah, that one hurt me a lot
to see. Especially after just watching the godfather epic, which we're going to talk about here in a
little while. Also this week Paul Cantner at 74, one of the founding members of Jefferson Airplane
as well as his band made Signic Tolly Anderson the same day at the same age. Paul Cantner had a
daughter with great slick China cancer who was actually a VJ at one point.
This was a guy that an amazing, amazing musician and it was with the band pretty much through just
about all of it. Years active, 1964 to 2016. Jeez. And I don't care anybody says I like we built
this city. It's a good song. I don't care what you say maximum. You could have my share because I
never have cared for that song. That band went through so many changes, but they still were
seen to be successful. So there's that and I saw Mike Miner today. This was one that I wanted to make
just a mention because he was part of a very, very successful show. He was Steve Elliott on Petticoat
Junction. Oh, that's right. I did see this yesterday. So had his began voice lessons in 1953 at the age of
13. He is the son of television producer Don Fetterson grew up in Beverly Hills.
Went to university high school in Los Angeles. I mean Petticoat Junction was his bigger thing.
Biggest thing. His character was a pilot. He crashes airplane into Hooderville and then recovered
in labor later married Betty Joe Bradley. And they were kind of pretty much the focus of season 6 and 7.
Many people thought it was him that sang the theme song. It was not him.
Also appeared on Beverly Hillbilly's chips, Vegas, and LA Law.
You know what? I need to look at chips for a minute because somebody told me something
that one of the members of that show has a very famous son. I don't have to look at that later.
Can't remember if it was John or the captain. And I think you had one over there, sir.
I've got a couple, actually. Feel free. Mr. Frank Finley passed away at the age of 89.
Notable stage and screen actor born in Lancashire, England. Most known for playing Iago and off
fellow in the screen adaptation of a fellow. As a surprise. And I'm not that Iago, I'm sorry.
And you take the scared the crap out of any of you. And he was in the early 70s, 80s,
adaptation of the Musketeer's trilogy playing Portos. Nice. One of my favorite characters in literature.
He's played Jacob Marley in a TV adaptation of a Christmas Carol, played Dr. Van Helsing in a TV adaptation
of Count Dracula. He's just one of those classically trained actors that I'm sure most Brits
were really really fond of. And also from that side of the pond was a Certary Wogan, a hope I'm
not mispronouncing that. He was an Irish British broadcaster for the BBC. He passed away
apparently early this morning after about with cancer. But when I when I when I mentioned
him to my wife, who Rob and describe her as you always describe her of British descent,
he apparently he passed away in in Jules' mother's hometown of Buckinghamshire.
But he hosted television shows radio programs. Children shows he did fun razors and telephones.
He was kind of like their version of Jerry Lewis apparently. But he was active up through last
year. I believe he retired last year after he got diagnosed. But he passed away this morning at the
at the age of 77. Okay. Don's just checked in in the answer to question. Don is yes.
Let us move on to some NBA talk right now. I'll start game coming up. So there's that.
Remember the over under is usually around 300 for that game? Because there is no defense.
Just a slam dunk contest even though that as its own segment. Yes. So let's talk about the
eastern conference standings in the Atlantic division. The Philadelphia 76ers. You still suck.
7 and 41 right now. You were just being cagey. You're serious. They're oh and 10 in the
division. You wait. They are literally 25 and a half games back right now. You would think
that they would at least be in double digits by accident at some point. I mean, there's still time.
I'm saying this stage. We're past that point. Yeah. They literally have a half a season in the
loss column right now. They have 41 losses served. 82 games in a season. God.
Like what are you doing during practice? Go fish. Go fish. They are five games back on
Brooklyn. Brooklyn is 10 and a half back on the nicks. The nicks four and a half back on
Boston. Boston is five and a half back on Toronto. By the way, the Toronto Raptors are on 11
game Winstreak currently served. In the central division, Milo walk K nine games below 500
but 15 and a half back. There are five and a half behind Detroit Detroit is a half game back
on Indiana. Indiana is a game and a half back on Chicago. Chicago now eight back on Cleveland who
is one four in a row. So that's you got that after they've just fired their coach and
because Tyron Liu was the solution. Yes, of course. I mean, I thought BJ Anderson looked like he
was 12 this kid. In the south eastern division, Orlando 13 and a half back there five games
below 500 but they've lost eight in a row. They're a game back on the bullets. I'm sorry,
Wizards, who are tied with Charlotte Charlotte and Washington are four back on Miami,
who's won three in a row and my beloved heat are only a half game back on Atlanta for the lead
in the south east of the division in the conference of the eastern place and BA. It just awards
got to control sometimes. Wheel wheel wheel. It's been a long week. You tried. I tried to land it
and there were just the landing gear would not come now. You kept hitting juggles but I run away.
I did get everyone safely to the gate. In the western conference we just lost all of our
luggage. North West in the northwest division because that's where Minnesota is.
Minnesota's 20 games below 500 after losing three in a row but they are 21 and a half back.
They're four back on Denver. Denver is four back on Utah. Utah is tied with Portland.
But Portland is 13 and a half back on the Oklahoma City Thunder right now.
God. Yeah. It's the thunder. I mean, they're always in it. 9 and 1 in their last 10.
They're 25 and 4 in the conference. They've lost one division game this year, sir.
God Almighty. In the Pacific division, the Lakers.
I'm just going to say it. The Lakers are a game in a half ahead of Philly.
Seriously? 9 and 40. Wow. They are 35 games out of first place. They've lost 9 in a row.
I think I think Kobe needs to sit on the floor next time. 5 and 17 at home.
They have a 10 point differential this year. They are. But the good news is they're only 6 and a half back
on phoenix. What happened to the suns? The suns are 6 and a half back on Sacramento.
Oh, Sacramento is 12 and a half back of the clippers. What happened to the suns is Steve Nashed up playing.
And the clippers are 11 and a half back on Golden State. Golden State right now 43 and 4.
So we are halfway through this season. The question that everyone's been asking and I will pose this to you, sir.
Sure. I want you to opinion on this too. Okay. You've already won a title.
So you're defending your title. Are you more focused on the repeat or 73 and 10?
Because we know that's the best record in the history NBA of the 95 volts, 73 and 10.
You're on pace for it right now. Yeah, but everybody knows that your legacy is based on how many
titles you've got. I was about like if you're not there to win, like what's the point? Like to win it all.
Yeah. So if you're comfortable enough to have the one seed in the playoffs,
do you take the chance of sitting your team? No, or do you keep trying for that 73 and 10?
Some people say they could get the 74 and 9. I mean, it getting 70. I'm sorry, 72 and 10.
Not 73 and 10. Getting the getting the record or breaking the record will become a buy product
of winning your championship. I mean, it's, but that's what I'm saying. It's got to go down and
can't have your cake and eat it too. That's what I'm asking. Do you get to, if you get to the
point where there's no way anybody can catch you for the one seed? Do you keep pushing forward and
try for that 73 and 9? Yeah, why not? Because that's been the big question.
Steph Curry's health. You know, he's been sitting out games. I mean, you know, if it's going to,
if it's going to possibly hurt you in the postseason, maybe back off of it, but if it's, if it
can't come back to buy you, why not? Go for it. If you've got, if you've got nothing to lose by
going forward, go for it. Because I mean, you think about it right now. The only team close to them
is going to be the one team and the one division we haven't talked about yet. And that's San
Antonio. They're only four games behind the Warriors. So right now, if both teams win on their own
pace, you would have to stay on this thing to secure the one seed. Almost all the way through the season.
Because what do we know about San Antonio? You cannot predict what they're going to wind up doing.
No. And that drives me nuts about that team. It's going to be this, this season's going to be
real interesting to watch because of where Sacramento is and where San Antonio is. You know,
and I mean, you look at the team behind, they have an 11 and a half game lead in in their,
in their division. San Antonio has an 11 and a half game lead in their division.
So this is going to get real weird. Come, no, it's going to get real interesting. Come,
it is going to come. You know, six weeks from now. Because in the southwest division, the New Orleans
Pelicans are 10 games under 500, they're 24 and a half back. They are five games back on Houston.
Houston is a game and a half back on Dallas. Dallas is in the middle of the pack right now,
speaking of the Dallas Mavericks. And I want to send this out before we forget. Shout out to
friend of the show, JJ Tarno, because the maps, maniacs are going to Toronto for the all-star game.
Really, they are. So congratulations to those gentlemen. Big fan Dallas right now,
a game and a half back of Memphis. Memphis, as we said, 11 and a half back on San Antonio.
So this is going to be a fun stretch in the second half of the season. Yeah. So we'll be keeping an eye on
that for you as well. All right, and you take a breath before we get into combining sports and
entertainment and let's talk wrestling talk. Nikki Bella goes undergo successful next surgery this
past week. There are rumors that the surgery could be career ending, but nobody is willing to
believe it's yet. She is working out already again with the neck brace on one chain as speaking
very highly of her because I think he's contractually bound to. Unless you're Charlotte and
you're watching total divas and you're thinking something differently. Or is he morally obligated to say
that that's a fair point. So we'll be monitoring that since he has to since he won't marry or have
kids with her. That's called planning a hit. Giving yourself an out. I know we laugh about this
but we also seriously want to send a shout out to the people that WWE is working with with the
Connors Cure charity, which this is the kid that won the very first warrior award this past year at the
Hall of Fame. Connors Cure is now raised over 900,000 dollars. That's impressive. Getting towards
they wanted them, they wanted to raise a million dollars and they're getting close. So go out there
support Connors Cure. You could see the bracelets that when you see Steph on TV and she's got that
one bracelet. It looks like nothing else she's wearing. That's what that's for. It's for Connors Cure.
This was a kid who just look up his story. It's an amazing story. I can't look it up and
not start crying. There's no way they don't hit that target after WrestleMania. So congratulations to them.
Steve and a Mel has issued a challenge to start us. Because if you remember the slammies
start us took the slammy that Steven and a Mel won hasn't given it to him yet. And he said
give me back my slammy. We'll put it up for auction to benefit Elijah Maneville who is a WWE fan
battling stage 4 cancer. They call him Drax Shadow. That's the next is a wrestler name. Again,
Steven and a Mel. A celebrity that gets it. And embraces these absolutely. And embraces the
geekness. And both of them will be appearing at Dallas, Comic Con here in a couple of weeks.
So could we have that exchange happening in our fairburg sir? That's a possibility. Just say in.
All right. And I will have you know the iPad is in the studio this week. Thank goodness.
I have to run hair for the show properly. Charlotte does not have to at the moment of the show.
Who probably, I don't know if she actually could get the iPad if I didn't do it or not.
You've got legs. Exactly. Let's talk raw. We were a little worried after the rumble
because man Roman was getting booed. Boy, you ain't kidding. But it was interesting though,
and I don't know if you and I talked about this or not. But when they carted him out,
back behind the stage, they were rewriting the ending. I mean, literally like booking on the fly.
They were booking on the fly because what they thought was going to happen. As we all know,
if you haven't listened, watch the rumble by now, just pause it and come back. The number 30
entrance was triple H. And the original booking was going to be H and reins in the ring. But what
they were worried was going to happen because reins was getting so booed that triple H was going to
go over as a face. So they rewrote the ending so that H eliminated Roman and it was going to be
Dean Ambrose who they knew was going to go over regardless because I thought that was a really
interesting deal. But Monday night boy, he was back over again. That place was going crazy.
And have you seen H's plates on the belt yet? No. Look it up. Okay. It looks really cool.
They did a really good job on it. Speaking of Charlotte's favorite personality on total
divas. My favorite absolute hysterical. Knowing that we fired Billy Gunn a few weeks ago for
PEDUs, I'm surprised they're still letting Ziegler use the famous her because that's not as
finisher. I mean, it's one of them that he uses. But I'm kind of surprised they're still
with them and calling it the famous her because that was a play on words for for Billy Gunn.
Don will get this. Oh, I want to go back. I want to go back to this because I'm not ready to talk
about him yet. The social outcasts came out and they're referring to Heath Slater as the red dragon.
Let's slow that down because red dragon is a tag team in ROH.
So let's slow down and take in the shots at the other companies. Since you just got a couple of them
from there and him kidding. So also this this is the one segment that I can say you should be glad you
weren't around to watch because the social outcasts called out somebody a ringside and his name is
Flow Rida. And there was a rap battle between Flow Rida and Bow Rida. Love of all that is
and at the end of the Bow Rida rap. The social outcasts did like a Konga line around the room
which they called the bow train. Shut up. I can't make this out. This is true story.
All I'm saying is if that happened you better be putting the godfather in a whole thing this year.
And I I really hope Flow Rida's check was huge because this segment was such a failed bit.
And you know what I kind of like to flow Rida. I could take your leave him but I'm not going
to change the channel if one of his shows are on. I just don't want to all over WTV. Why they
have such a love affair with this guy. How many times did they tap down? Well they were in my
amy. Yeah, but still. I mean geez. I just I had to me. Not that great.
Guys, you know if you're in it. But you could say that about quite a bit of the WWE product. But what
do I know? Yeah, it's a fair point.
All right. Charlotte I don't know how much you know about what happened at the rumble
when what happened afterwards. Not much. He was he the second intern, Chad. Wasn't he the second
intern into the rumble after Roman? I believe. The mystery guess I believe so. Yeah. No way way way way
the big pop. No. No. He wasn't snow. He wasn't. He was early. It was either two or three. Yeah,
he was early, but he wasn't second. Let me let me go to the Wikipedia page.
A. J. Styles. That pop was guard Gantuan. He was actually using a DMX song that they
re did. The pop and the building and the pop and this build in the green room absolutely.
I thought LA was going to lose it. Now you know how when when a wrestler walks to the ring
from the real position. They're always talking and sometimes you can pick it up on camera what they're
saying. Uh-huh. Let me give you the quote from AJ Styles. This is where I belong. This is where I should
have been the whole time. Good Lord. Those words came out of his mouth. Uh, Don says Rousseau
was to AJ was three. Yes, he was. He was three. Thank you, Don. Uh, eliminated by KO. Where has this
AJ been for the last day? This is when you go the nowhere he's been. Well, did you have a chance to
watch it yet? Watch what any of raw at all. Because I sometimes you watch it sometimes you don't.
I don't know. I watch a little bit of it. Well, I just whatever whatever you were watching.
I watch the recaps of what they showed. Go back and watch the AJ Styles, Chris Jericho match.
It was like was it glory days? I thought it was 2005 watching AJ work. Wow. And at one point in
Twitter, he thanked Triple H for giving him the match and Jericho responded, um, you need to thank
me. But yeah, and this move, I want you just just renewal theater the mind for a minute, okay?
You know what AJ's finish is. Styles clash. Right. You know what the style's clash is.
Pick a guy up like it's a pile driver. Put your feet on either side of his, on the outside of
his arms and then it's a flapjack slam. Okay. Yikes. Jericho picks him up like he's going to do the
Styles clash. Walks through it, turns it into the walls of Jericho. I was like that was brilliant.
I don't know who booked that move, but that was brilliant. Because he had, he had that crowd in the
palm of his hands. Because people were like he's about to do AJ's finisher and then just walk through
and sat down and that place went crazy. And I was talking to friend of the show Steven Zimmerman
on texting while I was watching this. He was a little bit ahead of me, but Steven said something
really interesting that I want to share with you. Let AJ win money in the bank. Yes. And then you
started with the factions. You bring in bullet club. Because I'm telling you, he catches in. I'm
going to say it right now. He is WWE World Heavyweight Champion before the end of the year.
What did you read? What Brett said about the rumble? Uh-huh. Wow. He ranked it. He ranked the
rumble matches one of the least exciting in history. I enjoyed the rumble. And the overall event is
perhaps the worst rumble. Now the overall event left some things to be desired. But I thought the rumble
was so great. Uh, and he said that he didn't like the decision the Triple H surprise put the belt
on himself again. It just showed a real lack of imagination. We know what it's working towards.
Yeah, we do. We know. Um, I am going to make a prediction right now that Fastlane,
if not WrestleMania, will be a triple threat for the Davis title. Becky Lynch versus Charlotte
versus Sasha Banks. Now how long is, uh, oh, hey, hey, she's already back active. Oh, she is.
She tagged with Natty. Okay. Okay. Good. Just passed week. But yeah, I think that Triple
threat will be fun to watch. Nice to see Natty back. And got the win and got the win, by the way.
No, she didn't. Natty should act in the tag match. I'm talking about it on the SmackDown the other night.
No, the tag match with page they want. Oh, okay. And uh, somebody else showed up.
There is a big return to Raw on the open up the the, uh, the limo door. And that walks miss.
And miss is like, this is the greatest comeback in the history of Raw and then a truck pulls up. And this
happens. And with that, Charlotte is disappointed. Don does want to remind everybody that yes,
he was 6 and 0 in his rumble picks. It's the January paperview, sir.
Slow and steady wins the race. Um, wow. Rock did about 30 minutes.
And it was hilarious. Now he might have had one energy drink too many before he showed up on camera.
You think so? You know it wasn't hilarious. The truth. That's true. Oh, true.
Everybody has there. She's talking about the movie. Not the concept. Yes, yes.
Uh, but he cut a promo with Frenchy.
I was like, man, big show. It could have been you with all this success.
And he's like, no, it's okay. And he like snapped a laptop. And of course, they're in Miami. So,
you know, he's huge over.
Just, and he did, at one point, he's like, we're going off script.
And he goes out of the ring. And he's talking to these, these people at the ring side dressed as
Hogan Macho Man and Undertaker. And the first guy's like, why did the whole, it doesn't matter what your name is.
Like, no, I'm just kidding. Um, apparently not well received backstage.
Really? Because these guys were on TV side. WWE moved them to camera side.
Because they were, they said they were distracting the action in the ring with their cosplay.
And they said, if it had been anybody else besides one chainer or rock that did that, they wouldn't have been fired.
And basically rock put up a tweet going, yeah, they were probably pretty mad. Not really worried about it.
What are you going to do? Not ask me back. Exactly. He's doing Johnson. You can do it every once.
But it was funny. And what I wrote as, you know, Dwayne's in the ring and the new day
muse that hits. And I just wrote, Dwayne versus the new day. No good can come from this.
But we did get an interesting little bit during the, uh, uh, um, Don's taking shots that you
sure I was just saying, you know, he says one fine tonight. She is immune to your, your, your,
your arrows. Um, the new day did say calm down. Time guy calm down.
Yeah, yeah, you sign guy got a shout out. It's nice. Always good to see Rick get the shout out there.
So that was a lot of fun. But that's really all I had from Raw. It was a good show overall.
The last half an hour kind of crawled for me. But, you know, it was what it was.
Let's, uh, let's actually do some other talk. Luchia Underground got renewed for season three on
L. Ray Network, a channel I don't get. I was I would love to watch that show because I saw the
here's what you need to know in 10 minutes with match striker.
They got some good stuff going on over there at Luchia Underground even though they have
of, but last week's impact congratulations highest ratings since last February, which I don't
understand. Because they're on a channel that I don't know anybody that gets what channel it's called
pop TV. It's what the TV guide channel used to be. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Never heard of that.
It's not a new verse. So, but there's that, uh, Jeff Hardy and the wolves have resigned with TNA,
which I don't understand, uh, but they're not doing any house shows and their next event is not
a TV taping next month. They're also putting a lot of guys on salary now. So, they don't, so they
can't do indie dates. It's just kind of weird. But you don't put me on salary, but then if it's
back in that, I'll call me just saying. And apparently they're, you know, they're over in the UK
doing their maximum impact to or thing. Uh, awesome Kong sent home after she gets into a physical
confrontation with Matt Hardy's wife, Reby Sky. There are rumors that she has marks on her
neck where Kong tried to choke her cheese. And Reby is now officially on the TNA roster. So congratulations
on that. And Angle had his first match and apparently he may have had a concussion during his first
match back as he wraps up his career of this month. He's still scheduled to have Bobby Lashley
as his last match. Uh, very, very soon. I'm Bobby Lashley. Who do you know? He sounds like he knows grandma.
No, it's grandma. I haven't talked about Bobby Lashley's grandma on many, many moves. Yeah.
She hadn't been here in many, uh, ROH, resigning a couple of people. This guy.
Jay Leethel.
Carmen, ROH champion has resigned with the company. As has the aforementioned red dragon,
I'm a big fan of those guys. Great wrestlers. They had their 14th anniversary show coming up
very, very soon. I believe it is on the 18th of February.
It's our next paper view. What they have done with this theme cracks me up. You know,
a big fan of Jay Leethel. Uh, injury reports Naomi is out with an undisclosed injury.
Shameless has an arm injury. Alberto Del Rio has a lower back injury, which means Roosev is the
only member of the League of Nations currently. Geez. Not going well.
Uh, we did find out that Shinsuke Nakamura has been signed. He will be at NXT take over Dallas.
This is the guy I talked to you about last week, because basically the Japanese version of Terry Funk.
Okay. Okay. Yeah.
There are rumors that Samoa Joe and Sami Zayn may be brought up after WrestleMania.
Not Finn Ballard just yet.
Which one of you were jacked about Joe?
By country mouth. I love Sami Zayn and Baylor.
Zayn. Because he's a generico. You know, much I love that character. Yeah.
So let's talk a little bit of Smackdown.
Is Ziegler finally getting back to that place where he might be in line for a title shot?
It kind of seems like it's getting there now. As long as he doesn't get injured again.
But say, I don't know who he ticked off by getting hurt. He just, I don't know. He's like a guy that can't seem to get out of his own way sometimes.
And I don't understand.
I hate to kick a man while he's down.
You watch Smackdown with me. Uh-huh. You bear to witness to the Moro Renalo.
Yeah.
We're going to try to get some form of control here. What are you going to do?
You're not going to do anything. Take the Wii out of it. Yeah.
You're going to, you're going to sit there and watch other people try to take control of it.
And then King Colin him, MR.
Really?
Your best friend.
J.R. And you're going to do this.
He did hit me sideways. And who is his other, who's their other broadcast partner?
Byron Saxon. He did the same thing with him.
Yeah, the B.S. That's, you know what that is. Yeah, but still.
You know, MR is too close to J.R. That's all I'm saying.
Don says they are always 14 in the race. February 26.
Oh, yeah. He's someone today on ROH. They did. There was a tag match of
Red Dragon versus J. Lee Tho and Adam Cole. Adam Cole, baby. That's his best.
So she's since the rest of his stable is now in T today or injured.
So there's that. Let's talk some movie talk shall we?
Yes, let's switch gears. Let's take for running on his team. Box office numbers.
Dropping out of the top 10 this week. Daddy's home drops from 8 to 11.
This movie made 143 million dollars.
I heard John Cena's in that. And Daddy's home? Yeah, he's his sister.
He had the small cameo in it at the rear end. Yeah.
I know he's in sister. My friend told me that because they went and saw it.
He's pretty darn funny in sisters too. The big short drops from 10 to 12.
$3 million eight weeks, $60.9 million dollars and a $28 million dollar budget.
And norm of the north drops from nine to 16 nine hundred and twenty five thousand dollars in three
weeks that's made $16 million dollars. I'm going to put it out there. They lost some money.
Dropping from seven to ten this week is 13 hours, which I've been told the movie is
pretty much that long. At least it feels that way. Yeah, it's, I mean, it's almost three hours long.
Why? Six million dollars, three weeks, 42.6 million dollars, $50 million dollar budget.
This may squeak by. I just you put Ben Gazi and Michael Bay on the same sentence and I'm pretty much out.
Day viewing in ninth place, the new parody 50 shades of black with the Marlin Williams,
$6.2 million dollars. I don't have a budget on that. The fifth wave drops from six to eight
this week, $7 million dollars, two weeks, $20.2 million dollars, $38 million dollar budget.
And that would be known as iTunes exclusive 175.
It's all I'm saying. Dropping from four to seven is dirty grandpa, $7.6 million dollars,
two weeks, $22 million. So you got that going for you. It was just nice.
The boy, no, which is insidious meets Gremlins, drops from five to six this week,
$7.9 million dollars, two weeks, $21.5 million dollars on a ten million dollar budget.
Right along two drops from the bronze medal to fifth place, $8.4 million dollars,
three weeks, $70.8 million dollars on a $40 million dollar budget.
The finest hours. Or as I like to call it, iTunes exclusive 178.
Day views in fourth place this week with $10.3 million dollars.
Star Wars, the force awakens goes back up to the silver medal, drops back down to the bronze
medal this week, $10.8 million dollars, $895.3 million dollars, sir. I think it's going to be okay.
We might get a sequel out of that. Worldwide, just under $2 billion.
It'll probably hit the $2 billion mark this week because it only needs $17,000 to hit $2 billion.
Let's go and help him out. I know. A little indie film doing well.
Dropping from the gold medal to the silver medal this week, the Revenant, $12.4 million dollars,
six weeks, $138.2 million dollars, $135 million dollar budget, sir.
Have you seen that yet? I have not. Don says 50 shades of gray's budget was only $5 million.
Or 50 shades of black, I'm sorry. So it's already beaten, it's budget.
I didn't realize it was expensive.
I'm trying to figure out where all that money would have gone.
Leo's paycheck. And day viewing in the gold medal position,
Kung Fu Panda 3, iTunes exclusive number 177, 41 million dollars, sir.
That's respectable opening and you are working your way through the first two.
Charlotte, Kung Fu Panda, wonderful. Okay. I don't really like Kung Fu Panda. Really? I really didn't.
I really really didn't. That makes me sad. I'm sorry. And this one's my favorite of the three.
It's really really good. And Poe was on jeopardy on Friday. Oh, was he? Yes. He was doing a a category
on unlikely warriors. Well, I got about 38 episodes before. Well, this week, this week is the college tournament
starts. This week and next week is the college tournament. Okay. So I want to keep keeping up the date on that.
Alright, let's talk some movie news. What was it that was, you were supposed to address something here.
You were supposed to remind you to bring something up. Oh, the godfather epic. Okay.
If you have not seen this, we've talked before about how my holy grail on DVD is the godfather
the novel made for television, which they did in the late 70s, early 80s. It is godfather and godfather
to combine and put cut into chronological order. It is seven hours and ten minutes long.
It is available on HBO Go right now. I highly advise you to watch it.
Even if you haven't seen the films, go watch this cut. It's the 1080p transfer is gorgeous.
We went through it two Saturdays ago. How to blast heads of people in the green room. Just checking it out.
Seven and a half hours of your life. You will not want back agreed. Don wants to know. Have
you gotten through the first Kung Fu Panda yet. No, he says no. I think I'm probably heard him say that.
I don't know why. I have to translate that. We speak the same language. It's been a long weekend.
All right. So, Paramount has bought the rights to little house on the prairie for a movie.
Okay, you know, and actually, I'm kind of surprised it's taken anyone this long.
But a movie? I'm gonna see it. I'm just saying. I'm just I'm surprised it's taken them this long.
But a movie. Okay. Dude, we like why not just bring back the show. We've cannibalized everything else
and turned it into films. No, would you honestly think that they would have done a dukes of hazard movie?
Well, that was before I just say it was in full swing. Well,
it happened. I just for me, you want to revive the television show? I get that.
Like something like CBS would do that. I mean, that'd be the only network that I could see doing it.
That's not on cable. But I just don't see the relevant side. But they're also doing a Nicktunes
crossover film. Rugrats, Doug, Renin, Stimpy, and more. So you got that going for you, which is nice.
Is it? Hey, the kids that watch this are old enough to have jobs now. That's what that is.
Kids that watch it are probably the ones drawing are probably animating it. It's very true.
Well, apparently we're getting closer to the 50 shades of gray sequel.
Well, you're welcome, Internet. Wow.
Christian Gray's former lover will be played by Kim Basinger.
Okay. Elena. That's her name in the book.
I read the book and I just, I don't know. I don't know my head. What concerns me more?
That my sister knows the character's name or that would allude to the fact that my sister
has read the books. I read the books. So high. And I've read the the other one that just came out
because they have one that's from the girls point of view and now they have one that's from his
point of view. Oh, really? Yeah. So.
She's a big girl now, Rob. She can. I know, but she's still my sister.
Going to my happy place. Give me a moment. I think that that's a good role for her. Like, I mean,
the way that a scriper in the book. It makes sense. It does. It's like a Mrs. Robinson kind of. Yeah.
It's yeah. It's a matter of fact. That's what she calls her in the book. She calls her Mrs. Robinson.
Does she love her lover? Okay. Do we have a release date on that thing? It's, I thought it was
2017. She only units a thing and I've got it right in front of me. I thought it was a while.
But I just, I feel like they're taking to, they took too long to get to the first one.
Well, the first, the first, the movie was terrible 2017. And it didn't go, it didn't follow the
book at all. 10th of February next year. Yeah. Why are they waiting so long? I don't understand
it's more in the demand than they realized she would be from this. You would think that they could
probably crank out the principal photographer this thing in about a week. Yeah. I mean,
especially if you're not following the book. Yeah. They, they, they, they, the whole thing takes place
around Seattle. Yeah. Right. I mean, it's not like they really deviated that far from
Seattle. So whatever. Lee Daniels directing a documentary about the Apollo Theater. And I am
so in on that book it book it now. Also, a movie called The Birth of a Nation, not a remake of the
film that takes too long to watch and is very uncomfortable. But this is about slaves in the south.
It's about the Nat Turner revolt. Okay. Army Hammer, Penelope Ann Miller, Gabrielle Union,
Jackie Earl, Haley. Let's see. Directed by Nate Parker was bought at Sundance for 17.1 million. Good.
That is a record. Fox search light bought it. So. Oh, mighty. Yeah. You got that going for you,
which is nice. And also there apparently they've remade cabin fever. In the first trailer for
that's coming very soon. I never saw the first one today that I'm not like here. Do you want me to
break down the sag awards for the movie category? Yeah. Go ahead. Uh, outstanding performance
by male actor in a leading role. Lead art of Caprio, the Revenant. Okay.
Outstanding performance by female actor in a leading role. You'll be very happy to hear. It was
pretty large in for room. Good for her. Outstanding performance by male actor in a supporting role.
Edres Elba, Beasts of No Nation. Yeah, he won too, didn't he?
One for TV, one for film. Okay. Uh, that's the picture I saw him holding up the two. Uh huh.
Outstanding performance by female actor in a supporting role, a very busy
Alicia Vi-kander for the Danish girl. Okay. Outstanding performance by cast in a motion picture.
I was happy to know. Spotlight took that one. Very nice. And outstanding performance by a
stunt ensemble in a motion picture. Kind of a no-brainer. Mad Max. Mad Max Fury Road.
Very nice. Movie new releases in a movie new release place close to you this week.
Charlie, I can hear this in June. Movie called The Choice. Basically the latest nickelist
sparks bit. I'm taking one for the team. I'm screening this. I'm sorry. And thank you.
You're very welcome. America. Also pride and prejudice in zombies. Charlie is shaking her head.
Do not take my favorite book in a room. It was zombies. Oh, there's more coming.
Because they've done this at least three times now. I don't like your sense in sensibility in zombies too.
Oh, no. I think it's something else. It's in sensibility and then something else.
Hail Caesar. The latest from a Cohen Brothers. What is this? I know who it is, but what is called
shoes. This is a big hit for them. Is that Charlie now going to hear this in June?
But Hail Caesar basically it's a kidnapped comedy. Have you seen the cast on this thing?
It's ridiculous. I mean, it's it's the Cohen Brothers. So it doesn't really surprise me.
But Scarlett Johansson, Channing, Tatum, Josh Brolin, George Clooney,
Ray Fines, till the Swinton, Jonah Hill, Dolph London, Clancy Brown, Alice in
Pill, Francis, McDorman, Emily Beacham Fisher, Stevens, Christopher Lambert. Good night.
It looks very, very funny. I've seen the trailer. Speaking of the finds family,
you want to talk about this, actually. I'm amazed that it didn't make the run sheet. I was going to leave
it be because I see where they're going, where the, let's go ahead, sir. But they're making a
kind of a quick biopic. It is made for television, movie, if I'm not mistaken. BBC,
about the events that followed 911 and Michael Jackson's quest to get back to LA,
to get out of New York and into LA because he couldn't fly. So he had to drive back to LA with
Brando and Elizabeth Taylor. The reason that I bring this up is who they have picked to play Michael
Jackson. Joseph fine. Joseph fine. Really? Why not? Okay. I'm just saying why not.
And I'm trying to recall who they said is playing Elizabeth Taylor and Brando.
Let me look that up real quick. Go ahead and run down there. Also this week,
Dad's Army, Katherine Zeta Jones, Bill Nye, Michael Gambone, Toby Jones, Tom Courtney,
who we recently saw in 45 years. The science guy? No. Oh, dang. That's, this is Bill Nye and I
G H Y. Oh, you know it. You, you believe it, you know. Basically the Walmington on C Homeguard put
tuned deal with a visiting female journalist and a German spy as World War II draws to its conclusion.
I want to see if seeing the trailer for this and it looks kind of funny, but
also regression opening this week, Ethan Hawke and Emma Watson and David Thulus.
A father is accused of a crime he has no memory of committing.
Got that going for you and southbound. Have you heard of this? What's the gist?
This is kind of an anthology. Five inner locking tails of terror follow the faiths of a
group of weary travelers who confront their worst nightmares and darkest secrets.
Over a one long night on a desolate stretch of desert highway. No.
No, Chad might be in. Not in your will house. No.
I mean, you're not going to see that. Who me? No, I'm absolutely not. But, you know, that's ridiculous.
Oh, okay, here it is. As Elizabeth Taylor. Stocker Channing.
I see that. I can see that. As Marlon Brando. Brian Cox.
I can see that. I'm interested. As what's it called?
I don't think even thinking it has a title.
It's a half hour one off comedy. Want to be starting a road trip for
for boom, nailed it for Britain's Sky TV. It's based on a story told in a vanity fair article. Okay,
but I suppose it wrote a trip at the three took in 2001. DVD and blue right new releases in places. You
get DVD and blue right new releases. Blue ray snow white in the seven dwarfs. I think somebody in this room
is getting it. I'm going to go get tomorrow. You can't get until Tuesday dear. It's I saw it came out yesterday.
Huh?
Let me see. I must have missed that.
Because I DVD art something. It was the commercial and it said today and mine. I mean, I watched
that today. I think DVD R lives in the future. Well, then somebody owes me some money.
Let's live where Jill's came from.
Yes, you know, it's possible. It's possible. Your DVR could be British. My DVR is British.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. I like the cover. Also this week bridge of spies.
Greatness, which we saw. Batman bad blood, which will also have the trailer for Justice League
versus Teen Titans, which looks pretty cool as well. Chad's already got his money saved up,
so he can get to the store on Tuesday to buy the last witch hunter. Also, Carol, a lot of you said
a word. No, I mean, because Carol, truth and suffragette all hit Blue Ray and DVD this week.
Our brand is crisis, which you said you were really a big fan of. I wouldn't saw that. Rocked a
cassava, which I was excited about, but I've heard that horrible thing. It got decimated by the critics.
And Big Stone Gap, which stars the Ashley Judd. Basically, the Big Stone Gap is the
name of the city. It's small town. She lives in and there's life in love and learning things about things.
Charlotte according to target.com. It says pick up date in stores on release date.
February 2nd. But it says I can go ahead and buy it right now online.
Well, you can buy it. You can buy it. Pick it up until Tuesdays. Yeah, they won't ship it until Tuesday.
Let's said today on my DVR. Lots of. Told you your TVR lives in the future. Lots of lots of
thrones of lies being sat up on. British DVR.
Let's do some tech corner stuff real quick. Sam's song is opening a VR movie studio.
And they've got a partnership with Sundance for one year. So you can get there. They're going to be
filming movies that would be the specifically for things like Oculus RAM.
Rift Oculus Rift. Oh, and I read earlier today that circuit cities make an
a comeback. That's weird as more of like as best buys doing so well. Well, I know what I think
they're from what I gathered. They're making it more like like they showed a mock-up of what the
store is going to look like. And it looks like an Apple store or a Microsoft store.
They're not going to go. They're not going to spread themselves as thin with as much product.
They're going for more high-end stuff. And almost like they're going for like a sharper image
high-tech angle. And that's going so well. I'm just saying that they're they're they're
they're looking to open like a hundred to a hundred twenty stores. Five bucks says they try to
put one in North Park. Oh, I'm sure they will. I'm just going to put it out there. I'm not sure how
will go over but that's probably because they already have an Apple store and a Microsoft store
and kind of get in there somehow. But they don't have a thinking store. That needs to happen.
Just saying. Well, there's only one of those around right? Yeah, right now. Anything else
for a tech corner that you have? No, I just thought the circuitity thing was we're new month tomorrow.
So new month of Xbox Gold tomorrow. And are you going to are you looking for the Gold stuff? Do you
you trying to look at a habit to look? I look because if it's free. I mean, it's worth looking
into. But I'm not going to download it if I don't care. But is there anything of note this past month
that caught your eye or anything? Not really. I haven't downloaded things. I think since we
didn't got the Tomb Raider thing. Have you even touched that thing? Did you down haven't
barely been home? Trying to keep my DVR manageable because mine's American, so it takes longer to
get rid of it. Yes, we have to bring up the UK DVR in tech corner. Our listeners did your
pro like what are they doing? What did we do to you? All right, let's get to the list, shall we? Okay.
We had every show the list. This particular week is no exception. The list belongs to me.
And there was a time in the past where Chad did a list of the top 10 films that suffered
from the, well, they called the sophomore curse, where a hard slump whatever you want to call it.
And artists has a great first album and then their second album kind of sucks. And there's
so many examples of that. So I thought I'd kind of go the other way with it this week.
Bans that I felt their second album was better than their first album. And there's going to be
a couple that are a little obscure here, but nothing that I think is going to be so out of
out of bounds that you won't really know who they are. This first one, probably going to surprise you
at number 10.
You know what this is? No idea. I'll let the bubble come in, see if you're out.
I had this on vinyl. You'll probably be able to say that about a lot of albums on this list.
Just so 80's metal, it's amazing.
And he's second now winning for Spinal Tap to kick in.
So these guys live a few years ago in D-Bellam. Well that gave it away.
At first I think an iron maiden? Striper. Soldiers under command. Yellow and black attack a good
album, but this album went insane. Now of course the one that comes after it to hell with the devil
is the one that just went completely not so. But this album, as good as yellow and black attack
was, this one was even better for me. And the cover of this so 80's are sitting in front of a yellow
and black leaf, like tricked out and the elements and they've got like weapons and so it's so 80's.
Number nine. And this one can be kind of debated and I'll tell you why in the era of
minute. Of course we all know who this is, correct? Oh yeah, Charlie. Yes. Who was this?
I'll go. Thank you. This was actually called Chicago 2. Okay over there. It's my back.
I've never seen your face contort like that. Because remember what the first album was called,
correct sir? The original name of the band. Oh yes, uh, go ahead. Chicago trends at
30. Yeah. What would they want to say in the second album? They sure need to Chicago. So some
people argue like, like, this is technically the first Chicago album. It's called 2. I'm going with it.
It's but this song alone. Like this, this song starts the album. This one actually haven't
vinyl too. Like I said, you're probably going to be saying that a lot on this list. Number eight,
I didn't have anything from this album. I need to go get this album. I don't why don't have it. But I
had to go with a, with a cover from it. Um, this, this actually was the very first album that has
ever been covered. Yeah, the entire album, the entire album in order was done in 95.
It's called Tapestry, Carol King. Tapestry revisited is amazing. This is Celine Dion doing
you make me feel like a natural woman. Um, this album really, because she was basically just a songwriter.
So the first album, people didn't really see her as a performer. This album hit it was over.
And this is an album I need to get, because there's so much great stuff on it. I feel the earth
move is on this album. I mean, that you need to check out the cover album. Tapestry revisited,
blessed union of souls, her, um, it was, it surprised me that a reef I didn't do this.
A reef that does, you've got a friend with BB and CC wine and it's on this because she had already
done it. So, right, but why wouldn't you have her do this on this album on the cover album?
All for one does the title track. Very, very well. We're going to see them too. That's right.
Well, if you think about it, we're going to be hearing a lot of this stuff in a few months at the windspir.
Oh, yeah, because the Carol King is a very entertaining, a Carol King musical. Yeah. You have interest in this?
It's called Beautiful. Okay.
Number seven. Yes. Yes. I know I sound like BB is in butt head. Yes.
But, and you kind of have to grade this on a curve because all those shout at the devil was their second album.
You could kind of counted as their first album because too fast for love was basically a demo,
but it was released as an album. So I'm counting it.
And it's sad that you played all of striper's intro. I knew not one word. And an album called shout at the
devil. I know by the first guitar lick. What does that say about me? I used to have this on vinyl.
I don't know if I still do or not. I had like, I went through two copies of this cassette
and twisted sister stay hungry. Yes, I went through that phase. Twist it. Yes, I did.
Did you also have a little Billy Squire, too? No, I did not.
I thought I thought you were going to do a different direction and ask if you mocked the fashion.
I had Billy Squire to play the other day on my Pandora in the classroom and I broke it down for those
children. Which one was it? What song was it? The one I don't want to say out loud because it's kind of
an awkward word to me. Okay. Yeah, because you've been so awkward this whole episode.
Right, it was a book. Yes. Okay. At least that's not to video that everybody goes,
oh, you mean the dreaded rock mean a night? Yeah. But now I did on a pair of parachute pants because
just like the kid on the goldbergs. There's clothes in a parachute. Oh, yeah,
I'm wearing that. Exactly. The creation was on television. Number six, little obscure
butts. Their first album the bar was set so high because their first album was so amazing
that when this came out, I was very, very cautious. It was a day one purchase.
But I listened to it all the way through when it was amazing.
This song. This is one of the songs from my wife.
Yeah, this is tonic. Second album was called Sugar. This is the title track.
This album is so good. And again, I had them on a list recently of the top 10
90s bands. I can't believe haven't had the staying power. They should because they still got the same person out.
They're still together. They're still on their own. They were in town last year and I missed them.
Oh, that's right. That's right. Because we thought the weather was going to be bad. So we didn't go.
Them and gin blossoms were playing the same night at two separate places.
So good. You know where they get the name?
They've told me this. They found a picture of WC fields because now WC fields is always drunk.
And he had these rosy cheeks and they captioned said WC fields with gin blossoms.
That's what they called that.
Number five debate me. I'm going to forward this a little bit because the intro takes forever.
There we go.
Even though not everybody knows about King of Stage. And there's reasoning for that.
Can't stand today.
Nineteen 89. This album took the world by storm.
You want to talk about where an out of cassette tape? This guy, this album.
And one of the most late 80s, Audron B videos in the history of Ever.
Oh, we have a problem, sir. We do with your next entry. Was that third? Yes, it was. I thought it was second.
She had an eponymous one and she had one called Dream Street.
Did she? She's the one I remember. Yeah. She had an eponymous one.
Honestly, you could probably go with her brother on this one and be a safer bet.
But I count control. I always thought was her second album.
I know, because some people thought it was her first. I number four. Let's see. That's another thing.
Yeah. And again, with good reason. Yeah.
So I was going to use a title track, but the intro's like nine minutes long.
And I love the live video version of this. Oh, yes. Absolutely.
I mean, I get a little bit better than the actual. I remember the story behind this video
of the pleasure friends of the huh?
What somebody walked rolled up on her and let her know that she would never ever ever be the dancer her brother is.
And she said, Oh, really? And shot this video that day.
Oh, you? They just, I'm going to sound like such an old fogey, but they just don't too. How
them's like this. If he, oh, no, they don't. And it's so sad because I just, I remember being in high school
and just anytime a major artist had a major album coming out. And it was hit after hit after hit.
And every video was a masterpiece in its own right. And she was right there at the forefront of
that whole movement along with her brother. Number three. Oh, dear.
And this is universally regarded as one of a classic example of this. Let's step on two.
The godfather, two of rock-out will indeed.
I just have to let this play into the drums come in.
Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
Number two is a little obscure. But when you look at the lineup of her first album versus her second album,
Pet Benetars crimes a passion.
Now, again, doesn't have my favorite song by her on it, either one of the top two for me.
Could you know I'm a huge fan of both Wee Ballong and love as a battlefield.
I love the video for Wee Ballong.
You're still need to see Pitch Perfect too.
I know, it's on my head.
Because you're gonna like it if you like that song.
Shed did not like it.
You did not like Pitch Perfect too?
And I loved Pitch Perfect.
I love it.
I can't wait, put it third one.
And they are doing it.
And I didn't know what's up, Benetars, she's gonna direct it again.
I hope so, because she is freaking hilarious.
She's wearing this.
That movie, both of them.
She has the best, like, passive, aggressive face I've ever seen in my life.
And number one, even though Chad got sick of her new song this past week.
As good of an album as 19 is, 21 is just destroys it from track one all the way through.
And this is the first, this track is right near, if not at the beginning, I think.
I mean, this is the only song of hers that I like.
Really?
You listen to the rest of this album.
Everything else I cannot stand.
Really?
Because I'm a big fan of rumor has it.
I was like, that one I hate the most.
Really, I love fire to the rain.
Radio kill, rumor has it for me.
But again, don't listen to radio.
Don't worry about that problem.
And the new album is so amazing.
This is the opening track.
Yeah, so I think the debits they opening track.
rumor has it as the second was after that, right?
Okay, set fire to the arena, I think it's what we did.
Trying to figure out which one on the new album is it?
I think it's a million years ago was co-written by the Bruno Mars.
Oh, that makes sense.
Yeah, and they probably worked with Mark Ronson on it, too.
That wouldn't surprise me.
But yeah, it's 21 and 25 is even better.
I love 25, it's a great album.
It's good to see an artist who's career trajectory is always on the up swing,
instead of just doing the same thing or just getting worse.
Any honorable mentions?
Oh, you know what I'm going to say.
That prints the second album.
That's just an opening for me, Charlotte.
You know, I don't know that kind of stuff.
Fair enough.
And I would, but I don't ask you to can't say anything.
And I would say, and I would still say, Michael,
if you're if you're starting with off the wall,
I loved off the wall.
But thriller, really, come on.
Only the biggest selling album in history, right?
But if you're starting with off the wall,
like if you're, I mean, you kind of have to.
That's got to be the jumping off point for me.
I was, I was stunned not to see thriller on your list,
because to be that is the biggest shining example of one of the
big, big of which this week is the show time documentary
about off the wall.
And I'm definitely looking forward to it.
I've got to get the DDR set for that.
I'm trying to scroll and see.
It's okay, I mean, go top of your head.
That's the last floor, because it's, it's time.
Sound fresh through the plugs.
All right.
Ooh, every open.
