Sooner or Gator production.
No one's, no one's, no one's, no one's.
Good morning!
Joe, stop.
Are you ready for the jam?
I said are you ready for the jam?
Yo, jeet, kick it.
Drum is clean!
You goin' undefeated?
Keep it goin' now!
Terrace!
Hey!
Wait.
Hey!
Come bring.
Hello guys.
Are you ready for that?
Hey y'all, I'm bringing heat, beastin' all hot topics every week,
breaking news and I don't even try. It is 701 on the East Coast, it is 401 on the West Coast,
it is Sunday, September the 7th in the year of our Lord, 2014, means the club
houses live and on the air. It is season five, episode eight, numerically,
episode 267, not including special editions. We welcome you, no matter where you are
listening, whether you're listening live right here on Ustream, whether you're
listening on our archive, which some of you tend to do, or whether you subscribe
on iTunes. We don't care how you listen, we're just glad you're here. My name is Rob,
and I am ready for the weather to drop about 10 degrees here in about four days
in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Just, I just autumn get here now. We have a full
studio tonight, so let us introduce you to the players in the room, starting to
my left across the desk, sitting across from the desk from me as he tends to do
each and every Sunday night during our live shows, and sometimes during special
editions, is a man who's probably feeling like there's a team on television right
now, just about living up to expectation. He is also a producer of this show, he
is Chad Wilkinser, he called me a player. I did. Introducing the players. I'm the
first player you're introducing, so you're coming for players. If it gets you
through the night, moving on to his left as we go clockwise around the room is
the official fact checker of this show, and a man who's thought he had a
comfortable lead today, and things got a little squirrely on him in the second
half, you may know him as fun, Don, Go, but his mum and even Don Ford, I'm gonna
call him Don Ford. Welcome to the show, sir. A win is still a win.
W is a W, but you cannot tell me there was a little sweat going on that
route there for nice. I still wanted Johnny to play. Hey, Don, could you tell me
what a contra-bleed feels like? That man has a fair point. He has a fair point.
Because I would not have a clue in this town. Two very important guests joining us
also this evening. First to Don's left, friend of the show, and kind of helps us
keep our sanity when we're trying to get through marathon shows during film and
video festivals. She is one of our favorite people in the entire world. She is
Kelly Kitchens. Welcome to the show, my friend. Hello, thank you for having me.
She's been on Bridge. She's a friend of the show, a tear, beloved friend. She was on the show
briefly almost a year ago, but we've got her for the entire show tonight, and
this is important. There was some backdoor dealings made, some money was exchanged. I will
neither confirm nor deny. It's all I'm saying. There was in and out in the green room,
you know, in and out burger, in the green room. We just lost a wheel. And we're all gone.
And rounding out the day is tonight is a man who I am very excited to talk to,
and a man who a lot of the Empire is going to also be excited to hear from, but
we're not going to tell you why just yet because he's being too right about that. He's
welcome to the show. Hey, thanks a lot. Thanks for having me. It is our honor to have you
here, sir. You're going to find out later. There's a specific reason that he is here
that we're very excited to talk about. But first, we start every show with corrections.
Oh, I didn't even, I didn't get the, I didn't get the first correction. First corrections
robbed you up the right music. That would help. Second wheel gone. See, that's your problem,
gone. The problem that you face is you assume there's any wheels on this thing to begin with.
Oh, when are we always said we just get on axles and drive for two hours. That's all the
things that we're getting along. Oh, yeah. There are many, many sparks. This is a sled at this
point. There are many, many sparks on the information super high. We're on a skiff on pavement.
There's the music I need corrections. We didn't have a show last week. If we hope you had a
great holiday weekend, Grace D had a great show out in Grandbury, Texas for Biker Bash 2014.
It was hotter than blue blazes. I will tell you that much. It's Texas. But if you visit
the Grace D Facebook page, there are some video footage up from that. We had a really great
time. Thanks to everybody out there. And maybe another little Grace D announcement coming
later in the show during music. We got something coming up, but we're going to package that.
The show from the week before sounded clean to me unless you've got anything flawless victory.
Sound good. I wouldn't say it was a flaws. We got through it. Just like my Steelers. All right.
As we always do. I don't know if I'd put the word less or the syllable less on the end of that.
Maybe ED, not LESS exactly. Let us start as we do with NASCAR. That's what I need that.
Thank you, Mr. Headfield. Okay. So as of last night, the chase is set.
And we want to say a very big thank you to friend of the show, Barb Wire, who sent me a text last
night and gave me the exact breakdown of the chase. So I didn't have to look it up.
God bless that man. You ain't lying. Because for those of you that don't understand how this works.
First of all, neither do I. But you think tax forms are complicated. Up until this point,
the NASCAR point system has been very, very confusing. So what NASCAR decided to do was go ahead
and just make it more complicated. The chase actually starts next weekend.
There are 16 cars in the chase. And the way you got in the chase was if you win one race, you get in the chase.
And then we fill the slots from there. Now if you win multiple races, then there's rankings there end.
If you don't have 16 people that win races, then you go by the point system to separate it out.
So last night was the Federated Auto Parts 400.
Now that name I can get behind. Oh, there's more coming. Oh, I'm sure.
You're top 10 finishers are as follows. In 10th place, one of my favorite names to say.
Eric Almerola in the number 26 four. Oh, sorry, the 43 Ford in ninth place in the number 31 Chevrolet Ryan.
Hello, Newman. Eighth place in the number 48 Chevrolet six times six times six times six times six times six times spring come champion Jimmy Johnson.
41 Chevrolet belonging to Kurt Bush comes in seventh Joey Lugano in the number 22 Ford in sixth Kevin Harvick comes in fifth in the number four Chevrolet.
Jamie McMurray in the number one Chevy comes in fourth Clint Boer takes the bronze medal in the number 15 Toyota.
Jeff Gordon the rainbow warrior 24 Chevrolet comes in the silver medal and chats favorite driver.
Not anymore wins the last race before the chase Brad keselowski in the number two Ford.
So now here is how the chase lays out.
I have to pull my phone back up. Hold on just a moment.
No one's ever said I was fully organized on the show and of course a lovely and talented Mrs. Irvin is asking me questions when she knows the show was on the air.
That's what we do. You ain't lying. Okay, so Clint Boer comes in third in the race misses the chase by seven points.
So in 16th place Greg Biffle 15 Ryan. Hello, Newman.
14th Math Kenzeth in 13th AJ Almonddinger. That sounds like a like a sandwich from Denny's number 12 Eric Almerola number 11 Kurt Bush.
Number 10 Denny. No, I was not an LA law hamlin. Ninth place Kyle Bush. Eight Casey Kane seven Carl Backflip Edwards number six Kevin Harvick.
Six times six times six times six times six times six times six times spring cup champion Jimmy Johnson.
Joy Logano for Dale Earnhardt Jr. Now third in the chase because Jeff Gordon in second, but Brad keselowski with his fourth win of the year now is first in the chase.
Number Dale and Gordon have been fighting for that fun spot, but then keselowski gets the fourth win pulls ahead of them.
Now when the chase starts there's 10 races in the chase. It's an elimination system.
The last four get eliminated for the time. We get to the end of the year. Actually, I think it's two a week and we get down to four at the end of the year.
The last four are racing for the cup. Whoever wins first wins.
So we're closer to something making sense, but it still makes no sense now.
Interesting news coming down this week. The the pseudo NASCAR not the sprint cover used to be called the nationwide series.
Which was always the race the day before. That will no longer be the nationwide series.
Comcast has bought the naming rights to that thing through 2024. It will now be the Comcast Xfinity series.
Comcast Xfinity being their cable system. And if you have that, I feel really, really bad for you.
But starting next year, that will be happening. So where does the chase begin? Chad, I'm so glad you asked me that question.
Oh, yes. I'm I'm I'm I'd pins and needles. Yes. Next next Sunday, one o'clock Eastern on the S spin.
We go to the Chicago land speedway, we're located in Tulsa. So close. New Jersey. Not as close. Chicago, Illinois for the my a fib story.com 400.
That is the actual name of the racer. Stop it. I'm reading what's on the screen. I can't make stuff up this good.
Can you repeat that again to my the my a fib story.com. I guess these are the people that give stories about their lives being saved by the fibrelators.
Okay. So that I thought I'm going. I mean, that's I'm very some of these NASCAR race names baffle me and it's very, very bad.
But that'll be next Sunday on the S spin. And if you're watching that instead of football, just call me and I'll come over and beat you with a stick.
Okay. Record the NASCAR race. Watch it later because it's football season.
You are listening to the clubhouse. We are your one stop shop for all things sports and entertainment.
So let's flip the coin and do a little TV talk. Shall we kids?
Oh. You expected something else?
The background music. The background music on this show is its own character.
We've said we talked with people are just listening for the first time. We got a couple people in our live chat room.
Very important to be in the chat room tonight because you might have stuff to give away. I'm just saying.
So hemlock grow, which is a Netflix series. It's had two seasons now. One of the stars of this show. One of my favorite actors, Aaron Douglas.
He gets a pass with me because he was on Battle Star Galactica.
Hit in the Fatke Janssen as to.
Yes, sir. You are correct.
The Xenia on the top.
And probably we're creeping up on the 20th anniversary.
A gene gray.
But it gets renewed for a third and final season on the Netflix, which I think that's where they're only going for was three seasons.
Unfortunately, as I like to say on this show.
Never watched an episode.
But I've heard good things.
I don't think I can allow yourself to get that bog down with another series.
Yeah, this is true.
I'm caught up on the oranges and new black in the cards.
Those are both in my.
I never got to the hemlock.
I've only got caught up on the oranges and new black in the second season.
I think I'm finally under 140 recordings on my DVR.
Is that all?
OK.
But I think we're going to go back over 100 tonight because Boardwalk Empire starts tonight.
So final season.
So ready for Boardwalk.
And one thing I want to add that's not on a run sheet.
Please do.
Since a vanarchy season premiere final season.
I thought it was last.
No, this coming Tuesday.
Two hour premiere.
The final season.
Are you going to need some tissues?
Yeah, like when 24 thought ended for, you know, last season eight.
But start up again, but you never know.
Yeah, I know.
Yeah.
I'm not saying rumors are strong.
And I'm not saying rumors aren't strong.
I still got all of live another day sitting on my DVR.
I have not gotten to watch any of it.
But I will.
I promise.
This I will promise.
Because now I've caught up on two more shows this weekend.
So I'm getting closer.
But I still haven't watched any of this season of the Vinci's demons either.
So my wife's like, can we please have some more room on the DVR?
And I'm like, you have 13 episodes of Duck.
I just think you're right of them.
Also, we know that two weeks from tomorrow is a huge day in the geek community.
Because two weeks from tomorrow on the Fox Network at eight o'clock Eastern,
we get the premiere of Gotham.
And I cannot wait.
I cannot wait either because I'm sick of seeing the same promos over.
From what all you want.
Don't care.
It's Gotham and it's Donald Logan.
I'm good.
Are you guys in for it?
Oh, yeah.
I am not.
No, OK.
I mean, you know, it's not that I would hate to watch it.
I'm just sure it's not going to end up something I see.
But Netflix has already picked up the streaming rights for it.
Wow.
They outbid Hulu.
Apparently.
What's the delay time going to be?
They haven't said yet.
I've got to remember Netflix has not done the day after something air streaming thing yet.
So this may be a first for them.
Oh, they have.
Oh, they have.
Netflix has?
Yes, they have.
What?
Spartacus.
Did they really have to deal with stars?
Exactly.
You're right.
But didn't they didn't do it with like Magic City or anything else like that?
Or just the Spartacus?
I think it ended with, by the way, Spartacus will be airing on sci-fi.
Starting next month.
They're going to re-air all the old episodes.
They're going to be about, they're going to be about 10 minutes.
They're going to be like, they're going to be the length of a trailer.
I'm just saying.
But Netflix has taken up the streaming rights.
I'm very excited.
Because I'm getting that.
Within like three weeks I'm getting that.
I'm getting arrow and I'm getting the flash.
Let's start trying to put pole fiction on the Disney Channel.
I just don't.
It doesn't make sense to me.
But speaking of the flash.
We're going to have a bit of a, we're going to have a bit of a prison break reunion.
Sometimes it's a stretch.
We're going to have a bit of a prison break reunion as dominant Purcell is going to play
Heat Wave on the flash.
So all the ladies that were fans of him and his tattoos and Kelly is racing her head.
Well, who else and on flashes was in prison break?
Ah.
If you hadn't asked me, I could have told you.
You called it a reunion.
I'm like, who else?
Yeah, there's, there's, there's somebody else in the cast that's involved.
And now let me, let me look at that.
Please do talk.
She locked my brain up on that.
Now, fans of Arrow, which, hey, that's me.
Season three kicks off the first week in October.
They are doing digital comics that are going to bridge seasons two and three together.
To start getting you prepared because kind of they kind of opened a can at the end of season two.
That kind of made you go, okay, we thought we were done with the origin storyline.
No, there's, we found another layer.
So I think they're going to start giving us a little bit of background preparing us for season three
because the trailers I've seen for season three, they're jamming a lot of stuff into this.
Which concerns me on a certain level, but right now the creators of that show have a pass with me
because that show is so good.
Went worth Miller.
Went worth Miller.
They were the brothers and sons for some break.
Yeah, yeah, that's done.
That's trying to get his name and that's what I thought it was.
So, Chad, did you, did you, did you, have you started to get caught up in Arrow yet?
No.
Okay.
Put that on the list.
Okay.
So, let me get first though.
Well, yeah, you're in the middle of that and I haven't even started that either.
I, I have shame for that.
Let's move on though.
Because I'm really interested, Chad, in your opinion on this next story.
Okay.
DC now is developing a television show based on Supergirl.
Which on one point, on one hand, I kind of go, all right.
But then I find out that DC pitched it to the CW and the CW passed on it.
Yikes.
That's, that's not a good sign.
Well, I mean, well, I give it a shot, of course I will.
But they haven't said where it's going to land yet.
Yeah, because she flies.
Oh, you know what?
That was unintentional comedy.
You're welcome.
You're welcome internet.
Well, I mean, but think about it.
Look at where Gotham is.
It ain't on CW.
It's on Fox.
But it wasn't pitched to CW first.
Well, I'm just saying.
It doesn't have to be on CW.
My first inclination was I think Fox would be a good home for it.
Because she know what it going to be on ABC.
Let's be honest.
CBS wouldn't carry it.
No.
NBC still has a ways to go with me after trying that debacle that was the Wonder Woman pilot.
Yeah.
True.
I don't know if you guys know about the Wonder Woman pilot that NBC had.
No.
Yeah.
It was by the guy who did Ali McBeal.
Oh, okay.
Strike one.
Yeah.
He tried to use the same formula with Wonder Woman.
Really?
Yes.
Where in one of the opening scenes, she's sitting on her bed depressed because it's a two, two
kind of ice cream kind of day.
Hold on.
What?
She is an Amazonian princess.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
He tried the Ali McBeal formula with Wonder Woman and the pilot was horrific.
Yeah.
Her costume was horrific.
She looks great.
I was on board with Adrienne Polake.
You don't get me wrong.
Her as an actress.
Yes.
She had on like blue hot pants.
Yeah.
Hot pants.
It was.
It was bad.
She looked like a disco.
That's why I don't think.
I didn't think anything else.
And remember how well, uh, the Bionic woman did with them.
Didn't that go like five episodes with Katie Sackoff?
Yeah.
Half of the season.
And we finished the whole thing up.
And one word.
Heroes.
Drop the mic.
After first, after season one.
Because season one was genius.
Oh, yeah, yeah.
I'm waiting for the new miniseries next year.
I'm very excited for it.
Huh?
They're doing a new miniseries of, uh, of Heroes next year.
Heroes reborn.
Mm-hmm.
So I just, I wouldn't be on NBC.
I think Fox would be your only viable option.
Probably.
Especially.
I can't.
It's kind of surprised the CW passed.
But then again, they, they, they decide they were going to pass on their Wonder Woman series 2 Amazon.
Which I think is weird.
Probably because they probably saw the pilot.
No, no, no, no.
This was a difference here.
They were going back to her origins.
Kind of like smallville.
This wasn't the same thing because NBC had that.
I just think that it's high time that we have some television programming in this superhero era that we're living in.
That you can have some positive female role models that aren't just pining for said hero.
Yeah.
Well, thank you.
I like that.
I just, I don't understand why nobody thinks that that Wonder Woman or Supergirl is a viable franchise.
And now granted, we can ignore the Helen Slider movie in the 80s.
That's okay.
But I just, I think it's high time.
And I think it would be received very, very well because as much as the male geek community has become accepted,
part of the reason it's become accepted is because the female geek community has become accepted.
And, you know, you get the women, you get the men.
That's just, that's, that's, that's simple.
Yeah.
And why make this happen?
Yeah.
I don't get it.
Because all you got to do is go to one comicon and you can see it.
Believe it.
And we've been to a few.
Uh-huh.
We got another one coming up next month.
Geeksheak is major.
Major.
So, in other news that I don't know that anybody in this room is going to be interested in,
the view has wounded out, rounded out its dais with Rosie Perez and Nicole Wallace,
who is a former housewife of some form show person.
Could you do, could you listen to Rosie Perez?
Hell no.
Why don't I get Franch Resher on there while you're at it?
Somewhere Barbara Walters is going, God out at the right time.
Rosie Perez is a walking car alarm.
Now, I like Rosie Perez.
Don't get me wrong.
She's cute, never think, but dead.
But boy, do I need her political opinions?
Now, if I need food that's not going to let it cue, I'm good.
She's my go-to for that.
When I saw two long food and saw John Legg was on my own drag, I went, what did they get
Rosie Perez in this food?
Wow.
That's right, I'm excited.
That was Chad Wong, the ladies and gentlemen.
Chad at theclubhousepodcast.com for all hate mail.
But in his defense, he was the most attractive male, female character in that cast.
Just lost some luck, that's me.
Yeah, that, that, that, that.
I'm not sure.
I've not tried using that phrase following that line.
Too late, it's out there.
I'll take it back.
Sometimes I wonder why we don't edit this show before it goes out, but now I know.
How's that chewtaste, man?
And guys, guys, every week we do.
Yeah, this is, this is not just tonight.
Also, I don't know if you saw, but the, that Fox is doing their own version of the talk
view concept called the real.
Oh, yeah.
Oh, God.
And when I saw the name Lonnie Love, I went out.
Out.
Without when she was on star search and still continue to be.
Why VH1 keeps hiring her is beyond me.
But I guess everybody's got to make a living.
So I read this next story yesterday.
I'm very intrigued by it.
NBC is working on a new sitcom called Hospitality, which takes place.
You're welcome.
In a hotel.
But which in itself, you're like, okay, Rob, this has been done a million times before.
And you're right.
However, they want to do the whole thing live, including commercials.
So they're going whale school on this.
They're going to get Westing House as a sponsor and general electric.
Chesterfield cigarette chocolate nuts coffee.
But you know what?
Why not?
That's kind of cool.
I'm down with it.
I'm down with it.
I, I love the, um, Barnes and Alan show.
And it would throw in, you know, the, the carnation milk.
Yes.
And Gracie, Alan would say, I didn't know that carnations could create milk.
Which is why we love Gracie.
Exactly.
Indeed, we did.
And this spokesperson was the next door neighbor or something.
And he would come in and say, let's talk about carnation milk.
I know.
Awesome.
And that one, but see, that was the genius of television back then.
And to me, that's the genius of live television when 30 Rock did it.
Yeah.
The last couple of seasons.
Right.
You just to know, but what you're watching is what's happening.
And what I loved about when 30 Rock did it is they did it twice.
They did it once for the East Coast and once for the West Coast.
So both, both coasts got to experience that.
Yeah, I did it too.
When George Clooney was in here.
But I believe he directed that episode if I'm not mistaken.
I'm not sure.
Yeah.
I just, I love the concept of live TV because it's out there.
You know, say what you want to about SNL and some of it I will agree with.
Part of the genius that that show still has, which is why it's going into season 40 this month,
is because that live element where anything can and will happen.
And I know you've been out for a long time.
Yeah.
I respect your opinion.
You've been out for the better part of two decades now.
On that show, absolutely.
And they still haven't said what they're doing with the cast.
Yeah.
Because there's a lot of people not coming out.
A lot of them left.
Yeah, and some of them, they're not bringing back.
Which I'm kind of like they were, they're not bringing back.
From what I'm told, the guy that did the,
what character.
He kind of does most of their stoner characters now.
He's off the show.
He was only on for like a half a season.
He hired him as a writer and then they brought him on.
And now I can't remember his name either.
But he, I heard him on the Bob and Tom show recently and he's cool with it.
He's like, look, I had a good run.
Yeah.
Because I was only supposed to be a writer and all of a sudden I'm on the show.
And if this experiment works, I'd like to see if the live commercials thing take,
if they'll do that on SNL and carry it over.
Why not?
That'd be awesome.
Because I remember, they did that for a brief, brief period.
So we talked just a minute ago about the Walking Dead,
which Chad is getting caught up on.
And I'm hugely, hugely into.
And I'm wondering if this next, this next story might be six months later than it should.
But we'll roll with it.
There has been a spin-off Greenlit for the Walking Dead.
But it's going to take place in a different part of the world.
Because what a lot of fans have been asking is,
why can't we see how the outbreak has affected other parts of the planet?
Because we know the way the outbreak works, it can't have just been in America.
So they mold it over and they've decided, yeah, let's go ahead and do a spin-off
and do it somewhere else in the world and see how it's affecting other cultures.
And the entire current creative team is involved.
Where are they?
They haven't announced it yet.
They haven't announced it yet.
Any ideas or is anybody other than me watching the show?
I haven't seen it in a while, but I liked it when it saw it.
Right into it, Caledon.
Yeah, because it's unidirectional.
There you go.
You're good.
Oh, that's much better.
Yes.
Now, his daughter, absolute not over it.
His cousin, who's over in the other room watching the cowboy game right now,
by the way, only down 11 with two minutes to go.
No, not only my friend.
Also a big fan.
I want to be a fan, but I have to catch up on everything else first.
Personally, I'd love to see it happen in the Middle East.
That's going to be tricky given the current climate.
That's why I'm interested in it.
It's going to be something that you're going to have to really tread lightly with.
And you're, I don't know that it can be treated with.
I think you'd have to have too much kid gloves given the current climate
because everyone's so sensitive right now.
I think you're leaving yourself open to a lot of unnecessary backlash,
depending on how you treat it.
I just got the music in there.
Okay, welcome.
Never heard this version of it.
That's why I picked this version because I knew it was going to take you a minute.
I would like to maybe see it in the far east.
Asia.
South Pacific.
Church.
That was a quick two minutes.
I'd like to see it happen either in the UK or or the don't.
I don't want to hear zombies talk like that from London.
Sometimes I don't have to do the comedy.
He knows it's coming.
He just he likes to stick that screw in because I have a I have a wife from from the UK.
And it's one of my favorite lines from saving ceremonials when Paul Rudd looks at me and says,
you sound like you're from London.
And I want to hit him.
I want to stab him with a car every time he says.
But it seemed like that was one of the rumored spots was possibly Scotland.
I'd be on board with that.
I said they were rumoring Scotland or Afghanistan.
And I was like, that's why I want to.
Middle East.
Yeah, that'd be kind of interesting.
I like the Scotland idea.
I'd rather go to Scotland.
From a scenery standpoint alone, I think that would be really cool.
And then I'll walk this monster as a zombie.
You get it.
Hey, you get it right to be welcome to Coolsville sign and then Don just turns the car around.
There you go.
Brains.
Oh, there's Don.
You walk.
Walk past him.
I'm going to pray for you.
Sorry.
You need Jesus.
You are listening to the clubhouse.
We are live every Sunday, seven Eastern for Pacific.
If you miss any piece of the show, it will be available to you on archive almost immediately
after we go off the air or subscribe on iTunes because it's doing whatever you want.
Because now it's time for P.O.I.
P.O.I stands for Person of Interest and is a segment we do on this show where we take a person
or an entity and we debate their greatness or lack thereof.
The pendulum swings back to me this week.
And had we done a show last week, this would have been last weeks, but we chose not to do a show
and we can't turn back the hands of time.
Person of Interest this week is something that I find to be a bit of a conundrum personally.
It is the Little League World Series.
Just wrapped up last weekend.
America, we did not win.
But that's okay.
Because we're all winners in America.
I don't know.
That's why we have entitlement.
That's true.
That's a fair point.
But I like the fact that this is an actual world series that they play.
But is it though?
Because we have teams from all over the world that play each other and then the winner of that plays us.
If it's a true world series, shouldn't it be more like I don't know the World Cup
where we play everybody?
It resembles a world series more than the Major League Baseball World Series.
Fair point.
That's a fair point.
But I'm kind of of two minds in a Little League World Series.
Because one, I think it's cool that we get to see these kids go out there and play their hearts out.
I'm all for the spirit of competition and the spirit of good sportsmanship as we've talked about many times on this show.
It starts when the kids are young, teaching them good sportsmanship now is what will carry them for the rest of their lives.
But the other side to that coin is,
do we need to have these kids on national television at 13 and 14 years old?
I do not envy the pressure that these kids have to be under.
Mona Davis, who was a big story this year, young lady who...
Girl can throw a baseball.
Yeah.
Let's be honest.
She was smoking it.
I mean, I love when they were asking her, you know,
what do you think about all this media pressure?
And she looked at the reporter and she goes, I can always say no.
Like, that was cool.
But that is such a rarity with some of these kids that who are, you know, some of them are just at the age where girls aren't icky anymore.
And we're going to put them on national television on ESPN with a camera steering right down their face and don't get me started on the parents.
No kidding.
And I know this thing has been going on for longer than I have walked the planet.
But I kind of feel like this thing has gotten to a point where everybody wants to be the network that says,
oh, we filmed them at the Little League World Series in their 12 and now they're a Sai Young award-winning pitcher.
So let's go back and look at this footage.
And it's more about that than it is more than teaching these, teaching the lessons that need to be taught.
The commentators are talking like they're calling a major league baseball game and that ain't what this is.
Right.
You know, talk about how these kids are learning these lessons.
Talk about, you know, yes, you can talk about form and you can talk about things of that nature.
But also talk about the lessons these kids are learning so that the kids that are at home watching can learn the same lessons.
Now, that being said, I am a childless individual.
The lovely and talented Mrs. Irvin and I do not have any children.
There are at least two people in this studio who have children, some more grown.
But those of you that have kids, I mean, where do you come, where do you fall on this thing?
Kelly, what's up with you?
Well, I'm a new parent.
Yes, you are.
Congratulations, by the way.
Thank you.
I'm a seven-month-old parent of a 16-year-old girl.
Yeah, do the math.
I, I, I, wow.
I may have gone to public school, but I think I can figure this one out.
Well, we adopted her out of foster care.
And that is a wonderful, wonderful thing by the way.
Right.
Thank you.
She's, she's awesome.
Hi, Juliette, if you're listening.
I'm like, she better be.
You know, Juliette is very talented.
She is an incredible singer.
She's an artist.
She loves to write.
She, she's very creative.
And, you know, frankly, I'm kind of glad that she's 16.
Because when we move into the, the world of her wanting to perform,
because she really wants to go on the voice.
And she took an American Idol workshop this, this summer.
You know, and so she, she is fully preparing herself to do something of that nature.
But, you know.
But that's also a pressure cooker in itself.
It is.
It is.
And as a publicist and seeing the world through, through my eyes.
Which is a unique perspective given to what, given what she wants to do.
Exactly.
You know, I would want her to wait till she's older.
I mean, just so that she can handle it.
You know, because there is so much hatred.
And, you know, when people putting people down, that I, you know, I don't want,
I wouldn't, I wouldn't want that for myself and I wouldn't want that for her.
And like I said, you have the unique perspective not only as a parent,
but as a publicist.
So, you know that side of it.
Yeah.
And so, I mean, do those two sides tug at each other a lot for you?
Well, like I said, I'm seven-month-old parents.
But then, that's enough to be good.
That's seven months more than I got.
They're not.
But, you know, I mean, there's still things I'm thinking about.
Things that are new, new conversations for me.
And, whereas I haven't grown up with her as she's grown up.
Fair point.
And so, I'm not sure.
That would be a really good one for Keith to answer, because I know you guys.
Yeah.
As a parent of.
I have a 17-year-old and a 20-year-old.
Oh, wow.
Okay.
20-year-old son, 17-year-old daughter.
And, you know, I feel the same way you were speaking about, you know,
are these kids really old enough to be under this kind of microscope.
And I think it really depends on the kid.
Because my daughter started dancing competitively when she was two.
Oh, wow.
She danced all the way up until last year.
And she, you know, would go to nationals.
She, you know, she's under a lot of scrutiny.
There's a lot of judging going on, because that's what dance competitions are.
And she handled it great.
She thrived on that.
And she loved going to competition.
And, you know, sometimes if she didn't do as well or her team didn't do as well as she'd hoped,
then, you know, it's hard when you're young.
It's hard when you're older.
I mean, you know, you get a bad review on something.
You know, then it's like, oh my gosh.
But, you know, with my son, he's a little quieter.
He's the both very creative kids.
But, you know, he's a little more introspective.
And, you know, I would feel probably a little more at ease with her under the microscope than him,
just because she's so used to it.
I mean, she's grown up with it.
Okay.
It's a fair point.
And that's so interesting.
You have two kids within the same house, but maybe different levels of acceptance they're in.
Yeah.
I mean, it's one of the things I've found with a lot of people that have kids, you know, two, three, four kids,
and how unique each child is.
Like, there's a big personality pie that's baked, you know, by mom.
And each kid gets a slice.
And, you know, one kid will be the one that's very gregarious now going.
And then the other ones will quiet, maybe more artistic and creative.
And the other one is more athletic.
And it's amazing how different kids within the same household can be.
Well, Chad, you have one daughter, who is my goddaughter.
And she's around this same age as well.
Yes.
Not a kid that was ever really competitive into a lot of things, especially growing up.
Right.
How do you see it from your standpoint?
The thing that would concern me the most, if she were going through something like this would be,
I would be terrified for her about how the media treated it.
How the media may have hounded her.
And being members of the media, as several of us are in this room,
Therna, pretty much most of us are in this room.
We know how vicious the machine can get.
And not only are they dealing with the pressure of what they have to do on a performance level,
but they have to make sure that their head doesn't get so swollen that it collapses under, under the weight of it.
I mean, you and I have had this conversation several times about kids that come out of college into the pros
and how you feel like they should have a fame counselor.
Every NCAA school should have one.
Now, take that and you remove the maturity, if there isn't anything in here,
they come out of college into the pros, but you remove that maturity of just the extra added years of experience
in high school and college and you're on a 12 to 13 year old level, dear God in heaven.
You know, when you thrust a kid like this into the spotlight that has a,
hey, all I want to do is throw a baseball.
You know, and you will find some in scrupulous slime bag reporters that will find anything they can
just to discredit this poor kid who all they want to do is play.
And they make it about, well, they got drunk at a sleepover because somebody brought a six pack of beer.
You know, got for a bit, you know.
For the Danny Almonte thing where they had to dig up his birth certificate and he may or may not have been old enough
because they couldn't find the right one in the country that he was from.
And it just turned into this debacle.
And again, this poor kid is like, I just want to play baseball.
All I want to do is throw a baseball.
Exactly.
Not to make a cliche out of that, but that's what it all boils down to.
All these kids want to do is play.
Period.
And I think when you put too many cameras on it and too many spotlights on it,
it loses the reason why they're there.
But again, spend more time on the principles of the thing.
Right.
Take some time and I remember back when I was a kid and you'd watch shows like that,
they break away to somebody like a Johnny Bench or, you know, somebody like
Hank Aaron that would say, okay, here's the basics of here's how you swing it back.
You know, something worked that into it.
Yeah.
And this is why, you know, when this kid throws this ball, this is why the ball goes this way.
The science of it.
And the sad part is that, you know, like that girl who got on the national stage this year,
even though it wasn't her, she didn't want it.
She just wanted to play and now she's on the national stage.
There is a lot of dark sites to be on the national stage.
Absolutely.
People say on Facebook about that.
Exactly.
There will be stalkers who will stalk them.
And, you know, you name it.
I honestly believe in the dark side in the case of Monet Davis.
I think she sees it correctly.
And I think going forward and we're going to talk about her a little bit in our next segment,
because something came up with her this week in the news and sporting news,
which...
But I think she's handling it correctly.
And it's...
That's one child.
Yeah.
Oh, no.
We're going to say yeah.
Hundreds more.
Yeah.
Totally.
But I think this is a really good discussion on this topic.
And we'd like to know what you think.
You can, you know, say something on our Facebook page.
You can send me an email.
I am Rob at the clubhousepodcast.com.
And we'll...
We share those.
I got a great idea for a list.
We're going to do here in a few weeks from a friend of the show.
We do read all the emails you send us.
And you can email Don, Don at the clubhousepodcast.com.
We love doing remote shows.
And Kelly's going to work with us one here in just about four weeks.
We're going to talk about here in just a little while.
Yeah.
But right now, we're going on campus right about now.
Huh.
Hit the post.
Shit.
It's on the post.
It's on the post.
Football is back.
Football is back.
All is right in the universe.
Did I just sound like mort from...
Oh my god.
I just...
I was right in the universe.
Played eight.
That's Jerry Lewis.
I know.
But week two of college football has wrapped up.
But before we get to college football, I want to talk about the University of Connecticut.
As we talked about Monet Davis in the last segment.
Uh...
Yukon has been hit with a secondary recruiting violation.
Uh-oh.
Monet Davis said to interview that she's actually...
She prefers basketball to baseball.
And she wants to play for Yukon.
Well...
Gino Ariema gave her a call just congratulator to how great of a player she was.
He checked with his compliance department.
They said it was okay.
The NCAA said it wasn't.
The NCAA is saying that he could not contact her until she was 16.
He was like, hold the phone.
This isn't even a recruiting call.
I just heard she was a fan.
I wanted to give her a call and congratulator.
And I think Mike Wilbon on PTI said it best when he said...
Gino Ariema wasn't recruiting Monet Davis.
Monet Davis was recruiting Gino Ariema.
Let's be clear on this.
Which I heard that and I was like, really?
The NCAA is going to wonder why all these big schools are going to break away
and do their own thing in the next five years.
This is an example.
Especially if he checked with his compliance department at the university
whose job it is to know the NCAA rules and regulations.
And they do it anyway.
But there's that.
I wanted to throw that out there.
Gino Ariema has nine champion chips.
12 final fours.
How does it need to recruit?
He just shows up with a ring on every finger and goes,
you see these?
You want one of these?
But let's talk some college football scores.
Mizzou number 24.
Reminding Toledo of who they are.
And if you saw my post yesterday on on the Twitter at Yes That Rob Urban that is spelled E-R-V-I-N.
Toledo's uniforms, the numbers looked like the people from Archer did them.
Because it's a strange phone.
It was very strange.
Oklahoma showing Tulsa the door in their house.
52 to 7.
Number 18.
Badger Badger Badger Badger Badger Badger Badger Wisconsin.
All over Western Illinois.
37 to 3.
Nebraska.
A little bit of a scare with McNeese.
McNeese state, but they win by seven.
Number two Alabama, who in the new polls,
have been passed up.
It's already done.
Yeah.
Has been passed up by Oregon.
But they win big against Florida Atlantic.
I graduated high school in there in gymnasium.
41 to nothing.
And number 23.
Oh dear God, South Carolina state.
I hope you got a big check because you lost 73 to 7.
Wow.
USC Stanford.
This was a much better game than it had to be.
Stanford really hung in there.
This thing I believe was scoreless in the second half.
But they only lose by a field goal.
Mississippi State.
Ole Miss.
That's not in Mississippi.
That's Mississippi.
Ole Miss.
American loses to Oregon.
46 to 27.
Auburn opens up a can on San Jose State.
Arizona State wins huge over New Mexico.
58 to 23.
South Carolina escapes barely against East Carolina.
East Carolina is a program that is on the rise.
I have a couple of friends from high school that win there.
The Pirates.
33-23 year final there.
Notre Dame and Michigan.
Hunter the battle cat has rejoined us.
You gonna sit there?
Okay. Good boy.
Notre Dame, Michigan yesterday.
A storied rivalry.
One of my favorite games to watch every year.
But it will be no more.
After yesterday, Notre Dame and Michigan will not play each other
ever again.
I'm very sad about this.
But Notre Dame wins the last contest.
39.
That's a word.
One team in the country floored a state.
37 to 12 over the citadel.
Play somebody.
Baylor.
Oh boy.
Decide they're gonna host Northwestern State
and then show them the door.
70 to 6.
Geez.
One of Mikey's alma mater, Sam Houston State decides they want to go to death valley
and find out what that means as a LSU hangs 56 to their nothing.
Lamar College goes to A&M 73 to 3.
However, your biggest story of the day.
UCLA beats Memphis, North Carolina beats San Diego State.
Number 8 Ohio State loses to unranked Virginia Tech.
35-21.
So things are getting, you know, Braxton Miller out for the year.
One of their star players.
This was a tough deal for them.
But what do we always say in college football?
Lose early.
Lose early if you're going to lose
because you have plenty of time to get back in it
and now with the new playoff system.
By the way, and I haven't said it on the show,
so I'm gonna say it right now.
I hate that trophy.
It looks like a vase.
That is one of the ugliest trophies I have ever seen
in my 41 years walking this planet.
That was terrible.
Looks like a gear shift on a star ship.
Really nice.
That's America.
But you know what, we get the playoffs
and then we get an ugly trophy.
So there's a tradeoff there.
That my beloved Florida Gators opening a can yesterday.
Even though yes, it was Eastern Michigan State.
But it was a confidence victory that they needed
to get the ship right here.
Because most champ seats getting kind of warm
and I don't know if I agree with it just yet.
But they won South Florida won as well.
So it was a good college day football for me personally.
We don't get the BCS rankings,
which really don't mean a hell of beans
and the grand scheme of things.
But those rankings don't come out for another five weeks,
I believe.
It's usually mid-October right after
the milestone we use in this town
is the OU Texas game.
That is the weekend that the BCS rankings
become a thing.
So we've got what four weeks left
and sell that.
Four or five.
Because the Texas State fair starts up in two weeks.
Very excited.
We forgot to do that list, Chad.
What's that?
The new fair food.
So we have to do that next week.
Let's go to the other side of that coin
because as of Thursday night,
all is right in the world
because the NFL is back.
And what a day of NFL football we had today, kids.
Woo!
Man.
Week one started Thursday night.
If you anybody doubted
your defending Super Bowl champions,
you don't now.
Green Bay.
Traveled cross country to go see Seattle.
And then
Yelp, like a sculled dog.
They got spanked.
36 to 16.
Russell Wilson's the truth, dude.
Like this kid.
I really, really.
What are you doing over there?
What am I doing?
Doing football talk.
One of my friends from high school said
that he was sitting here watching the game with his daughter
and said that the possible
that the cowboys could still win.
But it would be like doughnuts falling from the city.
We need to know.
A couple of friends in the show in the chat room
filling Mattie are both in Mattie's representing my gators
and Phil's talking about that other school
that somewhere else in the state of Florida
that we don't talk about.
Um.
But he says they should have done better
against the city. You're right.
You're absolutely right.
You've struggled two weeks in a row.
Oklahoma State, although a decently qualified
program, probably should have beaten them
by a couple of more touchdowns.
But that's just me.
We go to today.
And what a great day it was.
Yes it was.
Let it ride.
There are no polls.
The red zone channel is wonderful
because you get to see every game.
And you don't have to click back and forth.
They just show you if somebody gets inside the 20
you go to that game.
And if not, they have all the games up for you at one time.
And I don't have to pay 300 bucks for the NFL Sunday ticket.
Which is wonderful.
Mikey came over, Chad came over,
and we just had him watch football.
First of all.
You know, I did you, I'm gonna cue this up
because I have to say this.
Yes, we do.
I control the music.
I can do this.
I have the technology.
Because how often do I get to truly play this song right here?
Okay.
Okay.
Now.
Now when I think Miami, do I think a banjo in the fight song?
Probably not.
But we beat the New England Patriots today.
33 to 20 in our house.
And I'm very excited that the boys played very, very well today.
It's been a long time since I could be disexcited about my Miami Dolphins.
Now, this means we gotta go to New England in December.
Which doesn't make me happy.
But you know what?
For at least seven days.
We're undefeated.
For at least seven days.
We're undefeated.
You know the funny thing about this song you're playing.
The Houston has one just like it.
Everybody has one just like it.
But this was back before the internet and anybody could figure it out.
In the early 80s.
We thought we were special and we found out we weren't.
We don't have a fight song.
Can you give me this?
At least you're not the Vikings with purple and gold.
That's a fair point.
San Francisco and Dallas.
Oh, brother.
I'm gonna shut up right now.
Twenty Ramos serving up more turnovers than an Arby.
Twenty eight to seventeen.
And believe me, that score is not indicative of how bad that got.
And those people predicting three and thirteen or four and twelve.
I'm still sticking with three and thirteen.
Okay, I set the over under four wins.
But I'm saying three and thirteen.
My Tampa Bay Buccaneers go to Carolina.
They were scoreless for a long time.
But they still lose twenty to fourteen, which I'll take.
New Orleans and Atlanta goes into overtime.
What a great game this was to watch.
I just finally got caught up on hard knocks this morning.
Atlanta being the subject of hard knocks this year.
What a great game.
An NFC South rivalry that lived up to the hype today.
And who won?
Atlanta wins in overtime.
Thirty seven, thirty four.
After a turnover.
Yes.
Buffalo also wins in overtime at Chicago.
So maybe some problems in the Chicago defense.
Little bit good, it's Buffalo.
Tennessee goes to Kansas City and wins.
A lot of people putting a lot of expectations on the Chiefs this year.
But Tennessee, Jake Locker played well today as they win twenty six to ten.
But we talked about the Minnesota Vikings.
A lot of questions going into this year.
But they go to St. Louis, who is limping at best.
Sam Bradford out for the year.
Key injuries on the defense.
St. Louis loses thirty four to six.
Another great game, which a lot of people might consider the battle for the seller.
But it was still a good game.
As Oakland goes to MetLife Stadium to play the Jets.
Geno Smith had some great moments today.
That we watched the Jets win nineteen to fourteen.
The Jacksonville Jaguars.
Say what you want about Jacksonville.
They gave Philly a scare today.
Yeah, there were up to seventeen left.
And they, yes, seventeen unanswered points.
In the vet.
In Lincoln financial field, which is what it's called now.
But then Philly decides they're going to rattle off thirty four straight and win the game.
Your Pittsburgh Steelers, sir.
I wouldn't be, I wouldn't be showing that the Heisman just yet.
I'm going to tell you something when I know, but yeah.
They snatched victory out of the jaws of defeat.
Hey, I know we're up twenty seven to three.
And then they start.
Still my Steelers still got it.
And that's a, that's a divisional game.
So I know, yeah, we'll take the win on it.
Pittsburgh wins thirty to twenty seven.
Things got a little, little scary there.
And the defense is kind of hurting on some parts this year, which worries me, you know.
So even though we got that Ryan Shazam there from, you know, as a first round draft pick there on the defense.
Still, it's, I think the defense can be doing a lot better.
Cincinnati over Baltimore twenty three to sixteen today.
The Houston Texans who absolutely stunk up the joint in preseason.
Hosts the Washington football franchise because I am joining.
I'm joining that bandwagon by the way.
Yeah.
I don't know if you guys realize this.
Well, I am just going to call them the Washington football franchise or the Washington football team.
I will not.
Washington team.
You know, I may be a fringe member of the media, but dog on it.
I'm going to join that bandwagon.
Yeah, so they lose to Houston in by the way networks.
It is no longer a reliant stadium.
What's not an RG stadium.
It's the same company, but they change the name.
Okay.
Seventeen to six Houston wins.
A Jadavian County down with a knee injury today.
So I have to have.
I have a hard time with it.
Because I always know it was a reliant.
I've been there a couple of times for once.
Super Bowl and the rest of me.
Yeah.
Yeah.
The first takeer at HPK.
I'm going to be on back.
But, you know, there are things that Pittsburgh signs like, please, like Johnny play.
You know what I think Cleveland's now realizing that if they put them out there, they're going to kill him.
Especially in Pittsburgh on the first game.
Yeah.
Well, I just, he needs time and the season ticket holders can say everything they want to.
Quarterback is not the problem on that team.
You need to beef up your offensive line.
And just like about a handful of other teams, including the one in this town, get your secondary under control.
Tonight though, a great game getting a fire up here in a boot 32 minutes.
Indie at Denver.
A lot of people are saying that Peyton is going to go nuts on his old team.
Do not discount the Indianapolis Colts.
For a couple of reasons.
One, they've got a lot of great players.
And two, they have my favorite player in the NFL.
What's up, Pat McAfee?
Sure, he's the kicker.
But, you know, he's still my favorite player in the NFL.
Tomorrow night, as we know, opening weekend for the NFL Monday Night Football's a double header.
Which a lot of people want to see more of.
Not me.
I got to work Tuesday morning, okay?
7-10 Eastern.
You're going to have the Giants at Detroit.
This is either going to be a blowout or it's going to be a snooze fest.
There's going to be no middle ground.
But your late game, San Diego at Arizona at 10-20 Eastern time.
That could be a decent game to watch.
I won't watch all of it because I'll be asleep.
So why?
Okay, just making sure.
We'll get the highlights tomorrow on the internet.
It's okay, I'm old.

Kelly, anything you want to plug out there as we stretch along before we get to the where we're going to get to?
No, not yet.
Okay, she's holding on to it.
She's saving it.
She's saving it.
Let's get into music talk, gentlemen.
Just a few music headlines this week.
Allegedly season seven of the voice we talked about that just a little bit ago.
Taylor Swift, a possible judge, for that show.
I don't think she's going to be a judge.
I think she's going to be liking it.
Fight.
Oh, so they've moved because I heard rumors that she was going to be a judge.
What we call the voice dating game.
Easy, easy killer.
Because remember, I've said on the show, she kind of has a pass with me right now.
I have an old colleague whose daughter.
I'll give her that.
I'll give her that.
Her, her, what if her daughters was out jogging in LA and was struck by a car.
Um, had TMI.
It's been almost two years now and she's completely back from it.
They basically had their reconstruct her skull and when she was an ICU,
Taylor Swift showed up at the hospital to talk to the family.
Wow.
I don't know how she found out.
Wow.
I don't know.
It was just, it happened.
And so right now Taylor Swift gets a pass with me.
Oh, yeah.
So, and got to see some, some footage they've taken a trip to Florida.
And seeing the family just out there on the beach and just, you know,
hashtag Murphy's don't quit.
Look it up.
That's all I'm saying.
So just, it's, it's nothing short of a miracle what that girl's gone through.
So, although Maddie doesn't agree, Maddie's booing Taylor Swift in the chat room.
Ah, yes.
She has a birthday and look what happens.
Now, now let's go to the other side of that coin from another judge from that show
who is a bit of a moron.
Sealo Green has his reality show The Good Life cancelled by TBS.
Says a couple of things on Twitter that I'm probably not going to share on this show about rape.
In response to a court case that he was dealing with.
If you want to know what he said, the internet is a thing.
Google's a thing.
You can look it up there.
Um, he canceled his Twitter account, but then the next day he reactivated it.
So, I mean, I read the statement and I went,
you really did you read that again before you hit tweet?
Did you say that in your head over and over?
You saw that and went, yeah, I can roll with this shit.
So, we don't know if it's going to affect his status on the voice or not.
We have not heard any statements.
Let me see, man.
He's been gone.
But no, was he going and coming back or is he gone?
So, he's gone gone on his own court.
Whenever, whenever what prompted that response in the first place broke
was before last season started and he went away to deal with it then.
And he's out what it was.
And he's already said, yeah, I'm probably not coming back.
Okay, is there enough?
Good.
So, Garth Brooks is on Good Morning America this week and announces his brand new single,
People Loving People, as well as a new album and a new tour.
Um, I would love to play the song for you.
But nobody has it.
YouTube doesn't have it.
iTunes doesn't have it.
Amazon doesn't have it.
I even like, there's videos on YouTube that have the lyrics, but they don't have the music with it.
Did they ever get that Ireland debacle straightened out?
Not that I've heard.
That got really lovely.
So, the new album is supposed to drop in a few, we've got shrugs going on here.
Go ahead and explain.
He was, he had this huge set of tour dates set at Croke Park in Ireland.
Uh, and it was supposed to be what, five dates or something like that?
Uh, yeah, it was a handful of dates.
And the local government said, well, only three shows can be played there per year.
So, he said, well, and they'd already sold five days where the tickets were.
Oh, my God.
And he says, well, I either play five dates for all the fans that paid for their tickets,
or I'm not going to play any at all.
And they said, well, we guess you won't be playing any at all.
He goes, well, that's too bad.
Wow.
And they try to make it look like it was Garth's fault.
And he's like, no, I'm trying to give the fans what they want.
And Ireland's powers that be would not allow that to happen.
They overbooked.
And then they're wanting me to make the, they're trying to make me look like the bad guy for it.
And I'd say it was really cool.
If you go to YouTube, they have the, the GMA interview that he does with Robin Roberts,
where he talks about, you know, I'm going to make this announcement in Chicago
that's going to kind of change the way my music's gone.
And she's like, well, what is it?
He's like, I'm not going to tell you.
We're saying in Chicago's, but I'll tell you what, we leave here.
Get on the plane with me.
Fly to Chicago.
You can cover it.
And then I'll fly you back.
Wow.
And she's like, all right, she's like, I've got something planned.
And she looks off the camera and she goes, cancel it.
And he goes, grab your whole team.
Get them on the plane.
It'll just be you guys.
And meet me out there.
And she's like, well, I'd have to get a new outfit.
She goes, well, go shopping when you get there.
It's like, this time off has done Garth a little bit of good.
So you saw that show didn't you?
Which one?
The one he did over Thanksgiving?
Yes.
I did not.
Fan.
Oh, you know that in my mind.
The guy's one of the greatest entertainers in this generation.
And he's covered Billy Joel.
So he gets a pass with me.
You haven't seen him like this.
So I'm glad.
I would like to see the guy.
Because I've seen some, like, I have the central park concert
somewhere on a videotape in this house.
Which was amazing.
Especially if you watch the full unedited version
because HBO's coverage when they did it live stopped at a certain point.
But he went like another 30 minutes.
Wow.
And so when they reared it, they just aired the whole thing.
Oh, wow.
And basically he said, okay.
So the HBO coverage is gone, but we ain't done yet.
And it was really cool.
It was a really, really good show.
And the guy puts on a heck of a show.
So there's that.
In other odd news, Disney is suing deadmouse.
Oh, god, I love this song.
Thank you for picking this one.
You're welcome.
Because that's what I was thinking about.
They're saying that his deadmouse head looks way too much like Mickey.
And I was like, well, first of all, he's been doing that for a decade.
I know.
Like how many years?
Second, I would say secondly, proving this bad boy is going to be fun.
Because you're going to have to prove that dimensions are proportional.
You're going to have, I mean, Disney needs to get ahold of their legal and go guys.
Can we kind of just because he's going to fight it?
He's going to take it to court.
Well, then they better go after truly Nolan, like a mad beast.
Because all their little cars drive around town with mouse ears on too.
I'm what I'm going to be interested to see is how does he show up to court?
Because you know deadmouse doesn't take the man.
He doesn't take the mask off.
It's like daft punk.
They don't take the masks off.
Although there actually is a video of daft punk out there playing ping pong with each other
without the mask on.
And definitely not what you would expect them to look like.
Very, very hard for those.
Sorry, so for the mask.
Probably.
Thanks for radio.
Yes, so to speak.
Okay.
There's a reason that we do this behind the microphone.
So we should have that mask out.
Now let's go back to more cool news.
Richmond, Virginia.
Great little town.
I'm sure you know a little bit about.
Did you live up in that direction?
A little bit.
A little bit.
They haven't had the food fighters play there since 1998.
And you know me.
I'm a huge food fighters fan.
Me too.
Big fan of the Dave Grohl.
So what this guy in the town does is he does a crowd sourcing project to try to get
enough people to get them to come to the town.
And there's this little concert hall that holds about 1500 people.
And they got enough people.
It got Dave Grohl's attention.
He sends a tweet out on Friday that says, hey, how September 17th is the count.
Because that's when we're coming.
That's really cool.
That's when we get prints to play at mosquitoes.
Yeah, right.
Dude, if you pull that off, I'm going to let you sit in this chair.
Okay.
It's going right to two mill.
Oh, I got that on me.
So let's set that crowd sourced page up right now.
So you know, Dave Grohl's just cool like that.
And plus this drummer looks like a very young edge.
So there's that.
Edge from you two or Edge from WWE?
No, Edge from WWE.
Look at his drummer.
He looks like a very young version of Adam Copeland.
All right, music new releases in a music new release place where you get music new releases this week.
This young man, who in my opinion, very underrated.
And yes, I spelled that right.
There's not any letter that goes in the beginning of that.
Ryan Adams.
Not Brian Adams.
It's two different people.
Ryan Adams, more of a singer's songwriter, has a brand new album that he creatively entitled Ryan Adams.
Comes out on Tuesday.
I love this song called New York, New York, I'm a huge fan.
He's got kind of a more indie version of John Mayer thing going on.
Yeah, I can see that.
I dig it, very Americana, very cool.
Also a new album from these guys.
American High Five.
Blood and lemonade.
So it's an album you'd want to buy for your mom.
But I like these guys.
I won't call them kids with the clothes in the hair because they've been around for a minute.
They've been around since fairly deep into my DJ career, so never heard of them.
Really, never heard of them.
And then another band that's been around for a while that we haven't heard them brought up or these guys.
Better than Ezra releasing a brand new album this week called Altogether Now.
They went to University in North Texas when I was there.
Did they really?
I love this song, I love good.
Such a good song, no pun intended, it's a good song.
Also a couple of bands for the kids with the clothes in the hair.
Deaths from above 1979 releases the physical world.
I'm sure it'll be classical music.
Yeah, I'm certain of that.
Interpol releases El Pintor, which is Spanish for The Pintor.
And an album that I personally am looking forward to this Tuesday from this guy, La Cray.
La Cray is probably right now the premier Christian hip hop artist.
Love his stuff.
This song actually is called Confessions, especially the whole title is Confessions of a Millionaire.
He's not afraid to kind of call the church out and say, look, this is what you're doing.
And we're not doing what God's called us to do.
He's a great artist, he's very, very good.
Also a singer-songwriter that's kind of more from our generation, Luden Wainwright III.
Releases haven't got the blues yet.
Michelle Williams of Destiny's Child releases Journey to Freedom.
And a brand new album from Robert Plant called Lullaby and the Seaseless Roar.
Here's an idea.
How about a Led Zeppelin reunion?
I heard the first song from this on KXT.
It was really good.
I love his stuff, but he knows what we want.
That's the problem.
And he's the holdouts.
It kills me.
It's like, dude, you're the only one holding this up.
The other three are like, yes, let's do this.
Even if it's five shows, we don't care.
You had that one show.
It was the O2.
And it was amazing.
I heard it's a celebration day.
If you get the DVD, that's what that is.
It is ridiculously good.
It's so good, it will melt your brain.
Bonham's kid, don't worry about a thing.
I've always been a fan of Jason Bonham.
He's an amazing drummer.
And just without all the problems is done.
But yeah, there's that.
All right, boys.
He's settled in.
You ready?
Yep.
Let's do baseball talk.
Because this Saturday, it is on.
I ordered my jersey today.
It's going to be here Thursday.
Because my beloved Atlanta Braves are going to be in town.
And I'm going to see him on Saturday night.
Thank you, friend of the show, Al Blaylock.
We're hooking a brother up with some tickets.
And it's going to be on.
I cannot wait.
Plus, it's going to the ballpark.
Which, that's a double win for me.
Oh, yeah, that's always cool.
I get to see my Braves.
And I get to go to, was it Globe Life ballpark now?
Or whatever they're calling it this week?
The ballpark in Arlington.
Well, yeah, it's the ballpark in Arlington.
I love that.
I've said it before.
I don't care who they play.
I don't care if the Rangers win or lose.
I just want to go to the ballpark.
Right now, I just call it the place where Ron Washington used to work.
And we do want to say how saddened we are by the resignation of Ron Washington from the Texas Rangers.
There are things now coming out that maybe when they say off the field that maybe it was in the office, not on the field.
But we'll see how that goes on.
Let's go to your standings.
In the American League East.
Boston.
63 and 80.
Which puts them 63 and a six from the front.
143.
Which means they officially mathematically can't lose 100 games.
So that's good for them.
I know, son.
You just, 100 of the battle cat wanted to send a shout out to everybody.
Alright.
You good?
Okay.
But they are 20 games out of first place.
So mathematically pretty much out of it.
They are six games behind the Tampa Bay Rays.
Who are five and a half behind Toronto.
Toronto, a half game behind the Yankees.
But Baltimore has kind of run away with it.
Baltimore right now is nine games in front.
The magic number for Baltimore is 13.
What that means is any combination of 13 wins for Baltimore or 13 losses for the Yankees automatically win the division.
And remember, two wild card teams this year.
So everybody's still competing aggressively.
In the American League Central.
The Minnesota twins.
You suck.
61 and 81.
They are 18 and a half games out right now.
But they are two games worse than the Chicago White Sox.
Now the gap between the White Sox and the Cleveland Indians is 11 and a half games.
Cleveland's five out right now.
They are eight out right now.
Oakland's six out.
The team that we like to call.
Long.
The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.
Los Angeles County, California, America, North America, Earth Milky Way.
16 is their magic number right now.
They have one three straight.
Oh, I got my divisions mixed up, didn't I?
Let's do it over again.
Cleveland's five out, Detroit two and a half back on Kansas City.
I'm very, very tired.
The AL West.
We have four mentioned Texas Rangers.
You could still mathematically lose 100 games, sir.
Yes, I know.
53 and 89 right now.
33 and a half games back.
I just want to let you know that.
And you're.
I didn't already know that.
And you're nine games behind Houston.
Oh.
Houston is 16 and a half behind Seattle.
Oakland's six behind law.
Don't make me do that again in the American League West.
Somebody's making you do it anyway.
The Colorado Rockies also thinking up the joint.
But their five games better than the Rangers.
58 and 84.
They're 22 out.
They're a game behind Arizona.
Arizona is eight and a half behind San Diego.
Misty's beloved Dodgers now two up on the Giants.
Their magic number is 19 in the National League Central.
The Cubs at 64 and 78 are 14 back.
They are three and a half behind the Cincinnati Reds,
who are seven games behind John's beloved Pittsburgh Pirates.
May not get the wild card.
It's not over.
Four games behind is Milwaukee.
But St. Louis now fairly commandingly,
but their magic number is 17.
And in the only division that matters, the National League East,
the Philadelphia Phillies still thinking up the joint
and I couldn't be happier.
They are 66 and 76.
14 and a half back.
They're a game and a half worse than the Metz.
My beloved Marlins in the middle of the pack.
My beloved Braves, seven back on the Washington Natinels,
whose magic number is now 14.
The Braves are like within a game,
a game and a half of that second wild card spot.
So this is going to come down to the wire.
And now we're my Pirates on that Metz.
Let me see if I can find the wild card standings.
I'll have to click on that, give me just a moment.
Because we're now at the point of the year
that we need to start talking about the wild card.
Right now in the American League,
if I can get this here,
because somehow, oh, I got it.
There we go.
Right now, Oakland and Seattle
would have the two in the American League.
Detroit's a game and a half back.
Cleveland's three and a half back.
The Yankees are four and a half back.
In the National League, actually right now,
you've got one of the two wild cards, as it stands.
But Milwaukee and Atlanta are a half game back.
Miami's four and a half back.
The Metz are six and a half back.
So pretty much the entire NL East
is breathing down your neck right now.
And you guys got the Rangers this weekend, hope.
Hey, stranger things of hell.
I know.
Any given day, sir.
But it's the Rangers this year.
It's not this day.
But speaking of things like that,
you know, it's time for America's favorite game shots.
Yes, it is.
What is the run differential for the Houston Astros?
How this game works?
You're playing.
You're playing.
We have to go around the horn.
And we want you to guess what the run differential
for the Houston Astros is.
And what we mean by that is,
take the number of runs that Houston has scored
versus what they've given up.
We could readjust this to us the different differential
for the Texas Rangers.
But history dictates that we have to keep tradition.
Chat, go.
I don't want to play this anymore.
You have to play it, sir.
For three more weeks, you have to play it.
105.
105 for chat.
I'm going to sell.
They won't want it.
I'll just say 90.
Negative 90.
Negative 90 for Don Kelly.
No one told me there would be massive.
Right here.
Just do like in the lottery.
Just pull the ball in the bucket.
Can I say my favorite number?
You can.
28.
Mine is 28.
Probably not going to be close.
Maybe in May.
Were you listening when he said what their record was?
Keith, I'm going to say negative 84.
Negative 84.
The Houston Texans are 62 and 80.
I said Texans.
I've been football mode.
The Houston Astros are 62 and 80.
They have a win percentage of 437.
They are 24 and a half games back.
They are 35 and 39 at home.
27 and 41 on the road.
They have lost one straight.
They are 73 and their last 10.
The current run differential for the Houston Astros.
Our special guest is the closest without going over
because his minus 86.
What did you say?
Minus 84.
He's closest without going over now.
However, your Texas Rangers are a minus 149.
Oh.
Is that all?
You're best in the league right now.
That's Chad.
Maybe you're sitting at the mic.
You're best in the league right now.
Looks like it's still law.
Law?
Law is at a plus 115.
So playing well the law.
All right.
Let's do our quick in memoriam segments.
Because we've had so many celebrity deaths since last season
that we've decided to give this its own segment during the show.
Because this was a big one if nothing else.
This past week at the age of 81.
The entertainment world lost one Joan Rivers.
And Joan Rivers is an interesting conundrum because
if you want to understand the difference in generations.
She is an excellent, excellent example of this.
Because what people in this room might remember her for
is going to be far vastly different from the kids with the clothes
in the hair of today would remember her for.
By the way, Maddie did say minus 55 so she was in the ballpark.
See what you did there.
For me, I remembered Joan Rivers from when I was a kid.
I remember her from the Carson days.
Yes.
You know, she was one of Carson's go-to guest hosts.
Best friends too.
Yeah, well, until.
Until.
Which I thought was interesting.
And I'm glad you said that Keith.
Because I want to talk about that just a little bit because
when she got her own talk show, it really upset Carson
and he never had her on again.
He never spoke to her.
He never spoke to her.
Right.
He never spoke to her.
But who produced that show?
Carson Entertainment.
Which I thought was weird.
Because I saw a clip on CNN and it said,
courtesy, Carson Entertainment.
And I was like, I thought her.
Either somebody's got a typo on the wrong screen
or something's really weird right now for me.
I thought that was all.
I can't imagine because he had nothing to do with it.
And that's what I was wondering.
I'm thinking maybe they just had the graphic on the wrong screen.
Because I was like, that doesn't make any sense to me.
Yeah.
Because when she called him to apologize, he just hung up on her.
And for, I, and up to that point,
we hadn't really seen that side of Johnny Carson.
We kind of always saw him as the guy.
He's such a private guy, though.
I mean, he never would talk about that.
I mean, he was very personal.
Even when, you know, he would have a tragedy in his life.
You know, it was very rare that he would speak of it.
He was just very private.
I mean, everybody that worked with him said that, you know,
he was, you know, amazingly personal.
He did talk about himself a lot.
She was born Joan Alexandra Malinsky, June 8, 1933 in Brooklyn, New York.
1965 is when they're saying she first came into prominence.
She was really one of the first female comics.
That number one was fearless.
I heard people compare her to Lini Bruce.
On that level of, you're not going to tell me what I'm going to say.
I'm going to come out here.
I'm going to be honest.
And I'm going to talk about things that women don't talk about.
You know, I'm going to just, I'm going to do what I'm going to do.
And you can either deal with it or you can't.
She is a daughter of Russian Jewish immigrants.
She had an older sister who passed away just a little over a year ago
at the age of 82.
So you think about that.
I mean, they weren't that far apart.
She just turned 81.
Right.
She was raised in Prospect Heights and Crown Heights in Brooklyn.
She attended Connecticut College between 1950 and 1952.
She graduated from Barnard College in 1954,
with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature and Anthropology.
God.
I thought that's sinking for a minute.
But before she got into a show business,
she was a tour guide at Rockefeller Center,
a writer, proofreader at an advertising agency,
and a fashion consultant.
During this period, Agent Tony Rivers advised her to change her name,
so that's why she went with Joan Rivers.
She took his last name.
Go back and watch Old Seed Allen footage.
Old at Sullivan footage.
She just, as far back as I can remember,
if she was on something, I watched it,
because she was genuinely funny.
And the sad part is, I think, a lot of the young, young generations.
Where are they going to remember her for?
The French.
The French police.
The French police.
Yeah.
There's a lot more to her.
There's a ton more to her.
There's a ton more to her.
The plastic surgery upon plastic surgery.
As she sold a joke about somebody else once,
she's had so many facelifts, facelifts,
the dimple in her chin was her naval.
But she was so talented,
if you've ever seen the documentary they did on her a couple of years ago.
She hated technology.
Every joke she had ever written,
she had in like an old card catalog system
like we used to have at the library.
She had an entire wall in her office.
And I mean floor to ceiling.
They were sorted by date and by topic.
Wow.
She just opened a drawer and pulled it out.
She was like, oh, I remember this.
And they were all on index cards.
That's awesome.
Every joke she ever told.
Wow.
And she got a little bitter in the last few years.
Probably said some things that maybe she shouldn't have.
But I think part of that comes
with you get to a point in your life where the filter goes away.
And I can't let those things take away the memories of her that I have.
She was always just,
I always remember that fearlessness that she had,
where she just, she just put it out there.
And more often than not, it was funny.
It wasn't shock value.
It was genuine, honest to God comedy.
And if you didn't get it,
that seemed to be your problem.
She didn't dumb it down.
She was straight up all the time.
Chad, is there anything you want to add on this one?
I noticed that every time I saw a report on her passing,
the one adjective that kept coming up over and over and over again was a cervic.
Fair enough?
That's the one constant word I saw on every ride up on her was a cervic.
And seeing the way the comedy community has kind of come out,
Louis C.K. had some wonderful words to say about her on Twitter.
Yeah, her funeral was today.
Today, she was cremated and they had the memorial service for her,
I don't know, West Coast this morning.
To lose her in Robin Williams within three weeks is,
was a tough deal.
That's so crushing.
We're at that age, sir.
Yes, we are.
You know, and it's, it's weird.
Is that line from Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull that just haunts my dreams?
You get to a point where God stops giving and you start taking away.
Yep.
And it's weird.
It's just, it's that weird midlife, I guess you could call it thing.
You were, you never thought about it in that kind of,
in whatever broad bent said that.
I was like, as bad as this film was, that's the one thing I'm going to take from this movie.
I was like, I was like, wow, that's a fantastic line.
Joan Rivers, you will be missed by everybody.
And our thoughts and prayers go out to her family and friends.
All right, the clubhouse is your one stop shop for all things sports entertainment.
Let's combine the two and talk a little pro wrestling.
Jake Roberts has been in the hospital for the last few weeks.
He is off of the ventilator.
He is breathing on his own so much that he left the hospital yesterday and did an appearance last night in Vegas.
Are you kidding me?
No, there's, there's YouTube video up of it.
Oh, my God.
Where he said, I beat addiction.
I'm going to beat cancer too.
Oh, my God.
This is Jake Roberts.
Sir, this man is on a mission now.
This is Jake Roberts reborn.
And I, I'm so thankful that Jake has really been able to get past all this stuff.
Because you want to talk about him, about a man who fought demons.
We've said it before we said again.
If you watch the wrestler, it's the Jake Roberts story.
It is.
It's very much so.
Watch beyond the mat and then watch the wrestler.
And it will scare you.
How many parallels are there?
Oof.
I'm going to take a moment on that.
And from great news to-
Oh, you're kidding me.
Tomorrow night on RAW.
Because this Bella's thing couldn't sink to a lower level.
Jerry Springer's going to be on RAW tomorrow night too.
Council the Bella twins and give an intervention for the-
Shut up!
Because you don't want to be insulted as an audience by bad storylines, right, Vince?
Are you kidding me?
Let's try it out, Sally Jesse Raphael.
Let's try it out, Jenny Jones.
Let's try it out, Montel.
Who was the British guy?
Gordon?
Gordon's something or other.
I don't know.
Oh, Gordon.
No, there's a Gordon's something.
This is like in the late 90s.
Okay, Graham Norton's loss.
I feel like him.
He does a great talk show.
You could break back down even if I hadn't been a WrestleMania.
You shut your dirty mouth, sir.
You lead more than downy out of this.
Considering he's no longer with us.
That's a fair point.
So yeah, you proud about that little detail?
Triple H is on Chris Jericho's podcast last week.
last week and probably and apparently did record numbers of downloads because you
know how much h doesn't do much with the internet true. Jericho asks him so tell
me about your early days he goes okay I'll give you one thing that I've never
talked about he goes the original name they wanted to give me. Reginald DuPont
Helmsley. Oh dear god. I'm like what is he a paint salesman? Reggie. Reggie. Reggie. I may have to download that one
just to here just because it's age because because I just want to hear him say that
to Jericho and hear Jericho laugh his butt off because Austin says he's got
in book too but they just have to get it together because what Austin's trying to
get away from are the phone interviews and the Skype interviews. Good. Which is great
because it drives me it's like when he had he had somebody on recently that it
was just like I think it was built on D it was it was hard I had to like at
certain points I had to close my eyes and concentrate so I could understand
what he was saying because it was coming through a Skype phone line and it was
like you know Bill's not always been the most articulate individual on the
planet so but I mean Austin's getting good guests. So. Reginald. Reginald. We've been
hearing lately you know you put the belt on Lesnar which we've all thought was a
bad idea because Lesnar's a part-time guy anyway. Not me it's better than
Cena but go ahead. Well that's just because you're part of you're the president of
the anti-Sina factory but they have reworked Lesnar's deal so that he will work
draws and pay-per-views as needed. Great. At least you're gonna get the
champ on television. Take what you can get sir. I need alcohol. We need the
champ on TV. I don't like to the champ showing up at a go-home show and the show
after a pay-per-view and then we don't see him until the next go-home show. It makes
note. Do I have to book? I don't have to book. I'm not talking to you. Just put the
belt on somebody else. That's not a psychopath. That was as long as this thing
we're speaking of which. Mick Foley undergoes the first of several back surgeries
that he's going to require that he has planned to as he quote says it have me
walking around in less pain than I've known in years. So mix finally starting to
fix that thing. He had a great two-part interview with Austin recently that I
really really dug in with just when you think that Mick's got no more stories to
tell. Oh please. Why would you ever assume that. And he also said on his show
that you know who else is doing a lot of improv and stand up and nobody and
they're not talking about it. Hurricane Zeagler. Real real. Zeagler's and he's
really good at it. He says Zeagler's been kind of doing little guest shots here
in there. What was he dating for a while? Amy Schumer. There you go. Who has her own
show on Comedy Central right now? And why is this week's raw the season
premiere? Are they doing that again? Yeah. When you had I was like here's a question
you never went into hiatus. I don't you know I don't remember a season finale. We
had one for Nitro but that was in 2000. Got to get that because that was a
series finale. Well speaking of raw let's talk about it. I need this one first
to stop it. Go there first. Thank you. We saw something Monday night. Oh I need
to take a sip of my beverage before I say this. Oh no. Oh Lord or Bethel is a third
wheel. Here we go. We may have to make the show a semi so we have more wheels to
lose. Teenweller with this to lose them all. Something happened on Monday
night. That if if I didn't see it with my own two eyes I wouldn't have believed
it. When Cena mentioned some or was Jericho mentioned something about H's
purple tie and you heard triple H say the words son this ties violent. I was like can
I call you and remind you who you are? Because obviously you don't remember. I was
like are you kidding me really? And a couple of a great sign in the crowd which
has cost them controversy to quote Michael Cole. Yeah sign that said I could be at
home watching Nitro for 999. Oh allegedly now there's a there conflicting
stories out there right now. One story the guy said that he got kicked out for it.
But other people are saying you say you got kicked out but I saw the sign like
five seconds later. So they're wondering if WWE was just trying to generate
publicity because there's some people saying that he was just getting out
control and throwing stuff at people and stuff he got kicked out. Is that what it
was? Yeah I got about four seats down said no he got kicked out because he was
like a drunk fool. Oh fair enough. But I love the sign. Yeah well yeah I love
the sign. I'd be somebody else picked up the sign. And since like Justin
Robert said at now the the advocates of Rock Lesnar wouldn't it pull him and
need to be introduced. Didn't we just always hit the music any came out? I believe
so. And then we all and then we all grown because we knew what we were in for
for the next 30 minutes. But you know what? Heyman's cutting good promos. I've
always liked the pro. I just my thing with Heyman because he's so creative it
frustrates me when he does the same thing over and over and over again. I know
how creative that man is and he can do better. And I think that's where my
frustration comes from personally. I just got sick of hearing Baroque Lesnar.
And and you know let's talk about one of your co-leaders here for a minute
Don. We finally got Adam Rose back on television. But did you notice like
Adam Rose isn't even buying Adam Rose anymore. Like he looks like there were
a thousand other places he could have been then on Raw right then. He's not one of
my leaders. I thought you enjoyed his fine work. No. I thought you enjoyed his
fine work. I need to shoot that bunny. I was kind of hope because the
the bunny attacked Slater. And I was kind of hoping they were gonna unmask the
bunny but they didn't. I thought they're gonna mask the bunny have some other
rustle in their car. That's what I thought too. But they didn't. I think it's
I'm not an Adam Rose. But he wasn't even buying his own bin anymore. Well
you know send up me to be in Sandhouse student. You know. No. You don't mean Damien
Miz now because he's I don't know if you saw Chad. He's now the Miz is stunt
double. That happened. That happened. That happened. That happened. Harding my brain
telling you. That's his new bit. But he's carrying that bit over two shows. So
this might be a bit that carries for a while. He's the Miz is stunt double.
Hornslog will be all three. Hornslog will be all three to stunt double. We
all only if we can. And so we had this segment where we had this segment. The
segment when Nikki Bella came out to talk to staff that may be the quickest
boring chant. I've ever like it was 30 seconds in and that boring chant hit with
the force of a Mac truck. I was like wow. Can you hear what's going on
Steph? Because this swerve Ray Charles could see coming. He's blind and dead.
Plus see a punk chance to help either. Well now it's going to be my next point
is that but the seat that see with AJ Lee as great as she is and as one of
probably the best technical divas wrestlers I've seen in my lifetime. She will
never not have the CM punk chance. They will always be there and it makes me sad.
But she's so great on her own but she's never going to not have those. You're
married to the dude. Here's how it goes down deal with it. It's unfortunate but
it's true. And the other thing that frightens me about this angle. Don did you
notice anything Monday night about what what Nikki was saying to Bri a lot. If
if you were my sister what she should do. Oh yeah. What should she do? Quit.
Quit the thing you know quit the WWE like you did before when you know what
scares me. What is that we're leading to a Bella's I quit match. Think about it.
Think about it. And if this goes to the total divas which is why by the way that
premieres tonight DVR not set. I'm done with that show really. I am completely
done. I will watch it for the Empire in pain and torture but I'll give you a
head. So that's so that's your impact. Yeah. Totally impact to me is what
total divas is. Yeah. Yeah. I'm done with that show. I can't do it anymore. It's
yeah. It's like so stage and phony and everything. It's so blatantly scripted. It's
ridiculous. Even even even more than survivor. At least or at least with survivor
there's like a 1% believability to it. Total divas it's just it's ridiculously
scripted. To the point of like I think I want to hit her. She is my line. Enemy.
sarcastically. I don't know what you're talking about. Exactly. Another one of my
favorite movie lines ever. All right. Let us go to some T&E talk because yes
because if I sat through that show we're gonna talk about it. Do we have to? Yes we
do. Okay. Because that way I get to play this song especially this version. Any
excuse I can have for a gobo song I'm good. So bound for glory coming up next
month which will be on tape delay because why not do that with your biggest pay
per view of the year. Do it in Japan and put it on a seven hour tape delay. There's
nothing called the internet which is like no one's gonna know. Nobody's gonna know what
happens. Let's do a tape review that's gonna be tape delayed seven hours. Actually I
think it's 12 or whatever but no it's gonna start at 4 a.m. Eastern time. So that's
what? 4 a.m. Eastern time. It would normally start at 8 p.m. Eastern time. Yeah. 18
hours. No 12 14 hour. Well 13 hours from us. 13 hour delay. Still. Yeah. 4.3.
But they're gonna have a sumo wrestler. Yeah. Because that's what impact needs. It
means a sumo wrestler on the biggest tape delay pay per view of the year.
Work for fans. 20 years ago.
Remember they had Frenchi in the year to move. Can't forget about that. Believe me I'm trying.
We can't. And rumors are that they may put show as blusters next opponent. Oh Frenchi.
Yes. Really. Because they need somebody that's gonna be able to wrestle with him and it be
a little more believable. I thought Frenchi would be after Rooster after Mark Henry's got that
covered. Oh after. And I'm asking you to put Frenchi on my TV. I'm good. They'll get
me. I'm talking after Henry then he'd go to Frenchi. I thought. I just don't know.
I don't know. You know it's wrestling. It's what?
Wrestling logic. Thank you.
See how shows are also on hold after several of their office employees have been released.
And right now after bound for glory next month there are no live events planned until the UK
tour in January. Man I wish I own stock in that company. If you enjoy losing money. Yes you
should. I got a better idea. Take all the money out of your wallet. Spray it now with
lighter fluid and take a match. That's just as good of an investment. That's illegal.
I mean at least you could get some YouTube and you might be able to get some revenue from the YouTube
views on that. But impact talk. Very opening match was the rubber match knockouts title match
Gail Kim and Terran Terrell. That Terran Terrell turned into a wrestler. Oh yes she has. She took
off the upstairs. She damn. And that better than Deva's champ been saying it for years.
Totally. I think TNA is finally starting to realize they've got the women's division.
They've got the best women's wrestlers outside of Natti. I think if somehow you can get Natti
to jump ship it puts the nail in the Deva's division. Because really and why they keep
jobbing her is beyond me. And did you see Rockstar Spud? Wednesday night gone.
Is he trying to be kid from Kid and Play? The white version with that hair?
He had a foot of hair on top of his head if he had nothing.
It was I mean and boy his outfits are kidnores. But friend of the show's team has
never been loves the outfits. So he was kind of a jerk when I remember a hotel thing there.
Yes he was to you. That is correct sir. And did you notice any? Did you know how much
TNA drives me insane? You make grandpa? Yes. The crypt keeper. Grandpa.
You have Eric Young. Bobby Roode. Okay. And he goes. Well in essence this is a number one
contenders match. You build it as a number one contenders match. So in essence no it is.
It's to say something is in essence something is to say it's almost something. No it is that something.
I think it's starting to dementia that a you know we don't call him grandpa for nothing.
In the or in the immortal words of the great historian and philosopher Bugs Bunny, what an ultra-moor!
You make my brain hurt sir. Your grandpa is like my Michael Cole. I hate Michael Cole with a
passion. You hate grandpa so move on to Smackdown. Last week on Raw they talked about the head
open invitation for Michael Sam. First openly gay player in the NFL to be on Raw this week. Well
done the next day after he was released from the St. Louis Rams is signed by the Dallas Cowboys
practice squad. So that kind of shot that in the foot. So they've actually they took it down and
then they put it up that said that he can come to any raw that he wishes. There might have to be
some releases signed for him to be able to do that because the NFL is not real big on lending
their players out. Kevin Green was that was the nice. He can make an appearance along with
any raw that's a paper field. Well still they'll probably. But that's a good point. How
in the cell is in Dallas. Yeah. So why not. And when we said you'd never hear this song again we're
going to play it again. Alberto Del Rio has been cleared to work for AAA in Mexico. He will be
known as El Patrón. I don't know if he'll come to the ring with Tequila. I know exactly how that
works. Tequila match. The winner drink must tequila wins. I don't know. But this one that that the
L-ray network is doing. I think it's its own entity. John Morrison. John Morrison match striker
Ray Mysterio are the big three that I've heard signed so for so far so far so far so far so far
so full so full and in news that could not make Don happier if it tried get ready kids. John
Cena's greatest rivalries coming to Blyway in DVD. I have not seen hatred for a man like Don has
for John Cena. It's frightening. It is frightening. But I do know that. Thank you. But you know what
we're only two weeks away from the best of staying. Very excited. Oh it's going to be awesome.
And Smackdown is going to remain on Friday night. Sci-fi released a schedule. There was talk of
Smackdown moving to Thursday. It's not. It is going to stay on Friday night. Probably the best move
for them. I just don't know the Thursday. That's a good idea. Only one note I have from Smackdown.
So you have one tag champ with a knee injury. Yeah. Who else is doing this angle?
Oh yeah TNAs. Yes. Except since they've taped this like three months ago. We haven't gotten
there yet. But yeah I was like really. So are we doing this just to try to get
there. They shouldn't even be take champions. This would be the wire. I will talk about that two
weeks from tonight. Okay. Because one of two things is going to happen two weeks from tonight.
We're either going to be live on the air from an undisclosed location as we prepare our empire
for night of champions or we're going to be back in Fox and Hound. The Fox and Hound has gotten
their technical glitches worked out in Richardson, Texas. But make sure you understand regardless.
We will do the pre show live at six o'clock central. Getting you ready for what I like to call
the fifth major of the year because it is night of champions every belt on the line. Hopefully.
You never know. That's the rule. That's the rule. It's night of champions. It's not night of
almost every champion. They always play by the rules. But night of champions they do. Every time
night champions happens every belt is on the line. I mean they already got roost of a Mark Henry
and that's they're not champions. But I didn't say that it was only champion. I'm saying you're
talking WWE. Okay. They they call hell in the cell. There's only one hell in the cell match.
Well, they don't it's not called it to hell in a cell. It's just called hell in a cell.
Or that be to hell in a cell. How does that work? Okay. Two layers of hell. We're down
days in front of hell in a cell. And right now what we're going to do kids is segue. We're going
to do something called a segue because what better place to go from wrestling into movie talk
than to talk with our very, very special guest Keith. You've been here. You've been hanging
out with us. Thank you for putting up with this madness as long as you have. Unfortunately,
I can't say it's any worse than it normally is. But the reason that we've got Keith on
is something that I'm overly excited about because if you know me, you know I am a bit of a
wrestling historian. I have been watching professional wrestling since I was knee high to a grasshopper
as they like to say in Texas. Me also. Me also. And you as well, Don. And one one of the
the tea you can't call him a faction. You can't call him a tag team. They were a group. I mean,
it's the only way to put it. And I need to go ahead and fade this out because I have to just
click over to another format to do this. We're going to do that here. Are these boys right here?
And yes, we got this from your YouTube page. So you've got to click from us.
Just I wish people could see what I'm looking because if you see the video for this,
it's so 1983. But one of the factions in the greatest rivalry in wrestling history, I will say it.
The Von Erichs and the people we're about to announce was in my opinion the greatest
pro wrestling rivalry ever in that business. The fabulous free birds, baby. Oh, there's Michael
in his hair. Oh, yeah. But the reason we're bringing this up is not necessarily for the free birds
themselves, but it's more about the music we're playing. And Keith, I'm going to kind of hand this
over to you because this is your project. And I don't want to step all over your project. I want
you to tell people about this project because I'm going to scream like a little girl here in a minute.
All right. Well, we're working on a film called Back on Bad Street. And it's a documentary
celebrating the 30th anniversary of probably the greatest song ever recorded. And it's not
that's not coming from me. That's coming from Steve Austin. Yes, and I quote one of his favorite
songs of all time, not even just a wrestling song. It's one of his favorite songs. But weren't
these the first guys to do their own thing because before, as you remember, the Von Erichs would come
out to Lagrange or the free birds would come out to Freebird by Leonard Skinner. Well, the music
industry's music industry said, hey, stop that. You're not paying this for it. So, you know, quit
doing that. And so what happened was Jimmy Papa, who let me just give you just a little background
on Jimmy and myself. Please do what we did. This is your time, sir. Okay. Well, it's funny. We have
this film called Black and this film company called Black and Gold Films. Okay. Okay. And it's called
that because almost everybody working on this project went to Irving High School. Oh, really?
Yes, the fighting tigers of Irving High School, Black and Gold. And myself, I went to Irving High
School. Jimmy went to Irving High School. The other director, Steve Barnes, he went to Irving High
School. Our investor went to Irving High School. I mean, the list goes on and on. And it's all our
associate producer went to Irving High School. And we just all got together. And I've known Jimmy,
I've known of Jimmy for a long time because his girlfriend was my sister's best friend.
So, but I started visiting with him again, probably four or five years ago. And we started talking
about Bad Street. And you know what, you've got an anniversary coming up. We should do a film about
this. You know, it's the, it's really the song that started it all. I mean, wrestlers were, you
know, you know, this is the song they came out to and then everyone followed suit.
It was really the, it was, like you said, before that, it was just other people's music,
you know, savage would come out to pomp and circumstance or. Yeah, a rick flair would come out to
the spark with Thusela, which yeah, yeah, I wish they'd take the woo off the beginning of it.
It just drives me insane. But yeah, I mean, this was the first time that these guys went,
you know what, we need to have our music. We don't want to play somebody else's. And,
and of course, from the royalties standpoint, that helped out. Yeah. And, you know, it makes sense.
And, but it was really funny because, you know, this was started at the sportatorium.
The freebirds would come out and they didn't have a sound system to, you know, like,
they do today. Right. It was just those cone speakers and a little, a little kids 45
record player. I feel cold. You're waiting for somebody to start saying today's special in the
cafeteria. That's what you were waiting for. It was one of those clothes in play. Yeah. It's kind of
terrible. And, you know, it would sound, of course, horrible, but it was their theme song.
And you knew it. I mean, it hit you knew it. And it really took the freebirds, you know,
who were just notorious bad guys. It really kind of made them rock stars. And loved doing it.
And it even, because Michael Hayes became so popular as a quote unquote singer,
like that quote unquote, which you have to get debated. Well, I mean, you know, he,
you know, he actually turned face and he turned against the freebirds because he came back,
but it wasn't to wrestle. It was to sing. And I say quote unquote again, sing.
And, but it's, it's all, this film covers how Jimmy and Michael met,
how they became friends, how they became roommates. Some of the stories, Jimmy tells in the documentary
about, you know, living with the freebirds or just being buddies with the freebirds.
And all the way through, I mean, they recorded an album together. They did another,
they did two albums together, actually. And, you know, and then Michael gets married and then
they kind of split apart. And, but it's that whole period of time. I mean, it's, it covers kind
of a, I don't know, probably a 10 year period. But, you know, about the archival material that you have.
Yeah, Jimmy, it's funny because, you know, Jimmy and I have been working on this for a long time.
And I've seen a lot of this, this footage and he just has boxes and boxes of videotapes of
he and Michael on their trip to Hawaii. Or he, or he videotaped Michael's wedding. And he,
all these things, this golf tournament and all these other things that he just always had a camera
with him. And it was so weird. And there's just a literally big huge like refrigerator boxes full
of videotapes that we had to go through and go through and go through. And he even had, and this
is in the documentary, Michael Hayes singing lessons. Oh, dear. Please, these are in the documentary.
Yes. Oh, greatest day ever. And, and it's, and, and just so many unbelievably funny moments. I
mean, this documentary, I don't know if you, I mean, you guys probably see a lot of wrestling documentaries
like wrestling with shadows and things like that. You know, only some of them, huh?
Owns them. Oh, yeah. I mean, they're great. And, you know, for the most part, they're pretty
serious. I mean, it's, you know, like a, the Montreal screw job and, you know, all the events leading
up to that. And, and so with this, this is not that kind of documentary because it's, to me,
it's so absurd that these two guys got together and that it's, it's, you know, I just,
and I have a hard time being serious anyway because just what I do. So I just took kind of a
humorous approach to it and took, tried to find all the funny in all these things and put them
into a documentary. And, you know, I'm hoping that people find it as funny as, as we did laughing
while we were making it. I mean, because, you know, our feeling is, you know, my editor and,
Steve, the other writer director, we'd sit in a room and we'd just watch stuff. And if it made
it, made us laugh, it went in the night. And there's a lot of stuff that made us laugh in this.
So we had a great time making it and we feel like if it's fun to make, it's fun to watch.
Absolutely. And so, you know, that's what we're hoping other people find.
When do we get to see it? Let's just get down to it. When do I get to see this thing? Because
this was first brought to my attention a few months ago by a friend of the show Devon Pike,
who is, it was a dear friend and we love him to death. And I wish we could get him on the show more.
And then Kelly brought it to me and I was like, yeah, when can we get this done? Because if there's
anything that's completely up the alley of this show, it is this. So when can I see it? Well,
it's going to premiere. It's going to be either October 9th through the
podcast. Yeah, it's going to premiere at the Dallas video fest, which we will be a part of next
month. We're very excited. Thank you, Kelly, for helping us out with that. So it's going to be
opening weekend of Dallas video fest, which is October 9th through the 12th at Alamedraft House.
And the schedule comes out this week. So you can sit on pins and needles until then. And
where would they check to find out? Yes, videofest.org is the website. She told me not to forget.
But that's where we have five people in the room and go, what is this now?
Yeah, videofest.org is the Dallas video fest website, which is a wonderful festival we were
part of last year. Which we love. So much fun. Yeah, we had a really, I'll tell you what,
I needed about three days of sleep by the time it was all said and I can only imagine how tired you
were by the end of it. I think that last Sunday night, we were all just like, this is so much.
I think we're just kind of coasting into it. But we were having fun, but we were all exhausted.
And it's longer this year, is it? No, it is longer. It goes actually from October 8th to
October 19th. But if you think about it, and years passed, we've always been at one location.
And it's been at least four auditoriums playing at the same time. So this year, it's going to be
at Alameda first weekend and we'll have two auditoriums instead of four. And then we'll have some
community screenings on Monday Tuesday and Wednesday. And then we go back or we go to Angelica in Dallas
and we'll have two auditoriums at Angelica in Dallas the second weekend, Thursday through Sunday.
And I'm such a fan of both of those venues. Oh, I know. It's like, yeah. Sometimes I feel like I've
spent more time lately at the Angelica than I've spent in my house. But there's such great venues
to watch any form of film. The Dallas International Film Festival, we had a great time there.
You know, the Alamo has always been nothing but gracious to us with all the things that we've
done with them. It's a wonderful, wonderful place. If you are a fan of film, it's the place to go.
And to have them back again this year for the Dallas International Film Festival and we had so
much fun last year, I'm excited for it. You mean Dallas Videofests? Yeah. Again, I'm tired
it's late. But the Dallas Videofests, that was the first festival that we did on this show.
It was indeed. We were very honest. That was our first film festival with the Dallas Videofests
last year. That's awesome. I spent my birthday there the final day. There's nothing, there's nothing
to do. There's nothing to do. It's just not going to be spending my birthday to you guys this
year. So that's the day after mine. The Dallas Videofests will be the absolute premiere
of the film. Yes. What are their plans for it from there yet? Well, then after that, the film
goes on sale. Okay. This is going to be everyone's first opportunity to see it at the Dallas
Videofests. And we will announce that date when we have that nailed down. So we'll get it to you
guys. So you can announce it. Cool. We will definitely do that because I really, really,
really am excited to see this. Ever since Kevin was like, would this be something you're interested
in? I'm like, hello. Sorry, I thought you were talking to me there for a minute, sir.
I cannot wait for this. Well, and you know, go to badstreetusafilm.org and you can see the
.com. .com. Sorry. We're all tired. Wait, badstreetusafilm.com. And videofests.org. Exactly.
You can see the trailer. The trailer and there's also details on the filmmakers as well.
Right. Yeah. And some archival photos on the website. I mean, it's a fun place. And soon,
there will be bad street merchandise. So you can have your own bad street t-shirt and bad street
in the app. Because again, being a kid that grew up on this stuff. Oh, me too. You know,
I mean, my mom smarted me up when I was very young to the business. So I knew what I was watching.
But it was so convincing, especially in the mid, the early to mid 80s, which was really the
high point of guy like the free birds and the horsemen and the Von Erichs and the road warriors and
the new breed. It was, it was a lifestyle. Yeah. You know, people watch this old footage and they laugh
and I'm like, you don't understand that's what it was. We were so caught up in it. And now to get
the story, especially behind this, just, this was so groundbreaking where it was, wait a minute,
you're known for the song that you come out to. It wasn't just, oh, we just picked a song that
because you thought it was cool. We made a song and that song is us. And it really changed,
I might as well say changed everything, but it changed a lot about the way that the business
was run. You know, you had, you had to, you know, like the, was the road warriors came out, the Iron Man
by, by Ozzy. Right. And, but later on though, then, you know, when Hogan came out with the,
you know, the American made thing. Yeah. It was worth, I have the Tiger first by survivor. And then,
you know, Iron Man was actually, if you look, black Sabbath, if you look over in my vinyl collection,
I've got pile driver on vinyl over there, which has the old honky-tongued man theme and all of that.
It really changed the way the business saw things. Wait, wait a minute. This could be a revenue
screen. So why are we trying to get away with something when we could just make it ourselves? And
these were the guys that did that, which is, and I'm just so stoked for this thing, and I can't wait
to see it. And I, with all of this footage you're talking about, it melts my brain of what the extra
is on the DVD you're going to be. I may not leave the house for me. Because this, this is my bread
and butter. This is, you know, it was a huge part of my childhood, which got me into later on,
you know, I wrote a column on the internet for a long time, which really was also the foundation
of the show you're listening to right now. Pro Wrestling was the foundation that we built this
podcast on. Everything else just kind of got thrown in as we went along. But one of the things
we're known for is our Pro Wrestling talk. So not to, you know, toot my own horn, but, you know,
I give this my full endorsement. Because I am, I am so excited for this. And I, you know, we're
going to be there front row. We're going to be all three of us. So whatever we'll be handling you
at the Q&A. And we'd like to have you back on during the festival. Come sit with us because we're
planning on doing some live shows from the festival itself. We have a lot of the filmmakers and
some of the actors and stuff on. And we just, we just kind of freeform it more. It's a lot,
those shows are a lot less structured because we kind of let the, the flow of the guests dictate
the show, which is a lot of fun. And at the video, like the video fest, it's just this, this
podcast is about the directors, the actors. We, it's all about them. It's not us. Let's talk about
what you're doing, what's going on. You know, what do you want to promote? What's going on next?
We're here for you guys. And that's what the whole thing is. And that's whenever we do a festival,
like the Dallas video fest, that's, it's all about the, the people that are there giving the
product and getting the word out for them. Right. And, and it was really fun to work on this
because we had a very small crew. And, but we did get to do, you know, some really cool
interviews or some people we would have loved in an interview that we didn't get to. But,
you know, I got to, you know, for me, this was, it was amazing because I got to go back and I got
to interview David Manning. And we got to interview Iceman King Bahrson and Johnny Mantell. And,
and, you know, and Gray Pearson, who was the owner of the sportatorium before it shut down. And,
great people, great stories. And, and it was fun too because, you know, as the writer on the project,
you know, I got to work with a voice talent. We have a narrator that kind of carries the story.
Oh, nice. And, uh, got named Troy Smith, great voice talent, kind of a voice of God, kind of guy.
And, uh, he is, he is that guy. And, but also amazingly funny. You know, so, you know,
you come in with a script and it's so great when you can hand a script to somebody and then they
plus it. Nice. And, you know, every time he'd come in, you know, to do pickups or something is like,
okay, here, here this is, and I think, well, this is funny. I'm not, I'm not sure he's going to be
able to plus this. And then he would every time. So it was just so great to have a crew that you
knew you could count on. You know, the editor that I worked with, you know, it was just an awesome
editor named Halal and, uh, Steve, who was my partner in writing and directing great, great guy,
great animator. He's actually, I mean, um, for people that don't know anything about me,
I am actually more involved in animation than I am in a documentary. That you are, my friend.
I was wondering how long I was going to take you to bring this up. We're going to let you bring that up.
And, but Steve was actually the guy that gave me my start. I mean, he taught me when I started
in this business, uh, in the animation business, I was running an Oxbury camera. And he taught me
how to do it. And, you know, he was a real mentor to me. And then to get to work with him
30 something years later, uh, you know, on this project has been just amazing fun to me.
Full circle. Yeah, it really has. It really has. And, you know, I mean, I don't know if any of you
guys know what an animation camera is. If you've been to Disney World and seen the
end of the multiplayer cameras and all that, that is probably, you know, if you're a really bad
person here on earth after you die, you go and you run an animation. Because most of the people
that I knew that did it were either alcoholics or dead. Oh, well, he's like one of Dante's levels
of hell. It's, uh, it's, but, and it's, you know, I mean, back in the day, back before computers,
when, when you watch a movie and the credit roll that you see in the film, that all had to be shot
frame at a time. Oh, yeah. A thousand eighty frames per minute. There's a reason that there
wasn't nine minutes worth of credits back in the olden days because you didn't have that kind
of time or patience. Well, there were no one that would do it. Exactly. I mean, it's, you know,
you got how many people on your film? I'll pass. You're getting the director. You're getting
the major stars. You're getting the DP. You're getting the producer. You might get a soundtrack.
That's about all you're getting. And it's at the beginning of the movie, not the end. That's
right. But do you want to go ahead and share the other little project that you worked on it?
Maybe a couple of people have seen. Well, I was also, um, one of the creators on Jimmy Neutron,
Boy Genius and a little independent series. Yeah. I mean, it was carried on PBS for like three
months, not a lot of people. We had a pilot. It didn't do well. But, uh, you know, that was,
I mean, that's, that's more where my background is. But when I had an opportunity to do this,
a documentary, and I love documentaries, I thought, well, it's not going to be better than this.
I mean, this is the greatest opportunity because I grew up on the Von Erickson and Iceman and
all this. It's easy for me. It was Florida and Georgia championship wrestling, but because I
grew up in South Florida. But yeah, we had the freebers, but it wasn't like we didn't know who the
Von Erick's were. Yeah. If you were a fan of wrestling, if you didn't know who the Von Erick's
were, you were chastised by your friends that were. Yeah. Yeah. Absolutely. I mean, they were huge.
I mean, and they were as big in their day as the Cowboys were. Oh, absolutely.
Indeed. Absolutely. There's a reason they both played it. And I think they're bigger now than
the Cowboys are natural. And there's only one of them left. Yeah. We may be bigger than the
I think we found our title for tonight. I mean, I met with the Von Erick's rep for
Slamenverser, the one Kevin Von Erick. He was very, very nice, even all after years of his sons.
We're at due to match at Slamenversery. Right. So I met him after which is really, really cool. And
he's traveling with them now. They're, you know, coming to Texas and wrestling in Galveston,
or I think they wrestle at UTA, which is odd. But the UTA, that was a, that was a pay-per-view
for TNA. That was Slamenverser. Oh, okay. Okay. That's where you met him. Okay. Okay. I just
realized that Keith was a producer on a show that brought me to tears in 99. Really? All of the
other reindeer. Oh, yes. I see no idea. I saw a credit that made me happy because it said the
weird elf show. And that just made me very, very happy because I'm a huge fan of that man.
Oh, me too. And it was a show that, you know, it only went one season. We had a bad run of working
on shows that would only go one season. But then you realized most shows only go one season. If
that... Well, we were talking a couple of weeks ago about Pee Wee's Playhouse. And the entire
series is being released on DVD later this month. And Blu-ray. But there was only like 80 episodes
of that show over six years. And it was like, that can't be right because I thought there was more
that I saw. Or maybe I just saw the same episodes over, over, over again. I didn't realize it,
you know? But yeah, I just like, there's, I mean, just the way that they can space it out now. Back
then they space it out better than now. Like, you know, when I go to the gym on a Saturday morning
and there's no cartoons. Yeah. And the cartoons, it's all like educational informational,
which I get. There's a place for that. But give me some loony tunes, man. Give me, give me
something I can eat my breakfast to. And that's another weird thing. Like, you go back and you
realize that only four episodes that had the Tasmanian devil in it existed. Yeah. Or Marvin the
Martian does like three appearances. And don't even get me started on Michigan J Frog. And this
one appearance. Yeah. Exactly. Exactly. But I will tell you, we're excited to see this thing. We're
ready for it. Go do the website. BadstreetUSafilm.com. Yes. Videofest.org. Because I'm going to
tell you something, you don't want to miss this premiere. I'm telling you now, we're going to be
there. And we're looking forward to it, big time. And hey, like us on Facebook. We did that a long
time ago, sir. All right. And we have a Twitter handle too. Oh, please.
On Twitter, we're a bad street film. And Facebook Facebook.com slash bad street USA film.
I cannot wait. Hey, could I do something? Please do. Can I give one shot?
Please do. That's been listening. We built a tire show. We build an entire career on shadows.
I want to give a shout out to my buddy Nick Gibbons. And he's in Atlanta. Oh. And one of the
funniest guys I've ever known in my life. Well, I'll be representing him Saturday night when I
get to the braves. All right. So I've been a bravest fan since I was a kid because in South
Florida, we didn't have baseball. That was the closest city we had. And TBS showed that right after
wrestling. So it was perfect for me back in the day. Well, and Nick is Nick has a kick-started
campaign that's going on right now. So I think if you search, it's called dark alley.
Okay. And he's trying to raise money to do a pilot. And it's, I mean, he's just amazing.
Very funny. So anyway, he has been texting Kelly. Oh, the whole show like when's keep coming
up. He's been here the whole time. But we're all about shameless self promotion. Trust me.
Let's get into. Let's segue this right into movie talk. We go right into box office numbers.
One movie drops out of the top 10 this week. It is the expendables three drops from 10 to 12 with
$1.8 million. You want total box office on this, sir? That's going to hurt it. It's 36.7.
Wow. What is the budget on it? I don't have the budget. Box office mojo does not have the
budget. With that cast. Yeah. Unless they got paid scale. But moving up this week from 11 to 10
is Lucy. Lucy back in the top 10 with $1.9 million for a seven week total of $121.2 million
on a $40 million budget. Wow. Not doing well this week. The day viewing and 11th is a movie that
if you want to know what we listen to, you should probably subscribe on iTunes. The identical
makes just under $2 million. I'm going to go ahead and say it. I liked this movie. So did I. You
can really enjoy this movie. And it's really getting a bum rap and it really upsets me.
Moving on. Saying in ninth place this week, not a lot of movement in the top 10 because this is
now where now into the fall season, people have gotten off vacations, gone back to work, things
like that, gone back to school. So not a lot of movement, not a big box office weekend.
Oh, I got the budget on expendables three. And it was. Oh God.
Ouch. Get ready. This is going to hurt 90.
That is unfortunate. We will not be seeing expendables. I don't think so. We made
I could be expendables at this point. Maddie, I'm not sure what you're asking, honey. We did
talk about WWE in my life. Ninth place staying in ninth place is the Oprah Steven Spielberg joint
venture. The 100 foot journey makes $3.2 million for a five week total of just at $46 million
on a $22 million budget. But it also added 249 theaters after five weeks, which is odd.
Staying in eighth place is the giver. Giving is a modus operandi.
Makes $3.6 million for a four week total of $38 million on a $25 million budget.
I've heard good things, but I don't really have much for it. Staying in seventh place was the
faith-based film when the game stands tall about a high school football team. $3.7 million
for a three week total of $23.5 million on a $15 million budget.
Uh, can we go back to expendables again? Sure. Why not?
We're only at the, I don't know, two hour 15 minutes. What we were talking about expendables for.
This was confirmed in March of 2014. Pierce Brosnan stating he had agreed to star in a future
expendable sequel. And Hulk Hogan claimed on his Twitter account that he will be in the
fourth. Dude, just thought it would kind of tie into our, you know, are they going to film it at
the Silver Dome? I don't know if you heard about that football. Don't tell Hogan.
WrestleMania 30 was at the Super Dome and he kept calling it the Silver Dome.
Yeah, that good. Um, dropping from four to six this week, and that building is not even there
anymore. Yeah. Dropping from four to six this week is the new, um,
this found feature film as above so below that I will not see too creepy. Let me put it to this
way. When you're two miles underground and you see your car, don't touch it.
$3.7 million for a two week total of $15.5 million. Dropping from six, uh, no,
from up from six to five is the aforementioned Pierce Brosnan vehicle, the November man,
which I kind of want to see. It looks decent. $4.2 million for a two week total of $17.9 million.
I do not have a budget on that either. Still in the top five, up from five to four,
the comedy Let's Be Cops, $5.4 million, $4 weeks, $67 million, $17 million budget.
Now going up, your top three all stay the same this week. This since we didn't have a show last
week and you didn't go check box office, Mojo, you probably wouldn't know what those were. So
let's tell you in the bronze medal, the teen drama, if I stay, makes another $5.7 million for a
three week total of $39.7 million on an $11 million budget. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
Still in the top two. Really? I've heard mixed reviews. I can't watch till it comes on cable. I just
can't do it. But it makes another $6.5 million, $5 weeks, $175 million, $125 budget. So it's made
its money plus the rule of 50. But still at number one, because there is justice in the world.
Guardians of the Galaxy, I could not be happier how well this movie's doing. Another $10.1 million
for a six week total of $294.6 million, $170 million budget. Now breaks worldwide the top 50 grossing
films of all time as of today. This could not be happier about this. And it's not done. Yeah,
believe me. And now what do we say now, Chad? Is the third biggest film of the year? Yes. No,
I thought it was. It was now. It's the biggest hit of the summer. I don't know if it's the
biggest of the year. I think it is. So I think it's set the record. I am so excited how well this
movie's doing. Congratulations, James Gunn and everybody involved in that. Even the back T-step.
I couldn't be happier about it. So let's get into some headlines. Interesting headline hits this
week as it is announced that Blade will be returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Wesley
Snipes is on board. Of course he is. Is he going to be the RS vampire? They'll probably be a payroll
company that takes care of his checks on this one. Maddie says she loved divergent. She wouldn't
saw that and she enjoyed that very much. I just I don't know. I just I liked it when it was the
Hunger Games. But maybe but again, me not the target demographic. So there's that. But you like
the Hunger Games. I did enjoy but I really enjoyed the second one and very much looking forward
to the third and fourth one, which is really technically just both the third one.
Now I've gone cross-eyed. What's new? And in the news that's not going to make Don real happy.
How to train your Dragon 3 has been pushed back to 2017.
Do I run a studio?
I just I just report. I report the news, sir. Oh, I love train. I love Dragon. I love it. I love
I enjoyed I enjoyed both of that. I have to wake.
But you just watched these the first one. The second one over and over again. Be fun.
I know but that's three years. But I was a whole animated television series. You can be watching
another. Oh yeah, that's good point. It has a fair point. It's Dragon. I love Dragon.
And this is my hero. Interesting rumors that are currently being shot down but not disappearing.
Benedict Cumberbatch to play Martian Manhunter. Oh, dear God. I'm in. Oh, dear God.
Especially the John Jones side of it. I can see that. Heck yeah.
But he's saying that's an interesting rumor. I hadn't heard it. I love him a Sherlock.
I see I've heard such great things. That's just like I want to watch that. What's this one that
is it Luther that Idris Elba's doing? That I've heard amazing things about on it's on the BBC.
I think it's in the third series now. Yeah. That new series that Ian McKellen does.
Called Vicious. Have you seen that? Oh, no. I haven't. Well, we've been we've been
watched Sherlock on Netflix. I believe it was. I believe they have. Yeah. Oh my. I've heard such
good things. But there's like three episodes of a season. Oh, really? You can catch up. Okay.
That's encouraging to me. That's very encouraging. It was really small. Then they're like
are you watching or are you watching elementary? No, because I kind of wonder how those compare to
each other and Johnny Lee Miller is is I really like him as an actor. But no, we haven't we haven't
started that one. I always forget that was Angelina Jolie's first husband. Oh, that's right.
Yeah, from hackers. Oh, wow. That's they started. They started together in hackers. And if you
got you talk about a movie that does not hold up well. Oh, well. When you have a movie with
1994 technology, when it was cutting edge, dude, it's a 26.2 mode and we're going to be flying.
I remember watching that. Oh, yeah. It's a kid coming on college and it's just like this is a cool
movie. The laptop. Yeah. The laptop. The laptop. He opens up looks like it could kill a mule.
It looks like a brick. Yeah. It has now been confirmed that doing the rock Johnson will be playing
black Adam in the Shazam movie. Perfect. In. In. In. Did I mention how in I am on this?
We have not amounts who's going to be playing the Shazam role. But if they had made him Shazam,
I would have been cool with it. But not nearly as cool as him playing the bad guy.
Because it's it's perfect for him. But it was officially a verified I believe yesterday.
Quentin Tarantino announces that the hateful eight will hit theaters in the fall of 2015. No
casting name news has been made yet. There is a teaser trailer on the internet. I mean,
if you want to see it. I mean, at one point, he scrapped it because too much of it got out on my
dude's the internet. It's going to happen. By the way, I tell you, I mean, you might have mentioned
that once or twice. Dak Shepherd and Michael Pina are going to do a reboot of chips. Oh, okay.
I meant Michael Pina did that interview. Nice guy. He's after a great watch.
End of watch thing. He's plugging at the time, which was a very good film.
It's like, is it your favorites last year? Yeah. It was one of my favorites of that year.
But one of my top 10, but you know, it's just going to be good for Pina because he's had
some great roles. You know, you know, it's going to be very tongue-in-cheek because Dak Shepherd
is also going to write and direct it. Yeah. So and is I believe, isn't he also married to?
Well, not to mill. Oh, they are married. Yes. I thought that they were going to get married. They
were putting off getting married until the prop 8 thing was worked out. And now that they said
they can get married now, but I'm not sure they actually got married yet. Dak Shepherd?
Yeah. Why would he need prop 8? Because they were supporting
equal rights. Oh, oh, okay, okay, okay, okay. I know she's having their second kid now.
So there's that. Fans of frozen rejoice. You're getting a new short film in the
spring of 2015. Yeah. Why you wouldn't get it in the winter?
It's a little beyond me. Yeah, let's do the Christmas story.
Reborn and lost. But it's going to be it's going to be set on on Anna's birthday as
Christoph and Elsa plan a royal celebration. You know what? I own it. I own it because my niece
is so ape over it. And we bought it side unseen and we brought it home and we watched it.
Too much singing. Really? My thing was I know there was too much singing. It was like two lines
of dialogue. Another song. Two lines of dialogue. Another song. I was like, okay, you get it.
I kind of I agree with you somewhat. Since June we have been to four musicals. But those are
stage musicals. And this is when I watch when I watch a Disney film. Let's go back and watch
Beauty and the Beast. How much dialogue is in that film? Compare that to this. Beauty and the
Beast from a dialogue standpoint is like bajillion times more. I need a little bit of breathing time
between my songs and a Disney film. I don't remember that much singing. Oh, I do. I don't
own it too. And frozen or Beauty and the Beast. And frozen. Oh, there's a ton of it. Not as much as
you're talking about. The ton of it. I'm just not on the on the frozen bandwagon. I'm sorry.
Yeah, they were mine. I thought it was okay. It was good. It was good. The animation looked gorgeous
especially on my TV. But it was not as good as Train Your Trigger or something like that.
My opinion. It had a really amazing message. Oh, it did. Right. It's a great message.
It's a great message. Yeah. Now, I'm a big fan of Josh Gad who plays Olaf. I like him a lot. And
so I enjoyed watching him because I thought he was great on 1600 pet. Oh gosh. Why did they take
that off? I know. That was such a great way. See, one thing that upset me about that show is when
he did his podcast. And he had the version of my microphone. But it's the one that I want. It's
the black with the red. And I'm like, you know how hard I'm looking for that microphone and
you're using it as a prop. I realized that James. James Headfield has all of them. Yes. That
was that was my next point. Terminator Genesis is going to be a trilogy. And it is that is on your
run sheet. That is the proper spelling G E N I S Y S. That is how they're spelling it.
Do they have me spelled check it or what? No. Okay. Genesis systems. Okay.
Usually when I spell check that's my spell check. The first one will come out July the first
2015 today for my birthday. May 19th 2017 for the second June 29th 2018 for the third.
So fans of that be ready for that. We also know that the equalizer based on the old TV series with
Denzel Washington is coming out soon. But what we also found out this week is apparently Denzel
Washington wants to be your next James Bond. No. All right. Okay. That's my Jins. I don't think I
would buy that. Idris Elba. I'm more on board with. I think because I'm a big fan of Idris Elba. I
like Kevin Smith with Ben Affleck. If you redo jobs, you can make Idris Elba the shark. And I'm okay
with it. Like I am such he is when he was Stringer Bell on the wire. One of the greatest television
villains in the history of the medium. The wire was such an amazing show and it is getting remastered
for Blu-ray. I believe next month. But Denzel. That's like having Jackie Chan play Dick Tracy. I'm
sorry. Wow. That's done for. He is done at the clubhouse podcast. I'm probably male. How
ready for me? Bring it on. But for me, Denzel maybe aged out a little bit. Yeah. That's something
Idris Elba I think would be a better James Bond. And he's got that smooth thing going for him
that I can't seem to master. So. I just can't see Denzel. I'm sorry. No, I can't either.
You've done some great stuff. You're one of the all-time greats. But no. You don't need this. No.
Have you still haven't seen that YouTube video about him? Have you?
Where it takes every film he's ever used to. We're guaranteed and then put some all together. There's
like seven. I guarantee. All right. I forgot to get to one place that I've got to get to for
this next part because when we talk about movie new releases in places that you see movie new releases
in this coming week. And of course, this is the day that everything drags. Okay. First up is a movie
called My Old Lady. So our Kevin Klein, Maggie Smith and Kristen Scott Thomas. What a great cast.
Kevin Klein plays a man by the name of Matthias Gold. He's a down on his luck New Yorker who inherits
a Parisian apartment from his estranged father. Okay. Now I remember because I've seen the trailer for
this, but he goes to France and he basically finds out that he has a live intent that's not leading.
And so he's trying to figure out how to get her to move. It's Maggie Smith. Yes. Oh, awesome.
And it's the trailer looks really, really funny. And it's amazing. And you don't. It's kind of
weird to say, but the older Kevin Klein gets the funnier he's getting. Like when I was a kid, I loved
him. And I always thought he was comedic genius, but he's getting funnier as he's getting older.
Because he's learned how to do that straight man, not straight man comedy thing. It's amazing.
Also this week, and this is a phantom entertainment deal. One of their events that they're doing.
Speaking of phantom, we've got some tickets to give away. If you're available Saturday night for the
Pacquiao, fun on Pacquiao, Mayweather. Mayweather's fighting this Saturday. And we have some passes for
AMC North Park. So email me. Rob at the spot. 30. I thought it was at the North Park. No,
I'm a ski 30. This is a ski 30. Okay. I'm a ski 30. You can email me. Rob at the clubhousepodcast.com.
And I'll give them to the people that want them. And then I run out. I'll tell you we ran out.
Because that's how we roll. But Durand Durand unstaged. This is a backstage look at the band.
That is going to be airing and fathom it. It'll also be out in theaters. All say band.
I love to know what. I love them. So great. They are so great. They were my first concert.
Really? Which tour? 1984.
1984. Seven of the rocket tiger? Yes. That's another band. I think they got better as they got older.
Love. Ordinary world. Absolutely. That's the wedding album. Amazing.
Amazing. They didn't really care for the old stuff. But once they got there, when they matured,
that's what I really got into them. But we talked about the aforementioned
Idris Elba. His brand new movie comes out this week called No Good Deed
with Taraji P. Henson. Terry is a devoted wife and mother of two who lives an ideal life. It
takes a dramatic turn when her home and children are threatened by colony. Charming stranger who
smooth talks his way into her house claiming car trouble. It's creepy. Unexpected invitation leaves
her and her family terrorized and fighting for survival. So it's a romantic comedy.
The dolphin tail too because there were so many unanswered questions from a dolphin tail.
Comes out this week. Harry Connick Jr. Morgan Freeman, Chris Kristofferson, and Ashley Judd.
We have a Chris Kristofferson appearance, sir. Basically, there's another dolphin that's
delivered to them. Oh, with the same problem. No, this is more of a rescue kind of a thing.
And the dolphin from the first one, they kind of bond. They need to bond it with a female dolphin
because the other one's taking a turn. Also, I like the first one. I like the cast involved in
this thing. It got a little sappy for me. Also, a movie called The Skeleton Twins.
When you give me names like Bill Hater and Kristen Weigh, I'm already in. But you also add Luke
Wilson, Ty Burrell as well. When a strange twins, Maggie and Milo feel that they're at the end
of their ropes and unexpected reunion forces them to confront why their lives went so wrong.
As they reconnect, they realize the key to finding their lives may just lie in repairing their
relationship. I'm a fan of these two. I enjoy their fine work and it kills me that they're not
on SNL anymore. Also, a movie we're going to be checking out very, very soon called The Disappearance
of Eleanor Rigby. This is a very kind of a dark romantic comedy kind of a thing.
Interesting trailer. Check it out as well. But one movie that I think everybody's going to want to
check out this week is called The Drop. Tom Hardy, New Me Repays, James Gandalfini. Basically,
Gandalfini and Tom Hardy work at a bar. It's called The Drop Bar. It's where mob money is kind of
dropped in hell until the next person gets it picked up. Well, the bar gets robbed and things go
horribly wrong from there. Dude, it's Tom Hardy and James Gandalfini. What else do you need?
Well, this began off in his final role. No, they've already released that film where they're
getting ready to. But this is one he did before. Also, a movie called Honeymoon. I've seen the trailer
for on nothing but trailers. Basically, there's a young lady and her brand new husband that go to a
big city take their honeymoon at this cabin out in the woods. Do I need to go any further? No.
And things get weird from there. Also, a movie called Take Me to the River, which I need to find,
and I don't know why I don't have a water. Basically, it celebrates basically the music of Memphis
during the 50s and 60s. Terrence Howard, Mavis Staples, Snoop Dogg, is involved in this thing.
He said, Mavis, you had my time. Yeah, so it's a documentary about the Memphis music scene
in the 50s and 60s. Kind of muscle shows set in a different city, basically. And muscle shows I
have not watched and I feel guilty about that because I really want to see that as well.
Blu-ray and DVD new releases in places you get Blu-ray new releases in sometimes. Do you like
Paul Walker? Do you like parkour? Then we have the movie for you. It's called Brick Manchins. I'm
actually really interested in this because I've heard of a couple of times and said it's a fun
way to spend about an hour and a half. It's kind of a crime film with parkour. You see what I did
there? You're welcome internet. Brick House. Also, we talked earlier briefly mentioning the Dallas
International Film Festival and the movie that opened the Dallas International Film Festival,
finally arrives on Blu-ray and DVD this week that Don and I got to see and absolutely loved
called Words and Pictures. Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful movie. I absolutely dug it. Clive Owen,
Juliet Binoche, their teachers, they basically get their kids into a debate of what's more powerful
words or pictures. Kelly, you were there, I believe. You missed that one. I thought you thought
we saw you that night. Watch this movie. You see it and you're like, okay, this premise has
been done a million times and then you watch it and you're like, it's so well written and the
performances are so solid, you could do it a million more times. And their chemistry is amazing
in this film. Also, Captain America, The Winter Soldier, DVD and Blu-ray this week,
Marvel does the spy thriller and it is awesome. And the documentary fed up, which we talked
about on the show a few months ago, about nutrition in America. That's available. Or a lack of any.
If you know what I mean. Anything for Tech Corner this week, sir. No, let's get to the list.
All right, we close every show with a list. Tonight is no exception, even though we're running
way over. Chad, you're going to have to go quickly before we hit our three hour limits. Okay.
Favorite animated series of the 90s. Is that a coincidence? No. Okay, just make it true.
Although we do our research, sir, yeah. Although Jimmy Neutron happened in the Outs.
Yes, it didn't really happen in the 90s. The series premiered in 2002. Right. You probably
had to plan it together. You have a correction. Yes. I don't know. Rigs before we get any shirts
this Friday. Limited release. Limited. Okay. Okay. We got our screenings next week. Okay. All right.
Very quickly. Number 10. This is number 10. No particular order except for number one.
Number 10. Courage to cowardly dog. Not a huge fan. I love that show. I know you did, but
I was on the huge fan. The first four on the list are mainly ones that I watched with the kid.
Oh, yeah, it's my goddaughter. And they're all cartoon network series. So number 10. Courage to
cowardly dog. Number nine. The Powerpuff Girls. You know what? I can't debate that because I,
I took your daughter to the movie. Yep. And as well as another young lady with the same name.
And they were what? Four and five. Something like that. In the middle of the day on a Friday,
I picked them up early from school and sent them to the Powerpuff Girls movie. Wow. I was a brave man
back then. She would drag me into her room to watch this. I don't want to watch this. Hey,
this is actually pretty funny. That's a good show. It's a good show. Right behind it, Dexter's Lab.
Now see, that I'm on board with. Dexter's Laboratory was absolute genius. Number seven. I'm
going to do Frommage. Johnny Bravo. Yeah, I see Johnny Bravo had moments for me. Johnny Bravo was a
good show, but there were certain parts that I was like, okay, I just, I loved him. I just,
just him as a character. Describe me. Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey. Number six is actually in a
malgum because one spun off from the other. Fair enough. Animaniac slash pinky in the brain.
You better believe it. You better believe it. Animaniac's when the grace animated shows in the
history of F bar. What are we going to do tonight? No, that's a movie. That's a movie.
And you watched the Animaniac's because you had the Wheel of Morality. Wheel of Morality. Turn,
turn, turn, tell us the lessons that we should learn. Number five.
If if this series doesn't happen, I doubt Animaniacs or pinky in the brain happens.
Tiny tunes. Tiny tunes adventures. Tiny tunes adventures. Absolute genius. How I spent my summer.
So they also the spring break one. Yes, they did. But my favorite part of the spring break one was when
El Maira hires Tommy Lee Jones, the hunt down buster, because she thinks he's the Easter bunny.
He's like, I don't bargain. And she says, I have Harrison Ford in the cage at my house.
I don't want to plucky is in is in Hampton's family's car. There's a car. There's a car. There's a car.
I want to slow down, Grandpa, you might run, roll this thing. Good idea, Mr. Plucky duck.
Plucky's like, shoot me. Number four. I see here we go.
Forth will, God. Forth will. We're on the axis, but we might wait to finish that. At this point,
the spare is out of the trunk. The spare is on the freeway at this point. That's what I mean. When
drop us at the finish slide, don't hit the perqual. Number four, Rennon Stimpy. Oh, absolutely.
We were to run through in a step before season one. Yes, yeah, the early years of Rennon Stimpy.
The first season. Great. I cannot walk through. I cannot walk through a forest and see a log and not
think of Rennon Stimpy. I can't do it. Everyone loves log. And powder tell me that it's good.
Number three, South Park. Until the film. Until the movie. The first two or three scenes is in that show.
Some of the most irreverent comedy I've ever seen on TV. No, they're still going. They're still going.
They're going. They're going. They know the thing that makes that show so great. No person, no famous person
is out of bounds. No topic is out of bounds. They don't care who you are, what you are. If you're in
news, you are going to rip. I agree. But I just think the quality of that show before the movie was
better because they it was consistent. Once the gloves came off and there was no boundary that they
couldn't cross. It was like, it's like family guy is now that they're still pushing that envelope.
And then I had to worry about stepping over a line. But I love family guy. Number two, Beavis and Butthead.
You know what? And I resisted the Beavis and Butthead thing for years. And then I finally said,
all right, I'm going to sit down. I'm going to watch this stupid show. And then I got through it.
I'm like, why am I not watching this show? And why can I stop laughing at it? Because the videos alone
worked totally worth it. And so like one of my favorite moments was when they broke Stuart's mom's
China. And they're like, there's like a French word for what has this stuff happens. And it's kind of weird.
It's cool. Sure. Why not? Thank you, Mike judge. Number one, you know what I'm going to say.
Oh, you know what? Give me a minute. I can probably keep it up for you. What would you play if you just
give me just a moment? Is it anything that maybe sounds like this? No, not that one. Hold on.
Crap. Hold on. Hold on. Hold on. Hold on.
I had to, I queued the wrong one up. I queued the wrong one up. The axles about to grind out.
Come on. Shut your face. Why aren't you?
Yeah. Sounds like that. Sounds like someone like that. Maybe
the animated series that made Kevin Conroy the man he is.
There's a reason there's like a hundred of those around this studio.
Best to this day holds up. Best representation of Batman outside of the Nolan first two films anyway.
They're all one bad. It just wasn't as good as the first two. But the second one was so good.
And there was nothing that was going to live out. I was nowhere to go but down.
Um, I'm anytime I read a Batman comic now. That's the voice I hear.
And what I love is that Conroy still embraces it. He fully still is like,
he, people just walk up to him on the street and he does the voice because he,
he knows that's where his money came from. And if you go back because as people know,
I am a podcast nut. Kevin Smith has a podcast called Fat Man on Batman.
If you go back, it's what he calls it. If you go back, I'd have to look. Let me see if I can
find it. They did a Batman 70, because Batman turned 75 in July. And so they did a panel
in New York. Let me see if I can find it. Yeah, it's from the May 13th episode.
It's Fat Man on Batman episode 69 from the Paley Center. And I'm not going to ruin it
because I want you to go listen to it. There's a story that Kevin Conroy tells
about volunteer work he did right after 9-11 in New York. That will break a mortal man.
Like you, you, you think the guy's kind of cool and whatnot. This story cements him as one of
the coolest individuals that has ever walked the planet. And the fact that he, you know, he doesn't
have to. I mean, when was the last episode of that? What? 98? At the latest?
Give or take, but you also have to factor in Justice League. But I'm just talking about
from Batman the animated series. To this day, he still does all the shows. He still does the
cons. He still does the Q and A. He still goes up and gives the love to the fans.
He's still on the video game series. Exactly. Because he is the voice of Batman. That
seriously. That series was so brilliant on so many levels. They weren't afraid to kill people.
Which was great. They kept the spirit of Batman.
Denient him never compromised. No. You know, they're like, well, it's too violent. Okay,
well, we'll give you a robin. Well, okay, it's still too violent. Then we're done. Like,
that's how that went. And they stayed true to who he is. And the storytelling was so amazing.
If you've never watched Batman the animated series, do yourself a solid.
Number one, what the heck is wrong with you? I do have to add an honorable mention to the
place. Please do. One SpongeBob square pants started in 99. Not a huge SpongeBob.
Oh, I love SpongeBob. That's why I didn't make my list. I'm just saying that that's one I would
put on the top 10 spots. But you know what? I had to leave a freakish audience. I told this story
the other day. I will never forget where he lives. No, you better not.
We were playing trivial pursuit one night. And I tried. I pride myself on being a kid's version,
by the way. No, this was full blown dull version. Okay. Because I am the king of useless knowledge.
And I got all the way to the end, got to the center. And the question was, where does SpongeBob
square pants live? And I went, I don't under the snow. And we live in a pineapple. We all broke into
the theme song. And he's like, everybody in the room knew what could mean. I will never not know
that again. It was like watching Paul Freeman at the end of Raiders when the arc opened the
hands aside the head explosion. No, I was so mad. You were mortified at that. That hurt.
Almost genuinely physically hurt me. Almost as bad as as where did Johnny Utah go to school.
Oh, that's Chad myself and a buddy of ours auditioned for the World Series of Pop Culture.
Yeah, they about six or seven years ago. No, the second was the second season. We went down to
Austin. We have, we have bowling shirts from it and everything that we had made ourselves for
a team. Three horse, but three horsemen. You'll appreciate that. Um, bombed out in the written
test round because there were so many teams out there. But the first question on the, on the
written test was, where did KNR Reeves's character go to college and point break? Wow.
And everybody, everybody thought it was Utah. It's like, no, his character's name was Johnny Utah.
He went to USC. So we went, we, as soon as it was done, we ran back to our hotel room and I looked
up the script on the internet and I went through it until I found it because I was like, how did we
lose this? I was like, oh, that's another thing that they hold over my hand. We know how to
hold it over your head. It's just that's one of those things we'll always remember because the
moment we opened the door to the hotel room, Rob had a Tourette's outburst. Allegedly.
He said, he darned that. Yeah. He said, he said one word about 80 times.
Chuck, Chuck, Chuck, Chuck. Allegedly, there were no recording devices that can prove that.
It's not the internet. So it's true. Oh, it's not on the internet, sir. It was on the internet.
That's a whole different ball of wax. Anything else, gentlemen, lady? Anybody want any more
honorable mentions? I figured you'd have at least one or two. I think you got me covered.
Because like I said, I think it's oiled, you know, and he acts Batman. I wasn't big into
Tasmania. I watched it a little bit. Fabulous Thunder Lizards. I enjoyed just because they had
man in the box by Allison Chains as the theme song. Did they? Yeah, but it was it was all it was
is a don't don't don't just the riff just the riff. Yeah. And then those were those were kind of
funny, but I think a lot of a lot was a lot of good quality animated series, especially in the
early to mid 90s. That's your boy. That's all I'm saying. That's your boy. When did Harvey
Bertman come out? Oh, was was was Bertman early odds? Yeah, because they made the game out of it.
When was it early 2000s? Because I want to I want to put space coast to coast on there,
but I was such a great show though. That was the Brax show 90s. If it was, it wasn't by much.
Because that's one of my facts. Brax presents the Brax show starring Brax. I've got the soundtrack.
Oh, it's great. It's so great. Banana check. That's so great. That's the one they were going
searching now when they were searching for Gary Owens's voice. It's all right. I kept getting
the back of his chair kicked by Brax. Gary Owens, one of the nicest people I ever worked on.
Actually, fact check. Come official fact checker. 2000 is when started actually. Okay, so it wouldn't
have been a 90s card. Yeah, December 21st 2000 was a peak of then then it started officially
September 2nd 2001 and kept on going till the web episodes in 2007. Yeah, yeah, yeah, okay.
All right, we're at the 247 marks. So we should let these nice people go on about their lives.
