Want to take a moment just to thank everybody that came out to Don Carlos Mexican restaurant down in Waco yesterday. To help support a charity called I can feed the forgotten child. Grace D went down there and did what we did.

Had a great time doing it and that's some new friends. I want to send a quick shout out to the band. Defection out of San Antonio came and did a great job.

Guy by the name of Grumpy Jack came and did his deal. Our friend Paul did a little singing as well. Met some more friends for the 10th Lepper band as well.

Had a great time down there. Raise a lot of money for those kids and we're very excited for them. But enough about me.

But people behind Hannibal very upset. A lot of people are upset that Hannibal got blanked. But the thing about the Emmys, especially the prime time enemies are so many categories.

Well, you know, it's like the Golden Globe is like we're now an hour nine. If your show doesn't make it, it doesn't mean that your show is not good. It's just, it's not great enough to be with the ones that did, you know, come on.

There's lots of movies that don't get known here for best picture and how many people here are them squawking about it. Isn't Hannibal like on just local TV? It doesn't be so.

Yeah, but how is it going to compete with a show on HBO or cable? It's a reason modern family won best comedy. Like three years run in Big Bang Theory.

But, but I mean, but you see what you're saying. Look at the ones that got the most out of it. Yeah, look at that next level.

Yeah, look at the ones that curse and take because Orange this new is a new black is a Netflix show and game of friends is an HBO. But that wasn't even they weren't even there wasn't even a Netflix show nominated until last year House of cards. Yeah, yeah, very first one ever.

And of course Showing that you can't find the word gullible in a dictionary. I don't know if you heard this story speaking of Orange at the new black. Oh, oh, Empire Empire dot com, which is like the onion.

So you already know where we're going with this. Mm-hmm. Published as the story yesterday saying Orange is the new black has been canceled by Netflix because the the founder of Netflix wants more guys on the show said in a woman's prison and I was like this seems fishy to me.

Yeah, when I heard about it and I thought it's more yes, it was a hoax. So yeah, a lot of people freaking out It's like dude Interest generated. That's all it talks.

Yeah, it's done. It's job. No such thing as bad publicity so to speak.

Another big announcement from the cast of arrow season three is getting huge not only are we going to get the atom this year who will be played by one brand in Ruth? Okay, so he goes from Superman to the atom But also we talked we've talked on this show about Robbie and Mal who was the cousin of Stephen and Mal who plays Oliver Queen. He was on a show called the tomorrow people on the cw Which followed arrow which was kind of cool.

That shows been canceled. Well The producer said arrow said no, we'll go ahead and bring him on our show. He's going to play firestorm So arrow season four is is beefing it up Yeah, that's all I'm saying Plus he's going to be doing some crossover stuff with the flash too.

Yeah, you see him and if you haven't seen the flash trailer number one Why not? I'm gonna do yourself a solid number three. He shows up in that trailer like three times Very excited about what's going on right now with the cw especially from their superhero things And fans of orphan black rejoice It was announced just just yesterday.

I believe or a fried-am sorry Orphan black is gonna get season three. I've heard very very good things about this show have not seen it personally, but I felt a lot of people going no dude. This is show is really really good I've heard nothing about it.

What's the jizz really? Yeah, I mean, I've heard of it But I don't know what the show is about. I just I've heard the title.

Oh really. Yeah, it's like American Horror Story It's a completely different story. We talked about them.

Well, there was talk of them keeping the same cast But now they're saying that we're just gonna go complete different direction here So I thought season was very good again thought it had a bit of a scooby do ending, but that's just me Why did the finale take place at an amusement park or something? That's how I'm saying Farmer Murphy this coming season of sons of anarchy will be the last one I know where you're going with this Being featured in this final season of sons of anarchy Courtney love and Marilyn Manson. Courtney love playing a preschool teacher Yeah, that's happening and what's Manson a sunny school teacher Also that was a complete stop down.

Okay, there's that Speaking of what I thought she was on Glee's final season Has been cut to 13 episodes Because Lord knows we haven't heard anything about showing about two or three years. So my disappointed no No, it's it's got an audience. I got less of and you know normally I would be into stuff like I've tried to watch that show four or five times And I'm just like didn't they do a prince episode?

No, I thought they did a little Michael Jackson that is a rocky horror It did the Madonna they didn't have a Donna and Those are the song they put this show they put this song back on the map. No, those are the ones that I was really You know focusing on and I'm just like no, this did nothing for me Also Rosie O'Donnell now returning to the view now the Elizabeth Hasselbeck is gone And boy that got ugly in a hurry online. Well, not even online, but on her return her departure Her return really yeah, apparently Elizabeth Hasselbeck is attached to some fox Talk show of course she is on fox news.

She is they're demographic and she called in while she was on vacation and said that It's spitting in the face of the of the American military and Spitting in the face of the network and then joy. They are fired a shot at Elizabeth saying it's disrespectful It's below the belt you're at complete. You're taking things completely out of context.

You know shut up and get on with your life Isn't that kind of a pot and candles that she was kind of kind of kind of Hasselbeck's the one who said in early on in that show that she won't even look at another guy in public because she doesn't want to be tempted To even think about cheating on her husband. She's a loon. I'm sorry.

I mean she was she was a nice cute sweet little girl on on Survivor on the Survivor season that we watched her on but when she was still we didn't have a large ski Yeah, we didn't realize the level of crazy. I will purchase it and I will watch them It's the entire series in one set they're not doing it by season.

It is a segment we do on this show where we Take a person or an entity and we debate their greatness or lack of their of and right now The pendulum swings the chat A friend of my daughters came over yesterday and She works at one of the local radio stations really mm-hmm and of in a fairly decent, you know job title But the amount of time that she's allowed to contribute there is slim to none and The sad thing is that's where her passion is her passion is broadcasting It's not fashion.

No, okay But I brought up to her What we are doing right now right and you should have seen the look on this girl's face really I'm currently one of the millions and I'm hoping I did texture and encouraged her to listen to night She's a little person whose name chat is not so yeah, you're an early family. Oh hell of a Sweet girl went to school with Megan back when she was in great school and You know, she has other interest. She's she does piercings and she's into tattooing and stuff like that But she really wants to pursue a future in radio and I told her I said well Unfortunately You're kind of trying to jump into this.

You're about 20 years less as as as radio is gasping its last breath Terrestrial radio anyway But you know, you and I have both experimented and and enjoyed Listening to satellite radio big fans but you know with the whole oh an a scandal that happened recently You know even that is been falling on some shaky legs and we won't go in a detail on that because I don't know We think we need to talk about last week. Yeah. Yeah.

I just know no sense in bringing it up again but You know You think that you've got your your whole I can say what I want do what I want there and no repercussions and they found out well at least Anthony and Kumi I found out the hard way that not necessarily you know you do still have to watch what you say and who you say it do And so when I told her what kind of freedom Podcasting gives you and it does that they I was pointing to my laptop I'm like you want to know with a future of radio lies that's it right there okay um And you know as as much as we we have enjoyed this whole for a considering that this is Episode you know episode one of season five two hundred and sixty plus the I mean we we do this like we wouldn't you win in a great deal Detail about this last week that we don't do this because it makes us a ton of money. It doesn't make us at time We lose money on this thing but we love doing it and we're hoping that it will lead to something bigger in grander somewhere down the road But if you have a true passion for doing something like this and it doesn't really make a difference to you Whether it pays the bills or not This is where your future in radio really is because it's it's a fiercely competitive market It's cut throat doggy dog More often than not you wind up working in an apartment of a station that's out in Timbuck somewhere You know you're you're working nowadays anyway you're working you know the graveyard shift playing old Hank Williams records and you know and you're a speed metal freak That's gonna drive you insane But here on this medium You pick the format yep you pick the hours at your on yep you pick what you play well in some cases in most cases in podcasting Yes, um, there are certain broadcasting websites. It's like we're on you stream You stream really doesn't care what we do or when we do it, right?

But there are other sites and I don't want to mention anything Talk radio Where You they basically they tell you If you want to be on at this time you can but if you want to be on this time you have to pay us for it Which I think is kind of crappy it is but but but it's still it's not it's not prohibiting you from doing it period You can still do it. It's just constantly a couple of months You know, so that's not you know if that's what's stopping you then you know You'll pick another pick another medium to broadcast on or pick another you know streaming surface or something There are a ton of them out there or you can just go strictly on iTunes You know or just put it up on your own website. You know, it's the you are limited only by You know the constraints of your technological know how and that's where some people I think really fall into They'd love to do it but they don't have the slightest clue as to where to start and that's kind of where she is Okay I'd kind of like to you know take her under our wing a little bit and coach her into because she is really Really fired up about it.

I'm okay It was not the first time we've done that right the last That's that's part of the genius of what we do is and and even if I did terrestrial radio I'm not above helping somebody else get there get their feet under him right somebody did it for us Exactly, you know, I why wouldn't we want to pay that forward right you know is you know Given how much it has done for us personally spiritually You know the friends that we've made The things that we've been able to do you know the things that we've gotten gotten access to just because this is what we're doing as a hobby To me, I would you know, I would want anybody that I would consider a friend of mine to experience Something like this because there's a lot of joy in it absolutely there really is it's like it's like I feel like this is our child and We're watching it grow and go to school and into kindergarten. Yeah, and take its first steps. You know, it's it's a wonderful process It can be painful at times, but it's also something that and I think a lot of people I did a whole blog post if you go to my blog post at uh I think it's your uncle b dot blog spot dot com You can link to it from our website as well www.theclaphousepodcast.com I did an entire blog post called indifference of podcasting What in which you have to understand is This isn't something that happens overnight no and there's a lot of shunny people that get into this thing that think I'm gonna be a YouTube sensation after one post or I'm gonna be a pod I'm you know, I'm gonna be Kevin Pollock or I'm gonna be The heart of Philip DeFranco or after two weeks and it's not like that What you have to understand is podcasting truly right now I'm is still in its wild wild west stage where There's a ton of podcasts.

I don't know that there's any podcast that I would really truly consider unique Because there's so many out there repetition is very very easy to do exactly I like to think that there are certain podcasts I think our podcasts from a technical standpoint is at least ahead of the curve I wouldn't I would say where the best but I like to think that we're ahead of the curve because I've heard some podcasts that Audio quality is terrible and there's no production value right somebody in front of a laptop and a microphone and that's it But I agree that the terrestrial radio is on life support right now I can't tell you the last time I spent more of in 20 minutes on terrestrial radio much less 20 minutes in a shot Usually the only time I hear terrestrial radio is when I turn my car on because I'm waiting for it to find my iPod or I'm I'm listening to XM exact, you know and even XM at a certain level for me is I can't do XM for like extended lengths of time Well depending you know not not at the same channel anyway you got to mix it up a little bit But with my iPod I don't really have to do that I can just let my iPod play well true But you know and that's really You know or if I'm listening to a podcast You know because I listen to a number of podcasts, you know if I miss around the horn or part of the interruption I can get them in my iPod That same day and listen to in the next morning on my way to work, you know, and memo to ESPN Can you stop with Michael Willba on saying check out the podcast on iTunes because the podcast is just simply the audio from that days episode so I've already watched that episode why would I get the podcast because it's the same material You would think they would give you a little bit of something something to give me give you an interview or something But it's literally the audio from that day's episode. I gave Chad his choice and he wanted P.O.I So I'm taking the list and as I was sitting today watching some Television I realized that as I'm getting older I'm finding that I'm getting into things that I didn't think I would get into when I was younger So it's a nice list Is things I never thought I would get into when I was younger Number 10 the oldy station oh Because the oldy station is now playing stuff from what I was young exactly That's why it's called an oldy station K love is now playing 80s music and Charlotte does enjoy her some K love because every time I get into the car where they're she's listening to K love and that's one of things I love a batter she gets it Number nine and we this was P.O.I recently driving over flying I prefer to drive over flying I just do really it's just not it's it's less of a beating I can pack one I want all right, you know I like hitting the open road. I really do You know when I drove to Vegas by myself What it was I did it was when I one of my previous jobs.

I had to drive out there for a trade show because they They'd ship the trade show stuff from Orlando to here instead of Orlando to Vegas and it wasn't gonna make it to Vegas in time So they're like hey, would you drive it to Vegas? On your dime heck yeah Yeah, you need a gas card bro. I'm on the road Exactly how did great time love it because again driving by myself I wasn't on anybody else's schedule right so when I drive it's stop get gas pee get food get back I'm a road like and I'm I'm focused man.

That's good and I never thought I would be more Charles says she's listening to the older stations since she was eight Which means she's been listening to the older stations since about 2002 But uh oh, I just got her I just got her coming from something I post not Facebook finish it charla What I'll tell you I'll tell you later Number eight golf Yeah, you're pretty you are despised golf when I was younger Yeah, but I took it up about a year before I got married Because we were going to Disney for our honeymoon and I've always seen how beautiful the golf course is it Disney war And I was like I and it was included in our honeymoon Packers. I'm like I can't not do it right like they gave me clubs and they gave me shoes and Everything was included and I love golf. I don't get to play it nearly enough I haven't been about a plane years, but I love to play golf And maybe it's because the older I'm getting this the number of sports I can play or getting less and less Number seven doing prison ministry if you to told me even 10 years ago that I'd be doing prison ministry I'd say you're a dirty liar and go away But we were actually talking about it yesterday when Grace Dee was playing down in Waco And I said That's not what I wanted to do that's what I wanted to do It's one of the most rewarding and humbling things I've ever done And we were gonna try to do it this weekend, but I'm gonna be out of town, so But we're gonna be get back on it very very soon.

Number six sushi When I was younger I was like, there's no I mean raw fish. I'm sorry go pound sand. I love sushi I do really I do but because when I realized I When I back home when I would get bagels I would I would put locks on my bagels and some Because so you put locks in your bagels and like yeah, I'm getting sushi dumbbell and I was like That's a valid point because it's just raw spokesman.

That's that's what locks is And got to eat and I love sushi. I do It's not something that you can dive right into. You know, there's a progression involved in eating sushi But I do love it.

I love it very much Number five talk radio go figure I used to be a hey look if it ain't music I ain't listening But the older I'm getting the more I mean, I'm not an MPR guy by any stretch of the image No, that's not twisted, but a good talk show No Not saying this is good, but what I'm saying is it's good enough Yeah, but I do love us in the talk. It's kind of intellectually stimulating talk radio Sometimes it's a good break from music music music music Sometimes I just want to listen to a podcast and it kind of cleanses the palette a little bit And you know part of it's research for this show because it gives me ideas of stuff that we can do Because I guarantee you a lot of the podcast community does that We listen to each other show. Oh, you know, I could do that on my show.

Yeah, like that number four not taking naps I don't like naps What really I do not like naps. I thought I would as I got older Because here's my thing with taking a nap Number one, I can't just take like a 20 minute nap. I can't do it because it takes me 30 minutes to fall asleep So if I do fall asleep and take a nap when I wake up It's like I'm re-waking up all over again.

All right, and I'm just grumpy and I'm sluggish I don't like it. Don't like it even a little bit now there has been times in my life very isolated times Where I've been able to power nap and feel great, but I can count those number of times on one hand with fingers left over Like in college, I could do that. I can't do it now If I'm if I'm taking a nap, I'm down for the count brother, and I'm calling it a day Number three being at home I just like being at home When I was younger, I'm like hey, I'm gonna be mad about 10.

Hey, hey, hey, ladies. It's going on. Hey, lady No, I really wasn't but still I just I like being at home, and I think it's because I worked in the bar scene for so long Then I've just kind of gotten that out of my system I'm just unhappy just hanging at the house having people come hang out watching TV You know breakout a board game if I'm feeling saucy, you know I just like being at home Number two gas mileage I'm finding Kind of the miles to gallon the again on that thing Like when I get uh When I get gas, I actually look at my because I reset my tripodometer every time I get gas because I want to see what kind of gas mileage I'm getting I don't know why But when gas is almost four bucks and gallon you want to know these And number one Documentaries.

Yes, when I was a kid I would not sit through a documentary if you paid me to I couldn't do it I couldn't do it But now probably within the last five years I'm really enjoying a good documentary. I can't watch a documentary on anything There are certain things that I watch documentary if it's a subject that interests me that's one thing But other than that not so much It's sure I was like she loves being home, especially when you have that home that you work so hard to build the makeup on You're absolutely right on that my love You know and I just you know I see friends about like hey, man, let's go to this I'll come here for a couple hours, but you know then it turned into a pumpkin And I thought I was just turning into a hermit, but I think it's just You know, it's just like she says you work hard and hope work hard to make your house a home and right and you want to spend time there Yeah, well it's a reason I call it a comfort zone.
