It is 1224 AM on the East Coast.
It is 1024 PM on the West Coast.
On the 13th of July on the year of our Lord 2013, you can call this episode 0.5 of season 4 because
this is an iTunes exclusive.
We give you the time and date merely for historical purposes.
Again, this is an iTunes exclusive as we like to call it.
An iTunes exclusive episode of the clubhouse.
Welcome.
My name is Rob.
And if you're hearing this, you already have subscribed on iTunes.
We don't have to tell you too.
Joining me across the desk as he does whenever we do one of these shows and looks up for tomorrow night.
We will not be in this studio.
He is Chad.
Good evening sir.
And on the other side of my monitors tonight, joining us for the second iTunes exclusive episode.
She is Chad's wife.
She is of British descent.
And she's probably seen more movie theaters today than she's seen it a very long time
in one day.
She is jewels.
Hi.
Hello dear.
She's here.
We have promised you more iTunes exclusive episodes in season 4 and we're delivering right
out of the gate.
Major announcement coming either tomorrow or next Sunday.
Indeed.
Very excited.
But when we do an iTunes exclusive, I'm sorry.
And iTunes exclusive is usually for a specific reason.
The last one we did, which was the first one we did was for Man of Steel, which we had just seen.
We do the same basic thing tonight as we have just gotten finished watching despicable
me too.
And yes, we may be a little late, but hey, it was well, last weekend was a very busy week.
Yes, sir.
We would have seen it last weekend, but Charlotte was not available.
Right.
We made a commitment to our little sister that we would not see it without her.
She would have been here with us tonight, but she had to get home.
Right.
She's got ready for a party tomorrow.
By the way, happy late birthday to the lovely Alice.
And her mother, I'm sure, will be running around crazily.
Tanya former, we guessed on this show.
And my old man's birthday was yesterday.
Yes, it was.
Major, I wish them a happy birthday and he responded.
Oh, he did.
He did.
Two different comments on that.
Thank me for wish them a happy birthday and thank me for coming to see him in the hospital.
He is home resting comfortably.
And as you saw on the little machine thing, that stretches his knee back and forth.
I think he had just gotten, gotten off of it whenever we got there this afternoon.
Okay.
And now I think he was about to jump back on it whenever we left.
So let's talk about this pickable meet, too.
This is the second weekend this film has been in the theater.
Budget of $76 million.
It had already crossed that budget by the fifth of July.
Current gross as of, well, actually as of the 10th of July.
I've got the third.
I've actually got up today.
Okay.
Total gross through today.
Yes.
In what?
In North America and in other countries and the combined total.
As of July 13th, this pick one me two has grossed $197 million.
800,000.
In North America.
206 million, 800,000 in other countries.
For worldwide total, a 404 million, 600,000.
Good.
Nice.
Wow.
Those are those are superhero numbers.
Yeah.
Can't debate that.
Basically, if you've seen the first despicable me, you know, it is the story of grew.
Played by the great Steve Corel.
Who basically is a bad guy who steals the moon and ends up meeting these three young girls
in an orphanage, ends up bringing them on his own.
Spoiler alert if you haven't seen it.
Where the heck have you been?
And turns into a good guy.
And puts the moon back.
Right.
Put the moon back.
The sequel kind of picks up where the first one left off.
grew has now taken these three young ladies into his care.
Played.
We have Margo voiced by the very popular Miranda Cost Grove.
We also have his very Selena Gomez.
She's looking.
Yes.
Edith, who is voiced by a Dana Gyer.
And Agnes.
The youngest voiced by Elsie Fisher.
And she's just cute as a dog on it.
But adorable on screen.
And Miranda Cost Grove, you would know from Icarly.
She was Icarly.
You might know her from my coat.
I never.
America knows her from Icarly.
You're looking at me when you say it.
I'm like.
Uh, grew has now decided he's going to be a legitimate business man.
I'm not going to give that away.
Just see the film.
Russell Brand returns his doctor in a phario.
Uh, you have other other other people in the film.
Ken Jong.
Kristen Shaw.
And the scene Pet Drod from Saturday Night Live.
And also.
There's somebody else from SNL and this thing.
Kristen, a week.
Kristen, a week.
Of course.
Yes.
Well, she was.
That's what you would know her from.
Right.
But you also have.
Uh, I lost it.
No.
Come on.
I did you lost it.
Years ago.
I never had it.
But he's talking about.
Another.
The other young ladies.
I'm sorry.
Now, live is in this too.
They don't have her list.
I saw it on the app.
But I didn't see it.
The one that was a stewardess.
Yeah.
The stewardess.
Yeah.
She's one of the newer cast members on Saturday Night Live.
Vanessa Banger.
There it is.
And basically, the anti-villin league.
Besides, they need to enlist grew's help because someone is stealing a lot of things that
could lead to people being transformed in certain ways.
And grew has to stop them in the meantime.
grew false in love.
Uh, the minions.
The heavily, of course, involved.
Uh, the directors of the film.
I got to go back a page for that.
Uh,
uh,
peer coffin and Chris run out.
Right, not.
Basically, known for these two films.
We're not also directed the Lorax.
I mean, that's what these guys have done.
Great job.
Love the film.
Uh, we'll start with the film itself.
That peer coffin needs to get some sort of, uh, humanitarian award.
Because not only is he a co-director of this film,
but he voices pretty much every minion.
And on the banner out of the page, I'm currently on where you can already free order the blue right?
Uh-huh.
You know who's announcing it?
Who's announcing the picture announcing the limited time offer to be the first to own it on blue right?
I have to say the following about them.
Beatle beatle beatle beatle.
That's in the trailer.
So I'm not giving you anything.
No.
That is awesome.
And to me with this film,
the directors went, okay,
we know the minions are the reason people are coming to see this.
We need to give them as much screen time as humanly possible,
while still having a story for the character.
Yeah.
There were times when to me the story was secondary.
Yeah.
It really made more minions.
You need more minions.
And you did.
I got a fever.
And the only prescription is more minions.
We went kind of grandma nish on them here.
Because we got more than one strain, so to speak.
Yeah, I mean, this was,
I said it in the theater.
I like this one better than I like the first one by a country mile.
I'm not to say the first one was bad because I bought the first one.
When it came out on Blu-ray without even having seen it.
Yeah.
I don't know.
I think I like them both is there.
I'm right there.
I really can't put one over the other because they're both equally great.
And I think this one, I laughed so much.
This one.
But you've got to admit you laughed mostly because of the because of the minions.
Yeah.
It was mostly because of the minions.
And also, I'm just too.
Oh, Agnes.
Agnes.
Agnes.
Angus.
There was no stakes in this movie.
Did we want it?
So basically, we're going to get to that.
Okay.
So basically, grew gets recruited by the anti-villin league.
Let by.
Go ahead.
How's that?
I like it.
I don't know if I can say it without.
Where's the.
There have.
Oh.
Silas Rem Bottom.
Yeah.
Bottom.
Played by the great Steve Cougan.
Go on.
Huge fan up.
Oh, I love Steve Cougan.
Oh, I love Steve Cougan.
Oh, that's.
Oh, that's.
That's.
And so he goes undercover.
Running a cupcake shop in a mall.
Way undercover.
You'd barely notice the change where he meets.
He's they're looking for the.
For the villain amongst this group of owners.
One of whom played by Ken Jong.
Who the name.
They have him listed by it's not the name in the film.
Oh, really?
No, just as Floyd.
No, say the whole thing.
Um.
And you have Benjamin Bratt.
Yeah, let's talk about this.
Playing a character named Ed Wardo.
And I don't want to give away too much.
Because if you, I get it.
You haven't seen the film.
Go see it.
You'll figure it out fairly quickly.
There's no doubt in my mind.
Uh.
Replacing.
In that role.
With what two months before the release date.
Uh, it was like an early May.
So yeah, yeah, two months.
Yeah, two months before.
Because it opened last week, duh.
I'm going to the weekend totals to see where we're at.
Um, right now.
It's winning the weekend.
Wow.
I'm sorry.
Right now it's in second place, but it's only half a million behind grownups, too.
Because it's used me to forty four point.
So that means specific ram is getting crushed.
No, it's in third.
Well, it's still eight a million behind behind despicable.
It's still time, though.
Yeah.
So.
So Pacino decides he's going to have creative differences and leaves the film two months before
release.
My first question is, first of all, I love the name of the restaurant that he ran.
Salsa.
Salsa.
Sure.
Why not?
No restaurant called that.
But, uh, I don't.
I don't understand what his issue with the film would have been.
I, and really, I mean, we were like Benjamin Pratt, correct?
We didn't stand it for weeks.
The great villainy of Benjamin Pratt.
But he was good.
Well, it said he left the film over creative differences about how his character should come to life.
And whenever he left, uh, he'd already been fully voiced and animated.
So the, uh, Chris Renaud said that they didn't want an unhappy actor and they wanted something
to as well, realized on all sides.
And if you don't see eye to eye, sometimes it's easier just to part company and move on from there.
And Benjamin Pratt had actually already been considered before Pacino to see who else was considered.
At one point that had to drop out with who I think would have been probably better than both of them.
Uh huh.
Have your bar damn.
Oh.
Good lord.
That would have been awesome.
Yeah.
Kind of like the, the, uh, the antidote for his character in.
In the skyfall.
Want to go the complete other direction with your villain.
Wow.
I don't know.
I think the villain is better.
He's played a really good villain.
I thought I thought Brian did a good job.
I just.
Interesting.
Now, here's another interesting little fact for you.
The, there's a scene where Lucy gives grew her a phone number to reach her.
And it's an actual number.
And if you call it, it's a recording of Kristen Week as agent Lucy, while the with her out going voice film message.
Oh, you kid.
That's, that's, that's meta.
That's, that's awesome.
Big time meta.
Uh, so that he goes undercover.
He, they think there's a couple of different little twists and turns that it takes.
There's, you know, you have Benjamin Bratt's kid who's starting to woo one of the girls.
I loved this film.
Oh, it was adorable.
Absolutely loved it.
I just loved how a group became so protective as well.
Well, you because, you know, when you kind of saw that at the end of the first one, where.
He become like he became a father figure to them.
And that's kind of addressed as, as well as the lack of a mother figure as a dress in this film.
In a very, very tasteful way without getting real preaching.
I felt.
Uh.
There's a reason that we went to the theater and there was a full house again.
And it's second weekend.
We sat there like we get there early as we always do.
We always did as we prefer to do.
Yeah.
I was, and we're like, as I sit my tasty beverage from the theater.
I'm still still working on it.
Uh.
And we're like, wow, this place is kind of, you know, the well is kind of dry.
Oh, that changed by the time the lights went down, the place was full.
Ah, Lee.
Um.
What I love about films, this and this film and films of its ilk.
Is they know that parents are going to have to bring their kids to this.
So they put a little something in there for the adults too.
It's not a don't humor per se.
But there is humor that adults will get that maybe kids won't laugh about.
There's a couple of musical numbers towards the end of the film that almost put you in.
That will ruin two songs for you for the rest of your natural life.
One probably deservedly so.
Um, and one ruined itself long.
Yes.
Yes.
And that could go either way.
Yeah.
Again, the minions really do.
They, they share equal billing as well.
They should.
Because really take them out of it.
I almost don't care.
Yeah.
And take them out of it.
Thank you.
This is is.
If you don't remember who she is, she's the front in the first one.
I'm sorry, hey, it's sort ofpowdered.
Or if you're looking for everything like this, then I'm the one that's that of it quickly.
And this is all opposed with all of it.
When they stop, they feel that they remember to have all of the scenes that were taken
twice in the last few days.
between these two or this one falls between what the
smurfs in the smurfs to yikes but he's also done he did the spike the
first at least the first spikids he did the dirty dancing sequel
ah curious George Beverly Hills Chihuahua curious George too I
realized there was a sequel follow that monkey from products and
not I'm not sure I'd have put that on my resume there's been three
Beverly Hills Chihuahua films yeah what but a great the sound
tracks great for out Williams brings back to the spikling me song from the
first one uh c-low green doesn't sound over the end credits which I
very much enjoy and the the score I thought was very very good the story
moves very very quickly and you have to know that going in we're not going
to explain what happened before we mentioned it a couple times but it's
kind of like to be like blade two you know the story here we go and it was
what like a 98 minute runtime uh right it was I think it was I said if I just
said an hour 30 hour 38 is what the original listing I saw and that was
from yeah 98 minutes because the original I saw was from fan dango.com
I think the reason why the producer fast is you know it's to grab their attention
the kids as well yeah they can kids have a short attention span and we saw
the end of the theater there were kids that were getting restless by it but
it's a very fast 98 minutes yes not you know I looked at my watch I was like well
we're 45 minutes into this thing loved this movie can't say enough good things about it
there's something for everybody you know it's like a family sure
correll hits it out of the park again I don't know that this guy can do wrong
and be warned there is brief minion rear nudity yes there is there is a minion
button for about five seconds but you see his small correct but there's another
reference in that scene when when the minion first gets there oh dear god you see
in the trailer oh you see that you see that you see the Tiki bar in the trailer oh yeah
you see the bartender oh as soon as when I did I have not seen that before
that shocks me that shocks me yeah I don't watch commercials my DVR knows we're skipping
commercials but normally if you see anything minion involved you were like irked back up
just watching him flesh that grin and the two snaps to you you're like oh dear god
it's been in the commercial we can say that you don't know what we're talking about
one of the one of the minions is dressed like Isaac your bartender from the love boat
you know what I think that might have been what you got in your happy meal to teach
oh I think that's the minion she got I think it is
because I thought I saw a fro although it might have been one of the one of the mutant
or it could have been the one that's in disguise with the beard too possibly when they
go to the cup kick store but if I've got my brothers I'm hoping it's the end of the
end we also I mean and the soundtrack I mean songs that aren't listed on the soundtrack
if you buy it that we're in the film very white in the love orchestra always that that song loves
theme always great what was the name of that song that he was playing when he was in his happy place
because that one was really that was was was like really infectious maybe it was making a
heart-shaped pancakes and going through the park and doing the yoga dance with the with the
ladies in the park and you know what just a cloud away maybe I don't know I thought they were
mentioning like happy or smile or something like that oh happy for our Williams is it okay
yes that was a good song we have to play this now I just get served this song makes anything better
this is what you should have opened the show with you because those that get it get it
because this is a great scene just it's so wrong that it's not uh talk into the mic
I apologize sorry it's a movie that did some like that was like the boy in the girl and they're like
oh probably it does that that's happened a billion times in film very white used like that all
yeah I think it was like a racing move I can't remember it was like a comedy one I think it was with
them what kind of thing reason they're weird but what else is he done
the only racing comedy movie I know of is Talladegan Knights and they'll never watch it
emergency break
isn't that what this show was built on yeah I mean all like it you may be thinking about
it was like it was right at the end of the movie was that it was it was a hippie end
becoming a hippie and it was like I'm thinking she's probably thinking of
Bruce Almighty I think she's on drugs I think you're right but I'm not her supplier so she
knows a butcher from somewhere so where do we go from here my first question to you sir is
and we don't want to give away the way the film and no can we let this lie here no you want to
despicable me three oh absolutely I do I don't know if I do I kind of like it where it is no no no no no no
there's too much room for growth way too much room for growth so what you're going to bring like the
the Mrs. Groen on what I just saw another track on the soundtrack that I realized is there do you
have it no but it's uh doobly uh doobly yeah 13 seconds long I will own the soundtrack I will you
could probably own it with a couple of clicks and a couple of minutes here we're probably should have
done that before we did that I would have taken away too long everything because I would have had
to load it into what happened I don't know if I want a third just pickable me but I can tell you this
well apparently it's already been approved and Greenland not just what you're about to say but
apparently a sequel's already been Greenland Mark December 19th 2014 on your calendar
because we are going to get a minion's film a minion's prequel it's gonna be called minions
are they enough featuring the minions is the main character out of the enough directed by
reason by Brian Lynch directed by Pierre Coffin and Kai a Kyle Baldeck and produced by Chris
metal andry who produced this one in jane healing this jane healing I apologize this film which will
be said in the 1960s is going to focus on the minions before they've met Groen where they compete for
the fight to compete for the right to become henchman's of an ambitious villain Scarlet overkill
voiced by Sandra Bollock and did I mention in what have been kind of cool to have her involved
but it would have been takes place in the past though I just think it would have been cool
of somehow you could have gotten Bollock and Brad working together again after viscadini out
mechanic cool being cool if you could work shatner in there too oh definitely this is
I could not say more good things about this film I enjoyed it I the only reason I wouldn't see it
again first run as I don't want to deal with the audience that comes with it well then we wait
for another theater do we want to talk about that now I mean we've only gone 25 minutes
well I wish that this is something that we probably ought to look into although it may have
already landed and finished its run but apparently for the past six months something has been
circling over the country to the blimp the despicable imp yeah I've seen it here not here but I've
seen it on TV you can track it apparently and find out where it is like a Santa track yes
there is a website that will track the despicable imp and jules it's just a one-eyed minion flying
on a side yeah it's a picture right here and there's they had a hot air balloon so you're
so you're on the Wikipedia page too I guess yes it's during the international enemy to film festival
and I mean you really didn't even have to do that this movie will promote itself
I mean I can I've one thing to say bye bye bye bye no that's all you need how long ago did
did that teaser drop at least six months ago oh it's been longer than that much longer than
that because we got the the first trailer with the uh with them going outside and dealing with
the trash can and the cat six months ago the bond and all thing I want to say was like
probably a over a year ago I didn't say here when that first I want to say that that thing
dropped like last spring I mean you could probably go to YouTube and look up original upload
just find the episode where charla loses her cool as we play it for her live on air
may not be easy unless it's in the title and that may be on the old server too and have you
seen the uh the minion rush game I tried to play it on a charla and I were at an AT&T store recently
and I tried to play it it's kind of lunky on the tablet I was playing it on the tablet it's like
temple run it's almost identical to temple run current ranking on rotten tomato 75%
which is almost triple that at the loan ranger good lord oh by the way quarter two up to seven
percent oh my yeah so that's happening oh boy tomorrow night season four officially kicks off
actually it's kind of that proposal that we're doing this episode tonight as an iTunes exclusive
do you would you like to know why why is that it was three years ago on this day in this studio
that the very first episode of the clubhouse was recorded interesting that is very interesting
I actually have the the date marked in my phone and it reminded me today so it is the is officially
now the third anniversary of the clubhouse so I'm glad we had a reason to come in here tonight
so how about it clubhouse I know it's it's finished it's terrible too who's thank god for that
and now it's just got to be potty train it's the problem now we got a house break it so tomorrow night
season four officially kicks off and we're gonna be on the road yes indeed boxing hand Richardson
Texas join us six o'clock five bucks get you in the door we will be live on the air six o'clock
central time getting you ready for WWE money in the bank I'm looking forward to this paper me
oh yeah I'm ready for this paper me I'm excited I genuinely excited for this paper because it has delivered
big time and let me tell you something major announcement could be coming tomorrow
a second major announcement will be coming within the next two weeks you know what I'm talking about
I guess you're gonna clarify this we talked about this last night
winds of change my friend okay
good winds of change yes especially with the show yes couple of major announcements coming
altis altis the second one we've got some upgrades coming yes okay some very very good upgrades
that I'm very excited about we made some contacts today that I am extremely excited about
that really I definitely don't want to put the card before the horse on that one right but
we made some contacts today that really could be mutually beneficial number one exactly number two
we're gonna have a lot of fun with oh yeah we're I'm very very excited hopefully we can get some
things planned down the road that are going to expand the empire even more very very excited
I was I was like a kid at a candy store earlier today it's been a great day yeah it's been
a long day yeah and I'm about ready to collapse so until about another 18 hours
where we will see you live at Fox and Howard Richardson Texas for Chad for jewels
I'm Rob go see despicable me too yes the clubhouse is closed no Brittany Palmer tonight you
have seen the last week it's minions yeah minions minions talk yeah I can't get over the
musical numbers I get sooner or greater production why because I have to
