I dressed out landishly, so we have a couple of guests in the studio.
And this is outrageous by 1984 through 88 standards.
Yeah, I'm just like, that was just weird.
I got a couple of guests maybe a third, we're not sure yet, but joining this right across
from me on the other side of my main monitors is a man who has not been here in so long,
he's grown up beard since the last time he was here.

with a friend of the show Dave Scott and his family, want to thank them for having

When ESPN2 is showing collegiate lacrosse, you know it's a slow sports day, but you
know what, I love lacrosse, so I was cool with it.

All right, above I mean, I love that nobody wears pads from the waist down, so you know,
it's just brutally violent on them.

to be on a lot of racing to go, but a competitive year in NASCAR. Next up, next weekend
is all star weekend for NASCAR, they're going to be in Charlotte for two weeks, Friday
night will be the spring showdown at 7 o'clock, Saturday night the NASCAR sprint all star
race, also it's Charlotte and then they're there for a whole week because the Coca-Cola
600 is May 25th, at Charlotte Motor Speedway that will be at 6 o'clock Eastern, so that
will be a night race on your local Fox affiliate. So next Sunday, NASCAR off as well, you

and do a little television talk right now, shall we? So Fox makes an announcement last weekend
and I'm a little, I don't know what to do with this. They've announced that they're
putting in development a series about the teen years of the Jesus.
I think they're wrong to have a drink water.
Biblically, they don't, there's no talk of his life from like 12 to 30 pretty much. So Fox
wants to develop a series smallville. Yes, basically. And I talked, I've talked about this
with some friends of mine and there are some apocryphal, the apocryphal are the left
outbooks of the Bible. And there are some apocryphal stories about those years. And apparently,
this has already been done as a film in India. Don't ask me how, don't ask me why.
That's even funnier. Because I was talking about this with friend of the show Jim
Braggle the other day and he actually found a link and I never clicked on it, but Fox has
put this thing into development. And let me just say to my friends in the Christian community,
let's wait to throw some support behind this thing until we see what it is. Can anyone say
Noah? Because I mean, the Christian community got really far behind that. I was like, guys,
there's rock people that have been built it. And I don't remember reading about that in the Bible.
I mean, maybe my version of the Bible got some pages missing. I don't know. I might have
gotten it at a Bible outlet. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I just think this is a very strange
thing that's, and plus you got to remember this is Fox. So what else does it have going on?
It's just not football season. But there's time about this thing coming in the falls.
Oh, that's kind of, yeah. That's where you put your big guns out in the fall. Just, I'm so, just
we report the news. That's all I'm saying. Let's talk about some announcements this week of
from the networks of what's leaving and what's staying. We're going to start with the CW. They have
given an official series order to the arrow spin off for the flash. And something called eyes zombies.
Now let me explain how this works. It's about a young lady who is a zombie. And she gets a job as a
coroner so that she can still feed on brains. Okay. And again, I'm not done yet. Oh, boy. By
feasting on the brains of the deceased, she now absorbs their memories and can help solve the
murder their murders with the police. CSI, the walking dead. I think it's what this is called.
I read this in options. And like, is this, this isn't really a thing. This is like zombie dexter.
Yeah, it is. I was just like, okay, but it does not pick up the supernatural spin-off bloodlines.
And they do cancel the tomorrow people, which starts cousin of arrow stars Steven Amel,
Robbie Amel and so that's not coming back. NBC has renewed Hannibal and gives a series ordered
a constant team, which is basically the horrible. Can't really believe. But they've canceled
community, so we're only going to get five seasons. We're not going to get six seasons in a movie.
And that series found it was pretty weak. Revolution, not coming back. I showed that Chad was interested
in growing up Fisher, not coming back. Turn it. Believe not coming back. Dracula, not coming back.
And smartest person in the room right now goes to dawn. He said he's not sure crisis would make
it past the season. Goldless and too are iTunes exclusive to hear him talk about that. And he was
right. It's not coming back. Friends at all, I give us that screening. Yeah.
Parenthood is going to get parenthood. We'll get a final season. So next season,
parenthood will be the last they'd already planned on. And so they were glad they got it.
And Parks and Rec will also end after next season. Season 7 will be end for Parks and Rec.
I love that show. So we knew it. By their choice, not the network. Yes.
Oh, really. This was their choice. I'm not the one that's not been that's that's that's
really been a secret. ABC, much to my wife's happiness has renewed Nashville. And that show was on
the bubble. They weren't sure what the fate of that show was going to be. Also the Tim, Tim Allen,
vehicle last man standing. I watched a couple of episodes of that with friends of the show,
the Mars. Not a bad little show. Not a bad, not a home improvement, but it's trying to be. It's
it's cute. And I'm a big fan of the Nancy Travis. So I don't like the fashionista daughter. She kind
of annoys me. Agents of shield, but they are picking up Agent Carter as a series, which I'm very
excited about. If you don't know who this Peggy Carter is the character in Captain America.
So you're going to see the basically the origins of shield. And if you're following agents with
shields, right? Oh, I'm finally caught up. Holy cow. And if anybody that tells you you don't need
to see Captain America to understand what's going on, they're liars. They're dirty, filthy liars.
Because you can kind of fish your way through it, but you won't get the full impact of what's going
on without seeing Captain America the winter soldier. But the goldberg is getting season
2 and I could not be happier. I told Chad the other day and I'm standing by this. I'm buying
season 1 when it comes out on Blue Right. This show is that good. Never seen it. Dude, it's what that
80 show should have been. Go to abc.com and binge this show. It's that good. Like they did an episode
this week that dealt with his brother joining the wrestling team, but the only wrestling he knew was
WWE wrestling. And his storyline was he was waiting in line for episode 6. So I put on Twitter.
I was like, I'm not going to say that this, that this particular episode doesn't affect me on multiple
levels. Yes, yes, I am. It's, it's so well done. And I've said it before I'll say it again. If
Wendy McClendon Covey does not get a, I mean, nomination under this, there's something wrong in the
world. She is brilliant. The kid that plays Adam Goldberg is brilliant. There's nothing about this
show that I don't like. And I don't like Jeff Garland personally because I think in real life he's
kind of a dead bag, but he's great on the show. So congratulations to the goldbergs getting renewed
for another season. CBS because we need another CSI spin off because we got rid of two of them. CSI
cyber is coming in the fall with with Patricia R. Good. Good. I'm behind you. My wife,
smartest person in the room now because she called that. She's like, they're doing another spin-off
aren't they? And I was like, I haven't heard anything because I haven't watched that episode yet.
So I don't know what happens. Fantastic. And she goes, well, this is what it looks like. And
man now says, I was like, honey, you called it. She's like, oh, really good. Yeah, we're characters.
We're at the most interesting thing. They're also getting NCIS New Orleans.
What? That Mark Harmon is going to? No. He's leaving. I saw that. I looked at the cast list on
IMDB and it had him listed. Maybe it's just for a couple of episodes. Oh, please don't. So
and they have renewed the mental list. That was kind of on the bubble. But they've canceled
bad teacher. So that lasted about six episodes. It was a terrible movie. Yeah. The crazy ones with
Robin Williams and Sarah Michelle give her the best of this long. Friends with better lives.
That was funny. That was fun. He knew me. I got to kick out of that show. I watched three episodes.
It was horrible. Hostages gets the acts as well as intelligence with Mark Helgenberger,
my wife. I kind of liked that show. But it's going away. So we're going to skip on and then come
back. Colbert's replacement show has been named by Comedy Central. He'll be leaving in January.
And Larry Willmore's minority report is going to get that slot. And I've said it before.
And I'll say it again. If you're not watching last week tonight with John Oliver,
there's something wrong with you. Because I've been watching last week's episodes on the DVR
but that first episode. And Chad can attest to this. I could barely breathe. I was laughing so hard.
This second one's just as good as the first one. Really? I'm going to watch it tonight.

really sad next year. I mean parks and wreck and some divanarchy are going to end. I'm going to be
morning. It's called free time sir. So apparently during 24, which I'm not saying who I'm waiting
on to watch this show, but his initials are Chad Warmic. I've been waiting on 24 for you. Really?
Yes. Because you were like, hey, I kind of want to see this. So I've been waiting on you.
During 24, they apparently showed the first trailer for Gotham. It posted online. We
watched it on YouTube. When was it? Was it Tuesday? Or was there was Monday night during
RAW? Because I mean, it must have gone right up after they aired it. I'm on board. Me too. I am on board.
There's a couple of things. I'm kind of like, but I'm on board. This looks really, really good.
So and that's coming in the fall as well. Box also renews American Idol for season 14. I'm sorry about
that. But they're going to have Gotham. And that's all that matters. But another American Idol.
Not they also are going to have teams. Maybe 12 and 13 year old Jesus. I just
maybe he's the American Idol. If he guest stars on that show, I'm completely out. That's all I'm
saying. He turns the Coca-Cola into wine. He's got a voice like an angel. Who are the judges on that
show? I think J. Lowe's back Keith Urban still there. Nicki Minaj is not there.
I don't know because I haven't watched it in three at least three years. After Scotty,
what's his name and I can't say what Charlotte calls him on it. His name will be the
Carpenter's part too. Hey now. Easy, killer. Easy. Anything anything I must
do in TV talk while we're here before we move on. I'm tired of picking shows and getting
getting set. It's like a liking shows because he keeps doing it. I'm like I would stop liking
shows that I like. I had just started watching like I caught like a couple of episodes of Dracula.
And I was like yeah, not going to make it because it's a subject matter that I like an actor that
I like because I like him in the tutors. And then think of the station. She's not a fool.
It's not good for character development. You say that.
All right, let's move on because it was draft weekend. And I could not be happier
that Johnny Manzell felt a what 27. I was a 20-year-old. He was a third rounder.
I'm just glad I didn't watch the draft Thursday night because I was so tired. I was in bed by nine
which has been the norm lately because I'm kind of the last month. I don't know if it's this.
I've turned 40 nine months ago. I was going to send months ago. And I'm now starting to get that
sense of my own mortality thing. I joined a gym a couple of weeks ago. Been faithful.
It's I take Sundays off. But last week I was there six days. And you know giving up the whole
sodas and caffeine thing. And I want to say about that. Not as bad as a lot of people have gone through.
Because I've talked to people that like, yeah, I quit caffeine and I have like horrible headaches
for like a week and a half. I've had little headaches here and there. But overall, feeling good.
See, my sister had horrific migraines. And then she stopped taking caffeine and she hasn't had a migraine sense.
Really? Yeah. So it was the answer. Not the problem. It's it's hard when I go out to eat because
I'm like, I like, what are please? That's what you, that's what you, that's what you've got in your pocket.
Well, they're speaking of which there is a new flavor that son kissed is doing.
There's now everybody's in on the meal. Yeah, that's the question. The question is right because
I did a thing. But son kissed has a peach orange that is. Oh, I got to try that. Amazing. It just
came out like last week. I just happened to be in the store. I'm a huge, I'm a huge fan of the
tropical punch and the great kule that I've been buying. The orange kule I'm on, I'm way on board with.
I like the Hawaiian punch. People are telling me that Coca Cola is now involved. Oh, okay.
Yeah, but that just tastes like flat Coke. Well, but think about the crush. You know, you've got
crush, but I got my style. I've got my orange crush. In, in, boom.
One, you want a minute so you can cue that up. But I mean, like, you know, the crush flavors are
non-carbonated. So they're probably just taking stuff from the Coca Cola product line,
maybe not Coca Cola. Exactly. No, somebody told me Coca Cola's out there.
Actual Coca Cola. Somebody just watered his rumours effort. I shall look that up.
I have an inside source at the Dallas plant and there's things that you don't want to know
that they're making. It's ridiculous. I love how Andrew has an inside source.
I have a Coca Cola source. You have a, well, I will tell you this though. We have a deep, deep,
deep source in formant. When I stopped drinking non-diet sodas in 08,
when I know now when I get a regular Coke and add a diet Coke, I'll not need more, but because I now know
what one of the secret ingredients in the formula is and it's cinnamon because that's all I can
taste and that's how I know what's not diet Coke. But I just don't know if that would be any good.
But the NFL draft, as we get back on track, finished last night,
the draft just doesn't do anything for me. It doesn't tell me. It's like, it's like national
signing day. It was almost four hours or nothing. It was almost four hours. We don't need that.
And does anybody really believe that the owner of the, of the, of the Browns is told to
draft Johnny Mandel by a homeless guy outside of our restaurant? That's the story that came out.
Salapet Salapet, Salapet, Antonio reported this during the draft. What was that noise that just came out of
you, John? It sounded like a goose. Man, what? Man's Hill is going to have one heck of a
awakening because when he walks in the high field, he takes on that stiller defense and that's
to go to Baltimore and take on that Baltimore defense. He's going to have a rude awakening. There's
a big difference between the stillers defense and East El Paso tech defense. And I think, well,
here's my thing. That's the bar. A little bit closer than West El Paso. I said going into the
draft that this Johnny Mandel thing was going to be another Brady Quinn situation and it was that
and so much more. They couldn't stop talking about him. Yeah. He's not a number one pick.
Well, and you know, and I said this this morning as I was talking to Dave, uh, you know,
Cleveland's going to get hard knocks this year. Oh, yeah. You know, they are for that alone. They're
going to get hard knocks. Yeah. That's a thing. Read to it. They may not know. The NFL said
everybody's going to, they're, we're going to spread the love around. And if they, if it's your turn,
you're going to do it. Really? Yep. They said it last year. We said it last year. Why not? They got that
DB too. Like Gilbert, right? And so I just, there was nobody that I looked at and said,
they had a great draft. There's nobody out there. I know that he has an ESP into their draft
grade to give the cow was a beam minus. Really? I was like, I mean, the same brand,
same front did pretty good. But same front's already good. There's nobody that I was like,
they're going to turn it around. They're, this team with this draft is going to turn it around.
St. Louis, I thought had some decent draft picks. I felt bad for, um, Derek Carr going to Oakland.
Oh God. I was very happy for AJ McCaring. I really thought he'd be a low first rounder
beginning. He went to Cincinnati. I'm pretty sure. And before the fifth round?
No, uh, third, I think. Well, I think it was, yeah, it was either late Friday or early Saturday.
Because I like that kid. I like Derek Carr a lot. I saw him on Levittard this week.
Kids got a lot of personality and I kind of hope that he has the talent that Oakland doesn't,
doesn't stifle it out of him. I don't think David Carr was that bad. He just wasn't that good.
You know, and they're, they have another brother that's that didn't go as far as they did. They said
they can throw better in both of them and he's a d-backs. Oh, wow. Yeah. But I, I just, there wasn't that,
there wasn't that, oh, off factor to the draft this year that I remember there being,
I'm, I'm happy with my Steelers picks. They, I accept to kick out a little bit more of the line. But,
you know, uh, we got rhymes that seizure. Oh, I'm happy to have him that kid. It's fast.
I don't remember what happened last time they dropped it in a line. Yeah. We'll see what the Castro was injured like.
And the question is with the, with the old Johnny footballer, they can start him this year.

I know, but he's not saying that Colt McCoy is a great quarterback because he's not, but it's so Cleveland,
you know? And when you have the Baltimore and Steeler defense, you know, that's what happened with McCoy.
He did nothing great against them. And that's four games a year. That's a quarter of the season,
small corn Pittsburgh. Oh, you're, he was pretty, he's pretty good. I mean, he was in the
billet check system under backing up Brady and mallet. So until we got injured, they were like
three and oh, and this draft is just such an odd. Like I said, there was no sizzle factor to this
two at this year and I just don't know if, and, and they're talking about, they're going to keep it
in May. Yeah, and they're talking about pushing back two more weeks. And the, and the ratings were
actually up against the NBA finals and the Stanley Cup, that will play offs. Brown one and they're talking.
And now they're also talking about every day being around. So you're going to have an
a week of the draft. What do it up? I care less. I don't either talk to me on. It's going to be
perfect. Talk to me instead. I'm going to be brutal for you because my immediate nothing is crap.
We don't do anything normal. They've met expectations as far as I'm concerned. Being a
doll fan is almost as bad as being a Brown's fan. It's, you just accept failure. It comes fan.
Well, at least you guys have won a championship in, you know, since I got out of high school.
Oh, that's something to brag about. My team is holding on to what we did.

And for the people that thought Dallas was going to draft man's, they'll get off the drugs.

I listened to other podcasts because the only way to get better at what you do is to
listen to the way, listen or watch the way other people do it.
And you can glean certain things from them and you can say, okay, I don't want to do that.
But there's something going on in the podcast and community.
And I hear it on two different podcasts.
And it's really annoying me.
On a on an inhuman level.
If you subscribe to the show on iTunes and if you do, first of all, thank you very much.
We appreciate it. It doesn't cost you anything.
iTunes law says you are not allowed to charge for a podcast.
We all know that.
So really.
Outside of that.
If you don't host it on a website or whatever, there's not a real cost involved.
But there's a couple of different podcasts that I listen to.
Where they say we have to plug our sponsors so that we can keep this on the air for free.
I'm going to explain some of you people.
I have been doing this podcast now for almost four or four years.
We hit four years in about what eight weeks, Chad.
Is that where we're at somewhere in there?
We have never charged.
I think we've only ever had one sponsor on the show.
And it was a ROI type deal where if you didn't did something there,
and we knew you mentioned us, then they cut us a nice old check.
It wasn't a lot, but it was something.
If you incur a cost to produce a podcast, that's your fault.
If you want to be on a big podcast network and you're a celebrity,
that's your problem.
That's your fault.
This is not something that's rocket science, which is why I can do it.
This is not that complicated.
If you are somebody of note, somebody who people know,
and somebody who people follow and have followed before you had a podcast in career,
there shouldn't be a problem with you producing a podcast.
The capital outweigh, if you really, if you wanted to strip it down to nuts and bolts,
here's your capital outweigh.
A microphone, a computer, and one software program.
That's the list.
There's some podcasts that I listen to, where they take a little hand recorder,
like I have over here on my printer that we use at the Dallas International Film Festival,
and they record their interviews that way, and they upload it to a site.
That's the ball game.
So stop insulting my intelligence by saying,
well, if we can't get our sponsors to help pay, we're going to have to charge for the podcast,
because one thing's going to happen, I ain't going to listen.
It's that simple.
I pay for enough things in this life.
My current cost into this podcast monthly is about 20 bucks.
That's actually, let me, okay, let me just, let me just give it to you per year.
I pay about, let's call it 500 bucks a year.
For this podcast, because I pay wicks.com,
thank you wicks.com, they host our website, and I do all of the design there.
And I pay go daddy for the service space.
That's it.
Now, any cost of me upgrading a microphone here, upgrading a cable there, upgrading the board there,
that's not something necessarily mission critical.
Because we have a home rig, and we have, we're two or three microphones away from having
a home rig in an away rig.
That's all we need.
And then everything, when we go and do a road show,
we don't take anything out of the studio.
But that's cost that I incur.
I'm not going to pass that on.
Our audience doesn't care, hey, does Rob have a sure 55 this week.
They don't care.
But I do it because it enhances the production value of the show.
Because I've been doing this kind of thing for the better part of three decades.
And you're doing yourself a favor as much as you're doing the audience a favor by upgrading your equipment.
And that number one and number two, you know how I did to nitpick things.
Yes.
So it's my own OCD, which is my problem.
So don't insult my intelligence and say,
well, they're helping us keep this on the air for free.
If I get it from iTunes, it's already free.
You are a multi-millionaire.
If you do your show every week at a location and you're charging people cover to get into that location,
you're making money.
If you are somebody who was of note before you had a podcasting career,
you have a money.
This doesn't take that much money.
Come out and say, you know what, this isn't to pay the bills.
I just need some cash.
I want more cash.
Be honest with me.
I mean, they're our costs incurred of, you know, for me, it's gas.
It's time.
And that's for about everybody.
They just want to have a salary as what they want.
But when it comes down to it, they want to put the money in their pocket for the salary.
And if this show paid me, that'd be great.
I would love to not have a day job and do this all the time.
But what was it, Dennis Larry said?
Life sucks, grab a helmet.
Yeah, exactly.
You know, I wanted to be the starting center fielder for the Boston Red Sox.
That didn't work out for me.
Just don't insult my intelligence is my thing.
At least as a DC to say, we want to keep improving the quality of the show
and your support helps us improve the quality of the show.
Or that simple as that, say no more.
Even better yet, I don't want to have to get a day job.
I want this to be my job.
I would respect that honesty more.
Or you know what?
Because you can never have too much cash.
Like, like, they got the standard.
They're probably going, well, we have a studio and we have to pay rent for the studio.
That's a personal problem, because there's one podcast I was doing.
I'm really trying hard not to name names he all come on.
But one of them, this person, when they're, sometimes they'll do interviews in their own house.
Sometimes via Skype, which sounds horrible.
Yeah, but they get guests was one of these former WWE person.
I'm going to neither confirm nor deny that.
But I'm just, we all know who they are.
We need to tell me it's 316 PM.
I will not.
I will neither confirm nor deny that.
I guess he's smoke coming out of his skull, right?
Just be honest with me is all I'm saying.
Because as a podcaster, I know.
And I'm not afraid to tell you, we don't get paid for this show.
If somebody wants the sponsor this show, fabulous.
But I'm not going to sit there and tell my audience,
you know, if you don't do this, we can't keep this thing on the air for free.
That's just stupid.
Just do it for the love.
If you want to go to a website and make a purchase and put our name in there,
and by doing so, it kicks us up a couple of bucks.
Fabulous.
We do it because we love what we do here.
I mean, this doing radio is what I wanted to do since I was 17 years old.
And doing all the iTunes exclusives.
Yeah, we do it because one, it's kind of fun.
Let's see this stuff and we love the connections we have and possibly more we will get.
But, you know, it's still, it's time out of our lives and stuff.
And let's be honest there too.
People like our friends at Allied in the radio marketing, they don't pay us.
No, they do not.
They give us the opportunity to help them promote the films that they're behind.
Or they review.
Correct you.
Yeah.
But by doing so generating support for the film.
What amount?
They don't pay us.
This is not a pay for play kind of a thing.
They do that out of the kindness of their hearts for us, which we greatly appreciate.
And we have no problem saying how much we love what they do for us.
And that's just something extra that comes with the territory of what we do.
And because this show has the integrity that it does, we get those opportunities.
But we're not going to lie to our audience.
You know, the studio is my house.
I have an office at the house.
I've had come people coming here and go, my god, man, do you have more stuff?
No, I could, but I don't.
You know, but it is what it is.
And just be upfront.
Your audience is not stupid.
And your audience being your audience, if you say, hey, these people help support me.
And this is just another revenue stream for me.
They're going to support it regardless because they're your fans.
And it just it wears me out.
Just be honest.
All I'm asking.
We try to be a zonson can.
