It is Saturday nights. It is eight o'clock on the east coast. It is five o'clock on the west coast.

It is the 14th of July in the year of our Lord 2012. That just means the clubhouse is on the air as we begin season number three. We have completed two full revolutions around the sun since this show started.

Good evening to each and every one of you whether you are listening live or are you are listening on the archive or you are listening on your portable device. We don't care how you listen. We just appreciate you listening.

The roster is thin as well. Also joining us this week in the rotating third chair. It doesn't literally rotate when you sit in it.

There is just a different person in it every week. A long time friend of the show but a first time guest on the show and an active participant last week in Ragnarok joining us. He is great here, sir.

We start with a little bit of NASCAR. I could never hear this song too many times. Even though we use it on the show almost every week, I just love this song.

I can't think of a week that you haven't used it, even in the auxies. In the beginning, we didn't. In the beginning, we used kickstart my heart.

But for some reason, when I ripped kickstart my heart to my hard drive, there's like a 20-second pause with about a minute and a half left to go in this song. I don't know what happened there. Don said it was good.

Oh. See, Clay is a multitasking thief. Not only is he on the show, he's in the chat room at the same time.

If I could do that, I would. Oh, that's right. But Don said that he thought that savages was good.

I think anybody that drives in this town to get some kind of an award or something. If you don't live in this in this area. Good God.

We got some of the lousy drivers. Especially this last couple of weeks have been brutal. It's like the inmates broke out of Arkham or something and just got driver's licenses.

We move on to TV talk. I really don't know why I picked this song. I just did.

We are going to start with the the death of a legend this past week. This see in you and I had completely different reactions. Because when I heard about this this like this like kind of hit me where I live.

Because I'm a huge fan of the great like now the late great Ernest Morganine. Oh as I'm here but your reaction was completely different because your reaction was I thought he was already. Yeah I really did.

Just like that. As sad as that is. I really did.

I thought he was already gone. Really he was he was at Texas Freymar Weekend recently. Was he?

Yeah. Was he when I think Ernest Borgnot I don't really think when he put this in TV. I'm like I think of him as a movie guy more than a TV guy.

Oh my god. I'm going to keep putting this anyway. See I always think of see you say Ernest Borgnot to me first thing the pups in my head is the black hole.

Oh well yeah and escape from New York. Yes. Well he was born January 24th 1917 he passed away this past Sunday.

The age of 95. He was his career span more than six decades. That's incredible.

I was actually looking for the McCale's Navy theme. That's why I chose C-Hunt because that was the closest thing. Oh I could come to it.

He was born Ermi's Efrain Borgino in Hamden, Connecticut. The son of immigrants from his mother and father were both from Italy. Well the name like Borgino I would think.

Get the heck yeah. It doesn't end in a vowel. His parents separated when he was two years old and he went with his mother to Italy and lived.

But by 1923 they reconciled and they changed the name from Borgino to Borgnot. They settled in New Haven, Connecticut. He graduated from public schools.

Join the Navy in 1935 after graduation from James Hillhouse High School in New Haven, Connecticut. Discharged in 1941 but then re-enlisted after Pearl Harbor. That's cool.

And served until 1945. He was reached the rank of Gunners Mate First Class. Served aboard the USS Lumberton.

And this is going to sad because the thing, I'm going to get everybody remembers from the McCale's Navy, especially if you're of our generation. But one of my favorite roles of his is kind of a lesser known role. And Clay you might have to go here with me on this.

Does anybody remember the Jonathan Silverman vehicle called the single guy? Yes. He was the door man on the single guy.

Oh, really? Which was a yeah, he was so sad. And that's to me whenever I think Ernest Borgnot, that's the first thing that pops in my mind.

And I don't know why, but it does. Because I, and a person, I love that show. Yeah, it was the story of that show.

But I mean, because he's done it so much. What do you put a big player in the whole Erwin Allen disaster flicks? Yeah, yeah.

I know he was a besides an adventure. But was he also an inferno? Was he also an towering inferno?

Uh, the percent. Let's see. I emperor the north of Vikings fight in the Phoenix.

The dirty dozen ice station. The dirty dozen. How can we forget that?

He was a fan. I think he was in convoy. Oh, yes.

You share a wild dirty, wild Wallace. The Poseidon adventure. The black hole escape from New York.

God. The wild bunch is essential viewing for everyone. Great movie.

His TV debut was in 1951 in a show called Captain Video and his video Rangers. Oh, my God. I didn't know he was a part of that.

Uh, let's see. What else do you do? Fire site theater.

Frontier Justice Laramie Bob Hope presents the Chrysler theater. Run for your life. He did a two-part little house on the prairie episode.

But you can put the love boat. But if you were an actor in the 60s or 70s, you were on the love boat. You're on the love boat.

And what I determined because we're going to talk about Comic Con a lot. If you were on Charo's friends list, you were on the love boat. But my thing is, you know what that, but you know what that show is now?

What the love boat is now? Because at a certain point, we were all like, everybody at some point is done law and order. But you know what else is turning into that as I was doing a lot of my research during Comic Con coverage today?

That judges for American Idol. True Blood. Uh, oh.

Like how many people did I look up? I'm like, who is that person? Oh, they did five episodes of True Blood.

I saw that like six times today. And now Maloney's on it. Not just makes me mad because he's gone from SVU.

But he came back to, he came back to where he started pretty much. Yeah. Because together, remember they, and because you saw a lot of people that were on us originally show up on law and order.

That's true. Because they used a lot of the same casting agents. And then SVU became everybody from homicide life on the street.

Yeah. But he will be missed. Great absolute.

The absolute joy of a man. If you ever see him in interviews. And you know, one of the simplest and most touching things that I ever saw him do was, I can't remember exactly what this was called.

Don, if you remember this, maybe you can help enlighten this. It was something that they did right after 9-11. They did a series of short films done by different directors.

It was kind of like an anthology piece. And his was, he was a widow. We're living by himself.

Never got remarried. And there was no dialogue in this thing. It was just him and his little dingy New York City apartment.

Morning, the loss of his, I think he does talk to her, like in his head or something. And he's got, he's potted a plant. And he's been trying to get the sun to shine on it.

This rings a bell to me. Yeah. And he could never find a window still to put it on.

And then you see this big shadow blocking his window. And then you see that shadow just crumble away. And the sunlight, it's, it was called September 11th.

It was in 2002. Segment was called USA. It was, oh man.

It was, it's just one of those things. It just, it makes the hair on the back of your neck stand up. If you can find this thing and track it down, it's worth a watch.

There's some, there's some segments on there that really go out there, like there's one that is made by a Japanese director. That's really, they're out there. Each segment is named after a country by the looks of the films.

But his segment, his segment, he was in, which is really, really touching. Okay. We've been looping the cool version of Fireflies in the background.

So we might as well get to this. We talked about this last week on the show that there's going to be a Firefly 10th anniversary panel. All three people that are currently have microphones in front of their faces, all fans of this show.

The lovely, the lovely and talented Mrs. Irvin is a huge fan of this show. They are going to air the panel in November.

The eleventh on the science channel. Well, they were day spots are the thing. So that if I could, if I could set the DVR now, it would be done.

No kidding. We cannot forget about it. But here is my thing.

I saw pictures of this thing on Entertainment Weekly's website. And Summer Glau was the only female there. Yeah, whenever you and I were, I was like, okay, so background wasn't there.

Joe State wasn't there. He was there. Neither was Torres really.

None of them. God. And what's she, the Torres doing right now, but she could make the thing.

She's, I want to say she's on some show in USA. Yeah, she is. A new one this season.

Suites? It's something, it was something along those lines. Yeah, it's one of their newer shirts.

My suits are white, I know it's not white collar, but it's something along those lines. Heck, we could probably pull it up on it. I'm doing so right now.

I'm flat. I have a technology. But, you know, you can still catch Alan Tudic on, oh, he's on the ABC show.

Suites is what she's on. Oh, she's on suits. Yeah, I thought that's what it was.

She was, she was a voice on Transformers Prime as suburgatory. He's great on that. You know, Castle.

He's a pretty name. She is the voice of Wonder Woman in DC Universe Online. Yes, yes.

Did not know that. Yes. Have you played that?

I downloaded on my PS3. Don't, don't get me started. I hate.

Hate. I got that. I just found out this is a family show.

I got that for my PC and that was the most ill-conceived setup for a game and returned it immediately. Canceled my subscription. I mean, I bought it like the day it came out.

Uh-huh. Immediately canceled my subscription. I am anti-DC and since the launch of 52, I could care less what they do.

Yeah. And see what, what killed me was that a, like I had it on the PS3. Yeah, which is it that that's it charges anything for it.

Yeah, the best thing about console gaming, throw it in. It should work. But it didn't.

Oh, really? Exactly my point. It's like every time I would go back to play it, there would be some 45 to 65 minute update download, several gig large download.

And I'm just sitting there watching the blue bar slowly fill up and you can't back out of it. You won't load in the background. So you're stuck watching this loading bar, update DC universe online.

Finally, I said, I can't take this anymore. I don't care how decent it might be as far as once you get the gameplay started. Yeah, it was enjoyable enough, but just getting there wasn't worth it.

So I said heck with it. Now the new one they're going to be doing. Oh, my.

We're going to talk about that in the talk. By the way, your lovely wife who's a British descent just checked in. Lovely.

So, love that woman. Congratulations to the NOAA widely vehicle falling skies. Oh, this thing just took off like mad.

I ever watched an episode. You know, I watched the first season and I wasn't that impressed. It was a lot of cliches, but it had like good production quality and a decent cast.

It just looked like District 9 meets V to me. Yeah, and you're spotting with that. Yeah, spot on with that.

I mean, but it was just kind of like, oh, we're going to go through the same stuff we've seen done in other movies. Every stinking time we've done this. You know, and then they got to the end and they in the season with a great cliff hanger to go into season two, but it wasn't enough for me to tune in for a second season.

I just had how this show keeps breathing life. And like, did you enjoy V and it's brief run that it was on? No, I didn't even I didn't even tune in and I couldn't bring myself to it.

I liked it. I liked it. I really want to stress liked it.

I wanted to see Anara again because I miss her, but you know, I'm like her with a short hair, though. Don't like her with a short hair at all, but lover on homeland. So I've never heard such good.

We talked, didn't we talk about that last week? And one of the many topics we come. I love her on homeland.

One because she will nude up on you. Hey now. And, um, well, who is this?

The Bakery. Yeah. Because remember whenever she walked past us at the, at the Plano sci-fi exercise, she's smell of strawberries.

I came her what she smelled of, but I remember Jules had to point her out to me. She goes, oh, isn't that her? I was like, oh, my God.

That was her. And she didn't really walk by. She more like floated by.

She's very, very graceful, that's very ethereal. She just has a regality about her. So then we get, we're going to kind of sprinkle Comic Con a little bit as we go through tonight.

Show kind of have to. We're going to be real intensive. And so we're going to try to get through so much of this as we can before we get there.

Arrow screens its pilot. Was it last night? Uh, no, I want to say it's the night before.

No, it wouldn't been, it wouldn't been Thursday night. Because isn't it? Arrow already?

Already? Yeah, see that I missed it. They screened the pilot at Comic Con.

Oh, wait. We can talk about this in your office last night. We talked about the night before.

Okay. And apparently we are going to have China White on the show. And she will be played by the Kelly Hube.

Apparently that crowd that view this pilot went nuts. Well, loved it. If you watch the trailer, one of the teaser trailers they do and you have to do a screen capture, uh, they show the big bad.

And I think the big bad for Green Arrow is going to be Deathstroke the Terminator because they show his mask and I got super excited. Well, apparently there's seven easter eggs in the pilot alone. Really?

Of Arrow. Why did they have to replace the guy that played him? From the guy that played him in Smallville.

Lord only knows. I don't know because I dug him. I mean, he was great.

He was one of the highlights of that show. I agree. I think they want to go...

But I love this stuff. So the music I put just... I wait for his reactions because I don't...

He doesn't know what's on the playlist. I have control over the playlist. He wait for it to clear.

I wait for it to clear. But he has that moment of clarity. I think you should set up video just for those moments.

And then just air those moments. I don't want to be the face of this show. What are you crazy?

It'll pay me enough for that. But I'm excited because I think DC is doing TV, right? They're the only...

That's the... So you and I talked about last week. Yeah.

Marvel has the corner on the movie market where has DC kind of has the corner on the TV market. And it's surprising because you've got these well-known characters. You've got Superman Batman.

I mean, they're doing Batman really well, but Superman, and... Remains to be seen until next year. And I don't know, but I heard that they may be screening footage of Man of Steel and Comic-Con.

Can you be supposed to be there today? Yeah. He's supposed to have his big splash today.

So hopefully, you know, that will turn out well, but because those... Because God knows they can't do their comics with a crud anymore. Oh.

Don't get... Don't... Don't bury the lead.

I don't want to... I don't want to give too much Comic-Con stuff away before we get there. But Arrow is where DC needs to work because they need to...

Where Marvel has done really well in going into space and where they're going because, you know, and I'm already going to touch on another topic of Guardians of the Galaxy being the next... Big... The next film from Marvel.

But they're not doing street-level stuff. They're not doing, you know, stuff that DC's doing with Arrow. And hopefully, they'll get into other areas.

I'd love to see a Starman series. I'd love to see... You know, some of the street-level stuff, because obviously, if you try to do a Dark Side story, everyone's going to go, that's just like Thanos.

Even though Dark Side came before Thanos in the books. Would you like to see them take another crack at Birds of Prey? In the day and age?

Yes. Just to see what they could do with this. I need to go back and rewatch that.

So I watched it sporadically. I didn't watch it with... Because it was the WB, and I just kind of...

Giggled at anything at the WB's name on it. I know, and now I'm thinking of Arrow. I'm like, what's the highest rating you're going to get on a CW show?

And apparently the girl that's playing Dina? Yeah. Is the friend of the Daughter in Taken?

The girl she went with? Yeah. That's who that is.

Oh. Because I spent a lot of time today as I was watching comic book. Who is that?

But so no, no. Like I watch MTV is to music as what Comic Con is to comics. But what was that show that they had?

Was it Death Valley, whatever? Where it was like, oh, it was like cops meets. Walking dead type thing it came on right after ridiculous.

I love that I only had like eight episodes. It was great. We actually skipped a sort of go back and just real quick If you have direct TV, you're not getting any Viacom channels right now, and you can't even watch it online Really that?

Yeah, but they've even gone so far as to take their content from online so even if you're not They're trying to strike at a direct TV every way they can even if people that have nothing to do with it They're like oh, oh, you're a direct TV subscriber and you want to watch our stuff online? Nope taking it down So nobody can get to see it And that includes some of the Disney networks. I read early today.

Yeah Joe MacKale because apparently he's doesn't have enough free time Geez announces on Comic Con coverage today that he's gonna be doing a multi-episode arc on Suns of Anarchy this year That's just a long. Yeah, that's good. It's going strong.

I never watched I've never watched episode I watched the first season, but it's going strong apparently he's gonna be playing a good looking con man Who will be working closely with Jett Gemma Gemma or Gemma whoever that's Katie Segal's character always get that one on and my wife That's correct me, but I mean, I just don't know Putting Joe MacKale and Suns of Anarchy in the same question in the same sentence because it's kind of odd to me I enjoy him on community The format was was an interesting job for him, but I think he's just trying to do stuff that's different and you know Really playing a good-looking guy is really a reach for him got got quick feet It's all I'm saying, but can't fault him for trying if we touch on community for a second. Yes, are you guys fans? He's not a huge huge huge Okay, then what do you think this season's gonna be without Dan Harmon?

Now, but see did he go before they finished filming the season? Yes, okay, no, no, no, no, no I'm sorry. He did not they finished the season and then because I thought this season was strong.

Yes I really really did loved the finale thought the law in order episode was absolutely especially when they brought and if you haven't watched a spoiler Or deal with it. Yes when they brought in the Emmy from from law in order or don't she was on criminal intent wasn't she? Yes, I was like okay in I thought the pillow fighting episode the two part with the pillow fighting.

I thought was awesome With the new episode The the very beautiful Allison Brie has said that they're going to go a lot deeper into the Annie and the whole Dream dream skate dream Torium the dream of Torium. They're gonna go deeper into that this year Well, yeah, because they're supposed to it from what I've heard they're gonna do an inspector space time episode Yeah, they're gonna go to a they're gonna go to a convention. I just I cannot wait at this show.

I don't know if you saw this it was called Corso the Force No They it's something that Chris Hardwick put together and they started in Goodness don't get me lying. It was way up the coast.

It was like almost northern California And they started like two or three weeks ago And they had a like a force effects lightsaber and they ran it each person had a quarter of a mile And they would pass it off like passing the torch And they ran it all the way down to San Diego for Michael. It was a benefit to make a wish Wow, that is cool. And they got it to San Diego as Comic Con was starting At one of the local theaters and they ran it in And then they placed it in a little R2-D2 And I think they're gonna do this every year And they did a whole thing on Facebook where you could follow the journey of the lightsaber as it went through And I thought that was pretty neat.

That's brilliant My one comment about how much you have to wait in line And I'm not gonna bash on any of the fans for any particular thing But I've because I really feel bad for the woman who lost her life this week waiting in line for Twilight But the line for that she was in line on Sunday And the cons started on Thursday So that's what people are waiting for and that's what people are lining up for And it's like do you want to dedicate a day to see one panel? I mean Watching the coverage today they said that Nathan Philly and Nathan Philly and stated he goes they oversold the panel 20,000 people are you kidding me oversold it by What did the whole what did the whole whole I think the hall I You know, I I don't want to speak out. I'm not sure the hallowed hall eight terms Hall H hall hall H's epic and no stabbing so far this year.

I know no Wolverines getting stuff So so you're telling me that She lined up for on Sunday on Sunday for a Twilight panel that was on Thursday Yes, so you're not just committing a day for an hour alone panel. She was ready to commit a week now Grand now granted, you know, that is that's something specific. I doubt she would go see a firefly panel I doubt she'd go see some of the other panels for comic books or a community I mean she was there for a specific reason So you know people would line up just to see that because they were gonna see footage new footage And then we're gonna see the stars I mean, I know that they were doing about eight minutes of hobbit footage.
