The following is a sooner or gator production.
No one's, no one's, no one's.
Good morning!
Boop!
Joe, stop. Are you ready for the jam?
I said are you ready for the jam?
Yo, gee.
Kicking drums, please!
Kicking drums, please.
Keep it going, huh?
Terrible!
Wait.
Yeah
Hey y'all, I'm bringing heat
Beasts and all hot topics every week
Wakein' news and I don't even try
You know it
How'd you get so popular?
I'm cool, that's why
Come on time it is
It is Saturday night
It is 8.09 on the east coast
It is 5.09 on the west coast
It is the 21st of April in the year of our Lord
2012
I did say we were going to be a little bit behind tonight
And we are a little bit behind tonight
For season 2, episode 40 of the clubhouse is on the air
We welcome each and every one of you individually
Whether you are listening live on the archive
Or on your portable device
We welcome you each individually
We don't care how you listen just as long as you listen
Sorry we're running a little bit behind
I actually was at work until 6.30
And got all the way here from lost cleanness
And got on here
I am Rob
Joining me each and every week
He is Chad
We have been of your teeth sir
We were still late
But we got here
And that's the important thing
You know
Got to pay the bills
Indeed
So joining us this week
We had a call in Audible
We had to go to the bullpen
And available to us right when we needed him
It's been a little while since he's been here
He is Clive
What's going on?
You actually hear yourself this time
We made some adjustments
Beautiful day outside
Spring has sprung as the kids with the clothes in the hair like they say
You get a block party going on down the street from your hair
That's how we do it in the downtown baby
That's how we roll
In town, the city of wood
The other in town is where I'm from
The current in town is where I live
So every episode we start with corrections
And by the way
Kind of a biocundios to a member of this band
Yeah, I saw that
We'll see you next time
Got a lesson with him
Yeah
Multi-instrumentalist for a minute
Work passed away on Thursday
Uh-huh
What's there Thursday
Had a nice little text conversation with friend of the show Chris Randall about that
So
Don, good to see you in the room sir
We welcome you
Like I said, we got a little behind but we're doing good
Listen to last week's show
We were clean
Nothing, nothing glaring on missions
Nothing that I screwed up too bad
All that apocalyptic mayhem
We got out Scott free
Hey, and that's not to say that's not going to happen this week
I think you're saying
I think there's a greater than zero chance that's going to happen this week
Yeah
So let us start with a little bit of NASCAR
Last weekend of course was Texas Motor Speedway
It was actually going on during the show
So actually it's literally a week old at this point
Wait, yeah
So let's give you your top ten
If we can
I hear this, I hear this
Again, you just can't help it here
Turning to Corn Holyo when you hear this
Number ten in the Diet Mountain Dew National Guard Chevrolet
Number 88
Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Another top ten finish for him
In ninth place
In the Budweiser Chevrolet oddly enough
Right above him who used to be his sponsor
The number 29 Kevin Harvick
Eighth place in the Fastennell Ford
Whatever that is, number 99 Carl Edwards
Number seven in the Farmers Insurance Chevrolet bomb
Boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom
Casey Kane in the number five car
In the sixth place in the Napa Ola Parts Toyota
Martin Truex Jr. Matt Kenseth in the best by Ford
Number 17 comes in fifth
Number four in the Dew Park 20 years Chevrolet
They pretty much sponsored Jeff Gordon since day one
Yeah, they have
He comes in fourth
The bronze medal goes to the Aaron's 2011 best of the best Toyota
Obviously not if he came in third place
To the number 55 Mark Martin
The silver medal goes to five time, five time, five time, five time, five time
Sprint Cump Champion in the Lowes cobalt tool Chevrolet
That would be one Jimmy Johnson
And winning
In the 3M Phillips Street number 16 Ford Greg Bipple
And these used to use the word Bipple in a sentence
You'll take it. I'm in. I'm in. So I'm good with that
That is your top ten finishers at Texas Motor Speedway
Let's get you your Sprint Cump standings
Right now in the hot seat
The number 12 Paul Menard goes up to
Number 11 Carl Edwards
Stay steady
Clint Boyer Ryan Newman both dropped one apiece
Number eight up to is Jimmy Johnson
Five time, five time, five time, five time, five time
Tony Stewart drops four places this week
So
He drops two seven
Number six up one Denny Hamlin Kevin Harbicks
Stay steady at five
Martin Truex Jr. Up to to number four
They'll earn Hart Jr. drops one but he is still top three
As he is, he and Matt Kenseth are both tied
19 points behind the lead
Your winner from Texas Motor Speedway being Mr. Greg Bipple
Again, I get to say
Well, hey, if it's names there, I'm going to use it
Just saying
Two knights
No, that's not what I wanted
I got to learn how to read sometimes
No
Here we go
So tonight we are at the Kansas Speedway
Which is actually right outside Kansas City
If you're going between Kansas City and Missouri and Kansas City, Kansas
It's like right there on the border, I mean you can't miss it
It's huge and it's in the middle of nowhere
Right up the freeway
For the STP 400 that is not Stone Temple Pilots
For you younger kids
That is an oil
And that goes on
Tomorrow at 1230 Eastern
930 Pacific on your local Fox affiliates
Is there anything you have to say Fox every time you say it?
I don't know why, I just have to say it then
Is it hard for me to associate Richard Petty from STP every time you see it?
Thank you, somebody else in the room gets it
And I'm not a NASCAR guy, but I know Richard
Remember you remember when Craig Henning was one of the rest of the West Texas Redneck
So it's part of their theme
I love NASCAR, Richard Petty, still the king
No, I'm trying to push that out of my head
We're going to move on, we are your one stop shop for all things sports and entertainment
Every Saturday night at 8 o'clock on the East Coast, 5 o'clock on the West Coast
It's the best I could do for this
We're going to do a little TV talk right now
I mean you could really spit this next story in a lot of different places
This is just the one that made the most sense to me at this point
In case you've been living in a cave
This past week we got to say a Viacone Dios to the Great
And I do mean the Great
Dick Clark, who dies of a massive heart attack at the age of 82
I'm going to let you, gentlemen, since I've talked this entire past segment
I'm going to let you guys pick up a little bit of my slack here for just a moment
And then I will jump back in
Okay
Alright, right over
The first question I want to ask is
Before we get into what he's done, I want to know your, because again, we have two different generations represented in this room
What are your memories of Dick Clark's?
Well, I know the first thing that always comes to my mind just because of who my leader is
Is what Dick Clark has admitted was the toughest interview he ever had to make
Which was?
Prince's debut on American bandstand
Well
Because he wouldn't talk
That's good old Prince would not talk
Mr. Symbol
Yeah, I mean, this is back in 79
He came out and performed
I want to be your lover in his gold lame pants and his sparkly shirt
In true Prince bass
And his Donna summer haircut
And when he, every time Dick Clark would ask him a question
He would just either nod or shake his head no
You know, he asked him how long he'd been performing live and he held up four fingers
He was just being really
Was this a statement he was trying to make?
Yeah, he was just trying to maintain that air of mystery about himself
And Dick Clark said it made him want to pull his own air out
That's a weird dude
Well, yeah
Outside of his music, that's a weird guy
Guys, I don't believe me
As much as I love to do music, you will not hear me to bait you on that
But that and just growing up watching the New Year's rock and eve every year
I was like, back when it was literally the only gaming town for you to watch our New Year's Eve
And I remember growing up around here, we always had it on that
They didn't do the one hour delay
When the ball dropped in Times Square at midnight there, it was 11 o'clock here
And we saw it drop there, they didn't delay it for us
They do it now, I think, on certain shows
But back then they did, we're like, well, we still got another hour
So keep breaking it, ain't over yet
What about you, though?
Back to what he was saying, cave dweller
That was me this week because this is actually the first time hearing of this
What?
And I swear, this is the first time hearing of him
I know I mentioned that last night, I think while I was out
And yeah, this is news of me, but as far as did Clark
I mean, I can't really say that I was, like I said, we're talking about totally different generations here
You know, I guess the problem would have been
Manning with you guys were really getting into what you were into
By the time, I guess I came into this world, I mean, this guy had been out for 20, 30 years already
And he'd been doing, but you have to honor the guy for him being and having his hands
And so much, especially with entertainment, because the guy really did put a lot of people on the map
Yeah, well, I mean, look at the stuff he's responsible for
He's responsible for producing the Golden Globe Awards
The American Music Awards, how many amazing performances have you seen from that?
Exactly
Artists strive, you know, artists kill themselves
And end up on these shows
And he's the one responsible for that
And he had that, I guess that niche, just for knowing, you know, where to be at the right time
The American best thing, I know my mom used to always
That was, I guess, the bands up in the front room, pull the couches back, move the coffee table
You know, when they performed, it was time to get down, so
And the cultural impact, not just because, not just from the music standpoint, but from the
You know, society at large standpoint, where like, I heard several people saying on CNN this week
That when they watched American bandstand, when they were kids, it was the first time they saw
Whites and Blacks dancing together
Exactly
That's a bold move, especially back in the 60s
That's huge, but you know, music's always done that, really to bring people together
It brings the barriers down
It brings people together
Thank God for that too, I mean
I don't know where we'd be without it until that right now
I think that just kind of eased a lot of the
Racial tension then might be out there
If it weren't for shows like this, I mean, another thing if it weren't for shows like this
I don't think shows like Idol would be on the air, I think you could see Chris himself said that
Absolutely not, I think it wasn't new in the voice, I guess it was this one that did
The voice, I mean, you know, all iterations of the X factor
You know, if it weren't for shows like the stuff that Dick Clark's been putting together, his whole life
I mean, because we grew up with him, but he grew up with us just as much as we grew up with him
You know, have shows like, I mean, because whenever I guess, whenever I really started realizing
Like music, how much I started liking it, soul-train
Absolutely
And we all know soul-train easily could have been a derivative
Well, I'm glad you said that well, he did a version of soul-train
He did a direct competitor for soul-train
That only lasted about a month
And it really put him in Don Cornelius at odds for it
Yeah
But let's roll history real quick
He started on radio
At a station owned by his uncle
Little winded, I'm sorry, I've been running my mind
That box we used for the remotes, I think it's heavy
He started bandstain in 1957 and it ran daily
Five days a week, at least until 1963
He is also one of the very few people in history that at one time had a television show on seven days a week
I won four or another
You'll never see that again
After 1963 it ran weekly until 1987
And they spent two years in syndication after that
He also started New Year's Rock and Eve in 1972
Yeah, I literally grew up on this show
They started running this when I was three
And I watched until he just couldn't do it
Stop it, stop it, stop it, stop it, stop it, stop it
It was actually meant to compete with Guy Lombardo's CBS New Year's Eve show
That was Lombardi
I think that's Vince Lombardi, is it?
It's Guy Lombardo
Oh, okay
All plates are
And it was also a youthful alternative
Because he was bringing on popular acts of the day
Whereas Guy Lombardo was just doing the Big Bear thing
Kind of like the Lawrence Welp thing
He started the $10,000 Pyramid in 1973
Which is the year I was born
And how many different versions of that were done?
Five
Just kept on going up
We're going to talk more about Dick Clark more in-depth
Later on the show because he is the subject for the list tonight
So very much looking forward to that
For me
No, we talked about one
How weird is it that he and Don Cornelius pass in the same
Yeah, within mere months of each other
Because after the whole blow up they had with him doing his own version of Soul Train
They call Abraham a lot of stuff together and they become very very close
What was his thing called?
I don't know, I mean don't look it up
I thought maybe you might have it handy
Because I never heard of it
It's actually a van from it, I'll get it
It's almost eerie though
Going back to the whole Cornelius
And like those two
It's almost like death in threes
And it always seems like
Celebrities
It's like who's the third one, you know?
Well, but that there's been such a big gap now
But well heck, I mean you had the drummer from the band
Diet earlier this week
And then you had the musician from minute work
And Dick Clark just boom, boom, boom
And the American band said it was the longest running variety show in TV history
Gosh
And that's impressive
Well now everything is just so
Well look at it
Season holdin
57 to 87
And two years in syndication after that
Right around the time music started
You love gasp, it's last breath
I'm 29
Let's do this for 30 years
Yep
Just you were just doing bandstands
It was called Soul Unlimited in 1973
Hosted by Buster Jones
It was a more risqué and controversial imitator of Soul Train
And alternated in the bandstand time slot
It only lasted a few episodes
I can't imagine Dick Clark doing something that edgy though
If it was
How long has Soul Train been on that time?
Soul Train had been on the air
That was 73, 4 or 5 years at that point
And of course Dick Clark did game shows
He did the bloopers and practical jokes thing with Ed McMahon
He also, if you remember the show, American Dreams
With the very hot Britney Snow
I can say that because she's an adult now
And I can say she's hot
Her character was a dancer on bandstand in Philadelphia
He executive produced that show
I mean he's going to be missed
He was America's teenager
I remember the American bandstand grill
That was at Grave By Nilsen
There's three left
There's three of them left
One of them is on the Jersey Turnpike
Yeah
In a rest stop
But they still exist
We're going to talk about him more in the show
Viacum Dio Sir
You are a legend
And you are a piece of my childhood
A piece of everybody's childhood that I will always remember
He's such as at some point
So yeah
Then there's a reason I got this song playing in the background
Kim Kardashian announces her intent to run for mayor of Glendale, California
Womp, womp, womp
Do you think the people in California are begging these
I mean they had to be happy when Lamar got signed here because well at least we got part of him out of here
No, they're coming back
He's back now
But apparently they did a big deal on her show
About them talking about
She's going to move there and get a house so she can establish residency and she's spending on five years running for mayor of Glendale
Why
You are a note
This is not Carmel and you are no Clint Eastwood
That was my first thought when I heard about this
Was didn't? I know that was Carmel
Yeah
But you know what? If Schwarzenegger could be governor
I was just about to say
Reagan was governor before he was president
Kardashian
This is for me
You need to balance the budget that has no money in it
You know
It's crazy as this may sound
I would almost trust Arnold to run a political seat
I wouldn't trust Kim Kardashian to sit the right way on a toilet seat
I wouldn't trust Kim Kardashian with the buttons on the remote control
Well they say in a
Ford Fairland
Couldn't find a handle on a coffee cup
You can hear the wind whistling through her head
It's going to be a big office chair regardless
Somewhere
Bruce Jenner is going
Why did I get involved in this
Shara was checked in and so of course as your wife who is of British descent
Shara says if she does she's going to run for mayor of Mesquite
You're going to have to run against me first
Because that's my first step towards world domination
No, it's mayor of Mesquite
You are already a mayor
I'm the mayor of awesome town
You can't
You have two cities at the same time
In the city charter
No, I don't think so
You are listening to the clubhouse
We are right smack dab in the middle of TV talk
We've got a lot to cover this week
Make sure you follow us on Facebook
Look up the clubhouse podcast
You can follow me on Twitter
Yes, that Rob Urban
You can also follow the show on Twitter at clubhouse show
I am at Chad in VG69
I'm at the genius
G-E-N-Y-U-S
I had to switch it up for Twitter
Somebody had it
We actually have somebody else in the studio
We could tell our friends who is also with you tonight
This is my buddy Martell
He happened to be a casualty of war here
So he's hanging out here
Casualty of war
He's how good that
I didn't realize this was a war of attrition
It's my brother from another
To have people in the studio is awesome
It just is, I don't care
One of these days we're going to get ourselves a nice studio
And there'll be things of that nature
But someone would have to pay us first
How we Mandel because he doesn't have enough to do
Is going to be starring in a new game show on NBC called White Elephant
This appears to me
To be a combination of deal or no deal and let's make a deal
Because here's how this works
There's going to be six rap gifts on a stage
And each contestant is at one at a time
Is going to pick a rap gift
Shawa says she should just run for president
And ban the Kardashians from running for office
I would put that as a constitutional amendment
I'm just saying
Now the other contestants are going to use luck and strategy
To either steal the prizes that have not been revealed
Or gamble on what they have as being worth more
And the contestant with the least value prize at the end of each round is eliminated
NBC has ordered seven episodes of this show
If you're going to do this, that show better be about two hours long
Absolutely
To declare a winner
And does the winner get all the prizes?
Or
Who knows
What kind of prizes are we talking about here too
They haven't said yet because they just now ordered the show
So lord only knows
So how we Mandel
Who in the last ten years has made more money than he's made in his entire career
Is added again
And I'm a big how we Mandel fan
I have been since I was in the sixth grade
Where our bodies were
That was my, that was my male right there
This is a great show
I've been a fan since his first album called Fits Like A Love
Where he was doing the glove thing on the cover
Uh-huh
And he divided the Wattousi
And they actually have the very first how he Mandel special on DVD in the living room right now
And the handbag and...
Yes
And I remember I he did um
I want to say it was for Ray for how he would where he did it in the round
Yes
And somebody got up in the bathroom and he had everybody in the entire arena
And he could go all the way around
And the person came back and it was like what the hell
So I like that I don't...
I'm not a real big fan of the germafold how we Mandel
Now maybe he was always...
He's always been that way but he didn't make that big of a deal about it back then
But probably because he's more public now than he used to be
You know when he started hosting deal with no deal
And then he was on America's Got Talent
He was a lot more accessible to the public
But could you see him doing his kind of prop comedy style humor now
And the personality that he's come out with
Although I couldn't see it
How he Mandel and I was one of the funniest things I've ever seen
Great I've got that in video somewhere
Two Nashville men are suing ABC and the creators of the bachelor
For never featuring a person of color to be the picker instead of the picky
I find this ironic
Nashville
Wow
Did it just drop 20 degrees in the studio?
But the producers are saying this law suit is without merit
Now
The last time I checked
Were there any laws that governed this entertainment?
No
And it seemed like we had a very similar incident with that
That Super Bowl commercial that had Jerry Seinfeld and Jay Leno in it
The...
That apparently somebody that auditioned for the role of the car salesman
They wanted a light-skinned African-American actor
Imagine that
Uh-huh
I'm gonna go ahead and go on the MTV took up this like for a bachelor with the real world
So we're good
Sure there wasn't a white men watching the bachelor
Valid point
Valid point
Between MTV and VH1
We got it
I love New York
I love New York
It's good
Yeah
Men are watching the bachelor because they can't find anything on logo at that particular time
We're not saying we're just saying
I'm just saying
Good news if you're a fan of arrested development much like I am
Yeah you're the biggest arrested fellow in the fan I know
Next year Netflix will be carrying ten new episodes of arrested development
Do yourself a solid great show but you have to watch it in order don't
Don't watch the episodes out of order watch them in order from the beginning
The only thing is there's going to be ten new episodes next year
But they're gonna drop them all at one time
Instead of maybe doing one a week
I kind of like that
But it just makes you wait longer for the production to get done
Yeah I just don't know
And then you're gonna have to wait
Well it's either this or nothing at all and I think you prefer this
I will take this over nothing I'm not gonna lie to you
I don't know why they're doing it like this but it's what they've this is the strategy they've chosen
George Lopez because Lopez tonight did so well
Box is gonna give him a show called Take Me Out
And they were thirty second women work with a pool of men to narrow it down and then the men turn the tables and get to narrow it down to two
I can only see this being good for one show
MTV single down
Well I'm just saying
I mean I think how many people they pass through the single outset and that show went what three or four years
One way to many of my opinion how many people get hosting that thing
I want one's Jenny McCarthy laughed I think it was kind of weak
At Carmen Electra you had apparently she's dating an NFL linebacker now
Who they're not saying yet who Carmen or Jenny
No Jenny McCarthy is now giddy apparently about dating and I don't know what carry
They've been done for a while
She actually hit on Tibo Super Bowl week
Cave Dweller
Yeah, you know what and Don I'm exactly with you on the comment you just made okay
You got to catch up on Game of Thrones it's killing me
That's the okay my talent you just we did that
Is that not the great show ever I watch like one episode so far but I think I'm gonna have to go
Oh oh what would you think the Spartacus finale I got two left
Okay shut up I'm only behind two episodes you're now behind 15 so suck on that
15 is like and how long have you had HBS you've had it for what three months now with HBO go sir
15 episodes there's only like six episodes a season man what are you doing
No there were 12 last season there've been three this tomorrow will be the third episode of the new season
No fourth because it was April 1st 8th 15th and now the 22nd
So Neanor Neanor Neanor Neanor Neanor on you sir okay no no flaw in that logic at all
But your shield Spartacus vengeance just been insane challenge to do have you not seen it yet I love Spartacus
Have you not seen the finale as one no okay don't say nothing I think I said that I've got two episodes left
This season and I can say this safely this season as good as the first two were this is the best season they've done
The long shot absolutely I still can't get pass Liam McIntyre but it's still a great show
The only problem I have with it is it is a different actress playing Navi
Liam McIntyre never take me out of this this other Navi it just doesn't work for me
For fans of Eureka Viacan deals to that show next week never watch that it's a sci-fi thing
Nutty science just nice design fiction thing but it's a sci-fi channel thing
You know aren't they doing like dyno volcano or something tonight something like that supra mega shark with turtle feet
Yeah
Supasha
Oh
We now have details for season two of a show Chad was very on board with called American horror story
Yes, it is going to take place in an East Coast institution for the criminally insane that will be run by a character played by Jessica Lang
This like complete role swapping oh not even role swapping just having nothing to do whatsoever
And even and not apparently not every actor is returning a big chunk of them. Yeah big chunk of my not all Sarah Paulson
Evan Peters a little e-rabe and Zach Quinto will be returning but they're going to be playing different roles
But you know so it's kind of like a it's kind of like a
So we're looking for
Ensemble piece like a repertory theater
Yeah that's what I'm looking for
So I'm kind of on board with that
I just I'm just saying it's going to be it might take place in a different time period
I just thought it was weird that you didn't have your your your principal actors returning on this
No McDermott no what's your name from the one you like so much the redhead from Friday night lights
Hmm can I be Britain?
Yes, thank you
Could not thank your name in Vera Farminga sister
Is it Sophia or Sonya Farminga or whatever Sony I think
But joining the cast
Because this guy doesn't have enough to do
No kidding
Adam Levine lead singer of maroon five will be playing one of the two what they're calling the lovers
Who's kind of ballin out right now
That dude that dude that dude's a pin
He's ballin out
He's been through like his third supermodel in the last
That's what I was just about to say
I watched the Victorian Secret English show
It was like really
He's like the Tom Brady of music
It got proper it got me
It got proposition by Jennifer love you and he said yeah
Let me tell you something
If I'm Adam Levine and that doorbell rings and there's Jennifer love he went the door is open
Hey that door is open
But you never know he may know somebody who knows somebody who knows just how crazy she is that we don't know of that
We didn't say you had to finance it long term but you can take it for a test drive
Yeah maybe he thinks the liability is insurance as well
We're right wheels a little giant
Yeah exactly
She'll go hollyberry on you and say ah no I'm out
Oh he bears creepy
Cheat down
I'm so upset
And so let's so here's a transition
Let's go from American horror story to this
June 2nd
The hub which is a cable channel that does a lot of kind of great
Great cartoon stuff great family stuff is bringing back care bears
It's gonna be CGI
Really? Yeah
Do we do we need that seriously?
We're gonna have a caregiver if I can't get a reboot of the go-bots do you I don't that I don't like the go-bots
I didn't mind the good side kills the bad guy
I didn't mind go-bots I figured you'd want a reboot of mask
Oh I would love a reboot of mask
Oh my head would explode if they announced a reboot of mask
If I had 80 bucks I'd have that entire DVD set in this house right now
Another show that I dug but just wasn't all over
You got to watch robot taking if you do not
Oh my shower Charlotte just oh
Why would you even know that Charlotte my love?
Tonight is the Royal Wedding on my little pony hosted by Tori Spelling
Uh, who's connected to computer Charlotte?
The Royal Wedding
She said it was on the radio yesterday
I did hear something about this entertainment weakness website had to did this have on their front
I did have this on their front page at one point
Since when was my little pony even relevant
Though they rebooted that thing
I didn't even know they had a show I didn't either they had a show back in the day
So we're gonna bring rainbow right back to
Didn't they have like tattoos on the back of me?
Yes
Come on man, tattoo a horse, a little pony
They brand them, it's a pony

We have a blast every time there.
We're hoping you meet us there too
and bring everybody in now.
Right now, let us do a little Major League Baseball talk,
which is Cliffs Wheelhouse.
Let's go ahead and start at the bottom of this section
and then go back to the top
because we had breaking news.
I texted you about two hours ago.
I'm going through my news,
I'm just trying to do some research,
use some final polishing for tonight.
And all of a sudden,
I see this announcement from the White Sox game.
It's 17th inning and Phillip Humber is pitching a perfect game.
So I'm like, I'm at work.
I can't watch this.
So I go to the Yahoo where they give you the live up the box score
and I'm just watching and I'm like,
there's another one.
You just got from Texas?
There's another one.
I'm not for sure,
but it gets to the ninth inning
and this guy's still pitching a perfect game.
I'm like, Holy cow, here we go.
Humber sales at the Texas last night.
So Humboldt was right outside Houston.
Or that's Humboldt, yeah.
But he pitches the 21st perfect game ever.
For those of you that are not versed in such things,
a perfect game when a pitcher has a perfect game,
it means no hits, no walks, no runs at all.
If you don't have any hits or walks,
you're not going to have any runs.
But 27 batters, 27 outs.
One of the hardest things to do in sports.
But I did see someone that keep Overman put up.
He took the Yankees as a no hitter
to the seventh inning almost a year ago to that day
on April 25th.
So impressive.
In fact, it's so hard that they're giving you
a million dollars or do it on a video game right now.
Somebody won it last year though, didn't they?
Well, they did it again.
This year's harder.
Yeah, they're doing it again.
Because pitching the perfect game was already too easy.
Yeah, yeah, hey, hey, hey.
So congratulations to Philip Humboldt.
Is it, I don't know if it's Humber or Humber.
That was pretty cool.
They actually, with one out left in the night,
with it was one out in the ninth inning,
they actually in the middle of a,
I didn't know you could pinch hit somebody
in the middle of an at bat.
I didn't know that either.
Yeah, because he pitched a strike in a ball
and all of a sudden the batter changed.
And it's a pinch hitter.
I was like, you can do that in the middle of a hit.
That's a bad.
I'm going to sabotage his game right there.
Just let it go, people.
Let it go.
And then he wide out the left.
Is that like, is that like icing the pitcher?
Ball don't lie.
Congratulations to that young man.
Johnny Damon now in Indian.
Anybody care?
No, no, this is like his 18th team switch, I think,
in the last two days.
Should have just stayed with Boston, just saying.
I'm sure Charlotte will agree with me on that.
Jamie Moir, congratulations to him,
being the oldest pitcher to win a game ever
in the history of ever at the age of 49.
This has been a big week for Major League Baseball.
His first win to put this in perspective.
She says he should.
He should have shaved his degree.
His first win was in 1986 for Jamie Moir.
When he beat Steve Carlton, he's already in the hall of fame.
If I'm not mistaken, he's had over 250 wins
since the age of 30.
And this is after Tommy John surgery.
You know, they said that makes you better, though.
Some people go get it just because.
And right now, the crazy part is right now,
he is being seen as the best pitcher on the Rocky's rotation.
How old was Nolan Ryan, whenever he finally hung it up?
He was in his 40s.
He was no spring chicken either.
But Jamie Moir, because remember we talked about on this show,
the week before he decided to come back,
if he hadn't come back, it would be the first time
that there hadn't been a 300 game winner in baseball
since the late 1800s.
And then a week later, Jamie Moir comes back.
So congratulations to him.
Pudrod Regas.
World Series winner with my beloved Marlins.
Retires as a Ranger.
As it should be.
Yeah, seeing a great, seeing him win a ring
with my beloved Marlins, I'll roll there with you.
I just wish you didn't want one here.
It was weird.
It was just weird to see him in a Detroit uniform.
Yeah, it's weird to see him as anything but a Ranger.
I mean, but you can say that about a very long list
of athletes that have gone on to other teams.
That'll come back.
I mean, it's like, yeah, you may have played there,
but you'll always be this.
Terry Franco, we reported on this show last week
said he was not attending the 100th birthday of Fenway Park.
He said the wounds were still too fresh.
He didn't want to be hugging guys that he wanted to punch out
basically.
He did end up going.
Oh, he did.
It was last, it was just the afternoon.
It's a man loose.
Theo Epstein not invited peace, which I think
we all kind of understand that ugly as that got near the end.
But a lot of people said that I miss it.
Of course, I work second shifts.
I get to see a lot of this cool stuff.
But they said the ceremony was really neat that the fans
were very, very welcoming to everybody that was there
to see all the young guys and the young guys
and the in-between guys was really kind of neat.
Congratulations to Alex Rodriguez.
He passes Ken Griffey Jr. for fifth all time
with 631 home runs.
I'd have been a lot harder at Ken Griffey
and I've been hurt so much.
Yeah.
A lot harder.
OK, Charlotte, would you just put this chat room?
I'm going to ask you who you refer to in that Damon, I guess.
I don't know.
I don't think she was talking.
She might have been talking about Pudge.
Oh, oh, Pudge.
Yeah, she's playing Pudge.
Apparently, Charlotte grabbed Pudge's butt once.
Sweet.
So she's got that going for it, which is nice.
I was back to the scene, God, thank you.
Back on track.
Two years ago, I said before this show existed,
I said that Barry Bond's breaking the home run record
as mad as it made me.
It was going to be OK, because A-Rod was going to pass them
anyway.
Because at that point, A-Rod was kind to D-Baggy,
but he wasn't full blown D-Baggy.
You know what I mean?
T-D-R-D.
Now, who's going to break the record?
I don't want it to be him now, because he's just annoying.
He really is.
I mean, Bond was just a jerk.
But he's just, he's like a nat that you could just never
seem to swat.
Jerky for the sake of being jerky, you know?
But, and you never want to see anybody pass
Ken Griffey Jr. on any list, because you
want to talk about a guy who is class.
I was watching Dan Lebertard the other day,
and they were interviewing this kid.
Used the pitch for the Padres, now pitches for Cincinnati.
I can't remember his name.
They were asking him, he actually was pitching against Griffey.
Oh, he's, no.
No, it wasn't him, never mind.
And he said, I threw the first pitch,
and Griffey swung and missed.
And the only thing I could, because Lebertard asked him,
what was it like pitching on a guy, because he said,
I idolized this guy, he goes, I like
to think of man, that swing was sweet.
It wasn't that I threw it, and he missed it.
It was just like, oh my god, that's the sweetest swing
I've ever seen in my life.
But I turned around, and if you catch the right camera,
and go, I do smile a little bit.
I got him, I got him.
You are listening to the clubhouse live every Saturday night.
Make sure you listen to our partner show, Cody's playbook
that airs on Sundays.
If you want in-depth, especially when
it comes to college sports, spring games underway,
Arkansas today, almost 70 to nothing in their spring game.
What?
Yeah.
What's their spring game?
They played themselves.
But you're being kicked.
You're being kicked.
No, I saw on Twitter today.
70.
It was like it was like 69 to nothing or something,
stupid like that.
So you're powerful.
Do you want to do any college baseball
before we get out of this segment, or do you want to just wait?
Maybe we'll do it.
Go unless you're done.
We get closer to the college world stage and talk about it.
Hey, that is, he has an alumni.
I know, he's just, what do you want to, that's it.
That's all I got.
He is a fellow SEC fan.
Yes, sir.
We stick together.
Yes, sir.
Except I had a guy that's one of my vendors at work who's
an A&M graduate.
And he said, well, you know, next year when we win the SEC,
and I thought I was going to fall at the floor,
I was like, can you keep dreaming, my friend?
That takes you so good.
That takes you so good.
You have those goals.
And of course, one of his competitors is in the zoo graduate.
With both of them coming in, and I'm like,
I feel so bad for you guys.
I really do.
And my boss's boss is a Vandy grad.
He's like, I was so happy because now we're not
to beat him post.
Yes, sir.
Let's do a MMA talk.
Apparently Bobby Lashley can't decide what he wants to do.
Last week, he was talking about doing boxing.
Now he's in negotiations with Bellator.
Just be big.
Yeah.
Just be a big guy.
A lot of MMA fans in the room.
I know you're probably going to be leaving here.
I watched the paper music.
I didn't have to be up at 3 o'clock tomorrow morning.
I would be watching this fight tonight.
Do you ever see Bellator as being a viable competitor
for UFC?
No, because they're trying an awful dog on heart.
UFC has absorbed so many smaller factions now.
It's come to the point now.
Bellator was like college MMA, and UFC is not a pro, you know?
Well, I will say that I do believe I called the fact
that once UFC left spike, they were
going to pick up Bellator, and they did.
Another doing that MMA live, which I just,
I can't even watch that until that.
Right, I think right now, the only real competition
with Fridane is going to be Vince.
No.
But to me, that's still kind of apples and oranges.
No, they're just going to keep farming each other's talent.
If I can't succeed here, I would try to succeed here.
Does face it, TNA?
Speaking of UFC, UFC 145 gets underway
is at 8 o'clock or 9 o'clock tonight.
So you got another hour, which really you just want
to show up at about 10.30 when you're getting ready
for what could be the fight of the year.
Now, no FX is, the FX is playing like the preliminaries.
I think there's a lot to read.
And Facebook had some of them too, about two hours ago,
Facebook fired up their fights.
Really?
Yeah, that's what he's, the under undercard,
he's doing on Facebook now.
Wow.
Then you have the regular undercard, which
is going to be on FX, which it is right now.
And then, and then another hour, it'll
be on, on pay-per-view.
For Shot Evans, John Jones, this is going
to be a fight, dude.
It is.
I don't see either one of them giving it.
I think this has to go to distance.
I don't know.
I always say one thing about John Jones.
I love Rashad.
I love John Jones.
Both of those guys are on face fighters.
That's my problem, too.
It's a fight.
It's like, when you have two of two guys
that you really, really like fighting each other,
it's just like, I just have to, all I can do is watch.
And hope one of them doesn't kill the other one.
I think Bones is going to get him, though.
Bones is a bad man, dude.
Too much reach, too much speed, a way to unorthodox.
Because if you look at Rashad, when he went up against
the Yodo, with that unorthodox style, the Yodo owned him.
So I just think, John, these guys trained
it separately for a little while because I guess
Rashad Evans or actually John Jones
actually said that Rashad used to give it to Bones
in training.
And they used to be teammates.
Yep.
Many, many moons ago.
This is going to be one of the best fights in the year.
I think so.
I mean, what else is out there to really,
to you could say would compete with this fight?
Nothing, I do just want to see silver pound on a good old
sound in there.
We're going to talk about that here in just a moment.
We do have a replacement for Junior Dos Santos
at UFC 146, not for him, but to face him.
Because as we all know, last week on this show,
we reported Alistair Overing fails
another drug test.
Very great.
Yeah.
That's a lot of humanity, that man.
That's a big boom.
Yeah.
But Frank Mir is going to be his replacement.
Thoughts on that.
I like Mir.
I like him for being a, he actually a competitor.
Because I'll be honest, I got sick.
The whole Brock Lesnar thing and the whole mirror and whatnot.
Those guys just not liking each other, the way they did.
I thought that actually brought those two brought light
to that division, that weight division.
I mean, those two big guys was the first time I've seen guys
move that well, slug on each other like that.
And you're also going to have Canva Lasquez is going to fight.
Isn't he fighting Roy Country Nelson on that card, too?
Or was he fighting Mir and Nelson was fighting somebody else?
Because those were, they were both on the card before.
I don't know who Nelson was fighting.
I know I, I like that.
He's good, man, but he gets winded way.
Well, it's just because he's just a big dude.
I was like, you know, there's muscle in there somewhere.
I'm sure.
It's just so guys don't like that, you know?
They just, they don't cut up, but you could tell.
Because he moves pretty well.
But yeah, I forgot who it was.
He fought and was it all right now.
He fought somebody, it was winded by like this second half of the second round.
You could just tell.
He just couldn't even have any more.
And the moment's not helping him either.
Absolutely not.
We were talking just a minute ago about Anderson Silva-Chill Sonnen.
That second match may be moved originally talked about a couple of weeks ago.
That match happening in Brazil in an 80,000 seat stadium.
They are now talking about moving that two weeks later to July 7th in Vegas.
Rumors are so but not happy about this.
He wanted this fight to be in front of his home fans in Brazil.
Yeah, a bird last time that fight.
But see the other problem apparently is that
Chill Sonnen's having some problems getting a fighting license in Vegas for some reason.
I don't know what's going on with him.
I don't know if it's testing.
He's worried right there too.
He's just an odd duck.
He's funny to listen to.
But at the same time you're like, this dude's literally insane.
The fact that he had a belt made form that he's like the MMA version of CJ.
Yeah.
Just what are you talking about?
He showed up on ESPN with the belt and they're like, where did you get the belt?
That's not you.
You're not the title holder.
I guess he went out and bought a replica belt and he just carries it around with it.
I forgot the receipt.
It says it's mine on this receipt.
Did you see after he went his last fight when he said that Joe Rogan?
No, we talked about it a little bit on the show.
But Joe was like, what did you think about the fight?
He goes, no, Joe, this is your night.
I want to know.
I want to ask you a question.
What what is it like for you to stand next to the greatness that you are right?
I swear to you, I mean, just and Rogan was just like, what?
He sounds like a heel wrestler.
I think that's what he's going for.
But it's, but it's, it's comedy more than it is heel.
Does he have a goatee?
No, not right now.
He needs to.
But he did refer to himself in the third person.
That's, that's the, yeah, the greatness that you back up.
I'm not so enough of that.
Leave that.
But I just want to know.
I don't know what thinks anybody, unless your initials are GSP, I don't know what makes
anybody think they can beat Anderson Silva at this point.
I know.
Because I'm in tank.
Because remember, you got Dana got out of that, about dancing around, you and I watched
that fight together.
The Maya, right?
Yeah.
Damien Maya.
And then the next fight, where everybody thought, oh, Anderson might get beat.
And then like halfway through the fourth round or through the fifth round, which is like,
oh, Joe, you're done.
Well, I said that.
I really think he played possum for four and a half round.
I'll tell you this.
And I called it me and my buddy Nate was sitting there watching this.
I was Nate doing, by the way.
Nate's doing honestly.
Matter of fact, I got to catch it with him after this.
We watched, we watched Silva let go of three Cameras on Sony.
Let go of three of them.
Just, and I know he, if it would have been a trash target, I wasn't, I was on him when
he let those three Cameras go and just let them know I could take you out at any time.
And then he did.
And then he did.
And he gets up, Sony's been pounding on his face and he gets up not a cut.
Not a drop of sweat.
37 seconds left.
Just locked him out.
It's like, what?
What?
And then I was like, that's almost gone.
I almost got a fight plan.
It's forcing it at night.
Okay.
That beer throwing on me that night with your, he has a shirt that says Anderson Silva is
my friends.
And it was just this crew of Sony impersonators talking trash.
And finally, Sony or Silver locks him out at 37 and I get up, jump on stage.
Oh, I was there for that.
I remember that.
It had everybody.
I didn't think it was going to run.
I didn't think it was going to run.
I didn't think it was going to run.
I didn't think it was going to run.
I didn't think it was going to run.
Yeah.
Oh, yeah.
I remember that.
I remember corn out of flying across the stage.
Yeah.
Sorry, I remember that.
I totally forgot about that.
That was a long time ago.
That's going to do it for MMA talk.
We are your one stop shop for all things sports and entertainment.
If you would like to sponsor any segment or all of this show, please give, send me an email
at the clubhouse with robincoady.com.
Let me know.
We can get you hooked up with that kind of stuff.
We will be changing the website very, very soon.
I've got a meeting scheduled with our webmaster next weekend.
So we're going to roll out some new stuff.
I'm very excited about where the show is going.
And we are now eight episodes away from the milestone.
God almighty.
Already making plans for episode 100.
Yes, we are.
So let us move on right now and do a little music talk.
Happy record store day to each and every one of you.
This is such a cool idea.
Basically where you can just go and like movie trading company today was doing by to get one free all use CDs.
You got to people all like hard media like that.
Just any of those items is pretty much just for not a lot.
In some cases, I will but I'm still a fan of heaven that CD with the higher notes.
Absolutely.
I'm just old.
We just got a new CD tonight.
What did you get?
Guerrilla Zoe.
It was by way of our passenger.
Oh, really?
Thank you for that CD.
Nice.
I just I just finally got I'm on a mission now with it.
Whatever I buy a new CD.
Even though I put it in my iPod, I still have to listen through it once because I may never listen to the tracks again with the main tracks that I have in my iPod.
I finally got caught up in all of that today.
I have like 15 CDs in my drawer.
It works.
I'm just trying to listen to one of the times.
But you know, I found life after death for 10 bucks at best by the other day.
I didn't have it.
So I had to pick that up.
Nice.
It was kind of funny to watch the people work looking at me.
I'm kind of bobbing my head and I'm like, what are you listening to and just held up a CD and they're like.
Like y'all don't know me.
You don't know me.
You don't know I'm from.
You heard?
Right.
Projects.
You are hearing it in the background right now.
We mentioned this on last week's show Sunday night closing out the Coachella music festival.
The first weekend.
This Coachella.
Apparently there's two weekends of it.
This is supposed to happen again this weekend.
It'll turn out tomorrow night.
They're supposed to bring him back up.
I thought it was just one weekend.
I know it's only one week.
So did I.
But all throughout this week when people were commenting on it and they said, well, he's probably going to do it again this weekend.
I'm like, no, he's going to do it again this summer.
No, they're talking about Dr. Drain Stoopdog headline Coachella with the hologram of two-pock.
First of all, have you seen the footage?
This was amazing.
Because my first thought was this is going to be really cheesy.
It's going to look like cartoony.
And then I saw the footage on Monday morning in my jaw.
You two carried the whole thing live.
All of Coachella was carried live on YouTube.
So they already had the footage.
You felt like you could reach out and touch it.
My only complaint of it was when they were trying to keep him centered.
It did have that.
He looked like he was walking on a treadmill thing at a couple of points.
He was just kind of floating instead of walking.
But once they got that under control, that was amazing.
Especially when an artist is animated as Tupac was in a performance.
That guy was close up on it though.
They had the detail of the tats and everything.
It was like the first shot that I saw.
It was rising up on the stage in the cameras right there on his thug life tattoo on stomach.
It was ridiculous.
I don't know how they did the actual performance.
It's basically called The Pepper's Ghost Effect.
For those of you that have ever been in a haunted house and you see an ethereal-looking image.
What if you ever went through Disney's haunted mansion?
All the ghosts in Disney's haunted mansion are done with this effect.
Right.
They take an illuminated object and it's angled towards a flat reflective surface that they're projecting it onto.
That's how they did it.
It really wasn't a hologram because it wasn't three-dimensional.
It was just a flat image.
But close enough to where it looked like snooping Tupac wrong stage at the same time.
And it was incredible.
And they were supposed to do this with Nate Dogg.
But I don't know if it happened.
That's supposedly what they're doing this week.
Oh, is that what it is?
That's what they're doing this week.
Everybody keeps pushing for Elvis too.
I just don't see Elvis at Coachella.
This company that did this.
No, not at Coachella.
Just doing this.
Doing this type of thing.
The company that did this, actually, this is not their first foray into this.
They did a deal.
And I'm trying to find the footage of it.
Apparently, I guess it was last year or year before.
They were commissioned by Mariah Carey where she ended up doing a concert in five different cities at the same time with this technology.
Wow.
And they've already been approached by the people that are doing Michael Jackson and Mortal.
To put him into that show.
By the way, that is coming to town at the end of June.
Go ahead.
Two shows at the American Ocean.
I definitely want to see them doing this for their.
For Beatles.
For Beatles.
For Beatles love.
I could see them do a needle love.
Be where it is, man.
We got right where it is.
Because it's so great.
Well, because this technology didn't really exist yet.
I could see them doing this.
I mean, can we pretty much go down a short list if they would make the most sense for them to do this with?
But what answers would we give them that people wouldn't go.
Yeah, that makes sense.
Elvis.
Obviously.
Well, my entertainment weekly said, why can't you do this with Nirvana?
Because Courtney would never agree to it.
Because she blocks everything.
I don't know that she owns the estate.
That would be nice to have David growl up there in real fast.
Yeah.
Just kicking it, man.
You see, I mean, because what's no butchellic doing right now?
That brother they got nothing going on.
And when you say Vegas, he's usually the first act that comes to mind.
Wayne Newton.
No.
That's wrong.
Before him.
Sinatra.
The chair back.
That would be awesome.
Sammy Davis.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Now we're talking.
The rat pack reunion show in Vegas.
I would be on the phone with Armando right now.
That would be off the check.
He from Rossi.
Tom.
That's all I'm saying.
He's got Sam is cigarettes.
I'd go see that in the heart.
So Guns and Roses inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame last weekend.
Matt Soren says he is actually is who is the second drummer for Guns and Roses.
He says that he is writing a script for the biopic about the band.
Would this be something you'd be interested in?
These guys had a lot of drama, didn't they?
More than...
Oh gosh.
They're behind the music pretty much covers it.
But see, Matt Soren, again, second drummer in the band.
The first drummer in the band was kicked out of the band for his drug and alcohol problem.
And I once thought it could be and then said,
when you are kicked out of a band with slash for your drug and alcohol problem,
Betty Ford is pretty much a nagging switch by that point.
I mean, would I read it?
I mean, if we haven't gotten the dirt, it's a screenplay.
It's not a book.
It's a biopic.
If the dirt's not going to get done, this ain't going to get done.
Is it not going to get done?
Or is it just stuck?
I haven't heard any news about the dirt, which is based on the book of that Motley Crew did.
It's the biography of Motley Crew written by the members of the band.
From each of their points of great book.
Great book.
It's actually well.
Yeah, by the guy who wrote the game or whatever.
The game, yeah.
And that biography on Jenna Jameson and also the biography on Marilyn Manson.
And Erosmith.
Did he do the Erosmith one too?
Don't get me lined.
I think he did one with Dave Novello as well.
Wow.
So you got to have tattoos in order for him to write a biography about you apparently.
Why not?
And rumors now coming out.
Robin Gibb has is out of the coma that he has been in.
I don't know what that says.
But it was medically in due.
So I don't know.
Maybe if he's getting better or if they're just going to let him go naturally.
Yeah, I don't think they would bring him out of the coma if he was getting worse.
So.
And has anyone else read about this whole Nicki Minaj Twitter thing that she deleted her Twitter account?
Yeah.
Because of because somebody else in her head told her to.
Because apparently somebody leaked her album online like the week before it released and she's all ticked off.
Wait, the album that she released that was a remix album basically of the album she were produced before because it's not any album.
Yeah.
Robin reloaded.
Yeah.
And now she is referring to herself in the third person and talking about leaving music.
Leaving music altogether.
I'm like, Oh, please don't do us any favors and stick around.
That Joe left Atlantic.
So going back to that again.
I leave back.
If Nicki Minaj left the music industry.
I wouldn't lose us.
It wouldn't bother me that much.
Take MIA with it.
But here's my thing with her.
She can sing.
But I've heard her sing.
She can sing very well.
She's one of those and I've said this before.
As hot as Katy Perry is.
Don't you don't have to trick up the bit.
You have talent.
And I say the same thing about Kesha.
I say the same thing about Lady Gaga.
You have skills.
Especially Gaga.
Gaga really is talent.
You don't need all this crap.
Yeah.
All it does is mask what you're truly capable of.
It drives me nuts.
It's not being so much style and be a little more substance.
That's a big problem that the music industry has right now.
It's all packaging and no product.
And when the product is out there,
a lot of times you don't even get the best part of the product.
No.
That's what drives me nuts.
I try to get to the.
That's going to be a list we're going to do one night.
That I'm going to do.
I'm not going to do it in two weeks.
This is going to take me a while to put together.
But I'm going to do a list of albums that have better singles than the ones you've heard.
Yeah.
Or better songs in the singles release.
Yes.
Yes, that's what I meant.
All right.
New music releases in your local CD record store or iTunes Amazon whichever way you get music.
This coming Tuesday, a new album from these guys.
Wow.
This was still their best album.
The self-titled release from Eve 6.
Still their best album.
They had great songs here and there.
But this album still consistently.
Oh, it's great.
I always thought they were a rap group.
I was going to confuse with Eve.
Every time I saw this, I was like, oh, they're mine.
So she thought maybe they were like six guys that were her backup band.
That's why they're called the band of the six.
Yeah, you know.
This song especially.
But they really speak in code.
This coming Tuesday.
Also Jack White.
Love this guy.
Who releases Blunderbuss.
It's a shotgun.
It's a shotgun.
It's a fire arm of sorts.
Oh, there you go.
Did not know that.
Now I know.
Jamera Kwai?
Wow.
There's a name I haven't heard in a long time.
Why wasn't that album released on Friday?
I was just saying.
Was it come with a replica hat?
The furry hat.
The furry cat and the hat and style hat.
They were the ones that made videos with treadmills popular.
Yes.
Before O.K.O Sanity was a cool video.
It was.
I'm not a big Jamera Kwai fan.
I think that's all.
Because I think it's truly appreciate them.
You have to be one of those guys that likes to roll the doobies.
Oh, I dug it and I had nothing to do.
I'm talking about them in general.
But they release rock dust light star.
Is that the...
That sounds like a spinoff from SpongeBob SquarePants?
That sounds like a drug-induced title.
Just saying.
Metal band Testament.
One of Doc's favorites releases the Dark Roots of Earth.
So it should be an uplifting album.
It sounds like a family Christmas album.
I'll be playing that this year around the tree.
And the Dandy Warhol's released this machine.
They are best known.
That's a great name for a band I've always loved.
They are best known for their work from the cover album
called If I Were a Carpenter.
I got it.
Yeah, it's a Carpenter's tribute album.
That's the main thing I remember them from.
So...
That's all we've got in music talk.
We are your one stop for all things.
Sports and entertainment right here on the clubhouse.
We appreciate each and every one of you listening.
If you miss any section of the show,
it is archived almost immediately after we get off air.
Mikey's listening, by the way.
He just can't log into the chat.
Oh, hey Doc.
Come on, what's going on, brother?
Appreciate you.
Let's go on and do a little NBA news.
Yo.
The text I just called from.
Who's the brother?
Yeah.
Mikey.
Yeah.
Yeah, we should reintroduce our guest.
Joining us tonight.
Friend of the show.
Long time friend of both of us personally.
He is Cliff.
What's up?
Good people.
Good people.
The brother.
How is your lovely lady friend, by the way?
She's good.
She's good.
You have to give her our best, please.
I've seen her in forever.
Absolutely.
And your lovely daughter as well.
Absolutely.
Outstanding.
Big, big.
Don't...
That's what they do.
She's like five foot right now.
It's only three.
She drove me over here.
Yeah, she dropped me off.
Call him when you're done, dad.
She had to go five tail sound and say she will take care of me.
She picked him up from the KV.
He was dwelling in.
The Lonte West with the state-classy move of the week.
Did you see this footage?
Yeah.
The Mavericks are playing Utah.
Towards the end of the game, the Lonte West walks up the Gordon Hayward.
And we are still not sure if the Willie was wet or dry.
I didn't see the finger twist in the mouth.
But it was he came from off camera.
So we don't know if the finger when he stuck it in Gordon Hayward was wet or dry.
It gets a $25,000 fine.
We call this a buff.
That's what we call this.
I would call it knocking somebody smooth out.
Yeah.
Someone tell you what, somebody does that to me.
That's a flagrid too.
And it's suspension.
Because I'm knocking you clean that up.
That's the grounds for an ace kick.
I'm going to hit you so hard your mom is going to feel it.
Good morning.
It's just gross.
I don't care who you are.
The lowest finger's a bit.
Somebody's going to hit him with a water bottle.
Speaking of which, did you see this footage from the Heat Game the other night?
Guy's sitting courtside.
He's texting on his phone.
And somebody misses the pass.
Ball hits this guy square in the mush.
He's not even looking because he's texting on his phone.
Bam!
He's right in the side of his face.
You've got good seats.
Pay attention to the game.
Stupid.
Don't text and spectate.
It's like Levittard said.
The people in the 400s were ticked at this guy.
Yeah.
Really?
Just a surprise for the courtside seats last year for the NBA finals.
Uh-uh.
We're thinking of a 60 grand apiece.
I got that on me.
60 grand?
60?
Thanks value.
60 grand apiece.
Yeah.
That's MTOW, baby.
That's Miami.
That's how we do it in South Carolina.
Oh, my God.
60 grand.
Well, that's also this town too.
That's a foul point.
I'm talking about it.
I'm going to see a family.
I'm fighting my friend.
Whoa.
Whoa.
Whoa.
Whoa.
What do you want?
You got two cars to come with that too?
Yeah.
You ready to mortgage the house, son?
Dwight Howard has successful back surgery.
Season ending.
So a lot of people are now saying maybe this was the next
kid, but he was porting every team in the league.
I don't care what you say.
You can't think of it.
But he also will not play on Team USA for the summer Olympics
because of his back surgery.
You got a new name.
Dwight Howard.
I just...
I had so much respect for him before this season.
I did.
Absolutely.
Matter of fact, it's gotten so bad with him.
I was reading the other day.
Now, high school players are staying out of their...
They're sitting out of huddles.
The coaches are looking at him like, you don't get paid?
Yeah.
There's no scholarship here.
Yeah.
That's why I also believe the one in Dunroll should be...
It should be abolished.
It should be like the NFL.
Three years for you to come talk to him.
Yep.
Because it's just...
It's such a red...
They're not every player is Kobe.
Not every player is LeBron.
Nope.
Not every player is Vince Carter.
We're Wade or...
Yeah, I mean...
We're Wade with the college, though.
Yeah.
He put Mark Kett on the map.
Oh, absolutely.
That guy right there...
That's the biggest heart in the NBA right now to me.
I actually got a little sick just now.
When you're here and you're saying that these kids are sitting out of huddles.
Sitting out of huddles.
Kids.
Just because...
Because they've seen...
Right now it has been a catalyst for this entire new movement.
With college kids are doing it.
I mean, have you also heard the other story about what he did a couple of weeks ago, apparently?
No.
He allegedly called the owner in his box from court side to let him know
if you don't get rid of Staten Van Gundy, I will not play another game for this team.
Called him from the court.
Called the owner in owner's box.
From the court.
Right.
Where'd you get this phone from?
All right.
He probably got it from the guy that was texting.
He probably didn't grant it.
Yeah.
God.
Go find that footage.
It's hilarious.
Oh, my God.
Oh, it's hilarious.
Let's go to your current standing.
Oh, by the way, congratulations to Steve Nash.
He passes Oscar Robinson for fifth all-time and assists with 9,888 cards.
Oh, my God.
You know what?
This was another situation where it's like, you don't want to watch Oscar Robinson get past it.
But you know what?
For Steve Nash, I'm good with it.
I can pick it.
It's probably the guy in the league.
Never been a problem.
Kind of got screwed around in this town a little bit.
If people don't realize, Oscar Robinson wasn't really in a position of assist at that time.
That position wasn't known for passing.
So for him to even be on that list like that was impressive.
But yeah, I hope we get in Nash next year.
I really do.
I hope we get him.
So tonight's the last night of the regular season, is it not?
Yeah.
It's tonight.
Because Boston's played 37 and 27 is 64.
There's two games left.
I lost a bet too.
I bet that the man's wouldn't make the playoffs.
There's two places away.
Let's talk about those standing.
First of all, let me ask you.
66 game season.
No?
No.
I kind of like it better than 82.
I don't want a 66 game season for one reason because everybody is on a pursuit for that bull's record.
You take that.
You take that.
That's true.
You can't get everybody once that record.
Everybody.
So, you know,
Chicago got close to this.
They did.
Let's go over the standings as we are getting ready for the playoffs.
Eastern Conference Atlantic Division, the Toronto Raptors.
Are 14 and a half games out of first place.
They are tied with the New Jersey nets at 22 and 41.
The Philadelphia 76ers, I almost screwed that up.
Four games out of first place right in the middle of the pack.
But New York, three and a half games behind Boston.
New York has clinched a playoff spot.
Boston has clinched the division.
In the Central Division, the Cleveland Cavaliers, 21 and 41.
How's that working out for you?
They are 25 and a half games out of first place.
But there's still a game and a half behind Detroit.
So they said they could catch up.
Four games in the division.
Milwaukee is 17 and a half games out of first place.
They are 11 and a half games behind Indiana,
who has also clinched a playoff spot.
Where did the Indiana place Pacers come from?
I don't know.
Granger is really doing it right now.
Nice.
Same place as San Antonio Spurs came from.
And Chicago, of course, has.
They've quitted the vision.
47 and 16 this year.
24 and seven at home this year.
And 23 and 9 on the road.
I mean, it's 11 and 1 in the division.
You're going to wrap it up again.
Yeah, it's wrapped up.
In the Southeast Division, the one that matters.
The Charlotte Bobcats.
Seven and 55.
They have now lost 19 games straight.
God almighty.
They have lost almost a third of the season straight.
This is like an 11 and a half games.
I always have these teams that just.
That one is Michael Jordan on suicide watch right now.
Michael Jordan is the worst.
He's got to be out of his mind.
He's the worst personnel picker I've ever seen.
The Kwame Brown catastrophe.
That will go down in history when he was with the Wizards.
But I'm just talking about like he's not you.
I mean, I'm sure he's lost in his day,
but he's never lost like this.
No, like he's he hasn't lost on a golf course this bad.
He hasn't lost on the diamond.
He's got to say with Birmingham.
I think he did better than this.
He's had his highs of highs.
Now he's in his lowest of lows.
And there's still nine games behind the Washington Wizards.
That's how bad the Bobcats are.
Yes.
They have a 113 winning percentage.
113.
I'd have a better bad number to the MLB.
To put that into perspective for you.
They've won seven more games than me.
I just want to throw that out there.
The Charlotte Bobcats have one set.
I am seven games behind them.
Orlando, nine games out.
They have clinched a playoff spot.
They are a game and a half behind Atlanta.
Who can we just just give Atlanta a pass into the first round
so they can lose and get out of it?
Please.
Atlanta is just habitually losing the first round.
Pull them a gradey.
They wouldn't.
Atlanta, seven and a half games behind the division,
clinching, our beloved Miami Heat.
45 and 17.
They won their last five straight.
Although right now they are struggling with Washington.
But I'm sure nobody's playing.
I was really worried about that.
LeBron was 17 of their last 17 straight points.
Yeah.
17 points in a minute.
They beat up on the bull to the night too.
Yes they do.
I was redemption.
That was redemption.
Because the bulls came in our house and did us dirty.
Western Conference Pacific division,
Sacramento 19 and a half games out of first place.
They might not even be in Sacramento much longer.
Because there are problems with that arena deal.
It has fallen through.
Golden State 17 games back.
Phoenix is seven games back.
The Clippers are only a half game behind the Lakers.
With two games left in the season,
the Pacific division has not been locked up.
I have to check it.
Look out the window.
Make sure they're more pigs.
I'm telling you.
I'm telling you.
Northwest division, the Minnesota Timberwolves,
20 and a half games out of first place.
Remember, they were lighting it up in the beginning of the season.
I don't understand.
Love, I mean.
Riki Rubio.
The most underrated guy in the league, I think.
Kevin Love.
Kevin Love.
He's a beast.
And cool as a fan.
Oh yeah.
I've seen him in interviews.
That dude is funny.
But that bloodline, you know, he ain't got to play basketball.
Yeah.
You got beach boys running through your blood.
You're good at G.O.
Boom.
Portland is a game and two and a half games ahead of Minnesota.
Utah, 13 games out Denver.
Now, 11 games behind Oklahoma City who has, of course,
clinched the division.
The team that will own the Western Conference for the next five years.
I say so.
In the Southwest division, New Orleans, no longer a conflict of interest.
I'm sure you heard about that.
Owner of the Saints has now bought the Hornets.
Oh yeah.
I did hear that.
Boom.
But they're still 26 and a half games.
Paul, you should have waited.
But you know what?
They're 13 games ahead of Charlotte.
Houston has dropped off the map.
They are now three and a half games behind the Dallas Mavericks
who have clinched a playoff spot.
But Dallas is 11 games out of first.
They're three and a half behind Memphis.
Memphis is eight and a half behind San Antonio.
What?
What?
What have you said?
Antonio.
I mean, with the days today.
I thought they weren't even sponsored.
I wasn't sure.
I didn't think they'd even be at the table this year.
I thought they'd be out of the running February.
But they have just been on the top.
Just broken down.
You thought they were going to be trotting out there and gear sponsored by Depend.
Oh, you can't get off my court.
Exactly.
How appropriate the coach name is pop.
Eastern Conference, the way the playoffs are shaping up.
The only seed that is not locked up now is the eight seed.
As Philly has the eight seed.
I still can't be Philly fell off like they did.
Philly turned.
Philly beat us.
It beat us.
I mean, they could not maintain.
New York is the seven seed right now or land of the six seed.
Atlanta, the five seed, Boston, four, Indiana, three.
But the one seed is not locked up yet because Miami is a game and a half back in Chicago.
Boom.
In the Western Conference, eight seed, Utah, seven, Denver.
Those are not locked up yet because Phoenix and Houston are actually right there right there behind them.
Dallas now has the six seed, which means they will meet Memphis in the first round.
No, no, they will meet the Clippers in the first round.
Oh, what a seed.
Memphis, the five seed, the Clippers, four, Lakers, three Oklahoma City as a half game behind San Antonio.
Wow.
That's amazing.
Blake Griffin is going to need shoulder pads.
You're pretty soon because if they keep throwing those files on him, like they're throwing on him, just let the guy dunk.
Just let it go.
Let it go.
Okay, he's going to throw it in.
You don't even have to touch the rim 90% of the time.
By the way, I want to backtrack a little bit.
I forgot to talk about Ultimate Fighter last night.
Vince Pekel beats John Cofer.
So team, it is now tied 3-3.
And because crew's a team wins last night.
So your team, your fight for next week is Chris Saunders versus Sean Silla.
That is crazy.
Maya Cousin married Chris seven.
Great.
Really?
Little known fact.
Little known fact.
Look at that.
You see the question mark over my.
I've got fighters in my family.
Don't touch me.
Well, they have to get on a step ladder to do it.
I want to take you off anyway.
You look like you can handle yourself.
I'm on my mind.
I'm on my mind.
I'm on my mind.
So playoff start next weekend.
The nine weeks that will take in the first round.
And the NBA playoff takes you off.
But the NHLs already most pretty much done with their first round.
They kind of, you know, stagger this stuff, I believe.
So it doesn't run, you know, conflict itself that much.
My Detroit railings got knocked out.
Come on.
What is this?
Because I'm digging this.
This is the NBA rap from hurt him bad.
Tell our roles, sir.
From basketballs, greatest hoop hits.
Thought you about to say empty heart.
I was like, what?
I guess I got a sidetrack.
I do a game with with my new trainees on the first.
I like to do just odd games that kind of refresh their brains.
And we do name the song from the lyrics.
Somebody threw out B and G B the other night.
And I was like, what?
Where did that come from?
It's like wake up in college again.
What happened here?
Did never miss.
I always loved back in the day when they wouldn't have enough words to make a sentence.
To never miss a jump shot.
Just a shoe warrant something in there.
They're probably just freestyle in the whole time.
We know they have pen and paper back in.
It is now time for us to do person of interest.
The person of interest is a segment on this show where we take a person or an entity
and we discuss their greatness or lack thereof.
The pendulum does swing to Chad this week.
I was digging around on one of these sites that I go to for movie TV news stuff called
Vulture.com.
I don't know if you guys have heard about it.
And there was an article on there talking about the Bravo Network.
And how much of their programming is just spin-offs of other shows on Bravo?
Like say real housewives of Orange County.
And one of the women decides they want to leave that show and do their own show.
So she goes and starts planning her wedding.
So they do a show about her wedding that she gets pregnant to do a show about her pregnancy.
And they said like 30 to 40% of the programming on Bravo shows are spin-offs of shows already there.
Kind of reminds me of like Mitsubishi and Ford.
Well then I didn't start doing a little bit of digging and just looked into the concept of the spin-off in general.
And you'll be shocked at how much spin-off we've actually grown up on for just years and years and years and years.
Some of the things that I thought was, I knew a lot of this stuff was spin-offs anyway.
Because I watched the shows that they spun off from and saw the genesis of them.
But then I didn't even realize that some of the shows that I'd been watching had been spin-offs already.
You know, you really can't really, you can't call like the remakes that we get over here.
Like goodness knows the offices are remake from the British, you know, the BBC version of the office.
Like all in the family, that was a British remake.
What was the other one?
Sanford and Sun was.
What outsourced?
What is, there's another one.
Outsourced?
Is that, I want to say that was a, I don't know if it was a TV series over there,
but I think it was a feature film.
That was translated into a, into a weekly series over here.
Uh, but the, the, the list that I can go down.
Just go to vh1.com.
Oh, trust me.
Yeah.
Oh yeah, that, that, that becomes a really heavy player here.
You play the flame at like 19 shows.
Well, but remember where did that start from?
What was the parent show that that all started from?
With the flame of flames, huh?
Yeah.
Oh.
How they meet.
You're talking flavor of love, right?
Right.
Okay.
They made that show because they were on a show before that.
The Bridget Nilsen's role.
Right.
The surreal life.
Ah, yeah.
When they had a Ron Jeremy of vanilla.
Right.
That's where that whole thing started was with the surreal life.
And just the list of show.
Okay.
You know what?
Let me scroll down there real quick.
Let's do it.
Who wants to be amazing?
Oh, that was one of my top 10 shows that Fox is going to choose to ignore.
It's morning on their show tomorrow night.
They're retrospective.
Fox has a 25th anniversary tomorrow night.
Really?
That's probably a show every year.
They own like 28 networks.
Well, I mean, if you want to talk, okay,
you want to talk about the level of ridiculousness and spin-offs?
How long can we talk about law and order?
Oh.
See, those are actual spin-offs.
And I don't know if you've addressed the question in the chat room.
Are there any differences between a remake and a spin-off?
Yes, absolutely.
Yes, absolutely.
A spin-off is when a character from one show,
i.e. Cleveland, from the family guy,
gets their own show, the Cleveland show.
That's the difference.
Your lovely wife, who is up British to sense,
is the UK version of the office is not really that good.
And it didn't run for nearly 10.
I loved the British version of the office.
Okay, here's, okay, I get to the surreal.
And Don, you're right.
I did see the film of outsourced.
And I thought the TV series was very good.
The surreal life, it spawned off.
Strange love, flavor of love, I love New York.
New York goes to Hollywood.
New York goes to work.
Real chance of life.
New York finally gets the crap out of my life.
Real and chance, the legend hunters,
charm school, I love money, my fair Brady.
You see where I'm going with this?
Oh.
Yeah.
I mean, that's what Bravo is doing
with pretty much their entire network.
That's almost repulsive.
It's just all these,
the real housewives of Orange County spawned off
all these other different locations.
And then they run off and do their own shows.
It's just, it's ridiculous.
Now, there are cases where the spin-off shows become
greater than the show that they spun off from.
Like Rob and I were talking about this the other day.
You're way too young to remember the show
that was on called Love American Style.
And I know they try to,
I might have to think about that, hold on.
And they've tried to bring it back a couple of times.
But not all that successfully.
But one of these spin-offs that it had,
I'm not going to mention the bigger one,
was a, became a huge Broadway play,
was written by Neil Simon,
called Barefoot in the Park,
that they actually made into a movie with Jane Fonda
and Robert Redford.
But the thing that I think,
well, that most people were remember
that was probably the most successful spin-off
from Love American Style.
One particular episode of Love American Style
was called Love and the Happy Days.
So Happy Days spawned from this
anthology type show.
Now you want to talk about a show
that spawned off a bunch of spin-offs.
The list of Happy Days spin-offs is ridiculous.
Joni loves Chachi,
Laverne and Shirley,
Mork and Mindy.
Yes, that was a spin-off of Happy Days.
Yep, because Mork was unhappy days.
Yes.
What kind of work is this?
That wasn't the 50s,
and then Mork and Mindy took place today.
Because he was capable of time-trapping.
He wasn't alien after all.
I thought it was an alien.
Yes.
On Happy Days?
Yeah.
What?
And apparently the letter writing campaign
that ABC received whenever Robin Williams showed up
on Happy Days was so,
it was such a landslide of letters
that came in and said,
bring this guy back.
Bring this guy back.
Because Robin Williams was pretty much
just a struggling stand-up comedian at the time.
Well, not maybe not so strange.
Not really so much struggling,
but he was just gaining popularity
in massive amounts.
And they liked him so much
that they just gave him his own show.
What happened to that show that
you used to do with that really
crystal and woody goldware?
I don't remember it.
Comic relief.
Comic relief.
Yeah.
They did, they did want about
a little over 10 years ago,
that was the last one they did.
They did, I mean, they were every year
in the late 80s,
and they kind of fell off them.
They came back and they fell off again.
But I mean, like, you know,
cartoons have their own spin-offs.
You know, you've got several different versions
of Transformers with Beast Wars
and all this other stuff.
Tom and Jerry spins off these, you know,
shows with featuring Droopy
and Spike and Tyke and that kind of crud.
The whole Looney Tunes family.
Oh, my God.
You know, you've got Tasmania.
Animaniacs.
I think spun off of that, too.
Animaniacs is not a spin-off.
No.
But it did create spin-offs.
No.
But it did create spin-offs.
Because Pinky and the Brain got down there.
You know, with Pinky and the Brain
getting there on the show,
all they did was re-air old episodes
of Pinky and the Brain for Man.
So Pinky and the Brain for Man.
Animaniacs.
But it was Pinky and the Brain show.
Okay.
I love you, bye-bye.
That was Mindy and Buttons.
That was a dog.
That dog was a head dog.
What?
Chicken.
Or Buttons.
And then Liquid Television.
Anybody remember Liquid Television?
No, absolutely.
It was MTV's first foray.
It was like a variety animation show.
And in the 1993,
MTV Video Music Awards.
You know, every year,
there's like a theme to the VMAs.
In 92 or 93,
the theme was animation.
And so each show
that was on Liquid Television,
was Introed.
And sometimes it was Introed
very abstractly.
And...
Huh, let's go on here.
I'm just trying to look something up
as I'm trying to do this on the fly here.
Queuing up somebody's theme song?
Yes.
When they Introed,
the intro for Best Metal Video,
there were just these two guys on the screen.
And they just start laughing.
And then it goes from them,
it goes from them to a Billboard
that says Best Metal Video.
And you just hear,
that was cool.
And I was like,
what is this?
And why is it so awesome?
And that's what created Beavis and Butthead.
It's what created Eon Flue,
which was then made into a horrible film
with the Charlize Theron.
Most people call Eon Flux,
I don't know where this pronunciation comes from.
That's the actual pronunciation of it.
That's the actual pronunciation of it.
That's the actual pronunciation of it.
And Beavis and Butthead's pilot episode
was an episode called Frog Baseball.
And it also created celebrity def match.
Now that was genius.
Which made a little bit of a comeback last year.
Yeah.
That was genius.
And then Beavis and Butthead created its own spin off with Daria.
Daria.
Daria.
And then you've had all the stuff that spawned off
that what a cartoon show on Cartoon Network.
And what a cartoon show
what that really was was kind of a test ground
for what Cartoon Network thought might deserve a series
so they would show these on the what a cartoon show
and see if they could get enough audience reaction
to solicit a series.
For instance,
Powerpuff Girls,
Dexter's Lab,
Greatness,
Courage the Cowardly Dog,
Cowan Chicken.
Cowan Chicken.
I mean,
and of course,
everything that came along with that,
I am Weasel.
I am Weasel.
But I am Weasel,
but wasn't his nemesis IR something?
IR Baboon.
IR Baboon yet.
What a freak of the week.
Freakles,
but see, Freakles was part of that whole tiny tunes
and a maniac's progression.
Some people call this spin-offs,
I don't,
because they weren't characters on each other's shows.
It was just Spielberg had his hand on all four of you.
Oh, Johnny Bravo.
Forgot Johnny Bravo.
Hey, Johnny.
Love you, Barbara.
Grim Adventures of Billion Mandy,
co-named Kids Next Door.
I mean,
things that really became greater than the show
that they spawned from.
So,
and then you've got all the different spin-offs
of Star Trek.
Next Generation,
Deep Space Nine.
Deep Space Nine.
Voyager Enterprise.
Enterprise,
which was the animated series.
Yeah.
There's talking, there's talking of a new Star Trek series.
Really?
Yeah.
Just bring me,
just bring me a sequel to the,
to the 2000s.
They're filming it now, brother.
They're just,
they're filming it now.
You can't get here.
You can't get here quick enough.
I'll tell you just a power ranger.
Yes.
Several different.
See, but see,
that's, that is true,
but that's,
that's passed my generation.
See,
my problem was,
when the original power ranger show came out,
I worked at Toys or Us.
So, I went through the hell of people yelling at me.
About not having the figures in,
because we couldn't keep them inside.
We had a waiting list,
15 hundred people long.
The red was the one.
The red was the only,
the reds only came one to a case.
We had a waiting list,
1500 people long.
Yeah, here's stupid thing.
Here's the money,
more power ranger spin-offs.
VR troopers,
masked rider,
big bad beetle boards,
mystic nights of tearing,
tearing a nog,
what the heck?
I'm so glad that passed us.
You're telling me,
you're telling me,
they're like,
now, like, back to like,
the dick,
and gargoyles.
Gargoyles is good.
That was good.
Yeah, yeah,
good show.
And then, you know,
you had your mash stuff too.
After mash,
after mash,
after mash was bad,
but a lot of people.
Trapper John did well.
People, a lot of people
forget about that.
There was a completely different actor
playing that role,
but that was the same trapper John.
That was a trapper John.
Different actor in the movie too.
So, okay, I'll work out.
And the make room for daddy
went through me for a loot too.
Yeah.
Go ahead.
Some of the spin-offs
of the make room for daddy
that I'm sure a lot of people
did not realize.
That's where Andy Griffiths show
came from.
Go more pile.
Yeah, me!
The Joey Bishop show.
The Danny Thomas show,
who was the daddy
from make room for daddy.
And then you,
oh, she what was that one?
The Desi Lou playhouse
brought us the untouchables.
And, oh, she what was the other one?
Discuss some of your stuff.
And you guys talk about
your generation.
But then you also had, you know,
different strokes,
which actually did spin-off
silver spoons,
because there was a character
cross over there,
spun off the facts of life,
which then had its own
sped-offs.
I never saw that show.
You ever watch the facts of life?
Take the good.
You take the bad.
You take them both,
and there you have the facts of life.
Wow.
Greatness.
And you had,
I was, I just lost my show.
Oh, Cosby shows
spun off a different world.
Nice.
Because that's what happened
when Bill Bentley
sub-boned A from the set.
Give her her own show.
Give her off my show.
Different strokes apparently
had several spin-offs, too.
Other than the facts of life,
Brian and Sylvia,
the Academy,
Peakskill Law,
Big Apple Blues,
More Facts of Life,
Beginning of the Beginning,
and Hello Larry,
which I'm not,
Hello Larry.
It just sounds like
something that was in the 60s.
It's like,
Hello Larry.
That, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that.
And you get stargate,
of course,
spinning off Atlantis and SG-1.
But are we,
spin-offs?
There's some cases
where it's worked.
I, I'm just not a huge fan
of the spin-off in general,
because it shows a lack of creativity.
Well, but, well,
no, it shows a lack of demand
by the fans
that they want more
of a particular character.
Look at Benson,
spinning off from soap.
But Benson was greatness, though.
That's what I'm saying.
Benson, I think,
I mean,
I mean, Benson was as good
if not better than the show.
I never watched,
I never watched soap.
You never watched soap.
That's what launched
Billy Crystal's career.
I know that.
No backs in, and you know,
I never watched.
And, uh,
well, but they don't know
that is what I'm saying.
You know, I was going
somewhere completely wrong,
and that's what I started with.
Uh, and all in the family.
Yeah.
Look at all those spin-offs.
Mod.
Good Jefferson.
Good Times.
The Jefferson's.
Archie Bunker's place.
Yeah.
We could go on.
I mean, this list is so long
we would run out of time
before we would cover
all the major shows on this list.
Yeah.
Some of them are great.
Some of them.
Not so much.
So that's going to do it
for a person of interest.
The pendulum announcement is
back to me for next week.
So I got to come up with something.
Because after,
next week,
you get to, uh,
you get to sit in this chair
for a couple of weeks.
Yeah.
Thanks for service.
I think it's good.
You're going to be fine.
Yeah.
Check it out.
You are listening to the House.
We are your one-stop shop
for all things sports
and entertainment.
We are live every Saturday night
right here on YouStream.
One thing we forgot to plug
and we were doing the plugs.
Shop of Parker on Pinterest!
Oh, yeah.
So there's that.
Let us move on.
And next week is
Chicken Studio.
Last Saturday the month.
Very excited about that.
Let us do a little NHL talk
right about now.
Still looking for another song
I take it.
I work a lot, dude.
Okay, I'm just saying.
Have you seen this
Marion Jose?
Right before I left
to come over here.
Raffi Torres.
I had a lot of circumstances
that would be a clean hit.
When your feet leave the ice,
it's an illegal hit.
And you have been
docked for this five times.
Twice in the last couple of months.
Yep, twice in the month
of December alone.
Both of you won.
Both of you.
Both of you won.
Both of you won.
You shoved his shoulder
right into his face.
He almost took his head off.
He had to take it off for a stretcher.
And it gets 25 games for the hit.
He loses about 20 grand per game.
Does this seem to be more
of that than normal this year?
This year, it is like this year, there seems a lot more of that than there has been a long time, or are we just more focused on it now?
I don't think media just focuses on all that stuff.
I mean, there have been three or four hits like this in the playoffs.
Yeah, the article I read actually had Brendan Shanahan breaking it down, telling what happened, how it happened, what he must have been thinking, and why they, why they,
Levy did the watch that they did. There's somebody that knows dirty playing. Uh-huh. That's what I'm saying. I'm just saying, apparently he's a league official that, that presides over this type of activity. Oh, good Lord.
Yeah, I mean, beat him, Jordan. Well, you know, have Luger in charge of the wellness policy in the WWE.
Did you see this Tim Thomas footage? No, if you don't know about the Tim Thomas thing, Boston Bruins goalie, they win the cup last year, John's beloved Boston Bruins.
He refuses to go to the White House to meet the president because he doesn't agree with the president as policies, right?
So they get Washington in the first round of the playoffs. They go to play at the Washington arena, and people all over the arena have Obama signs.
And one of them is the hope picture that the guy painted for the last election. And it said, hope you get pulled.
There were people wearing Obama masks. It was very funny. I thought it was very created by the Washington fans. They lost, but it was still funny.
Oh, man. I'm sorry. I just want to see the end. I'm watching that hit now. Yeah.
Let's take a look at your NHL scores right now. Washington beats John's beloved Boston Bruins. They now have a three to lead in that series.
So you're depending on the cup champions, make it balanced in the first round. Yikes. Don't let that.
My beloved Florida Panthers now take a three, three to lead on the New Jersey Devils, which I'm sure you're very excited about Chad.
Ottawa up one nothing on the Rangers in the third period. That series is tied at two to San Jose up one nothing on St. Louis in the third period.
St. Louis leads that series three to one Chicago and Phoenix will play tonight for those you keep playing the home game.
The coyotes lead that series three one. But if you remember that America's favorite game, we were asking how far behind the Chicago black talks, the Columbus Blue Jackets work. So that shouldn't surprise anybody.
And Detroit as as Cliff said, are bounced out of the playoffs.
By the Nashville Predators losing for one, the flyers lead Philly three to in that series. Nashville got twice the right.
They have cool jerseys though. I like that logo with the big saber to the Tiger like that. I'm one of their players classic and one of their players is married to carry into it.
I think you got you didn't even get traded. I have no idea. She's still good looking girl care who you are.
But that's what's going on in the end HL.
Let us get to one of the meat potatoes of this show. We get into a little resting talk as we are your one stop shop for all things sports and entertainment.
Follow this show on Twitter clubhouse show follow us on Facebook or like us on Facebook. The clubhouse podcast. You can follow me on Twitter. Yes, that Rob Irvin ERV I am.
At Chad in PG six and nine.
This is Twitter right there. We're putter. Yes, the genius genius spell G in E Y U S. Montenegro have Twitter.
No, no, no, no, Twitter. Not you have a Twitter. Mr. Photo. That's going to be MR F O D as a dog. Oh, all right. He can spell. We're all about free plunge. He kids.
It's Frodo without the yard. That's going to do a little bit of resting talk.
Oh gosh, do we have to free hatch? Yes, we do because of the way this story works. Sean Hayes goes on the Conan O'Brien show this last week.
He's the guy playing. He played a he was jack on Will and Gracie is also playing Larry in the three stuchas movie.
He basically goes on and bashes the entire WWE after he'd been on it Monday night.
They called it quote with the air quotes high brow entertainment said he'd never go to a WWE event.
So CM punk decides he's going to respond. Is there a pipe bomb in our future? Here's the tweet. Holy crap. So the douche who's playing Larry in the three stuchas movie says he was embarrassed to be on raw, but he's in the three stuchas movie.
How do you how do you do anything but love that? Speaking of him, let's talk about rock.
I just want that movie to disappear from view as quickly as humanly possible.
So we were in London this week. So you know, you can set the bar very, very low for those shows.
Those who do not watch enough WWE. Whenever they go overseas, the shows are always subpar always without fail worse than usual.
And that's the only the only highlight I can give you from an overseas show.
Is Santino Morello weren't winning the intercontinental title.
It's very first time our truth being Sherlock Holmes shoes you hush your mouth. You shut your dirty mouth. That was terrible.
You told me that was the only thing that was entertaining about it, but even that wasn't that entertainment. Like that wasn't memorable.
When he was looking for a job for Teddy Long. Really? Look for somebody from WWE creative who's not on drugs.
I think Luger needs to look into the people writing this show, not the people wrestling for.
So we go to the CM punk Mark Henry rematch. That's no DQ, no count out.
And something happens. And King goes, that just silenced this crowd. And I was like, it wouldn't have spawned this one.
The match was that damn bad.
At least we didn't get the night cold again.
Oh, but he did bring it up. He did bring it up multiple times.
Watching somebody. Did you watch any of the Brock Lesnar interview footage?
I just heard words. I watched it more for the highlights of Brock Lesnar.
They show by the way, did not put to the run she but when he wrestles seen the next Sunday.
He will be the first person in the history of the WWE to actually wear MMA gear to the ring with his sponsors on it.
That was part of his deal. He still gets to wear the gear that has like the Jimmy John's and all that.
Dude, you want to tell him no? Have you seen him lately though? He does not look good.
No. He has a heart conditioner for a little while.
Oh, no, it's that particular lightest.
Oh, that's stomach. He was, yes, this is Abel or whatever it was.
That's why he had to get a UFC. That's why he lost to Alistar over him because Alistar hit him wrong.
He was done. Well, he knew. Yeah, he caught him in that gut.
But watching him FF5 Mark Henry, that's the Brock Lesnar Iron.
Yeah. Like, I was like, that was impressive.
The fact that he can even pick him up.
But that interview was so bad. He's not a talker.
Do I want to know what's going through John's seen his mind?
No. I want to know what's running down his leg.
Piss. Like, he had to explain it.
Oh, I'm sorry Brock. I thought maybe he'd spilled something on him when he went to in and out.
Burger before the paper view.
Oh, yeah.
I had that for lunch today. Are you kidding me? Greatness.
No, five guys. All I do like that was you on that way.
I do. I just had this discussion.
Yes, we did. But see, here's the thing.
Who introduced that man to both of those places?
That would mean it. That's not the conversation.
I still like it. I like five guys. My problem with five guys.
I can feel my heart slowed down when I bite into the burger.
What was the one thing I said, Cliff?
What was the one thing I contributed to that conversation?
You got to remind me that you get what you paid for.
Yeah. Very true. How much is it in that burger?
Like, night nights heads?
Oh, I walked in and I walked out. That's in and out.
No, and that's good eating.
Get your fries animal style. Change your life.
All right.
The fries were the animal style fries.
Are you five guys?
It's my thing with the five guys.
It's like, they give you a fries to kill a mule.
Exactly.
So that's why you bring a mule with you.
Yeah. You know what? I left my mule home.
Well, I wanted to regular guys.
Okay. The horses at the house.
This is a regular.
What?
Oh, yeah.
I remember the first time we went there and said,
don't order a large.
Don't order a large.
It was just you order the right.
No, I'm hungry.
Don't order a large.
We're telling you.
Yeah.
We got a large B B B B.
You got like 17 people in you can order large.
I don't know. I wouldn't do it.
I'm supposed to help you with these.
I have now decided to get the wheels back on this thing.
I have now decided that Collie is slower than Hogan.
You just now deciding that?
I'm going to job you now.
He's putting him in Frenchy as a tag team.
Oh, gosh.
In fast forward that doesn't go fast enough.
It's like, well, we read somewhere that they were working on a
Jurassic Park sequel.
This must be the mocap work.
Explain this to me.
Are we really supposed to pretend we don't know who AW is?
What?
This AW guy that's been scouting talent?
And weren't we supposed to pretend we don't know who this is?
Because you haven't changed him at all.
You don't remember the Abraham Washington show on ECW with Tony Atlas?
Well, I mean, that's who this spare is.
Well, but Lord Tencai anyone?
But they did say the first time that his debut,
Cole did say he is a former WWE superstar.
Those words came out of Cole's mouth.
Yeah, but they didn't actually call it.
Did they actually name check him?
Did they call him Prince Albert or...
No.
But I'm just saying, who is this mysterious individual?
You haven't even changed the way that dude looks.
Exactly.
At least with Tencai, you shave the wookie hair off him
and you put some tattoos on him.
You changed up to a bit a little bit.
And he did use the green myth this week.
Yes, for the first time.
And you didn't see him put the tab on his mouth, which was kind of nice.
Somebody finally finally got into the camera.
But you stopped putting the camera right in his face.
Changing gears.
As much as, I think, Kazarian is an absolute spare.
First of all, he's married to Tracy Brooks.
So he's got that going form, which is nice.
But when I watched Impact this week,
I noticed he almost shaved his head.
And I was like, Kazarian is like,
that the hair was his bit for a long time.
Apparently, he got rid of the hair and he donated its locks of love.
So I can't hate on the dude.
That's good.
You know, for those of you that don't know what locks of love is,
people, when they get their hair cut,
they donate, like, when they cut long hair short,
which you should be doing very shortly.
They donate it to this charity who makes wigs
out of real human hair for cancer patients.
Yes.
So, Kazarian gets my respect for that.
Absolutely.
Getting into Impact.
Lockdown happened?
I think, I mean, they were supposedly a pay-per-view last Sunday.
There were theaters across the country carrying it.
And some of them had to refund money to people because...
I didn't pay my $5 for this.
I think it was like 15.
To watch it in the theater.
Because that's what a bound for glory was last year.
They were having technical difficulties.
And some of them weren't getting the feed right.
And there were technical difficulties on Impact this week too,
where we missed like five, six minutes at a time.
And nobody noticed.
Of course.
But you know, of course, Impact has technical difficulties.
Hogan's running it.
Garrett Bischoff comes out, brings his team from lockdown
with him because he did beat his old man.
And so now, Eric's off TV forever.
Or, you know, two months, whichever comes first.
A quota, a quota.
I want to send a quick memo to Garrett Bischoff,
because I like to help.
I'm a helper.
There are people first.
I want to explain something to you, Garrett.
When Rob Van Dam is in the ring with you,
you're not the most popular guy in the ring.
I'm just, I'm just letting you know right now.
Like the pop for RVD was deafening, deafening.
I mean, you are, you are the least no pun intended,
impactful person in that ring normally.
But when Rob Van Dam is in there with you, you got nothing.
Yeah.
You got nothing.
How long has he been off the radar?
I mean, not just four months or something.
Really?
Really?
Last year.
By some RVD was on TV.
Oh, I thought he'd been gone for a lot longer than that.
I hadn't heard a thing about RVD for a long time.
And if you haven't watched Impact Spoiler Alert,
he's now your number one contender for the world title.
There's a shock.
Flarek comes out.
Apparently he's going to have a party for Eric.
Just coming week on Impact, because he's upset,
because they lost the match.
But what I thought was funny was really,
they were really selling the bit here every time.
Even today said Eric Bischoff, they bleeped the last name,
because now it's part of losing it locked down.
He's not allowed to use the Bischoff name anymore.
So whenever they'd mention his name, they'd beep out his last name.
Which I thought was kind of funny.
That's retarded.
Yeah, they're selling the bit.
God love them.
So Hogan comes to the ring.
And he says, we're changing things up here on Impact Brother.
And so here's what they're going to do.
They're going to have a special episode once a month,
which somebody on Twitter went.
Isn't that just a paper view?
But they said once a month, they're going to have this thing
called Open Fight Night.
And here's how it's going to work.
First things first is they're going to take people
and give them a chance to win Impact Contracts.
They're going to come on the show and they're going to wrestle
and there's going to be a panel of three judges.
And those three judges are going to pick someone
who's going to get an Impact Contract.
And I went, here's a question.
Haven't I already seen that when it's called Tough Enough?
Pretty much.
I'm just making sure.
Also,
anybody can issue a challenge to anybody
at this special Open Fight Night.
And Hogan is going to dictate who defends their titles
on those programs.
Okay.
So are we pretty.
I'm sipping my tasty beverage.
It's tasty beverages water.
Okay.
It's the elixir of life, sir.
It's two thirds of our planet.
Hold on.
It's got ice in it.
No.
No, I don't.
My ice machine's pregnant.
I just, how much failure do we predict here?
Tons of it.
Tons of it.
I mean, how much of it, how much of what are we actually supposed
to believe is just going to be your average Joe Schmucketelli
from the crowd.
And how many of these people have been in development?
Well, they're doing that.
They're doing that deal again.
They call it gut check.
Where it's kind of a local tough enough that they do in other cities.
So that's probably where these people are going to come from.
So they get a, and they get a TNA contract if they win.
If they impress the judge.
If they win.
They mean they impress the judges.
To me, that's the booby pie.
How about you just give me a hundred grand.
I can't just say I can't just go over to YouTube and be on NXT.
How about you just hand me a hundred thousand dollars
and we'll just walk away from each other.
Sir, you have to assume that company has a hundred thousand dollars.
Exactly my point.
Because they do employ sting, bish off at Hogan.
Yeah.
But Hogan does make an announcement that I'm very, very happy about.
He said that the TV title will be defended every week on impact.
So we actually get a TV title that's going to be defended on TV.
And that makes me happy.
It's all I've ever wanted.
Which will make this title...
Well, that in a pony.
Which will make this title pretty much worthless.
I don't know.
Devon's success.
We defended it.
This is Devon.
We're talking about it.
Devon's TV champion.
I like Devon.
He testifies.
But not if you weird.
Because that's a different kind of test.
Now, only one person testifies.
Let's get that straight.
Speaking of which, let's talk about some act down.
Because there's not much to talk about.
Because it was in London.
There you go.
O2 Arena.
Nothing against you.
Actually, we're going to skip the thing.
It's really going to straight to this.
We haven't talked about this individual with the clip.
Oh, no.
You were at WrestleMania.
You saw Brutus Clay.
A little bit of...
You heard this.
Oh, no.
I...
Okay.
Oh, no.
Hey, hey, hey.
Can somebody call my mother?
It's about to get funky.
He's the focus source.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Well, apparently we found out on SmackDown he has a little brother.
And here comes Hornswaggle.
Completely focus sourced out.
Wow.
I love this bit.
I don't care.
It just makes me laugh.
And Lillian.
Great dress, by the way.
I just want to throw that out there.
Funny.
It was funny.
What did they call Hornswaggle?
They haven't come up with a name yet.
They're wrestling Raptor.
I mean, they haven't...
I think...
Oh, hey, Brandon.
Is he going to be their version...
You know, WWE's version of Chaka.
What the hell?
There was something, I think.
Brodus said something about a...
Funkadactyl.
Something of that nature.
I'm not sure.
No way.
Yeah.
I swear to you.
Go back and read it.
So I can watch the take, sir.
No.
I won't do it.
And you can't make me.
We do have the debut.
Funkadactyl.
Jammasaurus.
Antonio Cesarad, who you might know from ROH as Claudio Castignoli.
That's a big dude.
Oh, and Brandon Berkhaus has joined us.
How long Mr. Berkhaus?
It's good to hear.
Good to see you in the room.
Hope you're feeling better, my friend.
Wow.
And I bet you're the first person that's ever said that thing.
Hey.
Deal with it.
It's one of my trainees.
Be nice.
It's one of my co-workers.
Sounds cool.
There go the wheels.
Yeah.
But that was, I didn't realize, like, I mean, Claudio Castignoli when I saw him.
But I guess because Chris Hero was that big as well.
He should be coming in any day now.
Cassius Ono was what he'll be wrestling as.
I'm trying to read what Don's put in the chat room right now.
So apparently they were trying to take all the yes signs from people.
Because Daniel Bryan's getting too much face heat with the yes thing.
But Claudio Castignoli is a big dude.
I'm looking forward to seeing what they're going to do with him.
Because that dude's got a lot of skills.
I wish they'd just keep him and Chris Hero together as kings of wrestling.
Because they were an amazing tag team.
But we know Vince takes tag teams.
You know, with Don saying that, how many times have the sign sensors gone nuts this week?
Oh, between him and A-Train and, yeah.
Give me a break.
I mean, you're never your knit.
And then apparently they told him to stop the yes chance.
That's going to make it.
Can you guys just not do that?
Yeah.
That's going to work.
Uh-huh.
Just kind of like, yeah.
Could you please not say what?
Can you please not go woo?
But you know what would have been great?
Really what it got in Daniel Bryan's face heat.
If he'd just run and said,
you people sign like you're from London.
Boom, Shalaka.
You're a beautiful audience.
I'm here all week.
And then we have another Rybeck squash of a local kid that's about a third of his size.
Are we doing something with this?
Are we going somewhere?
How is this guy?
It's Skip Sheffield from NXT.
The guy that had the A&M logo on his trunks.
Okay, that's what I thought.
That's who that is.
And I don't understand.
What are we doing with this?
Just very confused.
I guess we need another squash machine.
Mid carder's got a job somewhere.
So he has like the Terminator airbrush on his trunks.
Looks like he got him done in 1987.
He just doesn't know who he wants to be.
Arnold Schwarzenegger or Steven Segal.
Shhh.
You man, you Steven Segal!
So he was not heard of Rybeck.
I'm like,
please tell me his name is not Casey.
Please tell me his first name is not Casey.
Let us move on.
Do a little bit of music talk.
You just caught that?
I just caught that.
He was the hardest name.
I'm like, oh gosh, under siege guy.
Really?
There you go.
Let us do your box office numbers.
Remember last week's box office numbers are old.
So we're going to give you last night's box office top 10.
Number 10 with $1.1 million last night for a 22-day total of $52.2 million for Mirror Mirror.
Boy, that's dropping like a rock.
Number 9 with $1.4 million on Friday for a 36-day total.
For a 36-day total of get this $123.8 million 21 Jump Street has now made almost a $100
million profit.
Hilarious.
Saw it?
I love that movie.
Cheney Tatum.
I usually don't like him because I think he's got a D-baggish, but he was actually...
Wasn't he in GI Joe because I liked him in that?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Number 8 making $1.4 million on Friday for a 17-day total of almost $50 million for stupid boat
movie in 3D.
Can this just go away?
That would have made that movie better.
Number 7 another $1.7 million for a 15-day total of $44.8 million for American reunion.
Has anybody seen this?
For any of the show Chris Randall saw it said it was absolutely hilarious, just as good as the original.
Okay, good.
Hope.
Number 6 with another $2.3 million for an 8-day total of $22.5 million as Chad cries about the three
stuages.
But I'm laughing it's already out of the top five.
Number 5 making $2.5 million on Friday for an 8-day total of $21.7 million for Cabot in the Woods.
I want to see this.
I mean, it's already spoiled, but I want to see it.
Thanks to a couple of unscrupulous critics.
I haven't read this point.
This movie is like a suspense movie.
What is this?
It's complicated.
That's what I heard.
I was just trying to figure out what my finger on this.
Number 4 opening on Friday and getting $3.5, $3.6 million.
Congratulations Disney on getting people to go see a nature movie.
Yeah, chimpanzee made over $3 million.
It's like the third or fourth movie they've done in this vein.
I really like what they're doing with it.
Number 3 making $4 million for a 29-day total of $346.4 million.
They are finally dethroned.
Hunger Games drops to the bronze medal this week.
But still, they ain't got nothing to sh-
Hang your head about.
Number 2 making $9.13 million on Friday opening for a movie that has beaten chat into submission
for the last couple of weeks.
The lucky one.
I just said that first.
The dead come commercial has beaten me into submission.
And number 1 on Friday making $12.2 million.
Did not see this coming.
The Steve Harvey think like a man.
Now, if you are in-
I don't know if the-
If you are in Birmingham, Alabama tonight.
It's already-
It's already come and gone.
But if you were in Birmingham today, I saw on Twitter before I left work.
That-
Brandon says his mom wouldn't saw think like a man.
They gave her a lucky one ticket stuff.
Kevin Hart tweeted because he's in Birmingham.
Anybody comes to the 645 show of think like a man.
I'm buying everybody popcorn instead of-
Wow.
Kevin Hart has been pimping this movie all week.
And it looks funny.
He's been on FB all day.
I love the series of commercials they don't wear.
He's tried to tout himself as an Oscar worthy kid.
That dude is greatest.
Kevin Hart is amazing.
And it's got Kevin Hart.
He knocked the-
He knocked Mike F's out of my top slot for comedians.
It's got-
It's got Joey Farr from entourage in it.
I don't know.
It's eye-
It looks a stare.
Yeah.
And it looks like it's a chick flick that guys could go to.
And that's-
And that's kind of I think what Steve was going for here.
That doesn't have Tyler Perry's name in it.
It made $12 million on the track.
But Bia goes a China.
Okay.
So-
So-
The very first single from the Avengers soundtrack has released.
You want to hear it?
Yes.
Because I have it.
These guys are bad.
They've been bad.
Yes sir.
Nothing.
This is so incredible.
Music is not even funny.
This is Sound Garden.
The song is called Live To Rise.
Hulk's bad.
Twelve days.
I love this-
I love this band.
it is free on iTunes right now this is definitely right now this plays on the
in credits at some point maybe not right as the credits are rolling but as a
credits are wrapping up this is what we're gonna hear that don't see being an
open credits I'm gonna go ahead and go with the premier and credit on this one
I'm just waiting for this because you know what's happening
dude I'm digging this I was gonna do I have taken this 12 more days for the
ultimate Marvel movie marathon are you taking the day off of coming to hang out
with me for this absolutely May 3rd May 3rd North Park 11 30 in the
morning Iron Man Hulk Iron Man 2 4 and 3d Captain American 3d leading up to
the midnight premiere of the Avengers in 3d for 40 bucks what I've already got
my ticket I'm going I thought you knew about this no no no no no no I feel
bad as a Marvel fan right now this is happening May 3rd North Park I've
already bought my ticket brother I'm going I'm dwelling in the cave man I
just you got meet me up there I'm gonna get your ticket meet me there and
there and they're they're handing out like limited edition 3d glasses that are
probably after specific characters like an Iron Man tear all I have to
go six movies this one address up we might have to go cost six movies half of
them are in 3d for 40 bucks you can't beat that with a stick I'm bad with
who would be if I showed up in a green ladder costume I would laugh do you know
that again right now free on iTunes I think through tonight so if you want to
get this single get it now I went for like a Marvel versus are you wearing what
I think you're wearing my Captain America football jersey yes probably I found
a really cool shirt it colds the other day but it was that thin material
design for dudes my size I'm going with the Hulk smash gloves someone asked for
my ticket they're making new ones yeah they're making new ones they're
re re re issuing everything universal is developing a feature adaptation of
the Rockford files which I was like eh but for Vince Vaughn so I'm in yeah I
think Bruce Martin's head just exploded when he read about that so I'm in on
that we have a direct almost have a director for the next hunger games film
called catching fire his name is Francis Lawrence he's got a directed I am
legend couple of other notable ones too I'm trying to think of what they are
off the top of the head that was the big one charla which thinking got a
directed I am legend directing catching fire I did see a picture on
entertainment week's website this week as Anthony Hopkins begins work on the
Alfred Hitchcock biopic nice it's pretty scary looking like it's that Helen
Mirren playing Hitchcock's wife the very hot Scarlett Johansson playing
Vivian Lee James Darcy will be playing Anthony Hopkins Jessica Beale will be
playing Vera Miles Michael Stirlbar will be playing a new Wasserman and Tony
Collette playing Hitchcock secretary Peggy Charla says and on the Francis Lawrence
choice he did Constantine okay not a bad flick just need to be longer
absolutely the ill-fated NBC series from 2009 Kings that was actually a good
show and it just didn't do very well and one of your favorite films from last
year water for elephants uh-oh you go to hell you die he did also directed
Britney Spears video for I'm a slave for you who that's not the one off thing
that's what she was with the with the big snake yeah I was thinking the one
where she talks it's the one thing where she's got the red and JLo's video
like to stretch the outfit that links her look kind of naked the food roll
out yeah exactly oh that's a toxic it that's what I said okay okay that's
for a less than seconds and he also did JLo's video for waiting for tonight that
was not a bad video the Wolverine will begin in shooting this August in
Australia and then move the shooting to Japan so I think we know where we're
oh thank god I think we know where we're going with this now thank just don't
screw it up I want you to take this next story because you talk
me about this but before we do that let's back up a little bit
uh-star was just so in case you need to save up a little bit of money um oh and
uh Brandon wants to know the Johnny Dent movie is dark shadows the hunger
games is going to return to iMac screens for one week next Friday so there's
that I guess I get ready to take it well there's no way to get ready to take
this out of first run it's making too much money still no way but go ahead
with this other story I want you to bring this up yeah we we finally have our
first true casualty of the John Carter debacle it Disney and it was a
debacle 200 million dollar budget it's made what a fraction of that back
domestically I mean it's it's done decent overseas but dropped out of top
15 yeah it was it was a crater it was an absolute crater but the oh
domestically I think it did it crack 100 million here I'm working on that
right now but uh this is a Disney Studios executive Rich Ross resigned yesterday
so I was going on with this movie I mean I know the story of John Carter it was
like what was going on horribly it was horribly miss market it yeah I mean this
movie could have been huge domestic total 68.9 million dollars budgeted 250
million it's made 200 for it so it's actually it's made it's made a profit it's
made a nine a 19 million dollar profit I don't know if it's made a profit it's
made its budget back well yes how much they spend on marketing but why this
release was almost 3,800 theaters I mean nobody know who this character was
and you know it was it was more or less implied like oh you know who this guy is
and everybody's like no I don't oh yeah I had to well I had the research part
out yeah I mean you know it's written by the the character was created by the
guy that created Tarzan why not make that part of your marketing scheme from
the creative mind that brought you Tarzan okay now you have my attention but
they don't really show this as being a fish out of water story they just kind
of show you that he's already there uh-huh when he actually got plucked out from
earth from civil from civil war era is 850 first on the all-time domestic list
oh jeez 311 on the all-time world wide list 51 on top movies in the last
365 days that's bad that's bad 356 in opening weeks I with that kind of a
budget that is just catastrophic and this this is the kind of movie that does
this kind of an effect on a studio it ends people's careers was our part of
a comic book at one point it was a novel it was just a novel just like Tarzan
you know like that it was just a series of novels and at first it was called
John Carter from Mars and it was John Carter from Earth then they just called it
John Carter just to just to alleviate confusion when all it really did was
confuse people even more expedite confusion yeah so just a bad move on
on Disney's part and it unfortunately it costs this guy is he's set I think he
jumped before he got pushed is it somebody's had to got a role in us I guess
rich Ross and okay I guess that's fine I'm sure he got a really nice
competition I'm sure he didn't I'm sure he's already being courted by another
studio we have your first casting news for sin city to Mickey Rook
Rosario Dawson and Michael Madsen all will be joining the cast of the neck of
a dainty kill for and this was the role that I think brought Mickey Rook back
from all agree I just want to say it I mean whatever miracle Iron Man did for
Robert Downey Jr's career who is already kind of starting to rise again the
same can be said for for Marvin and well Madsen too Madsen one really bubbling
at the time that his movie came up no Madsen to do it yeah Madsen went in the
first one just Rosario and and Mickey Rook I know for the longest time like
Angelina Jolie was attached to this thing but it took them so long to get it
off the ground that they she finally just said I'm moving on I would I would
like to say the following thing I am now concerned for Iron Man 3 because of
this guy being added to the cast no not necessarily all because of the oh well
okay yeah guy Pierce and talks to play Aldrich Killian in Iron Man 3 this
comes from a Iron Man arc where the nanotechnology that that he used is now
rebelling against him because of what this guy designed it to do we've already
announced Ben Kingsley to play a villain I don't want multiple villains it it
never works well but as was was Aldrich's killing really like a super villain though
it was like an eight eight issue arc but does he get out there and duke it out I
don't know but I mean because I mean think about like maybe if he's a henchman of
Ben Kingsley's character like Sam Rockwell's character Sam Rockwell was kind of
like playing second banana we've already had a two villain thing Sam Rockwell
was working with with whiplash I see where you're going and if that's the case
I can roll that's that's okay but just don't put another costume villain out
yeah it's gonna start shooting in May in North Carolina will be released May
3rd 2013 will all be gone according to the minds anyway well but if you have
issue with that then you should have issues with dark night rises too so that
trailer is supposed to be attached to Avengers that's another reason you've got
to go with me cool I'm there I'm done especially if it's in 3d
oh well that movie's not gonna be in 3d though yeah but if it's attached to the
Avengers and the Avengers is gonna be in 3d but the trailer won't necessarily be
never know just saying movie new releases coming this coming Friday April the
27th the John Q Sack vehicle known as the Raven he was on Levitard the other day
still a great interview but wow he's starting to age he is one of our favorite
actors of all time greatness say anything with grace movies ever made this movie
looks cool too I love they I love the the concept of it
half a deli probably if you see I like high fidelity have you seen it was awesome have
you seen this thing the trailer for this yes the Raven absolutely fuzz with
like the killer that's mimicking what he's right yeah
sometimes I just have to stop and listen to this song because it's awesome as
this next one is this next uh stay thumb project yes movie called safe basically
ma may who was a young girl whose memory holds a priceless numerical code finds
herself pursued by the triads also the Russian mob and corrupt New York City
cops coming to her aid as an ex cage fighter whose life was destroyed by the
gangsters on maize try trail what does this look like to you
transporter no there's like nine movies this looks like specifically what one
movie specifically because as soon as I saw this trail like oh my god this is
a remake of man on fire no rush hour no this star no something was not called
damn minute little movie with John Reno and Natalie Portman called the other
professional not I didn't think that because he's not trying to teach her to
kill people well he really he was he wasn't really trying to we have more
plot points in this actually as soon as I but as soon as I saw the trail I'm
like this basically just looks like a rehash of that also starting this weekend
pirates the band of myths which looks hysterical this comes from Ardman the
geniuses of Ardman Nick Park and Ardman the guys are brought us chicken run
and Wallace and Robert and look at the the voice cast on the exactly you've
got Hugh Grant Martin Freeman David Tennant who's the new doc who was the last
doctor last doctor Jeremy Piven Selma Hayek Brian blessed Anton Yelchin
Brendan Gleason Al Roker yeah and now here's how the pirates are in your neck
of the woods you know what Roxy's come why not it looks it looks hysterical I love
stuff like this and just every time I saw the trailer for this I'm like okay I'm
in on that also starting this week this coming weekend the five year in
Gachemoo which is good so pretty pretty good bus Jason Segal Emily Blunt be
very hot Allison Breeze in this Warren Weedman Mimi Kennedy David Paymer I think
that's all the ones I recognize pretty self explanatory comedy that
church the ups and downs of an engaged relationship I think guitar hero
flashbacks listening to this and then there's this you heard about this week
Bernie is it about made off no it's this true story in small town Texas the
local mortician strikes up a friendship with a wealthy widow though when he
kills her he goes a great lengths to create the illusion that she's alive I can
tell you you will not be seeing this wait a minute wait a minute wait wait wait
wait wait wait is this just a coincidental title yeah nobody else is
taking up on this Bernie made off is it no no no no no you just told me you
just repeated the plot of this making her making her look like she's still
alive what don't we remember a weekend at Bernie's oh yeah oh I see what you're
going to share good fun there's a dance called the Bernie now but there's a
reason you won't see this which one the title characters played by Jack
okay also Matthew McConaughey plays a sleazy lawyer and Trillian McLean plays
the widow
so DVD and Blu-ray new releases this week another movie that has whipchat
and a submission as the Mark Wahlberg vehicle contraband hits DVD and Blu-ray
also the in keepers which is another cheap rip on paranormal activity and the
failed failed failed I know nothing about this this is the last weekend ABC did a
titanic mini series that absolutely actually they didn't like this roach was
in it yeah that actually it was a BB series it was brought over it tank in the
ratings yeah because nobody knew it was on I didn't have a clue and I have
stuff on my DVR for ABC that I watch regularly I do not remember seeing a
single promo about this you know Jules and I were sitting around like we saw
the trailer for the previous night and I'm like is this on right now you see
the clubhouse live each and every Saturday night we're running a little bit
long tonight because we ran a little bit like it started so we're gonna move
right along with a little bit of NHL NFL news we've done each other just got a
lot of news this week the the league now mowing eliminating kickoffs all
together after moving them up five yards what now eliminating kickoffs that's
one of the most exciting parts of the game to me
I know now they're getting a point with a softened look that's ridiculous
because they don't want collisions come on man they're already booting 90% of
my back and it's on already well they're doing it now because they moved it up
fight yeah right just start them on the 20 if you're gonna do that because I
what's Devin Hester gonna do I like watching him return kicks hey hey hey
excellent shoe baby Patrick Peterson you know good point good point just saying
that this is one of the dumbest things I've heard come down the bike in a
while Minnesota's governor has stated that they knew deal with the
Vikings now may be in trouble and if it doesn't get done they will move the
team the rumors at this point are is Los Angeles Roger Cadill is there right
now talking to legislators wow Minnesota can't lose the Vikings no it's like
well they can't be the LA Vikings yeah they can't be the LA Vikings because you
can't take the name with you it's a rule but somebody else brought up an
interesting point LA is already stolen a team from them
the Lakers yeah that's true wow MPLS Jersey boot to the motherhouse yeah but
they got such a great theme song that's your leader Sean Peyton as part of his
suspension we found he cannot contact anyone involved with the NFL in any way
except his human resources rap genius don't wear a football jersey around him
too much of the bad boy house man just like like somebody said just go to like
St. Bartz for a year and chill out you know I'm sure he's got money in the
bank I'm just saying we are five days away from the NFL draft the cults on
Friday announced they will be taking Andrew Luck with the number one pick the
last time they had the number one pick of the NFL draft was 14 years ago when
they drafted a young man by the name of Peyton Manning straight up the SEC
how we do it Jeff Andrew Luck is pack something pack 11 and a half
pack 11 and a half the Falcons have turned down hard knocks they want to focus
on the season because they actually want to get through the playoffs rumors of
the jets again oh my god well we know with the Tibo Rex Ryan dynamic is the
center I'm gonna watch it no matter who it is because I like hard knocks but
just Sanchez actually was very highly complimentary of Tibo the other day
said I love working with this guy yeah I like this guy do you buy that that
seats real hot he has to I'm putting it over under I mean you realize in the
first five weeks they play for the top defenses in the league yeah some people
are crying good spirits and that does yeah that does kind of sound like
shenanigans real quick one real quick story and technology corner because not
much happened this week Halo 4 now has a release date of November 6th have you
seen some of the specs on this thing oh god yes they're doing some pretty cool
stuff with this new Halo game uh-huh I've been playing reach multiplayer like
for the past several days online forgot how much fun that game is it's kind of
tough if you didn't been playing nothing but Call of Duty and you go back to
Halo it almost feels like you get your hands on back oh wait a minute that
doesn't run yeah I can't make him run that doesn't throw grenade
let's unless you've got anything else we're gonna keep moving they have
announced a new Super Mario Brothers 2 really for the 3DS which means that at
some point I'm sure it'll be ported over for the Wii because did you ever pick
that one up for the Wii I said my brothers I didn't you'd love it a multiplayer
Mario game dude I have been home for longer I know I'm just saying you know a
multiplayer Mario game that doesn't involve moving around a game board like
Mario party oh no this game's a blast you would love it also I did look into
something that I don't know if you're a Wii fan at all Cliffy not really somebody
has released a mod so to speak for super super smash brothers brawl on the Wii
you basically just loaded on to your SD card it's called Project M and it makes
it play more like and it makes it play more like melee on the game cube which
is the version that everybody really like that says perfectly legal there's
you don't have to hack into your Wii or anything just put on the SD card put it
in and boot up the game yeah yeah I know these two things that's that's no
kidding I remember when that came out I was working at Toys Rescue when that came
out bring me a proper Star Fox sequel on the Wii and make me a happy camper
have you seen it on the 3DS no it's basically just a remake of Star Fox 64
you know I was reading it's amazing I want a zero bad I know was that big fan
that's a fun game game you know just keep it in the Mario Kart universe for me
that's if I'm gonna race on an Nintendo console that's what I'm playing in the
Mario Kart again I got sick of getting hit by turtle shells and mushrooms you are
listening to the clubhouse we are live each and every Saturday night make sure
you're listening to our partner show Cody's playbook that airs on Sundays we're
gonna do a lot of little bit on campus talk he can get you really in depth with
college sports we're gonna do a little bit ourselves what how bad do you feel
if you're the father of this Alabama the unnamed players father and Alabama how
they're having their big uh their big spring game he he bumps the table and breaks
the crystal football which is handmade in Ireland and costs 30 thousand dollars
row 10 row 10 row right on to the ground right off the there you go and a tie
to the road yeah so I was like did Steve Austin just walk in and say
everybody have any super glow excuse me for being vindictive but I love this one the
only the only picture that we've seen is just one little piece of the crystal
that's sitting on the floor we have a saying in sports the ball don't lie yeah it's
up by the way brain it is that he wants to be a killer instinct never gonna happen
joy I wish it would it's never gonna happen though unfortunately the infinite combo
welcome Larry Brown to the Dallas Fort Worth area as he's your now what your new SMU men's
basket ball we're talking about that can done three days six years I was in you
I know how old Larry Brown is and they make no bones about this on PTI on PTI and
they talk about this all the time Larry Brown was a summer camp counselor at a camp
that Tony Cornheyser went to as a kid he tells you how old Larry Brown is what that
because he goes because I was called your old camp counselor he's like yeah he counseled
a summer camp maybe he's Jason he can't die or Michael Moore so I don't know what this
does for SMU I mean it's a it's a name you you heard about the Isaiah Thomas thing didn't
you because you know that fire FI you got rid of him and the entire team walked out of
the athletic banquet in protest wow well I think I do a much more so it's true Kentucky
starting five will all go to the NBA this year so calipari is gonna rebuild but that's
what calipari does that's what he does you know Pat summit wow this this story hurts yeah Pat
summit now retires after 38 seasons with the University of Tennessee she will still be the
coach of Meredith's which means she can still go to practices and she can talk to the players
but she can't coach you also what dementia early on said early on said of a dementia
of Alzheimer's but she can actually still sit behind the bench they're gonna let her sit
she just can't coach during the game but since she's still on staff and next year will be her
40th season she'll get a million dollar bonus from the university nice you have to do this
that's her double you have to do this with her let's go down the resume do it her career she has
1098 and 208 she has an 840 win percentage that's in 38 seasons she's never had a losing record
she has more wins than anyone men or women in NCAA basketball history take that five night she's been
to 18 final fours she's one eight of them both of those records and women's basketball history 50%
she never missed the tournament ever never sat lower than a five seed and this is the kicker
from me what you're about to read and she will receive the presidential medal of freedom
you don't get it don't get no better than that as a civilian absolutely and you know what this woman has earned every bit of it
you have no problem she should get a Nobel Peace Prize yeah she should be a she should be
sainted they should name the college after her this woman cannot have enough accolades but you know what
one of the greatest friendly rivalries I've ever watched in sports is her and Geno Ariama from
you con the woman is class person they hated each other on the court but they were absolute best
friends off the court I mean Geno said they talked every day he says this sucks you know and the
woman that she's handing it over to they had a big at the last game they played they had a big
video presentation and it showed the new coach when she played there in her short shorts and they
all laughed and beautiful press conference on Friday god do you do you want to fill those who the heck
wants that job she's been grooming for years but still but you know what not that it means anything
coming from a couple of a couple of spares in Dallas Texas but you know what Pat summit if by
some chance you hear this you have my utmost respect you always have yeah I think you've got the
most you are you are the absolute definition of class and grace and this sport is worse for not
having you directly involved so there is that do you heard have you heard this was conflict story
earlier this week there's a kid at Wisconsin by the name of Jared Udoff Utoff FF he is 6.8 he was a
red shirt he wants to leave Wisconsin his coach says in the beginning of the week you know what
I'm banning you from talking to other schools I'm banning you from the entire ACC the entire
big 10 Iowa State where he's from and Marquette first of all can he do that I guess what I don't
he he went on Mike and Mike and said well you know this happens all the time the NCAA and the fine
print is not really very fine if you read it it says that we can do that well then Friday he
retracts it and says that he can only he can talk to anybody but other schools in the big 10
my my question is or what I don't know if they were if they were going to make him repay what
it was scholarship that he earned or what it was a very strange story but you know what the kid wants
out let him out yeah especially if he wants to go back to his hometown where Iowa State is you let
him go I've never understood why people are trying to lock athletes in a place like that I never
understood it and was he's that good because he was a red shirt so why is it that big a deal
these names bow the street light is on do this sir this speaking of respect by the way since
close that you've been last on the show we now have a new theme for the for the list so here it is
just make a water by his head I don't know why not
whoa you know what this is not you know it's from Sesame Street the big pinball animated pinball game
this pointer sisters ever watched the pointer sisters never watch this what never watch this
oh my god I was too busy riding my bike this show taught me how to read we talked about
now I can't read we talked about the loss of the great Dick Clark earlier in the show so I thought
I'd be due since I have the list tonight as I thought I'd go through and get you some unknown
little known facts about Dick Clark okay as I was reading material on him from various websites and
various sources I found 10 things that I thought actually I found more than 10 things but some things
I had to to redo and it's kind of funny because one of the things on this list pertains to the nature
of the very list itself so we'll start with number 10 Dick Clark is actually his real name he was
born Richard Wagstaff Clark on November 30th 1929 he was about to have his 83rd birthday
number nine he actually introduced Ed McMahon to Johnny Carson in the late 50 wow I had no idea
Ed and Ed was the first to admit that he said he introduced me to Johnny Carson late 50s
he just thought we we had really good chemistry and the next thing we know we're doing a talk
he was right number eight he was the killer on the very final episode of Perry Mason
spoiler alert hey I read that I was like that's kind of cool that is cool
I know kind of about it number seven his very first television show was called
cactus Dick and the Santa Fe writers oh she was a country music program and I'm thinking Dick Clark
buddy how would he round up can you get good number six the very first person he ever interviewed on
American bandstand was August 5th 1967 and that was Elvis Presley in 1957 I mean that was when
Elvis hit the stride that was the gold one may suit well 57 or 60 I'm 67 so that would have
been right before the comeback special I'm sorry no that would have been 57 because he started
bandstand in 57 I'm sorry I typed that wrong it's 57 okay number five he ended bandstand's
whites only policy by bringing Chuck Berry on the show you guys touched on that earlier that's
all that's that's all that's how you do it then this next one I didn't know in 1999 there was
no New Year's rock and Eve this is number four it was replaced by ABC 2000 today which was more
news oriented and starred Peter Jennings because it was just this whole millennium however however
he was still on the show because he did the countdown to the ball drop okay that's okay
that there was no New Year's rock and Eve but he still was on I guess they were kind of thinking
that all the bands amps were gonna shut down whenever the millennium bucket did snap I got this
show me yo I got the button just I write you just sit back there you do the hard stuff just leave
the ball drop thing he talked to that green screen number three he won nine Emmys for the daytime
version of the pyramid he is only second to my personal favorite jeopardy was 12 it goes
jeopardy still on the air I guess 27 seasons now number two this one blew my mind
from 1958 to 1960 Dick Clark hosted a late night theater version of bandstand called the Dick Clark
show there were no dancers so it was just the band basically lip syncing their hits of the day
but at the end of the show Dick Clark would rattle off the top 10 records of the coming week and there
be a big big fanfare and it was a big production what does this sound like this was literally
the inspiration for Letterman's top 10 list that's where that comes from I figured you'd make
this number one I was just like no number ones the number one blew my mind yeah but I was just like
I always wondered how because I figured it tends around number it was today thing I did not know it
came from Dick Clark you probably admit like you said you there was I can only imagine how much you
had to leave off this list because there were so many of them for instance one of the things I left
off the list was he had one sibling he had a brother who died in World War II oh wow
um gosh man he is sounding older and older about a minute well he was America's oldest teenager
I mean there was a reason they called him that yeah because for coming from the world and that
because for years he just he'd never looked any older the man and he and he aged like all at one
time yeah yeah Tina Torres I mean after after that stroke I actually is more or less after he got
after he was diagnosed with diabetes in 04 it's whenever he really started to come down the other
thing I left out is while he went to Syracuse University and he was a member of the Delta
Kappa Epsilon fraternity you fight Gama chapter number one and this one I don't know if I would call
this do you want to do over because I think these guys did okay yeah he never could and he tried
his dog on this he never got the Beatles on bandstand I got I guess once you've done Ed Sullivan
and they figured that they really didn't have time in their schedule for TV appearances anymore
I don't really do I don't know I don't really remember them doing a lot of TV appearances
per se I really don't because they didn't have to say I said Ed Sullivan I don't think they
really thought that it was necessary but that's the list darn good list thank you sir thanks
